Flash CS3 Debugger not recognizing keyboard input

I am trying to debug a piece of code involving a keystroke.
While debugging, when I hit the key the first time, the breakpoint
is triggered. But after the breakpoint, the debugger simply ignores
any other keystrokes. I'm trying to see what happens when the key
is pressed a second time so you can see why this is frustrating me.
I'm running Flash CS3 on an intel iMac. The program is
written in AS3.
Is this a known issue? Are there any workarounds?
Thanks in advance!
Jeremy

  • Flash CS3 Debugger works only sometimes

I have an ActionScript 3.0 Flash file (.FLA) that simply does
not seem to want to stop at any breakpoints or otherwise show up in
    the debugger.
If I take the code on its one single layer of script, copy it
into a new AS3 Flash file, and debug it, the debugger works
correctly. However, even if I strip every single symbol and object
from the original file, and leave it with just trivial placeholder
code (attached), the file will not stop at a breakpoint or run any
of the other Flash CS3 debugger functions. Instead, I see the code
in the debugger, and the program running as if the debugger weren't
even present. Sometimes I get an X button on the debug console that
allows me to terminate the program, sometimes not even that.
The Output window shows the standard lines:
Attemping to launch and connect to Player using URL <path
    to my SWF>
    [SWF] <my SWF's location> - 792 bytes after
    decompression
15 [ <--- result of the attached placeholder code ]
The Publish settings for the faulty document are - as far as
I can tell - identical to the new file:
Flash is the only format being exported
Version is set to Flash Player 9
    Load order is Bottom up
AS version is 3.0 with all items checked, no export class,
    and frame 1 export
    Compress movie is checked
At some point I also checked Permit debugging, but it doesn't
    seem to make any difference
    All other options are default
I manually downloaded and installed the Debug version of
Flash Player 9.0.124.0 earlier, but since the "clean" file debugs
correctly, I don't think this is the problem.
I've also tried a number of other steps, including Save and
Compact and just about everything else I could think of.
I have several files like this in my project. Are they doomed
never to work with the debugger? Is something wrong with my Flash
    installation?
    Cheesy placeholder code attached below:

if you're wanting to look at the contents of variables,
unlike the AS2 debugger, the movie needs to be paused, for example
at a breakpoint. Once the movie's paused variables will appear in
    the 'Variables' window.

  • TV not recognizing VGA input

I have this TV hooked up to my Arch machine and whenever I run xrandr the computer sees the output. The problem is, the TV is not recognizing any input so I can't change into VGA. Arch even detects the correct resolution and when I hook up a Debian machine it displays image with no problem.

Look into your TV manual for the supported resolutions
I had a experience a while back with a TV at my wife parents place where xrandr said that 1980x1080 (fullHD) was a supported resolution, but the screen just went blank. When I consulted the manual, I found out that the maximum supported resolution was in fact, 1366×768 (WXVGA), which worked almost perfectly (there was a missing pixel column on the right side, not too much of a trouble).
Short version: Check the TV specs, xrandr sometimes lies.

  • Flash CS3 will not launch

After years of using Flash CS3 on our Windows 7 computer, it would not launch. So we did a system recovery -(everted to factory image), re-installed Windows and updates, installed Flash CS3, then successfully did the license verification. But Flash CS3 will not launch.
We copied the Flash Icon from the Start Menu to the TaskBar. This is the icon we clicked on to do license verification, but now we can't use it to launch Flash CS3.
    Thanks for any ideas.

    8GB Memory
    1TB Hard Drive
    Model: HPE-210y

(I realize Flash CS3 is not meant to work on Win 7, but it has for years on this computer and on a Toshiba laptop, also with AMD processor)

Well I decided to reinstall OSX to see if that would help,
and that seemed to fix it. I'm still not sure what the problem was,
but a fresh install seemes to have fixed it :]

  • Apple monitor not recognizing keyboard

My 7 day old Apple 23" monitor is not recognizing my 7 day old Apple keyboard (hardwired, not wireless). I am using a MacBook Air. All was fine until last night.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks!

Some similar things but not many. I have not changed anything in the computer. Update , I did borrow a VGA to VGA cable was able to get this to work. But for the life of me I cannot get a signal from  the Displayport. Also I tried a Displayport  to DVI-D cable with no results. I would like to use a digital signal rather than an analog. Maybe I will try to update my Bios.
Thanks for your reply. Anybody else had this problem?

  • Flash CS3 hanging & Not responding

    Hi there,
I'm having an issue with trying to import an .ai (CS3) file
    with strokes to Flash CS3.
Whenever I try and import a complex (730 shapes) .ai file
with strokes, Flash just hangs and becomes unresponsive. I can
however import the same complex .ai file without strokes defined.
I can also import less complex (7 shapes) .ai files with
    strokes defined.
Has anyone experienced similar issues and found a fix?
    Many thanks, Rich

  • Adobe Reader 10.1.2 not recognising keyboard input

    Hi,
I'm having a problem with Adobe Reader X on Windows 7 Ultimate. Adobe Reader is not recognising any keyboard input, so I'm unable to type in a page number to jump to that page, the alt key doesn't bring up the menu, even Alt+F4 doesn't close the application etc. Has anybody experienced this problem, and if so, is there a solution out there?
I've tried both repairing the installation, and doing a new install, both of which have failed to rectify the problem.
    Thanks.

Sorry for the confusion. Please try the following steps:
    1. Launch Notepad and type in following:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.exe]
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.exe]
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.exe\OpenWithList]
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.exe\OpenWithProgids]
    "exefile"=hex(0):
    2. Click on File > Save As
    3. In the new dialog that appears:
Select All Files in the Save as type list, and then type C:\Exe.reg in the File name box.
Select Unicode in the Encoding list. Save it and remember the file location.
    4. Open My Computer and double click on the C: icon
    5. You will see a file by the name of "Exe.reg". Double click on the same and click Yes on any dialog that appears.
    6. Once completed, restart the computer and your problem should be resolved.

  • Garageband not recognizing external inputs from minijack entrance

    Hello
I need to connect a sound mixer to the Macbook via minijack audio entrance. Even I have changed the settings for audio input in System Preferences (from internal mic to external line) garageband is not recognizing any external input and internal microphoen is always active.
    Someone had the same problem?
    Thankx

Change the input in Garageband > Preferences > Audio Midi.

  • Flash CS3 debugger window background color

Is there any way to get Flash CS3 to use the same background
color from your actionscript settings in the debugger? It's always
light gray--I like to use a black background for my actionscript,
but now I'm probably going to have to change to gray since it
appears the debugger ALWAYS uses a gray background regardless of
your settings? (My text is white and I can't see it against the
    debugger background)
Is there any way to change this?

if you're wanting to look at the contents of variables,
unlike the AS2 debugger, the movie needs to be paused, for example
at a breakpoint. Once the movie's paused variables will appear in
    the 'Variables' window.

  • Flash CS3 will NOT export my flash video

Alright, so I want to start out by saying, I hate Microsoft
(always will, they will never get anything right) and if I had
1500+ bucks I would buy a mac, but I'm stuck with my XP machine.
My machine is a Dell (reformatted so that I don't have all
    Dell's "junkware"). I have a Pentium 4 3.4 Ghz with HT, 2GB DDR2
RAM, and a Radeon x600 HyperMemory 256MB graphics card. I also run
Windows XP and my version of CS3 is Web Premium (Student, but that
shouldn't make a difference.) So my machine is more than compatible
with Flash Pro CS3. But for some reason, when ever I do ANYTHING to
"Publish" my flash video, it (the one and only Windows XP) will
come up and say that Flash CS3 needs to close. I have tried Debug,
I'm pretty sure I've tried everything.
This is my first flash movie and so far I'm getting the worst
impression from my software. It's not anything that is REALLY
complicated, All I have is text tweening in and out of my canvas
(and yes they are converted to symbols).
Not quite sure what else to do other than give up. Please
    help me!

I am having a similar problem. Looks like this issue is languishing in Adobe's legendary support netherworld...

  • Firefox and Thunderbird are suddenly not accepting keyboard input

Keyboard shortcuts still work just input in any kind of input field fails so I can still use ctrl+C / CTRL+V to somewhat use firefox and Thunderbird But all input fields are completely unresponsive to keyboard input
The problem suddenly arose while I was browsing.
I have the same issue on all program's based on the Gecko engine and I confirmed them so far in Firefox, waterfox, instantbird, thunderbird and fossamail. However chromium / windows / basically everythign n
To fix it I tried the following:
    Restarting firefox
    Restarting firefox in savemode
    Rebooting
Changing the keyboard layout in windows
    Using a different keyboard
    Again rebooting
Pressing F7 to check for caret mode which was disabled
pressing winkey + F9 (Whatever that does)
    I am running windows 8.1(x64)

Solved, Changing the keyboard layout again and rebooting fixed it. I tried using the on screen keyboard which worked so I changed the keyboard layout again and rebooted and now it works just fine. I still wonder what caused a Gecko wide issue like this?

Hi, I understand what you are saying about no notice, etc. This first appeared with the Service Pack 1 for Win7 and then carried over to the IE9. I hear an update to IE9 is coming so hopefully they will have a notice appear. I'd like to see a "new changes" when the browsers are updated, right along with the instructions to download/Install it.
I'm glad that took care of the problem for you and it wasn't anything more serious:-)
Thanks for marking your thread as answered also.
