Flash file types
what's the difference between a project, a flash file or an
swf file?
npqster,
> what's the difference between a project, a flash file or

A project file contains information on other files. Think if
it roughly
in terms of a playlist, except instead of listing songs to
play, a project
file lists files associated with a project. Or think of it
like a set of
browser bookmarks. You don't need to use project files, but
they can help
organize project-specific files.
A Flash document (FLA) file (generally pronounced "flah") is
a source
file that can stand on its own or appear inside a project.
The FLA file
contains your timelines, a Library with assets (imported
artwork, fonts,
etc.) and your internal code.
A SWF file (generally pronounced "swiff") is the published,
compacted
version of your FLA file. The SWF is the thing that gets
uploaded to your
server and displayed in an HTML page.

Advice on allowing specific file types to be written to USB flash drive
We currently have all of the Removable Storage Access policies enabled (Computer Config > Policies > Admin Templates > System/Removable Storage Access) and would like to know if it is possible to allow specific file types to be exempted from this
policy. Specifically we need to allow certain users to write to USB flash drive but need to limit to MS Office files only. Is this possible?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Third party products can do that. GPO cannot.

Flash is not listed the Content type list in the applications tab Firefox prefs.
I can download Flash files and save them but they will not automatically open Flash when downloaded . . . normally a mime or what FF class Content type . . .

video files of type *.flv and *.f4v are considered Flash files, how play them (win7) are files in file windows explorer?
Not sure what you are saying; are these local or online files?
Adobe does not longer provide Adobe Media Player to play local files; use a 3rd-party player like VLC Media Player. -
Show file type icons for MS Word, Adobe Flash etc
Hi,
I'd like to know if anyone has found a way to display custom icons for assets such as MS Word documents, Adobe Flash documents etc. Currently if a user uploads one of these types of asset a generic blank document icon is presented. It would be very nice if instead a recognizable icon would be presented instead.
I have dug into the filetypes.plist found in /Library/Application\ Support/Final\ Cut\ Server/Final\ Cut\ Server.bundle/Contents/Resources/conf and have had some success getting an Adobe InDesign document display a non-blank icon when viewing it's asset, but there's no documentation out there so I'm kind of working in the dark.
Thanks in advance,
PaulI used the CS Cleaner (http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html) and followed the steps its really easy.. but ur gonna have to re install you Creative Suite all u do for the cleaner is open it up then select english (e) ->enter->Agree (Y)->enter->All (1) (which is the first option for a full clean i guess)->enter->Product Number its just basically asking you to input your choice number again (1)->enter and should tell u its all done then after u install CS again go to start-> default programs->associate file type->.psd for example->double click it and select Photoshop even though its probably already selected >.< but just do it again cuz it will refresh all the files on the coputer and whala you should c the correct file dysplay Heres pictures of my files before and after as proof

I was in the process of reorganising my hard drives so I could RAID them however I managed to corrupt one drive and had to format it which meant I lost all my Logic Files and some other files. I managed to save a lot of files (mainly video files) before I had to format the drive but I need a Data Recovery service that will not alter anything on the hard drive and will put all the formatted files (regardless of the type) back for me so I can get the rest of the ones I need.
Thanks in advance.What about folders and such?
No. FS doesn't reconstruct folders. However, Data Rescue does, depending on how you use it. About the only thing in Data Rescue a Quick Scan ever seems to show you are files that are already live.
So that leaves you with a Deep Scan, or a Deleted Files scan. The first pass of a Deep Scan will attempt to retrieve folders and files, along with their original names. The second pass only looks for file patterns. Like recognizing a Photoshop .psd file. It will recover it, but give it a nonsense name. A Deleted Files scan only results in nonsense names of recognized file types; no folders.
What were you using File Salvage on? A hard drive?
Yes, though you can use it on a flash drive, or any other mounted drive.
At the moment it is estimating 289 hours remaining on a 1TB drive. Can it not go faster?
No, both of the software mentioned are slower than molasses in January. When you delete anything in Windows, its file table entry simply tagged as deleted. So to unerase them, the tag is removed. That's why it works to quickly and easily (assuming you haven't already overwritten the data to be recovered).
In OS X though, the whole idea of the underlying UNIX structure is all about security. It's not supposed to be easy to retrieve deleted items. When you delete items, their file table entries are erased. So the only way to find deleted items is to scour the entire drive for BOF (Beginning Of File) markers that don't have a matching starting block to anything that is in the file table.
Another question, half the drive was empty. Will it fly over that empty space or will it sieve through it incase there was some files stored on it?
If you use the Expert mode is FS, you can choose to do that: -

Insert animated gif or flash files (.swf) in Form?
How can i insert animated gif or flash files (.swf) or another type of animated files in Form?
If you are web deployed you can put an animated gif as the image to an iconic button.
Image items cannot display animated gifs.
Anything else you can do through a JavaBean if you need to. -
How do i play my videos in flash file after moving SWF file to website?
Hello all,
I am having some problems showing my videos in flash after moving it anywhere besides my computer.
I published my flash file once as a exe. file and sent it to another computer, where it all worked but my videos, which didn't show up at all.
I also published them as SWF files, then put them up on my free website (where i don't have access to the ftp) and the videos still aren't there.
The videos will play fine in an SWF file on my computer, but i am assuming when they are away from the videos, they don't have a source to access them.
I also tried sending the videos along with the SWF files when sending to other computers and it still doesn't work.
I now have a free hosted website (with wix.com if that makes any difference) with my flash work on, but no videos. I even tried to embed a youtube video into the scenes the videos are meant to appear, and put the videos on youtube, then i discovered you can't put that sort of HTML into flash.
Does anyone know how to show the videos on these sort of website, or even better, how to keep them in original file when sending them, so they show on other computers.
Sorry if I've waffled but I'm trying to clear up my situation .
Any help would be super, many thanks,
Flasher87i am using the website wix, so in order to put the swf file up you just click the "Upload SWF" button, so i don't know how i could put the videos along with the swf, the swf is just sat on the page once i upload it.
second, when using this type of website do you know how i'd go about giving the website the permissions to play flv files?
Thank you. -
Flash File not Able to Display using ADF Trinidad components..
Hi All,
I am trying to display a flash file using ADF trinidad component for one our project but not able to display when embeded inside the code.
However I am able to directly access the flash file using http://localhost:7101/test/pages/test.swf
The below Object code is included inside the tr:panelHorizontalLayout tag. I also tried using tr:media but doesnt display anything on the browser.
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=10,0,0,0" width="210" height="230" id="footer_ad1" align="bottom">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain"/>
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="false"/>
<param name="movie" value="http://localhost:7101/test/pages/test.swf"/>
<param name="quality" value="high"/>
<param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff"/>
<embed src="http://localhost:7101/test/pages/test.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="210" height="230" name="test" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" allowFullScreen="false" type="application/x-shockwave- flash" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer"/>
</object>-->
Thanks
ChetanHi Ramandeep,
I tried that option early but did not work. Not able to understand why.
Below is the code snippet.
<tr:panelGroupLayout layout="vertical">
<tr:panelHorizontalLayout>
<!--Some Portlets are added-->
<f:verbatim>
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=10,0,0,0" width="210" height="230" id="footer_ad1" align="bottom">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain"/>
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="false"/>
<param name="movie" value="http://localhost:7101/test/pages/test.swf"/>
<param name="quality" value="high"/>
<param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff"/>
<embed src="http://localhost:7101/test/pages/test.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="210" height="230" name="test" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" allowFullScreen="false" type="application/x-shockwave- flash" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer"/>
</object>
</f:verbatim>
</tr:panelHorizontalLayout>
</tr:panelGroupLayout>
And as I mentioned it works fine when I directly access the flash file by using http://localhost:7101/test/pages/test.swf.
Thanks

rest?
2 - How do I actually change out the images with the ones I

iweb2 navbar is rendered by javascript widget, therefore you can change navbar font style with javascript; this is an efficient way to change navbar font style.
Copy and paste the following into your pages using HTML Snippet:
<script type = 'text/javascript'>
function changeNavbar() {
navCSS = parent.document.getElementById('widget0-navbar');
navCSS.style.fontSize = '0.75em'; // font size, change to less than 1em to change font smaller;
navCSSbg = parent.document.getElementById('widget0-bg');
navCSSbg.style.textAlign = 'center'; // navbar list alignment;
clearInterval(chkNavbar);
chkNavbar = setInterval('changeNavbar()', 500);
note: You won't see the changes in iweb, but you will see the change when view the pages online - after publishing.
into a HTML snippit, what do I do? I just see a box full of coding. -
IMovie export file type selection for iDVD
I'm manipulating "home movies" (old Hi8 & new flash HD) with intent to eventually burn DVD's for various family members (e.g., children & grandparents) using iDVD. I have been creating Projects then exporting as either Movie (Medium .m4v) or Quicktime (.mov).
What are the trade-offs for subsequent incorporation of these file types into iDVD? For example, is one of better quality - especially in light of all future source clips being AVCHD?Old Toad:
Thank you for the suggestions. My dilemma is HD storage. For example, one Project (~63 minutes) is derived from Hi8 .dv clip consuming 12.67GB. After export as .m4v the Project's resultant file is only 738.4MB, and I expect a QT .mov export to be ~2.74GB - both of which consume less space than the source file. I've ~40 Hi8 tapes to convert, plus am adding footage with my new camcorder. Therefore my plan, possibly flawed as I am new to all of this, is to import source Events, build Projects, export to best-mode for later iDVD, then delete the source Event and Project to save space. Otherwise I'll be out of space before I can capture all of my Hi8 content.
Your suggestion, whcih is greatly appreciated, would require me to start generating iDVD projects immediately for best quality - yet I hesitate because I want to build DVDs based on a comprehensive inventory of the old footage. Is there a best-quality export from iMovie for subsequent incorporation into iDVD? -
I open a .psd file, make changes to eliminate layers and reduce the file size to then save as a smaller .jpg file. However, when the drop down window pops up to select what file extension I would choose, it immediately flashes closed with out time to make a selection .jpg or otherwise. No matter how many times I try to "beat" the window and make a selection, it's faster than me and it closes. It refuses to allow me to change the file type extension. This problem seems to have developed after downloading recent updates to the program. It's preventing me from doing my work. I need help fast. Can anyone help? I've already tried deleting the program from my system and reloading it, but the problem didn't go away.
Other minor glitch happened at the same time. Any file or group of files opened now fill the screen and are anchored together. I have to go to the menu every time and select 'Float all Windows', and if any other file is opened during the same work session, all previous files will become full screen images again and anchor themselves together again, so need to go to the menu and select 'Float all Windows' AGAIN. It's a real pain. I've tried looking in the preferences and didn't find a solution to the problem. Anyone have any suggestions? This problem is minor thought, compared to the first one listed which has crippled me moving forward in my work.
Thanks to anyone who can help....Hi Noel,
Thanks for trying to assist me. Below is the system info you requested, but to my knowledge, I haven't consciously loaded anything other than a few fonts beyond the original program and any subsequent updates from Adobe. I did forget to list earlier that I'm working on WIN 7 OS. I hope this helps...

Problem with displaying flash file in UIX page
Hi everybody
I would like to use a flash file (.swf file) above all my UIX pages.
I want to put falsh file in the UIX template file (.uit file) so that
when I create pages based on template, it will be shown on the top of all pages .
Does anybody know if there is a solution for doing this ?
Which UIX tags can be used ?
Best Regards
NavidAdd tht html namespace like
<templateDefinition xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/uix/ui" xmlns:ui="http://xmlns.oracle.com/uix/ui" xmlns:html="http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40"
targetNamespace="http://www.example.org"
Then you can add you flash contents at appropriate place.
Like
<html:OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=5,0,0,0"
WIDTH="100%" HEIGHT="100%">
<html:PARAM NAME="movie" VALUE="TLT-intro4.swf"></html:PARAM>
<html:PARAM NAME="quality" VALUE="medium"></html:PARAM>
<html:PARAM NAME="bgcolor" VALUE="#000000"> </html:PARAM>
<html:EMBED src="TLT-intro4.swf" quality="medium"
bgcolor="#000000" WIDTH="100"
HEIGHT="100"
TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash"
PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash">
</html:EMBED>
</html:OBJECT>
So you should get your flash working that way. Rest everything is same as getting it work in html.

Getting Error Message When Trying to Print
Dear All: This is Indy. Greetings!!! Well, I decided to give up on my Envy printer and go back to my Deskjet. Now, I'm getting the same message that says, "An error occurred." That's lovely, but it doesn't tell me what the error is nor how to fix it.

Apps in Library are not showing in Apps tab
I have had a few rounds of restoring my 3G and then fresh start with a 3GS phone. It's been going along well, I've been able to sync most all of my apps back onto my new phone, but there was one I wanted that I know I purchased when it was free. I se
