Flash for iPad

Hey all,
I want to create a little app for the iPad. Could anyone help me with a few questions?
Can I create a new AS3 project, or does it have to be the iPhone OS?
What should the dimensions be ideally for the iPad?
Is it fine to use multiple scenes?

Yah, I'm having the same performance issue.  Trying to do a simple PONG as proof of concept.  a) The ball moves much slower than normal, and b) It's choppy as hell with the slow motion for the bulk and quick short random speedups.
I have the GPU accelleration checked, and I've even tried three rendering methods with no improvement:
1) Typical vector style rendering of the game sprites.  Provided the slowest motion.
2) Rendering each component (ball, bats, tennis line, etc.) as individual bitmaps and then adding each directly to the stage.  Better than method 1.
3) Putting all bitmaps in to a single blit canvas and rendering that to the stage.  Same results as method 2.
Any one come up with a solution, or does a new version of the IOS packager optimized for iPad need to be put out?
Marty

IOS device do not support Flash
However Skyfire, Photon, iSwifter, Browse2Go and Puffin Web Browser will provide limited Flash capability

  • Photon Flash for iPad help

I downloaded Photon Flash for Ipad yesterday used it - no issues. Today it's wanting the latest version of flash, which I cannot download directly from Ipad and there doesn't seem to be any updates... what do I do?

Some app developers make separate apps for the iPhone and iPad. That's a developer issue. Contact the developer if you are unhappy.

  • Flash for iPad in progress

I just downloaded cloud browser for iPad although it can be used on iPad it really looks better on iPhone but it works on flash websites.

It is not actually running a browser on your device, but windowing into a remote browser based in The Cloud. Flash does work, but at a sync and frame rate that is nearly unwatchable. This would certainly work when you absolutely had to be able to view a Flash site, but is not very secure, and has very poor resolution. Navigation is also a pain.
One could get the same results from remotely connecting to their own system.

  • HT5655 Adobe Flash for iPad?

How do I get Flash movies/videos to play on my 4th gen iPad?

Adobe gave up even trying to develop a version of Flash for mobile devices over a year ago. So that's never going to happen.
What does work is using a different browser. The two most popular are the full version of Puffin, and Photon. Had there been a free version of Photon to try before buying, I never would paid for that piece of expensive junk. With Flash support turned on in its prefs, everything becomes dead snail slow. You don't even see a speed difference with Puffin.
The way both of them work is when you click on a Flash video, the clip is played on a remote server and then steamed to your iPad. Which is nice. Flash isn't using your iPad's resources to run, and they keep it up to date. It's all very transparent to the user. The Flash video plays in the spot on the web page where you expect. There's nothing weird like a separate box that opens for the video. Puffin has a free version you can try out where Flash support works for a couple of weeks.

  • Is there an alternative to flash for ipad?

I am so disapointed to find out that ipad does not support flash player...now, I cannot even access some of my favorite sites, it is beyond annoying ! Is there an alternative? Obviously, Apple does not like Flash Player but do they offer an alternative for their users ?? I wish I had known that before, I would not have bothered spending so much money on something that does not even meet my needs !

  • HT1923 Addob flash for iPad

Hi very one I need to know how do I download addob flash player for iPad 2 .
    Thank you

Impossible since Adobe, the producer of Flash, never was able to make a version for iOS, which is the operating system for the iPad. Since then Adobe has given up support for all moble platform. So you can't do it.

  • Flash for iPads

For PCs you use flash, what does apple products use that is equivelent?

On the Macs with OS X, Flash is used. It is only for iOS on iPads and iPhone where Adobe has not been able to produce a version of Flash that runs on it that you can't get Flash.
    There are alternatives see http://www.techshout.com/features/2011/01/flash-player-for-ipad-apps/

    Adobe flash for iPad

Adobe Flash is not supported for the IOS platform. One app, iSwifter, allows you to view some flash content, but not all. Also, it is a paid service (An in-app payment is required.) I do not recommend this as an alternative, but it will work, at times. Hope this answers your question.

  • Can they enable adobe flash for ipad in ios 6

    i need adobe flash!!!

Adobe has discontinued Flash on ALL mobile devices, including Android. There is no Flash that will work on a mobile device (other than a laptop).
Also, note that this forum is for the latest version of Mac OS X, and is not the right place to ask questions about iPads. There's a separate iPad forum.

  • Adobe flash for iPad Air?

How can I get my iPad Air to work with videos or apps that are made with Adobe flash?

Adobe Flash does not work on iPad.
There are other Flash Player substitutes available in the iTunes Store.  Search "Flash Player".
Here is one.  I know absolutely nothing about this particular product, and have no financial interest in it.

  • Flash for iPad down load

When I try to download flash it says I'm not comparable. Where or how is the correct way ???
    Thank you

Apple designed iOS in 2006 to be specifically incompatible with Flash. Not being sarcastic, but this isn't some new secret or "bombshell" that was dropped on iPad and iPhone users last week.
Apple was very public about not using Flash with iOS devices seven years ago.
There is not and never will be an iOS device that can run Flash.

  • How is the quality of Pic when taken at night as there is no flash for Ipad Air ?, How is the quality of Pic when taken at night as there is no flash?

Turn on all your lights and keep your hand steady; rest your hands on some solid object if possible.

  • Adobe flash player for iPad

How can I get adobe flash player for iPad

No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.
Here is Steve Jobs official comment on his momentous decision to omit Flash from iDevices: Steve Jobs on Flash.
Here is Adobe's later announcement to cease development of Flash for mobile devices: Adobe on Mobile Flash.
Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.
Apps that can display some Flash from the Web:
      1. Puffin
      2. SkyFire
      3. Photon Flash
      4. Browse2Go
      5. Swifter
Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."

Download the Facebook app from the iTunes Store. Sign in with your Facebook ID and Password and you won't require flash to play videos.
