Button problems on website in flash 8

I just started using flash, but I am getting a bit better. I
purchased a template through monster and have slowly picked up on
flash. Here is my problem and forgive if I use incorrect
terminology or seem ignorant...
I have a page on my site that has 4 buttons on each
side...movie clip over a button...looks like a bar with a small
arrow movie clip on the end. I am sure you know what I mean. When
you roll the mouse pointer over the page it obviously is supposed
go through its actions and alert user there is a link. If I put my
code on the movie clip, you have to move the mouse over the arrow
to show the link. If I put my code on the button layer, it causes
all 8 of the buttons to have the same action/link and if I change
one it changes all.
What am I doing wrong? I can't seem to figure it out. Here is
the code...

Creating a simple Flash Website - Button Problems

I am totally new to this. Please be as detailed as possible.
I do not know anything.
I'm building a website using this basic model (

I tested the tutorial to become familiar with it.
However, I want to use custom buttons that I made in
Photoshop as links to the other pages in the website. The tutorial
I'm using only demonstrates the use of components and parameters.
How would I go about doing the same thing but with my own buttons?
I've imported them as TIFF. Is that correct? Do I need to make them
into symbols? And even then, how do I link them to the pages?
Can you please help me or direct me to an useful tutorial
that can better explain the process?

Which version of Flash/actionscript are you using? Since you
are just starting out, you should read one of Adobe's tutorials on
the matter. Either use Flash Help to find examples on how to use
Flash or go to their website. Here is a great tutorial for someone
just starting out. Make sure you read all three tutorials in "Using
Flash for the first time".

FLASH and Co only via download?

hi friends
mostly I use my computer with my premiere elements 13 offline.
but when I try to make exports for the internet on this maschine,( my private website where I will show my hollidayvideos) I cant do th exports/publishings cause premiere
needs to go online. did I make mistakes while installing it? why cant export/publish -for example flash- in offline mode?
my idea was to take the footage from the camera, edit it, export it to my harddisk, and when I am back home, than I will load it up the my website. seems to be a nogo?
hope that there is a solution. if it is a feature, that premiere elements doesnt have all options and can only do the job when online with ADOBE, then I realy have a problem.
but I cant beleive that, ADOBE must tell this prior to sell to the customer if the product doesnt work in offline mode with all features.

today I will check the free flash konverter, but this file needs AVI!my weekend will become exciting....I am downloading some more free stuff.
and next time when I go to holliday maybe I take another option with my camera.I was so proud that this little thing does that realy good looking fullHDs, so I filmed the two months in Portuagal in this format.
and -by the way- the Toshiba TV of my doughter also doesnt play the clips from the cam!!
my Samsung and our Computers does!
and it realy lookes great 1920x1080 60p!
the sound from the cam is unusable, on the Algarve Cliffs there was a strong wind - I do the sound on my computer, ..

I see the menue-point to publish to an private website. I thought this would give me a file which I can upload with my upüload-tool for my website later and first check it offline.
but I cant export/publish or whatever, cause the prog always wants to connect to ADOBE.and -sometimes I am in my mobilhome or at home and there it collides with my firewall.it doesnt connect to youtube, ist ADOBE - I can see this!

what ever I try the connection is always to ADOBE, everytime! (tried several times..and I can watch what the program does!) this is NOT a first time activation, looks like that they want give away the codec.
for 5.1 (AAC) your first help was sufficient, I could made the mp4 with a 6-channel AAC, but cant mix the channels in PREMIERE.
and I make the sound in channelorder for AC3 5.1, the channel with AAC are in different order as you know.so I cant use it....
its stripping down my too high expectations, PREMIERE Elements is just for cutting off the unwanted parts of a clip or doing some transitions or assemble some takes together - thats all.
this weekend I start testing VirtualDub and the other freeware programs. and I will write to see how VEGAS works.VirtualDub does cooperate with AFTEN - my AC3 encoder, anyway I am very sceptical, and there should be a programm called DIRECTOR anything, I have to search for this..they say it supports AC3 (hahaha) and exports for internet use...(LOL)

Link button dissappears

Hi all
i have a sapboui form with link buttons. when i click over a link button. i handle the click evet and open a new sapboui form.
after closing the form. the link buttons dissapear from the main form.
what could be causing this problem?

Hi Yoav,
The linked buttons have to be "linked" to one field. As I understand you're not using the linked button in a standard way, so what you can try is to link it to a "dummy" field, like a text field with the value 1, and of course make it not visible. That's because the behavior of the link button is to be visible when its linked item has a value.

I have used flash for developing the course. I have tested it
for Chinese It looks great on flash player 6,7 and 8 but I am
shocked to see that it give some garbage value in flash player 9.
Don’t know this is a bug of player or what?

Thanks for the helpful posting. I came searching here for advice because I could not get my Flash Player 9 installation to succeed using the trouble-shooting information provided on the Adobe web site, and from experience I have come to know that my best resource in trouble-shooting is to seek the help of other Mac users.
In following your instructions I discovered that "Enable Flash" was not checked in my preferences, so that was definitely part of the problem. However, I still could not get Flash Player 9 to work, so after doing a Google search I found a posting on Version Tracker (under feedback at the bottom of this page: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/11622 ) that provided the last little bit of instruction I needed to get Flash Player 9 to function properly.
Before attempting to install Flash Player 9 I had used Adobe's uninstaller to uninstall previous versions, as instructed on the Adobe website. However, AFTER repairing my disk permissions, I needed to restart the computer and run the uninstaller again. After uninstalling I restarted once more, ran the installer and, VOILA!, finally Flash Player 9 worked as it should.

How to add buttons with links to different pages in my flash document?

Hi I created a template for my flash animation which is a simple content box and a scroll bar beside it.. Anyway at the top I also have 3 pages (they are currently just part of the png background image so they are not buttons of any sort).. My question is how can I make links to these different pages so when clicked in the flash animation they will just open normally like they would in like a website..
I am a flash beginner so I'm not too technical with it... I don't know if I would have to create 3 seperate documents for my 3 pages or something else?

Do you expect the loaded SWF to load "into" the SWF that contains the buttons or are you expecting it to overwrite the existing SWF you're already in (similar to a web page)?
Loading a SWF inside is pretty straight forward, as long as the SWF is on the same domain or the domain you're loading from has a crossdomain.xml policy allowing it and the SWF is set to publish with the networking sandbox:

Season to taste, like moving the position of the Loader object. The Loader will contain the SWF in the .content property (e.g. myLoader.content) and is a display object so you can just add it directly to the display list.
If you add a second button you can re-use the myLoader to .load() a different SWF, just point it to a new function. You could re-use the same function but you'd need to detect the different buttons (possibly via the .name property). I presume you might want to do "different things" when different pages are loaded so I'm assuming you'd probably use a different function rather than make a huge reused branching function.

I am trying to link a different URL to each of my files in XML and use this XML in Flash were I created a carousel. In the carousel, when you click on a picture I would like to insert a specific URL. Each picture will have a different URL (http://------------).

You should be able to add that data into your xml tags and then extract it in the AS2 onLoad function...

Linking button from one flash file to a different flash file

Hi All,
Wondering if anyone knows how to link buttons in one flash
file to open a specific scene of an entirely different flash file?
If it isn't possible to choose a specific scene, is there a way to
just open a flash file...in the same browser window, but not within
the flash file...if that makes sense?
I'm putting this on a website, so additionally, I will need
to know which file to link it to, the swf, html, or fla.

I would advise against using scenes for your website. You
would need to create a separate html which would load the second
swf file within the same browser window.

I was informed via Secunia that I needed to update Flash Player and then was given link to do so.

After going into Adobe to see if I was installed correctly I found that the program was installed and I had the new version 10.0.45.2.   When I try to play a game that I have been playing for months, I get the message that I need Flash Player version 8 or above.   What am I doing wrong and what do I need to do now?

What confuses me is that most of not all of the dates say 1/26/10. Doesn't give a date of yesterday when I did Flash Player for Firefox. Is that normal?
Bottom line -- I can now do the games in Firefox that I haven't been able to play since I installed Firefox. Wouldn't let me play some other video files as well.
I am still unable to do slow scrolling in e-mail or other webpages when I make the page full screen. that is only in Comcast and not AOL. It must be a Comcast problem so will have to get in touch with them.
Let me know if all my files in Flash are okay.

Hypertext link from image loaded via xml

I thought this would be easy but for some reason it's not
working.
What I want to accomplish:
Make an image loaded into my textArea via XML a link. I
thought I could do something like this:

Thanks for your reply. Turns out it is a bug with the Flash 7
player. The code works fine in the Flash 8 and 9 player. I guess
this was a reminder that I should look for the simple things first.
