Flash MX2004 Loader Component Question

Hi all,
I have a question regarding the loader component that ships
with Flash MX 2004. I am using the component to load .swf files. As
far as I can tell, the component will not begin to play a .swf file
until it is 100% loaded. Is this correct? If not, is there any way
to make it play as it is downloading? This IS possible with the
MovieClipLoader class but I currently have a complex application
built using the loader component.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it.
Additionally, I could extend the class if anyone can point me in
the direction of what would need to be changed in the class.
Thanks,
John

I'm only trying to interpret what that message is telling me in this response.  It seems to be indicating that you have some object in the library that you have named "calLoader" and assigned it a linkage ID of Loader (possibly by default) as well as another object in the library named myLoader that has the same linkage ID (possibly by default).
If these two objects are the same component type, then you only need one of them in the library.  The different naming of them can be managed on the stage.

Can I have two loader components in one flash file (my main web page)  I have a main loader for my pages to load into when the corresponding button is clicked.  I need to add a second one for a small .swf file of a interactive calendar.  So I guess I need another loader .  I tried to add another loader to my main flash page and it said something like this component is in use or has same name.  I looked in my library and changed the name of my other loader to myLoader and it is still giving this wierd error.  Is is possible to use the Loader component twice in one flash document?   I also don't have them in the first frame of my document because I have an animation that plays through first.

  • AS 2.0 Loader component question

I have a site that has a gallery with 40 images, takes a long
time to load so I need to find the best way to correct. The files
that load manually now are movieclips that play in 10 second frames
in their own timeline with an alpha effect on each all the jpgs and
other files are in the main fla which is huge because of this. I
was going to use the loader component but I see you can only use
for .jpgs and I can't put the effect on jpgs, other obvious way is
using loadMovie but then I have to convert all mc's to separate
swfs. Before I go that route is there another way to do this?

  • Flash Loader Component

    Hello,
I'm trying to load an external image (JPG) that is 5000 by
    300 Pixels.
The Loader component seems to be cropping the image at about
    3300 by 300.
    Is this the max size?
If so is there a work around ?
Else then why will it crop at this size when it is not being
    specified anywhere?
Please Advise this is a time crtical question.

the max size is 2880, anything beyond that size will cause
    problems.

Yes, cut content into smaller parts, load it and put it up
    together into one.

  • Speaking of Flash - Loading sequence question

At my site the Flash videos -ARE- the content. I will be
    pointing a limited
number of people at it and want it to load quickly and play
    without
    incident.
    http://www.subversive-entertainment.com/
I've noticed that in some cases all of the <div> tags
    load and then the
Flash loads in the background. In other cases, the
    <div> at the bottom of
the page doesn't load until the Flash videos finish.
Is the only sure fix to place all other content above the
    Flash video divs?
Also, the Flash videos load, but the red 'stop' button is
    ghosted out, so
you can't stop the download. Is there a setting to make the
    'stop' button
available, or is that just the nature of Flash video?
    Thanks,
    TW

Yes, loading all content before your flash div would be idea,
    if you're not
    placing them relatively.

  • I got a flashing folder with a question mark. I got a new hard drive and upgraded to 4 gigs and can't open anything or reload the operating system? Help?

I got a flashing folder with a question mark. I got a new hard drive and upgraded to 4 gigs and can't open anything or reload the operating system? Help? FYI: I have been using boot camp with windows 7 and started getting a kernal_data_Page_error and it would reboot windows, i was trying to do a chkdsk on the next reboot, but thats when i started getting this issue. I have put in a new hard drive and went from 2 gigs to 4. I can not get the computer to do anything, even the monitor does not show anything now????

    Prep your new drive:
    Drive Preparation
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs,) then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
After formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Install OS X.

  • How do I get rid of the flashing file with a question mark in it?

I wanted to start clean on my MacBook Pro osx 10.9.4. So I did the command r and erased what I thought was the right one. I restarted my computer and did the command r again and what came up was internet recovery. It can't find my internet because it's WEP and I don't know to change it to wpa. So I restarted my computer again and I didn't do the command r but just let it load itself to see what would happen and all I get is a flashing file with a question mark. I don't know what to do. Someone please help me.

    Do you get this display?
If so, you have to select an Internet connection.  Do not expect quick response time in this mode.  All activities in this mode will be lengthy.
    Ciao.

  • Have a flashing folder with a question mark on start-up but cannot hold option as wireless keyboard won't connect, how do I get it to connect if I cannot turn on the machine?

Hello all, I've registered here because I can't work out how to get my keyboard and mouse to connect.
The issue is that when I turn my mid-2010 iMac on it doesn't load up, but instead shows a flashing folder with a question mark. I've Googled this and have some idea how to fix it, the first step in all guides to fixing the problem states that you should hold the option key upon start-up. The problem I'm having is that I've just had to change the batteries on my keyboard and mouse and they are now not connecting. I can't see how to get the keyboard and mouse connected with the Mac stuck on the flashing folder screen, and I can't get the Mac past said screen without using the keyboard. Does anyone know how I can connect the two devices?
    Thanks.

The flashing folder with the ? mark indicates that a bootable system can't be found. You'll need to borrow a wired keyboard so you can boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down). From there you can reinstall the system and try a normal reboot.

  • MacBook Pro flashes file folder with question mark and startup manager will not run

My son's MacBook Pro won't boot (gets the flashing file folder with question mark).  When I try to open startup manager (holding "option" key during boot does not do it).  Other posts suggest inserting the install disk, but I am pretty sure that for Lion, there was no disk, it was just off the website through the App Store.  Any further suggestions?

Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • When I start my Mac air I get a flashing folder with a question mark

I am trying to start my Mac air and I get a flashing folder with a question mark. When I turn the power of it shuts down but wen starting it comes back

Just being clear about your situation.  When you hold down Option during boot it does not show a system volume or a recovery volume from which to boot.  At that point if you select a network boot and you do not see a spinning globe that persists there a good while as it loads the recovery partition over the network.  True?
A couple of more thinks to try:
Disconnect all of your external devices.
    Reset PRAM
Boot with the option key again.
Standard things to try (which is sounds like you already have attempted) A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac

  • White box under Loader Component

I am using the Loader Component to load my images as they are
    viewed in my file.
Most of my images are ok, but some have a white box
    underneath of them.
I'll have an image that is like 300 pixels wide and 100 tall,
but it looks like a 100 wide by 200 tall white box is behind the
image. It does this with random images using the Loader COmponent.
any ideas what is up or how to fix it?

weird solution. i copied all of my keyframes into a new
document and when testing the movie the box problem does not
    appear.
    is flash got bugs?

  • Loader component problem

This should be a simple problem. I want to use the flash
loader component to load pictures. I drag the loader onto the
stage. Type the pic name in the parameters and save them in the
same folder but nothing comes up? I'm using flash 8. Do I have
setting wrong or something?I have a video tutorial on how to do
this and I follow it eactly but it doesn't work.

    Just a quick checklist.
    1. is the Loader control set to AutoLoad = true?
    2. are you sure the instance name of your Loader is
    contentLoader?
    3. if you type in the contentPath property in the parameters
    window does it work then?

  • LOADER COMPONENT ISSUE

I noticed that when using the Loader component in Flash 8 -
    the following issue:
I have a thumbnail gallery that uses the Loader component to
    view the large image.
when i view the site in fire fox it works perfectly (scaling
the content and centering it within the loader component shape)
but when i view it in IE - no scaling or centering occurs!!??
any idea why this is happening and how i can rectify
    it?

Hey why don't you try adjusting the permissions and hot
linking protection on your servers control panel? This might be the
    problem.

  • UI Loader Component causing delay in preloader

    Hi All-
I would really appreciate if you could help me with this
    issue.
I have a preloader in the first scene. In the next scene is
my main movie, in which I have a UI Loader Component. I've
unchecked "export in first frame" in the linkage options for the UI
loader, but "export for Action Script" is still checked.
The problem is, when I do a "simulate download" my preloader
will not show on screen until it's about 15% loaded already. I'm
assuming this is because the "export for Action Script" for the UI
loader is still on, but the loader obviously won't work without
    that option checked...
Is there any way to fix this??
I'm still new to Flash so please bear with me...

Thnx for the response Ned, I did do that. First inside of flash with control>test movie. The file worked so I brought onto the DW page and tested in Firefox. Didnt work.
