Flash not activating

Hello, A user asked why can't I see any flash site? I logged
into the desktop via logmein found flash was not installed.
Installed 10 and Shockwave 11 in IE6 still no love. Loaded Firefox
loaded the plugins, nothing. Loaded Chrome, nothing. In IE6 I right
click the flash page it says About Adobe Flash Player 10... Can't
say it ever worked or didn't nobody ever report such and issue. Ran
Spybot came up clean except for a few cookies. Any ideas!

try getting internet explorer 7.
Uninstall then install flash plug-in.
GET A BETTER COMPUTER (jk)
Try going into control panel then internet options. set the
security to medium. Enable javascript.
Also, what is the OS?

Hello there,
I have designed a few Flash websites now and for some reason
with Internet Explorer's update awhile back with Active content the
user now has to click to start using and interacting with the
embedded flash. I have designed 3 sites. Two of which have this
problem in Internet Explorer. One of which works fine. I don't
under stand why? The one that doesn't work is here
(www.bourdodesigns.com). The one that does work is here
(www.scotbarchitects.com). I haven't done anything that is specific
to this problem on the one that works.
I have been to Adobes help page and tried installing the .js
active content update and the flash extension but that didn't work.
I might be doing it wrong. Can anyone help me? Thanks so much,

Firefox works now but IE still does not work...
I stated in my OP that I already disabled active x filtering that is not my problem, i also have the latest version of flash installed.
When I go to IE and go to manage add ons Shockwave player does not show in the Currently loaded add ons, but if I change the category to "All Addons" I can see

Flash Player movies not activating in Internet Explorer

I had Internet Explorer 6.0 and now 7.0... same thing occurs
in both programs... PROBLEM: I have a very simple webpage with
Flash Buttons for navigation. When I load the page in IE, the
buttons are NOT activated. When I put my mouse over the control, a
message reads... "Click to activate and use this control". I have
tried to ENABLE every ActiveX control option I can find in IE
settings to allow Flash Player to run as an add-on. I have deleted
Flash Player and reloaded the page, it asks me to install Flash 9.0
which I have done. But when I load the webpage... the controls are
not active till I click on them to activate then I have to click
again for the navigation. I AM TOTALLY DUMBFOUNDED and pulling my
hair out to get these controls to work. They work fine in
FireFox... The HTML code is correct for the Object & Embed
tags. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!! It would be greatly appreciated!

This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
Firefox (from Mozilla)
Opera (from Opera)
Safari (from Apple)
Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

Flash not working in Safari 5

Flash has been buggy for me in Safari 5, ever since I updated the Flash player last week to "10.1 r53". Either Flash files don't play at all, or just the audio plays without video.
Per the instructions on these boards, I have:
1. reset Safari
2. uninstalled flash player
3. installed the flash player
4. repaired permissions
5. restarted
The issue is still there. Firefox plays Flash files, YouTube, etc. just fine. Safari does not.
I'm running SL 10.6.4, latest Software Updates.
Any suggestions?

I created a new account. Flash works in the new account. That's cool, but I really don't want to re-locate all my prefs, etc., just for a buggy plugin.
So, I next...
1. grabbed the Safari plist from the new account
2. logged out of the new account
3. logged into the old account (where Flash does not work)
4. moved the old account's com.apple.safari plist file out of the Preferences folder
5. moved the clean Safari plist file (from the new account) into the Preferences folder
6. reset and restarted Safari
7. Flash worked...for about two minutes. I tested on YouTube, Vimeo and Google Analytics. Back to Flash not working in Safari.
I then tried repeating the earlier steps.
1. reset Safari
2. uninstall flash player
3. install flash player
4. repaired permissions
5. restarted
Still doesn't work.
Just one other thing to note: whenever I pull up a web page with Flash, I get a "file not found" error in Safari's activity monitor (link is below)...could this be an error with Adobe's website rather than a Safari-permission thing?

I have a first generation Time Capsule, which long ago I set the LED to flash on activity. I happen to like that setting. Alot. Lets me visually diagnose that our broadband connection has croaked (again). I just bought a 4th generation Time Capsule. The manual indicates I can set the LED to flashing, and obviously, once upon a time I knew how. I check the base station pane, where I am supposed to be able to set this. AND THERE IS NO FREAKING OPTION TO SET BLINKING. Sorry. Frustrated here.
Checked with both 6.1 and 5.6 versions of the airport utility.
So. Are the manuals full of excrement, or did Apple mess up and remove a function many of us really, really, really liked?

I have no issues..
If you are running 5.6 utility in ML.. go to manual setup and airport settings.. still works fine.
Click on options
If you do not have the option even in 5.6 utility, downgrade the firmware on the TC to 7.5.2
Then it should work.

I really need Adobe Flash 9 Active X, but when I try to install it, error message shows up. I uninstalled newest adobe flash 11, but stil no results.

It is recommended that you remove older versions of Flash
Player (unless they are needed for developer testing) when
deploying the new MSI.
There is a known issue when attempting to uninstall using the
current MSI version 9.0.124.0. It will not completely remove all
entries in the system registry. This will be addressed for a future
release of Flash Player.
You can include the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller in your
deployment process. The uninstaller can be downloaded from here:

Memory leak found in flash player active-x 'CallFunction' method.

I think I found a memory leak that results from calling the flash player active-X object's method 'CallFunction'. Each time this method is called it seems that memory is not properly freed.
I'm attaching here a simple program I've made with C# that uses the shockwave flash object to load a SWF and continuously perform calls to it using the 'CallFunction'. It also displays the process memory so you can see how it's being increased after some time running.
In the zip file, under the bin/release directory, you'll find the compiled executable and both the test SWF (CallFunctionTest.swf) and its source (AS3 file) which is just a dummy Sprite that exposes a callable method using the ExternalInterface. The SWF has been compiled using Flex compiler (Version 3.3.0 build 4852).
The leak may become more visible after some hours running. Also, it's interesting to note that even by reloading the SWF without closing the application (by stopping and restarting the stress in my test application) the memory is not freed.
As a reference, in my computer (Intel Dual core E2180 @ 2Ghz) the test application's virtual memory (VM64) increased from 192MB to 480MB in 4 hours. In Windows XP 32-bit when this value reaches 2GB the process runs out of memory and the application crashes.
Does anyone experienced the same problem?
I have Flash Player version 10,0,32,18 installed.

I found this problem recently.
I embedded Flash in my Visual C++ project through ActiveX, and intensively call
ShockwaveFlashObjects::IShockwaveFlash::CallFunction().
It seems that every time I invoke this function, the memory usage of my program increase about 8kB, and never goes back again. I think this is caused by the internal memory leak in Flash.
Does adobe have any plan to fix this issue?

Ever since the latest OS X update, my apps flash from active to inactive every few seconds.

Since the last OS X update 10.10.3, my apps flash from active to inactive and back again. It happens with all of my open applications, and it keeps me from typing accurately because the app, flashes to inactive while I am trying to type.

When you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
          SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Switch DSL to cable modem causes Time Capsule "Flash on Activity" nonstop?

I recently switched from DSL to Cable internet. After I switched, the green light on the Time Capsule CONSTANTLY flashes -- as if there's constant activity. The Time Capsule was set to "Flash on Activity" when it was attached to the previous DSL modem and it only flashed when there was obvious activity. Now it flashes constantly green -- even when all devices are turned off.
I have ruled out anyone lurking on my wifi. Even after resetting the wireless password, the green light again immediately starts flashing constantly.
I've searched and searched the Internets for anyone with a similar issue, but have yet to find one.
Should I be concerned? Should I just let it flash? I like to see when there's activity on the Time Capsule, but now watching it flash all the time just makes me paranoid.
P.S. It also does the same thing when hooked up to an 802.11n AirPort.

You should be OK. Not all of it is break-in attempts. A lot of it is just your neighbors' computers sending packets to advertise that they have a file share open. Or a printer. Before I got a router/firewall, I was really surprised at how many people had wide open file shares or shared printers. And some traffic will be from Comcast, too.
I'm not sure if I'm port forwarding. I just have a typical Time Capsule wifi setup.
You probably aren't if you're not sure. It's definitely not set up that way out of the box. Port forwarding would be if you wanted to allow a server on a computer inside your home network. I forward a port so I can log into the UNIX shell on my computer from my work.
The main two things you want to look at are to open the AirPort Utility and look at the "AirPort" section's "Time Capsule" page. There's a checkbox for "Allow setup over WAN." You want that to be unchecked (blank). And if you go to the "Advanced" page, under "Logging & Statstics" there's a setting for "Allow SNMP" and a sub-setting for "Allow SNMP over WAN." It's most critical that "Allow SNMP over WAN" also be unchecked (blank). Those two settings could allow someone from outside your home network to mess with the Time Capsule. The other thing is to make sure you have a good password both to join the network and to actually administer your Time Capsule.
The thing that confuses me the most about the flashing on activity issue is that millions of people have comcast cable internet and I assume many thousands use a Time Capsule or an Airport for wifi and yet I have been completely unable to find any mention of anyone having this same problem.
I've seen it mentioned in cable-modem specific forums, like the Comcast forums or DSL Reports. I've had a cable modem for close to 15 years. For the first couple of years, I didn't see the activity light blink like it does now. But that changed not long after I got the cable modem, maybe when they replaced an old one with a different brand.
I remember seeing quite a few posts about it then, but I suppose people just got used to it after a while. And it's not limited to the Time Capsule: I've had three or four other firewall/router devices from other manufacturers, and they all had the blinking activity lights, too.

If you are including the modem here, then you have an internal issue within the Time Capsule.
If not, now you know that the cable company is always sending stuff down the line. You might want to consider setting the light back to Always On, knowing that it will be flashing constantly anyway.

Have you opened Photoshop or any other Adobe app that Bridge works with? You need to do this if you've upgraded PS or just signed up for CC.

Error: "Component is not active" but component is active

Hi Experts,
I transported a Web Dynpro application from source system to target system. When starting the application via browser I'm getting this error message:
"Component XXX_BDB is not active"
But the component is active in source and in target system. When I try to activate the component in target system there comes this error:
Component XXX_BDB can't be generated because of errors: see long text.
(Message no. SWDP_WB_TOOL100)
According to the long text, there is a heavy error and I should check the component in order to eliminate the errors. Checking the syntax is OK and strangely, the component controller is also active. But when I want to start WebDynpro-Component, the error message "Component is not active" is displayed.
I have checked this thread [Problems when activating ComponentController |Problems when activating ComponentController; without any effect....
Does someone have any ideas?

where can I check the generation load limit?
I've done an extended syntax check (in source system, is that okay or should I do the check on both systems?), there are some errors regarding strings, field properties and structure extensions and some warnings regarding field properties.
But this errors are on an other wd component as well, but this other component is running, so I'm not sure if these errors are crucial. However I'm going to fix the errors now.
Baskaran, I will check the component controller and component usage as well but how can I identify the errors or should I just check it in general?
And what about the fact that both applications are running on the source system?
Additional info: the source system is ECC 6.0, the target system is Solution Manager 7.0

Iphone 4 camera flash not working.

Iphone 4 camera flash not working when taking pictures but works with the flashlight app. I have ios 7. Tried factory reset. My wife has the same problem with her iphone 4 since the first month she has had it. Any suggestions?

and what have you done to try and fix the situation? Have you taken the steps recommended in the User Guide?
