Flash paper with flex application

hi, i m flex develper and can any one tell me how can i
convert programmatically the doc file onto a .swf file and display
the content of .docfile into flex component?

Flash (swf) Files had a built in option to be exported as class files way back during Flash 2.0's heyday. Macromedia opened up the swf format quite a while ago. You can probably use Java|C++ to create an swf if you really wanted to. There is a PHP package called Ming that with produce swf's on the fly (similar to Macromedia's generator). As far as scripting a flash obj(swf), you can do that with Javascript from an HTML page, but this isn't the place for that information.

I do not believe this is possible to do with a browser based application.
But, if you run your app in AIR you can do use the Flash.filesystem
class to create a directory:

Using UI Automation Framework to interact with Flex applications

Hi all,
I created a small flash app using Flex builder 4.
I am writing a tool to interact with flash applications using UI Automation Framework which is similar to UI Spy. I've read in so many forums that accessibility can be done using UI Automation or MSAA.
Using the tool, I am able to get all the fields that are present in the application. (button, text, edit fields etc). Now, I want to use InvokePattern on buttons from my tool so that, if I click "Invoke" in my tool, the associated button will be clicked in the flash app. Here, I find no issues to do anything.
But, if there is a textinput field on the flash application and I use ValuePattern of UI Automation to set some value in the field using SetValue(), then I am getting
"System.InvalidOperationException"
even when I tried simple SetFocus() on to that field, I am getting the same exception Looks like, I cannot interact with flash text fields in the same way I do with other window's fields.
I used UISpy and other tools to see if they are doing any better with setting values on a text field. But, they too failed with same exception.
Can someone tell me why this is failing? Does flex/flash support UI Automation to this extent? Are there any examples or links that can help me here?

I downloaded flex sdk to see if there is anything that will help me. But, In flex sdk, I cannot find anything that would ease my path. I want to stick to developing in C# to talk to Flash applications. What is the best way to proceed? Are there any sdks that I can download and use for C# development to interact with the flex controls? What is the way to go? I seem not to find any good hits in the web as well

Flash Video in flex Applications

I'm working on making a web cast template for my clients in
flex and I'd like to do the entire template in flex, however, I'm
not sure about the best way to go about importing flash video into
a flex application. Is it the same as flash 8? Does it include all
the automatic play controls that flash 8 offered?
The flv will be delivered via progressive download.

Using flash debugger player with Flex application

I am building my first Flex app and have run into a problem that I can't figure out. When publishing a .swf in Flash I sometimes run the debugger to generate the swf. When I do so, I can view the swf through my browser (using the debugger version of flash player) and the exceptions that are thrown include a stack trace (complete with line numbers) of any error that occurred. I have tried running the debug compiled version of my swf from Flex and it does not show the line numbers.
Is there some way to do this? I have several thousand lines and the location of the error is tough to figure out becuase it is an instance where I am casting an event to the wrong type through my typed params for a function. So, for example, I am dispatching a MouseEvent but the listener function has a typed parameter of Event instead.
Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Thanks for the feedback. Our debugger documentation definitely needs to be refreshed. The PPAPI debugger on Chrome is even more complex. I blocked some time out on my calendar for Friday to try and get these revised.

Interaction Flash Lite with another applications

Flash Paper Toolbar Buttons

I use Flash Paper 2 regularly to print documents from
Microsoft Access. In Word and Excel there is a toolbar button for
Flash Paper but none in Access, and there is nothing available in
the list of tools to add to a custom Access toolbar.
Is there any way to get a toolbar button for Flash Paper in
other applications such as Access?

Thanks Urami! This worked. However, there is still one set of
buttons that still don’t work. These buttons are programmed
to open a new window that is a specific size and has all the
toolbars and menu bars turned off. The html page that opens in the
window contains an swf file that runs a video.
Again, it works perfectly over the Internet or when I test
the html page from Dreamweaver on my PC, but the window will not
open when the button is pressed if the program is running from a
CD.
This program was originally created with Studio MX 2004 with
Flash Professional. With that version, the CD worked on Windows
2000 PCs but not Windows XP. We re-published the entire program
with Flash Professional 8. Once I fixed the file names as you
suggested, everything works except the buttons that open a child
window. Now these buttons in the Version 8 program don’t work
on a CD running on Windows 2000 either.

I got this html code out of a reference book several years
ago and we use it all the time to open child windows from parent
windows.
I tried other code that I got out of an ActionScript book and
from the Help files, but I can’t get any of it to work at all
(not even from Dreamweaver).
Do you have any other suggestions for opening a specifically
sized child window that will run a Flash movie?

J'ai converti mes fichiers pdf en flash paper 2 format swf :
ça au moins c'est très facile !
Méthode: - Ouvrir un fichier pdf
- Aller à la fonction imprimer
- Choisir l'imprimante qui est Flash Paper 2 et pouf !, tout
ce fait automatiquement.
- On choisit le format de fichier, .swf ou pdf. que l'on
désire.
Bon tout est beau jusqu'à ce point mais là...
J'ai un document flash déjà créer avec un
menu déroulant et des clips divers associés aux
différents boutons du menu déroulant. J'ai besoin
d'importer un de ces fichiers converti en flash paper dans mon
application flash et je n'y arrive pas.
Dans aide Flash paper 2, il y a une page de code à ce
qu'il faut faire pour arriver à importer un fichier flash
paper dans flash. J'avoue que je n'y comprend pas grand chose. Je
ne suis pas vraiment une programmeuse. Voici le code, si quelqu'un
pourrait m'expliquer ce que ça veut dire et à quel

Flex has a very limited support for HTML, thus you cannot
create a full featured editor within flex. The only work arounds I
have seen are done using IFRAME's over your app.
Not sure if it an option, however Apollo does a good job of
addressing this issue by allowing full feature Javascript and HTML.

Flash Paper 2 & Document Map

I'm trying to find a solution which enables PDF files to be
converted to Flash Paper with some form of navigation (Same as or
similar to the Document Map function in Word). Unfortunately the
Document Map function doesn't work with PDF files. My current
method of converting PDF to Word using a converter programme is not
effective enough. Adobe are saying this isn't a priority for them
and no updates are scheduled in the near future. Has anyone found
solution for this?

me have download the trial version of flex, and found it seem
more focus on coding and exclude the drawing things which similar
to Flash.

With flex you need to envoke the filereference function save. Because of the security sandbox you can not programmatically save files or create folders, you need to open a windows file browse box then the user can create a folder or save a file.

Integratio of OPM with Flex

How can I integrate My oracle policy modelling project or rules with Flex Application.We r Trying to make similar type of project which has been given under OPM Example (Social Sevices) but in Adobe Flex.
Till now i have written rules in oracle policy modelling then through policy modellinhg only i generated web services and trying to call in flex.
But still i am not clear with how this can be achieved,which operation can be usefull for me for sending response from flex to oracle rule engine.
Can you explain me the process step by step nd guide me for this project.
Is my Approach is correct?
It would be great Help if you clear my doubts regarding integration of OPM with Flex.

There are two ways of accessing the engine.
The first way is accessing the engine through the Java or .NET API. In order to do this Flex will need to be able to make direct calls to Java or .NET.
The second way is through the Determinations Server Web Service. The Determinations Server is specifically designed to provide a coarse grained access to the Rule engine, through SOAP/XML over HTTP. The Assess service provide a stateless way of making determinations (ie - data in --> answer out). The Interview service provides a way of creating a more stateful experience (ie, create a session, add/modify data, get screens to answer questions)
If Flex can call Java or .NET APIs directly then, you can use the engine API, otherwise you will have to run the determinations server as a remote web application and access, the engine through the Assess or Interview service.
It looks like Flex definitely has support for calling web services, which would suggest that the Determiantions Server approach would work. A quick google for Flex, Java and .NET looks like access to Java and .NET is always done through web services.

Using new ColdFusion8 Features with Flex

I've read that ColdFusion 8 has new enhancements for
developers using ColdFusion Flash Remoting with FLEX that are
supposed to make our lives a lot easier, like being able to return
a cfquery directly to FLEX. I'd really like to try out some of
these new features, but cannot find any documentation or examples
of how to use them. The Developer Center has lots of examples for
ColdFusion MX and FLEX2, but where are the FLEX2 and CF8
integration examples? Does anyone know where I might be able to
find some?

Unexpected behaviour for flex application running on Mac 10.8 with Flash player 12 on Safari

I have scenario here : I am running my flex application in my Mac 10.8 machine with Flash player 12 on Safari browser . I have a registration form and it is validating various fields in it and when I hit Continue button it is not navigating to the next screen even if all the fields are validated. This registration form is a Popup. Can any body help me with this?
