Flash Player skips 1st frame in IE

Hi Everyone,
This one striked me yesterday. I had to go back a few years to start doing some AS2 stuff again.
I'm doing a very simple interactive screens. The timeline has 5 frames, each one with some MovieClips with "onRelease" events associated and some animations... very simple.
I'm publishing it has FP7 & AS2 (mandatory)
Surprisingly everything went fine from start to finnish, even on testing.
But when I was delivering this test version, something weird happened. I have Chrome by default has my browser, and I also tested with Firefox. On these two it works fine. The problem is when you test on IE.
In this browser the SWF skips to the second frame and stops when it loads, acting normal again. I can go back to the first frame and everything looks good.
At the beggining of each frame I have a stop(), and there's no other gotoAndStop events unless on buttons, nothing is triggered by actionscript.
I had the 10.2.159.1 version and upgraded to 11.0.1.152 (the latest)... the problem persists.
Meanwhile a simple timeout seems on 1st frame seems to solve the problem, but I wonder if this is a bug with AS2 on Flash Player specially on IE?
Have anyone of you experienced this? Any solutions besides the setting a timeout?
Cheers,
Leonel

Sorry, but I can't do it since this is non published commercial product.
What I can give you are snippets of the code I have.
On the first frame I have something like this:
stop();
/* These lines prevent from this happening */
_root._visible = (_root.vflag == undefined) ? false : true;
setTimeout(function(){_root._visible = true;_root.vflag = true;_root.gotoAndStop(1);}, 1000);
/* At some point I have navigation buttons that have this code associated */
navigation.navRight.onRelease=function(){
          gotoAndStop(2);
navigation.navRight.onRollOver=function(){
          navigation.navRight.arrow.gotoAndStop(2);
navigation.navRight.onRollOut=function(){
          navigation.navRight.arrow.gotoAndStop(1);
And that's it. The 2nd frame and so on are very similar just don't have the timeout lines at the beggining.
For the look of it it seems like a Flash Player issue, but it only happens on IE.
Thanks.

  • Flash player skips to a green screen when fast forwarding video OSX 10.8.2

    Right so I have searched the forum and found a few threads about flash videos generally being a green screen, but nothing there helped my problem, nor did it seem similar. I have a 15" MacbookPro Retina running OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2, my flash player is up to date, and so are my graphics drivers.
    My problem is whenever I view a flash video, and I want to click ahead to a later point (i.e skip some of the video) then all I get is either a completely green screen or just pink and green noisy rubbish and nonsense video artefacts. The sound however continues to play fine from the point that I have skipped to. And also this happens regardless of the buffering of the video, If it is all fully buffered it still goes rubbishy as soon as I click ahead to skip, but if I just let videos play through they are fine to the end. html5 video plays fine, everything else on my system works flawlessly.
    I read in a load of posts that i should disable hardware acceleration. But I can't, as my flash player is also suffering from the apparently well known bug where the right click settings menu is totally unresponsive to mouse input.
    I'm stuck for what to do next and any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Could you give this a try with Chrome to see if it also occurs there?  It sounds like a networking problem but you might also want to try clearing your Flash Player cache and settings.
    How do I clear my Flash Player cache and settings?

  • Flash player skipping audio when full screening

    Hi, whenever I full screen or go out of fullscreen using flash player, youtube or twitch.tv, the audio stops for like 1 second, and then resumes. This is extremely irritating and has caused me to use Chrome for the last few years, even though I like Firefox better. Is this something that is fixable?

    This problem is not with firefox, problem can be with some extension.
    Press Ctrl+Shift+ A and disable flash player plugin , restart Firefox, then check youtube, if audio still lags.
    Firefox had got cisco video codec which is enabled by default. it is HTML 5.
    if problem still exist. follow these steps.
    Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
    * Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
    * Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

  • Flash player skips socket policy on 843

    So, this is a copy of another post I made, but I get a sneaking suspicion I put the post in the wrong forum:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/497758?tstart=0
    The summary:
    The Socket class in flash player sometimes, for some users (across all sorts of OS and Browsers) will not ask for the policy file from port 843 first, but instead will go straight to the port of the outgoing request, which in this case is our game server, who doesn't really understand the request.
    In every case so far the user *is* using the latest version of flash too, so it's not an issue without outdated policy methods, which would have been my first guess.
    For most people it works just fine, but I posted a log in the thread for one of the non-working players. It's pretty mysterious, and I haven't found a fix yet... though I'm going to experiment with some work arounds.

    Yes, we use port above 1024 both for socket connection and for gettting a security policy file. You can do the same - FP try to get a policy file from 843 latter when the client try to make a connection via socket if for some reason Fp is not get a socket policy, the  socket will rise a security error. When handle this event client can try to get socket security policy file from additional port. In this way can can eliminate sending a policy file request to your port.

  • Why the hell can't the Flash player skip back a video like three seconds without re-loading the video from the server and make you fuɔʞing wait 10 seconds?

    So, why?

    How do you watch videos on 1st generation iPad?  Is says download flash player, but 1st generation won't accept it.

    No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
    Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
    Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
    So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.
    Here is Steve Jobs official comment on his momentous decision to omit Flash from iDevices: Steve Jobs on Flash.
    Here is Adobe's later announcement to cease development of Flash for mobile devices: Adobe on Mobile Flash. Adobe is not providing Flash for Apple iOS devices, and they no longer provide Flash for any other cellular phones. Flash is officially gone.
    Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.
    A sample of Apps that can display some Flash content:
      1. Puffin
      2. SkyFire
      3. Photon Flash
      4. Browse2Go
      5. Swifter
    Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."

  • Pausing Flash Player

    Hi There,
    I have a flash player of five frames. Right now the plyer transitions between the five frames and loops. I would like player to stop when the mouse is over the entire player.
    This is the code I have to make the player transition between the frames.
    Frame 1
    stop();
    clearInterval(myTimer);
    myTimer = setInterval( function(){ gotoAndPlay(2);}, 10000 );
    Frame 2
    stop();
    clearInterval(myTimer);
    myTimer = setInterval( function(){ gotoAndPlay(3);}, 10000);
    Frame 3
    stop();
    clearInterval(myTimer);
    myTimer = setInterval( function(){ gotoAndPlay(4);}, 10000 );
    Frame 4
    stop();
    clearInterval(myTimer);
    myTimer = setInterval( function(){ gotoAndPlay(5);}, 10000 );
    Frame 5
    stop();
    clearInterval(myTimer);
    myTimer = setInterval( function(){ gotoAndPlay(1);}, 10000 );
    Thanks, any help is appreciated. I am running CS4

    In order to get the rollover/rollout working I added a background object.  You could set the background objects _alpha property to 0 to make it invisible but still work.  I don't know how else to get the rollover/rollout working for the Stage in AS2.  AS3 provides code specifically for detecting the mouse in that manner.

  • Flash player 11.0 flickers/doesn't draw whole frames

    Hello,
    I'm currently running Flash Player 11.0.1.152 on Arch Linux 64-bit, with nVidia driver 285.05.09. I'm coming across a lot of Flash videos where terrible flickering occurs. The frame rate is very good but it seems like some of the frames themselves are only partially drawn (you can see a screenshot here**) which makes the whole video flicker terribly. I've also seen it places like here (particularly the loading screen, but you can also see it to a lesser extent in the video on the front page). Places like Youtube and Blip.Tv work fine.
    Fiddling with hardware acceleration or quality settings doesn't fix it, however simply opening the settings box has a temporary effect: the flicker disappears entirely for as long as the box is there. Upon closing the settings box, flicker immediately resumes. Scrolling the box mostly offscreen resumes flicker, too.
    I primarily use Firefox 7.0.1, but there's no change when using Chromium.
    After upgrading to 11.2 the video plays silky smooth, however I've found the beta is still too unstable for general use, so I can't simply use that. Is there something I can do to fix 11.0 while waiting for the beta to stabilize?
    I've also included a paste dump of my GLXinfo if that will help in any way.
    Thanks for your time!
    **Note that if you wish to check the video itself, the flicker isn't immediately apparent from the start, however clicking the first red dot that skips to Part One will drop you straight into a flickery part.
    EDIT: I found out that when my video card is forced into its highest performance setting, flickering is greatly reduced though doesn't disappear entirely.

    You can only use apps downloaded from the App store, not via a browser. There is no Flash for any iOS device including the iPod.

  • Flash player 10.1 seeks an additional frame (not accurate)

    Wondering if this is a known issue? our engineer has done extensive testing to prove that the behavior is correct pre 10.1. With AS2 and AS3. With FMS 3.5.6 and 4.0. With smart seeking and not. With smart seeking even the player realizing that it seeked to the wrong time! Unfortunately we cannot tell our customers to not upgrade to 10.1. Many of them already have 10.3
    sample files mentioned in this report can be found here
    http://d1yb9lkqglrfzu.cloudfront.net/PlayerSeekTestAS3.zip
    Adobe Flash Player 10.1 and later – netstream.seek in a fms rtmp stream seeks an additional frame
    Product:
    Adobe Flash Player
    Version:
    10.1 or later
    Platform:
    PC
    Operating system:
    Windows XP SP3, Windows 7 Ultimate
    Summary:
    Seeking into a rtmp stream served by Flash Media Server using netstream.seek(offset) will seek an additional frame when played in Adobe Flash Player version 10.1 or later.
    Description:
    There is a sample video player included (PlayerSeekTestAS3.swf) to help reproduce this issue. The player allows loading a stream, playing/pausing it and seeking to a specified time or frame. For testing purposes there is also included a burnt-in timecode mp4 file (timecodeSample.mp4), but the issue can be observed using one of the sample files included in the Flash Media Server 4.0 installation (like Adobe/Flash Media Server 4/applications/vod/media/ sample1_1500kbps.f4v).
    Steps to reproduce:
    Open the sample player (PlayerSeekTestAS3.swf) in Adobe Flash Player version earlier than 10.1 (tested using versions WIN 10,0,2,54, WIN 10,0,12,36, WIN 10,0,22,87, WIN 10,0,32,18, WIN 10,0,42,34 and WIN 10,0,45,2).
    Write a valid rtmp stream url in the url text box of the sample player and click Load button (this creates a netConnection). If the connection is successful it creates a new netStream and plays it).
    After the video has started to play, click the Pause Button (this calls netStream.togglePause function).
    Seek to a specified time by writing it in the “Seek to time” textbox and clicking the associated GO button. (this calls netStream.pause() and then netStream.seek(time)). If testing with file timecodeSample.mp4, seek to time 10. If testing with sample1_1500kbps.f4v seek to time 5.
    Repeat the same steps using a version of Adobe Flash Player later than 10.1.
    Open the sample player (PlayerSeekTestAS3.swf) in Adobe Flash Player version later than 10.1 (tested using versions WIN 10,1,53,64, WIN 10,2,153,2, and WIN 10,3,181,14).
    Write the same rtmp stream url in the url text box of the sample player and click Load button.
    After the video has started to play click the Pause Button.
    Seek to the same time as before by writing it in the “Seek to time” textbox and clicking the associated GO button. If testing with file timecodeSample.mp4, seek to time 10. If testing with sample1_1500kbps.f4v seek to time 5.
    Expected result:
    The same frame should be displayed in the video section of the sample player after the sequence of steps described above.
    Actual result:
    When using Adobe Flash Player later than version 10.1 the same sequence of steps will have sought an additional frame so the frames displayed in the video section of the sample player do not match.
    When testing with file timecodeSample.mp4, seeking to time 10 displays:
    timecode: 03:44:18:24 in Adobe Flash Player earlier than 10.1
    timecode : 03:44:18:25 in Adobe Flash Player 10.1 or later
    When testing with file sample1_1550kbps.f4v, seeking to time 5 displays different frames in the 2 described cases. However, seeking to time 4.96 (approximately one frame before) in Adobe Flash Player 10.1 or later will produce the same frame as previous Adobe Flash Player versions.
    Additional info:
    The issue is reproducible only for FMS streams and it has been reproduced using Flash Media Server 3.5.5, 3.5.6 and 4.0.
    The sample player displays the current player version and type, it polls and displays the netStream.time property and in Adobe Flash Player versions later than 10.1 it allows checking a Smart Seek check box before loading the stream. When Smart Seek is on, the netStream.time value seems to be correct (when not using smart seek the netStream.time will always take the value of the offset sent in netStream.seek(offset)) and based on that we can use netStream.step to step to the correct frame.
    For example, when testing with file timecodeSample.mp4 in Adobe Flash player 10.1 or later:
    without Smart Seek selected, after seeking to time 10, the “Current time” label will display 10
    with Smart Seek selected, after seeking to time 10, the “Current time” label will display 10.06 (more than 1 frame after time 10), clicking “Step 1 frame back” will seek to the correct frame and the “Current time” label will display 10.026.
    The same can be observed when testing with file sample1_1500kbps.f4v in Adobe Flash Player 10.1 or later:
    without Smart Seek selected, after seeking to time 5, the “Current time” label will display 5
    with Smart Seek selected, after seeking to time 5, the “Current time” label will display 5.072 (more than 1 frame after time 5), clicking “Step 1 frame back” will seek to the correct frame and the “Current time” label will display 5.005.

    I've recently come across a similar issue, but my seek to returns a different frame result.
    For example with an encoded video that is 29.97fps, a seek to 10 seconds returns 9:28 in the video (via TC window burn), yet Flash returns a time of 10.00.
    With an encode of 23.976, a seek to 10 seconds returns 9:23 (via TC window burn), yet again Flash returns a time of 10.00.
    Every once and a while the result is frame accurate, but I can't yet find a way to reliably recreate it.
    As with tuvman1, I have confirmed that the the above issues worked correctly when using a player that was pre 10.1

    Whenever i try to watch a video on firefox, the video pauses, then skips, while teh audio is still playing. For example, if i'm watching a video on youtube, the video (but not the audio) with stay at 0:25 for eight seconds, then jump to 0:33. It will do this over and over again until the video is over. Please help! I've reinstalled flash player multiple times and i've uninstalled, then reinstalled it, but nothing has happened. My computer is a windows 7 64 bit.

  • Can the Flash Player do frame accurate seeking when using the HDS protocol?

    Hi all,
    ... and thanks in advance for taking the time to respond. I've been playing with different media serving protocols, and I have a couple of questions.
    1. Can the Flash Player do frame accurate seeking when media is served via the HDS protocol? (I know it works  using RTMP)
    2. If it does work, is it impacted in any way if I also use Access DRM-Core or Access DRM-Professional? (I want stronger DRM protection than simple Access Protected Streaming)
    Thanks!

    Hello Simona_83.  Try downloading Google Chrome (it's free).  Install Flash Player via Chrome, and use Chrome as your browser.  This is the only thing that worked for me after over a month of trying everything under the sun to get Flash Player working again.  You'll have to use Chrome as your browser in order to have Flash Player capability, but so what.  It works.  If it works for you as it works for me, you will have Youtube again; you just have to access Youtube via Chrome.  Don't waste hours of your life trying to get Flash Player to work any other way.  Believe me, I wasted hours upon hours off and on over the course of a month trying to get Flash Player installed and operating.
