Flash video box in dreamweaver

I have inserted a flash video onto my web page. Is there a
way to get it not to look like a black box until the person pushes
play? We already have one video that auto plays, so we don't want
this one to play until the viewer selects it. I'm a newbie!

Was able to resolve this with the help of Adobe Technical
Support. For those coming after me, here's the Fix:
This issue is caused by a MIME setting in Windows 2003 web
server.
Reason:
With IIS 6.0, Microsoft changed the way streaming media is
handled. Previous versions of IIS did not require any modification
to stream Flash Video. Microsoft IIS 6.0, the default web server
that ships with Windows 2003, requires a MIME type to recognize
that FLV files are streamed media.
Solution can be found here:
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_19439
Note: I tested my video on a Linux server and it worked fine:

  • Video Contrast in Flash Video Poor in Dreamweaver Playback

I am using Flash Professional 8 and Dreamweaver 8 to maintain a website. I have just started using flash to show video highlights from high school football games which I record. Using iMovie I export the video as quicktime file and then import to flash to convert to a flash video file to post on the web site. The video coming out of iMovie has very good contrast and the quicktime movie has the same good contrast. When looking at the file in Flash the contrast changes dramatically. I becomes washed out. I am using Max OX 10.6 operating system. I am new to flash and need some help?

Thanks doghouseJim, tried AVI & MP$ still no improvement. Sometime is
happening in the conversion process from the iMovie file to flash
    format.

  • How to have web page open in same browser window after redirect in Flash video placed in Dreamweaver?

    Hello,
Would be grateful if anyone can help me.
    website: www.Paris-Pet.com
Currently, a flash video plays on the index page. The following action is placed in the last frame of the video in Flash:
    navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.paris-pet.com/home.html"));
This is working as intended with one exception: Instead of directing to the home page from the index page when the video is completed, it opens up the home page in a second browser window, leaving the empty browser window of the flash movie. This is not the seamless design I was hoping for, and I've also been told on some computers, blocking pop up windows is preventing them from smoothly transitioning to the rest of the web site.
I would like the redirect to open the home page in the same browser window as the movie in the index page played.
Please help. Print designer in over her head.
    JM

Brilliant, Jon. Thank you so much. For those of you who stumble on this, I did have a tiny bit of trouble when I edited the actionscript; the video didn't play as expected. After trial and error, this is the code that worked both in playing the video and opening up in the same browser window:
    navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.paris-pet.com/home.html"),"_self");
    The difference seems to be this:  ")     before the comma prior to "_self");
    Again, Jon -- thanks!

  • Flash Video (.flv) in Dreamweaver

I can't find anything here or on teh net that tells me how to
use a preloader with Flash Video inserted directly into DW. The
standard answer is to create a .swf file in flash and use the
    preloader there. Duh! No kidding?
Can anyone tell what the point is in having the capability of
inserting a .flv file directly into an html file if you can't
independently communicate to the user that he/she needs to wait for
the thing to load? We've had that ability to insert a flash file
for ages. Is this good only for VERY small .flv files that load
    almost instantly?

No the one that auto plays when the page loads? Just
    wondering?
    This one works just fine
    http://www.neapco.com/Flash/intro.html
    however its
kind of hard to find it. My eye is focused on the one that
    plays a loop and
I never seen the other link until you posed back sorry. That
    link might be
more effective right under the one that's playing, Just a
    thought.

  • Can I set a static frame (jpg or png) image as a poster image when embedding flash video into a dreamweaver page?

hello everybody - my subject line pretty much says it all...
i'm looking to have my users see a single static frame (a
poster image) that they can then click on to start playing a video.
how do i set this in either flash or dreamweaver?
    anybody have any info?
    much appreciated!

Will the video appear in place of the image clicked on? Or
    will it be in a

  • Insert Flash Video

Using Dreamweaver 8 I have created a site with PHP/MySQL that
is similar to YouTube. I am using the database to store the
filename for each uploaded FLV. I have a search page which will
return results listing page, and then go to a details page when one
of the results is clicked. So, on my details page, I want to insert
an FLV player using the Insert>Media>Flash Video function in
Dreamweaver. This brings up the window where you browse for your
FLV file and select a skin, etc. When I click on Browse, another
window pops up which allows you to navigate to the file, but also
gives you the option to Select file name from Data Sources. When I
choose data sources and select the appropriate field in my
recordset which contains the file to be played and click Choose,
and then then OK on the previous window, I get an error that my URL
    cannot contain any special characters.
I thought this could work the same way as an image place
    holder.
What am I doing wrong? Can I have an empty FLV player on a
page which gets the correct file to play from a MySQL databse with
    PHP?

  • Flash Video / XHTML

When I use the Insert > Media > Flash Video function in
Dreamweaver CS3, the code that is automatically generated does not
validate as XHTML. The errors are mainly in the code I have copied
    below.
Here are some of the errors I get when I try to validate the
    code with W3C:
    1) S separator in comment declaration
    2) Invalid comment declaration: found name start character
outside comment but inside comment declaration.
    3) Character "<" is the first character of a delimiter but
    occurred as data.
    4) Cannot generate system identifier for general entity
    "MM_ComponentVersion".
    5) general entity "MM_ComponentVersion" not defined and no
    default entity.
    6) reference not terminated by REFC delimiter.
    7) general entity "skinName" not defined and no default
    entity
    8) cannot generate system identifier for general entity
    "streamName".
    9) general entity "autoPlay" not defined and no default
    entity.
    etc etc
Is this to do with the deprecated <embed> tag? How do I
get around this? The video plays fine on the latest versions of IE,
    FireFox, Safari and Opera.
    Many thanks,
    Sue

<embed> is not deprecated. It's invalid HTML. It was
    never part of the
    HTML specification.
There are a number of ways around these warnings, and you can
    'cloak' the
code so that the validator never sees it, but I just ignore
    them. It's very
easy to do after you've had the first few cups of coffee.

  • I'm sooo close I can feel it: Flash Video upload problem

    Hello all,
I searched this topic and found plenty of articles but most were unanswered.
Issue: I can play a flash video locally in dreamweaver MX by pressing F12 but not when I upload it to the server.
The site below shows that only the player controls show but nothing else.
    Here's the Site:
    http://www.servicetoself.com/landing_pages/itsnotweightloss/itsnotweightloss.htm
Note: I uploaded all files that were created with Adobe flash into the site folder of the specific page  (not the root directory of my site) including
            1. The swf (which works fine when i double click on it)
            2. The AC run active file
            3. the fla file
            4. the htm (created by adobe flash)
            5. the flv file
            6. the skin control file
These files are all in the path servicetoself/landing_pages/itsnotweightloss both locally and on the server
My Idea: It seems as the the swf file may not be pointing correctly to the flv. I found in other posts that I have to put the URL into the swf but have no idea how to do that. I don't see a "content path" parameter in the component inspector and have no idea how to get to it. but maybe this isn't what I need to do to fix it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Select the FLVPlayer component on the stage. Open the Component Inspector window.  In the Parameters tab the Content Path will be the fifth item down the list. Alternately, in versions before CS4, you can use the Parameters tab in the Properties window and find the same Content Path.

  • Adding Flash Video to web page

    Hi Everyone,
I have a web page that I have added a flash video to using
the insert flash video option in Dreamweaver. I uploaded all the
files including the additional files that are created when you use
that option and when I try to get to the video file once I have
uploaded it will not play. If I use a link directly to the .swf
then it will play but the link to the page where the video is
inserted just shows a blank page. Can anyone give me any guidance
on how I can get this to work.
P.S. If I preview it from my desktop before uploading to the
    website it works fine.
    Thanks,
    Robert

  • Inserting Flash Video causes display problems in Google Chrome

    Hi all,
I have tried in insert a Flash Video (.flv) into Dreamweaver using the Insert > Media > Flv command.
The video looks fine in both Firefox and Interent Explorer. The problem is Google Chome does not display the video at all. It shows a white background. As I right+click onto Google Chrome, it says About Flash Player which means it is already installed into the browser.
Does anybody know how to resolve this issue?
    Thanks!

Well certainly not without seeing your code.

  • Problem Inserting Flash Video (.flv) File in Page Using Dreamweaver CS4's Insert Media Command

    I am using Dreamweaver CS4.
I am attempting to put a Flash Video (.flv) file on a standard HTML page in Dreamweaver.
When I either click the Insert Flash Video in the Common tab on the Dreamweaver toolbar, or if I choose Insert > Media > FLV to inert the video, I get the standard Dreamweaver FLV interface. I make my choices, click OK, and when the video is place on the page, I get the following dialog box:

If I preview the page, all that loads are the various buttons of the skin that I have chosen and no video.
Anyone have an idea what is going on?

Are you sure you aren't working with a template driven page?
When you insert media files into DW, it must write code in the <head> tags to reference Scripts necessary for Flash media to work on the web.
If you're working with a page that was created from a Template, the DWT page must have editable regions in the <head> tags, or you won't be able to add media to your web pages.

  • Flash video into Dreamweaver 5.5

I'm not a web designer but, I'm trying to keep cost down by building my own web site.  So, I'm re-building my website with Dreamweaver 5.5.  I'm using 5 flash videos to discribe what I do.  I made the movies and edited the movies in Final Cut Pro  and saved it as a quicktime movie.  Then I took the QT movie to Adove Media Encoder 5.5 chancing it to an FLV
Here is my problem.  I place it using "Insert, media, FLV".  I set the size and all the junk to have it play then click, OK.  In the code I get "Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player."  I have the newest version on my computer.   When I check "LIVE VIEW"  I don't have the video.  I uploaded the page to my website and it only shows my placeholders as a white box.
The ohter issue is that I used a spry menu bar for all my pages.  In the "LIVE VIEW" and looking at it in "preview" Safari it looks great.  When I up loaded it some of the text is bold (the way I wanted it) and some as plane text.  you can see all the problems at digitalmontagefilms.com

  • Inserting Flash video in Dreamweaver

This is my first time using Dreamweaver and it's been a blast but I get to the point of needing to insert a Flash video and it gives me a message: "Making this change would require changing a code that is locked by a template or a translator.  The change will be discarded."
Is the template the index page I use as my template for other pages?
What code is it that I need to change to insert the video?

Are you sure you aren't working with a template driven page?
When you insert media files into DW, it must write code in the <head> tags to reference Scripts necessary for Flash media to work on the web.
If you're working with a page that was created from a Template, the DWT page must have editable regions in the <head> tags, or you won't be able to add media to your web pages.

  • Removing menu from Flash video in Dreamweaver

I have used the Flash Encoder to convert some videos to FLA.
I am now using Dreamweaver, "Insert->Flash Video", to add a FLA
file to a web page. I got the video in fine and it plays on the
page just fine. I would like to remove the menu from the video, but
there is not an option in properties to select "none" for the flash
video menu. I also tried changing the attirbute
    "&skinName=SteelExternalNoVol" to "&skinName=none" and that
made the flash video not show up.
I would also like to loop the video and that option is not
    available in the Dreamweaver menu.
    My code is
    <script type="text/javascript">
    AC_FL_RunContent( 'codebase','

Could someone tell me if I should be able to add parameters
to this code and get results. I have found mention of values like
    <param name="loop" value="true" />
but when I used it nothing changed on playback.
