Flat file export with a “Constant” header record???

I have a mapping that export the records of a table in a Flat File.
But I need to agreggate a constant in the first line of the export file (Header Record)
For example ‘AAABBBCCCDDDEEEFFFGGG’
How Can I put a “Constant” Header record?

Marcelo,
When you use flat file as a target you can set the header to be your field names. Now... it looks like this is not exactly what you are looking for.
Alternative is to use a pre mapping procedure to create your file with the one line in it, and have the mapping produce additional records that are appended to the first line. Whether you create a new file or append to an existing file is a property on the target file, if I am not mistaken (it would be a configuration property otherwise).
Thanks,
Mark.

  • Flat file extraction with FILE

    Hi BWers,
    I want to extract a flat file to BW with an infopackage.
    This flat file is located in a physical path changing according to the system :
    - in the developpment server, path is :
    ...\dev\file.csv
    - in the quality server, path is :
    ...\qual\file.csv
    - in the production server, path is :
    ...\prod\file.csv
    In the Name of the File into the infopackage extraction tab, i have to put the physical path or the logical file or routine.
    I don't want to put directly the physical path, because i would have to change this path in qual and prod servers.
    I don't want too to use a routine.
    So I created a logical file with FILE T-code. But in physical path i put :
    ...\dev\<FILENAME>
    How to put a directory variable like that : $(director)<filename> which says : if we are in Dev, so $directory =
    ...\dev\file, else qual...
    Thanks for help.
    Cheers,

    Hi,
    Here is the answer i found:
    Use in  FILE\Assignment of Physical Paths to Logical Path the variable like that:
    <V=Z_INT_SRV>
    Declare this variables in Definition of Variables.
    Z_INT_SRV

  • Flat file upload with error

    Dear all,
    We are using BI7.00 and in one of our data load, which is running automatically, the flat file will be generated in the common location and then load takes place automatically based on event.
    My problem is in one of our file, the field named "customer location" has a long address seperated with commas like for example "Chakan-Talegaon,Mahaalunge,CHAKAN,P," -> this value should be accomadated in one field only but since the seperator is "," system assumes it as seperate field and pushes the other value to the next field. The next field is a qty field and hence when this character is moved to the qty field , data load fails due to mismatch.
    My requirement is since it is automatic generation of the file and load is also automatically carried out, manual change to the file cannot be carried out.Is there any way of making system understand that for this particular field if the value is with commas seperated between values, system should not consider it as seperate field value.
    Expert suggestion required.
    Regards,
    M.M

    Thank you all for the reply.
    Dear Godhuli,
    Thank you for your reply. I tried the same as per your information, i.e., the data seperator as "^" and the escape sign as " . Sorry this doesn't work for me , in the sence , the data load takes place without error but in the PSA all the fields are without values.
    I could not percieve the correction method that has to be adopted to solve my problem. Experts solution is expected.
    Kindly provide help to solve my problem.

  • Hierarchy from flat file loading with errors - duplicate node names

    Hello experts,
    I am loading a product hierarchy from a flat file into a custom hierarchy
    object.  The issue is that it errors out saying I am loading
    duplicates within nodes, however all node IDs within a level are unique.
    It seems to be looking at the node name to determine uniqueness and I know
    we have some duplication within the text there especially when you factor
    in the 32 character limitation for the node name.  Does anyone have an idea
    as to whether it is possible to have it only consider the node ID instead
    of the node name to determine uniqueness?
    A colleague suggested using the link ID to fix this problem but I don't know how that field works or how to populate it.
    I'm working in a BI 7.0 environment (I don't know if that makes a difference since you still have to use the 3.x objects to extract the hierarchy).
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Nancy

    Hi Nancy,
    You may wish to check this OSS Note 1026749 - Hierarchies: Consistency check for duplicate nodes and 912115 (old one)
    Symptom -
    When you load or activate a hierarchy it terminates with error message RH 109 or RH 211. The hierarchy contains duplicate nodes and this is not allowed. The long texts of messages RH 109 or RH 211 do not describe the reason for the problem sufficiently or they are partially incorrect.
    There is uncertainty about in which cases duplicate nodes exist in a hierarchy and in which cases duplicate nodes are allowed.
    Hope this helps,
    Bye...

  • FLV files exported with Alpha have extra frames after end of sequence.

    Sequence is 588w x 486h Animation+ codec, talent chroma-key (Conduit) on track 2 with no background on track 1. Flash 8 is installed. When I export using the QuickTime Flash export component using On2 VP6 with Alpha Channel settings, the resulting FLV has additional frames up to around 20 seconds for a 2 minute sequence. These additional frames are a freeze of the last frame in the sequence. I tried several different sequence codecs/Spark codec with same result. Even setting an In and Out on the sequence does not help.
    One symptom I have noticed, is that when I click in the timeline beyond the last frame of video, I still see the last frame of video in the Canvas (But not in the BlackMagic video card output). Normally I would see black or checkerboard.
    Anybody heard of any conflicts with the Flash Export component dircect from the timeline or via a batch export.
    Exporting an Item Settings QuickTime (Animation+) files and then using Flash Encoder does work, but I am trying to avoid the extra steps. (250 sequences to export)
    I suspect I have an issue with the export component, but I wanted to see if anybody else has experiences this before I reinstall FCP and Flash software.

    I have found what I believe the cause of the extra frames issue here, so I thought I would post it for others.
    This appears to be caused by a problem between the Adobe FLV Export Component and QuickTime 7.2.  Adobe's website says that Flash encoder has issues with non 44.1 kHz audio.  Changing the sequence settings to 44.1 and rendering the audio solves the problem and FLV files exported from the timeline or via batch export are the correct length.
    Exporting FLV files using either Spark or On2 VP6 with alpha, used to be a breeze with awesome results.  I do this all day to support our Flash developers.  The audio issue is easy to work around, but I also get random errors in the alpha channel of these movies now.  These single frame errors appear as black flashes.  There is nothing in the timeline that would appear to cause this.  Re-exporting sometimes fixes it, or simply moves the error somewhere else in the timeline.    This may also be related to QuickTime 7.2, but I don't know.
    If anyone has experience these flashes in the alpha channel of exported FLV files please let me know how you resolved it.  This is a major productivity killer.
    Thanks....

  • Problem with flat file upload with ASCII file

    Hi All,
    I am trying to load data into an ODS object via PSA using a text file (tab delimited). I have the following settings in my InfoPackage
    External Data tab: ASCII File
    Seperator for thousands:
    Character for decimal point:
    Currency Conversion:
    Number of Header rows to be ignored: 1
    Processing tab: Only PSA and Update into data targets subsequently
    When I do a preview the data is not showing up in the right format....the tab seperation does not work and data is garbled with extra hexadecimal characters too.
    The same file contents in .csv format is loading the data in the right format and preview is fine too.
    I need help trying to convert this csv file to .txt format.
    Any clues are highly appreciated
    Thank you

    Hi,
    If in the infopackage you click on a File Type ASCII-file (CR delimiter) radiobutton and then F1, you’ll see the help:
    “With an ASCII file as a data source, the data has to be available as a string in the format of the transfer structure. There are no data separators, empty characters are not ignored.”
    This means that:
    -     you shouldn’t use any delimiters among the record fields
    -     all fields should have the length the system expects (length of the appropriate infoobject in transfer structure)
    -     each record should be separated from the next by carriage return CR.
    Since I think the program that converts file from Excel format into CR-delimited would be very useful, I created such program in VBA.
    So, open your Excel file (if you have csv-file you can open it using Excel).
    The program assumes that the first row of the file contain field names. Data itself begin from the 2nd row. Insert as the 1st and 2nd rows the new, blank rows.
    Into A1 cell insert number of the last row with data, into B1 – number of the last column. Certainly, it may be determined in the program, but I have not done it – if someone wants it, s/he can try it.
    Into fields of the 2nd row insert expected length of the field.
    Make sure that “Visual Bacis” toolbar is seen. (If not – tick in menu path: View/Toolbars/Visual Basic).
    In this toolbar click on a ‘Design Node’ icon.
    Drag from the toolbar and drop into worksheet a ‘Command button’ element.
    Double click on the button. In the open window for “Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()” subroutine insert the following code:
    Dim ws1 As Worksheet
    Dim J As Long, I As Long, L As Long
    Dim FileName As String, Out As String, formatOut As String
    Dim LenCell As Long
    Set ws1 = ThisWorkbook.Worksheets("SHEET1")
    FileName = ThisWorkbook.Path & "\" & Left(ThisWorkbook.Name, Len(ThisWorkbook.Name) - 3) & "txt"
    Open FileName For Output As #1
    For J = 4 To ws1.Cells(1, 1)
        Out = ""
        For I = 1 To ws1.Cells(1, 2)
            formatOut = (ws1.Cells(J, I))
            L = Len(formatOut)
            LenCell = Val(ws1.Cells(2, I))
            If L > LenCell Then
                formatOut = Left(formatOut, LenCell)
            Else
                Do While L < LenCell
                    formatOut = formatOut & " "
                    L = L + 1
                Loop
            End If
            Out = Out & formatOut
        Next
            Print #1, Out
    Next
    Close #1
    Set ws1 = Nothing
    MsgBox "File transformation finished!", vbOKOnly
    Now return to Excel sheet, click again ‘Design Node’ icon switching into run mode.
    When you press on this button now, the ASCII program will be created. It will have the same name as an input file (and in the same directory), but with TXT extention.
    Remarks:
    -     The program works with the current worksheet named as “SHEET1”.
    -     Fields that are shorter than those expected by the system are padded by spaces from the right. It should not be the problem, since in transfer structure you can check symbols only flag.
    -     Longer fields are truncated to the length expected.
    Best regards,
    Eugene

  • Video files exported with QuickTime Pro 7.2 can't be transferred to iPod

    If I use the default Export to iPod export choice in QuickTime Pro 7.2 to export video files and add them to my iTunes 7.3 library, when I try to sync them to my 5th generation iPod with video (November, 2005), I just get the "can't be played on this iPod" message. I can create, transfer, and play video files on my iPod if I create them a different way (by using iSquint, ffmpegX, or No Frills DVD2iPod, for example). Exporting to mpeg4 using h.264 results in the same problem, even though I've used settings I know worked before. The export to iPod export choice does not offer any customization of settings. Although this problem is new, I can't be sure the immediately previous version of QuickTime Pro didn't also have the problem, but I know I have successfully used QuickTime 7 to create videos that could be transferred and played on my iPod in the past. How can I use QuickTime Pro 7.2 to create video files that will be compatible with my iPod? Thanks.
      Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    I can also verify this (QT Pro 7.2 exporting to .mp4 not compatible
    with video iPod [firmware 1.2.1 on both 5G/5.5G units]).
    This results in the unusual situation where custom H.264 output
    is operable on the iPhone but not the iPod.
    Example: your iPhone should play
    http://homepage.mac.com/retiarius/sample.elements.mp4
    but it won't transfer to a video iPod.
    Yes, the workaround is to 'export for iPod' or do the conversion
    within 'iTunes', but this in many circumstances will generate
    larger files.
    The closest description of this situation is:
    http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/ffmpeg-devel/2006-September/015930.html
    Perhaps Apple will release a video iPod firmware update soon
    to get the 'uuid' atoms and whatever watermarking they are
    using these days straightened out.
    I'm surprised this hasn't been noticed more by video podcasters
    who dutifully use Apple's own QT Pro encoding tool to optimize
    filesizes via the tunable H.264/.mp4 codec settings.

    While ago Microsoft lost case against company claiming rights

    As result, the flash movie will show annoying messages asking
    you to click SPACE bar
    or the movie itself to active it. Many of us get seriously
    annoyed with it. This JS file
    is built in method for the html tags to avoid these annoying

  • Why do files exported with H264 randomly slip out of sync.

    I am currently in the middle of exporting 34 individual videos/sequences.
    I am using the H264 codec. Some of them are in sync and some seem to have the audio lagging roughly a frame behind. The videos are of musical instrument demonstrations so there is no margin for error. It seems totally random as to whether they come out of Adobe Media Encoder in sync or out of sync. I have to export each one and then if it's incorrect I have to manually drag the audio a frame forward on the timeline and outout an 'out of sync' timeline in order to get an 'in sync' video! Needless to say, all of the audio is perfectly in sync on the timeline. Plenty of the them are fine and I'm not changing the settings, so it must be some kind of inconsistency with the encoding.
    Why is this always such a problem with Adobe Premiere? Even in the past it's been really difficult to get acceptable quality videos out of the software package.
    If anyone can offer a solution to this it would be greatly appreciated!

    That is the realty of the situation.
    Just like a cinematographer, who works so hard making the image look just the way he wants, has no guarantee that the end viewer will have a properly calibrated display and see the film the way it was intended to be seen.
    All you can do is your job correctly, and offer suggestions to those whose systems don't work right.  Which in this case means using a decent media player.

  • .MOV files exporting with out-of-sync audio

    I'm trying to export a number of clips from Final Cut Express to .MOV files for upload to YouTube. They all seem to export fine, but some of the clips have the audio go out-of-sync after uploading to YouTube. However, others are fine. I am confused as to what might be the difference and what I might be doing wrong.
    I am using QuickTime Conversion to export them at 1280x720 HD, automatic frame rate, and an AAC audio codec. This is what I did for ALL of them, and yet only some go out of sync on YouTube, others upload and play fine. Anyone else have this problem and/or know how to fix it?

  • Flat File vs using final constants - which is better appraoch

    Hi
    i have a requirement where i have set some states variable.
    it goes like this:
    state A , some indicator A ,indicator B ,flag A : final state set to be set
    1 , true , A , 0 : Declined
    1 , false , B ,0 : PreDeclined...
    ...... like this i have some 20+ rows.. below 50
    since these are states .. this may increase.. but not frequently
    i would like to know which is best way to implement the above logic. My peer suggested to capture all that data as constants /hard code. I was thinking to store them in CSV and then read. but my peer was mentioning using I/O operations slows performance. can u please suggest me a better way ( not DB since its requires lots of permission etc..)

    thats interesting. can u please let me know how to use enums to fit my above requrement.
    i have used enums eariler where my requirement is just return descriptionstring to code. . ie.. is just only one constant.more over those enums are generated .. and they do correspond to a db table.
    but here what i want is a basically look up based upon 3 elements. and return 4 the element..
    i'm not sure on how to use enums for that.

  • Extra delimiters in header record

    Creating a header row with totals; union all with contents from rest of the file; sorting and then creating a flat file delimited by semicolon. Header record has semicolons in last field. How can I get rid of those?

    This is because the downward components see metadata comprised of a fixed number of rows. You need to split this process into more steps: 1) Create file detail records; 2) Add the header. I suggest you see http://microsoft-ssis.blogspot.ca/2012/03/adding-header-row-to-flat-file.html
    as it closely matches what you did.
