Hello
I have a flex 3 professional license, but I don't have
access to the source code of the AdvancedDatagrid and other
components like the classes from the chart library. Is there a way
to get these the source code of those classes ?

Managing Flex source code: alternatives to NWDI?

Experts, can you please share with me your experiences with source code management tools for your Adobe Flex applications? Our development team has handed off a very nice application to the maintenance group, but unfortunately no forethought into version control and team editing.
NWDI is fine if we just want to zip up a project and store it in a central repository, but we really want a good tool that we can manage individuals tasks, merge changes and work concurrently in a save environment.
Any ideas?

We are using SubVersion Repository for version management of Flex projects. Its really good and easy to use.
You can install Subversion repository.
And then You can download plugin for Subversion for Flex Builder, install and start using it.
Alternatively, you can use Perforce also. From few people who are using NWDI, we got to know its better to use Perforce than NWDI. AS NWDI uses component based projects.

Flash Builder 4.5 - Flex (source code automatically changed after existing project import)

Hi all!
Til yesterday, i was using FB v4.0 and it was perfectly working.
But now I'm under 4.5 and i have problem when importing my existing projects.
Now let me introduce the matter:
The entire project solution is located on my Desktop.
So, to import this, i go in FB in File>Import Project
Then i select "Project Repository" option and "Browse" button, then select the project on Desktop...
So.... import complete and SEEM TO BE successful
Unfortunately, from the IDE, when i double click on each source files, the code inside is not the expected one.
In fact, it looks as an older version of my code.
Then, i exit totally FB4.5...
... and open my source files with a simple text editor, i can see that the original code (before import) has been changed by FB4.5...
So, why???

Well well,
I got some news about this problem....
Look like Flash Builder uses a ".FML" file to reference URL of all WebServices used in the project.
When replacements occurs, the updated values seem coming from this.

Source Code Editor Framework for Flex

Dear Flex Forum members:
As a Flex newbie a quite important question in relation to the "Flex frameworks world" still remains to me, even after some google search sessions:
Does there exist any (preferably free) Flex framework or Flex component covering the functionality of a source code editor with syntax highlighting and syntax checking? -- Anything comparable to the Editor Framework within the Eclipse RCP (Rich Client Platform) or even to the Eclipse GEF (Graphical Editor Framework)?
The background is as follows (and as described in more detail in my first post to this forum):
An Online Shop Management Component shall offer the ShopManager to specify the products and offers in some declarative way and after a pre-defined grammar in place. The application frontend must be realized in Flex, and that's the reason why I'm now searching for:
some kind of textual or graphical editor framework for realizing the Shop Manager's editor which shall support him/her in creating shop specifications/configurations in a grammar-conforming way through syntax color highlighting and syntax checking (error feedback), and
this editor framework being intended for Flex (i.e., being a flex framework)
In some way, much of the editing/modeling functionality is identical to the one offered by Flex Builder (Eclipse application), but in my case this functionality must be exposed as web application (Flex component running on the browser).
Aps., would it also be possible to realize the Shop Management Component as AIR app, distribute it through a web page and run it locally on the Shop Managers client desktop???
Which products/frameworks do you know for accomplishing this task?

Since people complain about Flex's basic rich text editor (which is a basic building block of the kind of framework you're discussing), I doub't you'll find what you need out of the box anywhere...

However, I have some further questions to ask, if you don't mind. To clarify my task I should say that your rephrasing of the problem is accurate: "You wan't to display the contents of the HTML file that the web server produces in response of client's request?"
Yes, this is what I need to do, but also it needs to display the source code of that html file that the server produces in response to the client's request. Also, in this case, I am the client requesting that the server return some html file, and I'm not sure where the server is. But the webserver.java file that I shared on the forum is on my local machine. I was wondering if I could modify this webserver.java file at my home so that any html file the server returns to me would automatically display the source code. This is a school project of mine and I am stuck on this one thing here.
Further, where would I put the "foo.html" file so it can be written to?

Flex UI automation without any access to source code

Hi All,
I have automate a product with flex UI ,but don't have access to its code and unable to recompile. In above scenario Is it possible to automate flex ui through OATS ?

Is it mandatory to have access to source code? Only thing which would be required is to configure the application to enable automation.

Where is source code for flex.util.SerializedTemplateFactory?

This class is included (why?) in the mm-velocity-1.4.jar file. I'm trying to build the flexsdk entirely from source to meet packaging requirements.

you should be able to find and decompile the class com.sapportals.wcm.rendering.layout.cm.MenuTreeListPreviewLayoutController in the JAR km.appl.ui.flex.control_core.jar. This JAR is located under ...<irj-root>\WEB-INF\portal\portalapps\com.sap.km.cm.ui.flex\private\lib

Needed: A bit more info on the source code structure

I've downloaded the source code zip file and would like to link to BlazeDS's source code from a Flex Builder project, so that I can step through it in the debugger.
As far as I can see the source code is split up in multiple sub-directories under the modules directory. It would be nice if there was a single folder that included all BlazeDS source, so that I wouldn't have to link to multiple folders in my project.
Or, at least, some explanation in a read-me file explaining what I need to link to.
Am I missing something? If so, where?
Also, an explanation of the difference between 'java' and 'java15' folders would be helpful.

Hi Douglas,
The classes are merged together in to a single jar file. The java15 code is
mainly code that needs to be compiled with the compiler in 1.5 mode. This
is left over from before we released BlazeDS and supported Java 1.4. We
expect to 'fix' all this moving forward and require Java 5 SDK and JVM as a
minimum. We just haven't done that yet.
In an IDE you can just ignore this and set the JVM level to be 1.5 and
include both the java and java15 directories as source. The Eclipse
projects (and IntelliJ IDEA projects) we provide should already take care of
this for you. It shouldn't be too hard to do in any other Java IDE either.

Import a class from a SWC into my source code

Hi all --
I'm a long-time Flash developer, relatively new to Flex. I am using FlashBuilder 4.6.
I have XMPCore.swc from Adobe, which I have added to my project in the libs/ directory. It shows up in Project->Properties->Flex Builder Path->Library Path->Libs.
XMPCore defines several classes, such as XMPMeta.
In my source code, I want to be able to do
var xmp:XMPMeta = new XMPMeta(...)
but when I type that I get an orange error indicator, and when I compile I get a red error indicator stating that "Type was not found". Just as a stab in the dark, I tried adding
import XMPCore
or
import XMPCore.XMPMeta
at the top of the file, but that gave error messages as well.
I'm sure this is explained neatly somewhere, but I've spent several hours reading documentation and googling and I can't find that somewhere!
