[Flex 4.5.1] Loading Chart in a module fails

Hello,
I try to load a LineChart inside a module but it doesn't show anything ... I'm using Flex 4.5.1 with Flash builder.
The module is loaded using this script :
// ActionScript file moduleLoaderUtil
import mx.modules.*;
public function createModule(m:ModuleLoader, s:String):void {
if (!m.url) {
m.url = s;
return;
m.loadModule();
public function removeModule(m:ModuleLoader):void {
m.unloadModule();
The main application :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"
creationComplete="creationCompleteHandler()"
height="100%" width="100%"
skinClass="skins.CustomApplicationSkin">
<s:layout>
<s:BasicLayout />
</s:layout>
<fx:Declarations>
</fx:Declarations>
<fx:Script source="scripts/moduleLoaderUtil.as" />
<fx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import events.GotoEvent;
private function creationCompleteHandler():void{
createModule(moduleLoader, 'modules/Statistics.swf');
]]>
</fx:Script>
<mx:VBox height="100%" width="100%" horizontalAlign="center" verticalAlign="top">
<mx:ModuleLoader id="moduleLoader" />
</mx:VBox>
</s:Application>
and the module with an empty chart into a panel :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Module xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"
layout="absolute" width="100%" height="100%">
<fx:Declarations>
</fx:Declarations>
<s:Panel title="Sélection des critères" chromeColor="#CCCCCC" width="960" height="600">
<mx:LineChart x="164" y="59" id="linechart1">
<mx:series>
<mx:LineSeries displayName="Series 1" yField=""/>
</mx:series>
</mx:LineChart>
<mx:Legend dataProvider="{linechart1}"/>
</s:Panel>
</mx:Module>
What can i do ?
Best Regards

I fixed this with an extended group as a dropDown which is the first element inside the popUpAnchor. It looks like this:
package com.dialog.voxi.components.common
import mx.core.IFlexDisplayObject;
import mx.managers.IFocusManagerContainer;
import spark.components.Group;
public class PopUpGroup extends Group implements IFocusManagerContainer
public function PopUpGroup()
super();
public function get defaultButton():IFlexDisplayObject
return null;
public function set defaultButton(value:IFlexDisplayObject):void
If someone knows if this is the right way to do it or there is a better one, please let me know. Thanks!

• Calling a function in a flex app from a loaded SWF

How can I call a function in a flex application from a loaded
swf file?

Two ways:
Application.application returns a reference to the top-level
application scope. You can access any public member, var, function,
component, etc through that reference.
Dispatch an event event form the loaded swf and use a event
handler in the main app. All the gurus advise this as best
practice, to ensure "loose coupling" It is also pretty easy,
especially if you use a bubbling event.

• Show busy indicator while loading chart

Hello Experts,
I have created a chart and while loading chart, the charts shows nodata
Instead of showing nodata I want it to show busy indicator till the chart is loaded
I tried using oBarChart.setNoData(oBarChart.setBusy(true)); - it works but even after loading chart the indicator is still visible.
How can I achieve this?
Similarly how can I show busy indicator for a table until table data is loaded?
Regards,
Rohit

Hi,
use odatamodel methods attachRequestSent, attachRequestCompleted and attachRequestFailed for starting and stoping busy indicator. refer more discussion in Several question regarding OData and Tables

• How Flex application can be loaded once together

Hi,
My question is that "how Flex application can be loaded once
together"
I am using some images and .swf files and the application is
loaded in pieces , means differnet parts os the same page are
loaded in differnet timng and the whole page is not loaded at once
so how it can be.
Thanks,
KTA

One way would be to hide the rendering behind some splash
screen. ViewStack would be suitable. In this case, you would want
to set creationPolicy="all".

• Profiling the loading and unloading of modules

Modules appear to be the ideal solution for building complex rich internet applications but first hand experience has also shown me that they can leak memory like nothing else. I've read anything and everything I could find about modules and module loading/unloading including of Alex Harui's blog post "What We Know About Unloading Modules" that reveals a number of potential leak causes that should be considered.
I've now created a simple soak test that repeatedly loads and unloads a specified module to help identify memory leaks using the profiler. However, even with the most basic of modules, I find that memory usage will steadily grow. What I'd like to know is what memory stuff is unavoidable flex overhead associated with the loading of modules and what memory stuff am I guilty for, for not cleaning up object references? I'd like to be able to establish some baseline values to which I will be able to compare future modules against.
I've been following the approach suggested in the Adobe Flash Builder 4 Reference page "Identifying problem areas"
"One approach to identifying a memory leak is to first find a discrete set of steps that you can do over and over again with your application, where memory usage continues to grow. It is important to do that set of steps at least once in your application before taking the initial memory snapshot so that any cached objects or other instances are included in that snapshot."
Obviously my set of discrete steps is the loading and unloading of a module. I load and unload the module once before taking a memory snapshot. Then I run my test that loads and unloads the module a large number of times and then take another snapshot.
After running my test on a very basic module for 200 cycles I make the following observations in the profiler:
Live Objects:
Class
Package (Filtered)
Cumulative Instances
Instances
Cumulative Memory
Memory
_basicModule_mx_core_FlexModuleFactory
201 (1.77%)
201 (85.17%)
111756 (24.35%)
111756 (95.35%)
What ever that _basicModule_mx_core_FlexModuleFactory class is, it's 201 instances end up accounting for over 95% of the memory in "Live Objects".
Loitering Objects:
Class
Package
Instances
Memory
Class
600 (9.08%)
2743074 (85.23%)
_basicModule_mx_core_FlexModuleFactory
200 (3.03%)
111200 (3.45%)
However this data suggests that the _basicModule_mx_core_FlexModuleFactory class is the least of my worries, only accounting for 3.45% of the total memory in "Loitering Objects". Compare that to the Class class with it's 600 instances consuming over 85% of the memory. Exploring the Class class deeper appears to show them all to be the [newclass] internal player actions.
Allocation Trace:
Method
Package (Filtered)
Cumulative Instances
Self Instances
Cumulative Memory
Self Memory
[newclass]
1200 (1.39%)
1200 (14.82%)
2762274 (13.64%)
2762274 (62.76%)
This appears to confirm the observations from the "Loitering Objects" table, but do I have any influence over the internal player actions?
So this brings me back to my original question:
What memory stuff is unavoidable flex overhead associated with the loading of modules and what memory stuff am I guilty for, for not cleaning up object references? If these are the results for such a basic module, what can I really expect for a much more complex module? How can I make better sense of the profile data?
This is my basic module soak tester (sorry about the code dump but there's not that much code really):
basicModule.mxml

Easiest way I've found to get your SDK version from within Builder is to add this: <mx:Label text="{mx_internal::VERSION}" />

Also dispatch an error message from ModuleLoader if a module cannot be created.
build.xml
Include modules.properties file in framework resource bundle.

Pass rootURL to RSLItem to support relative urls for the import loading style of RSL loading.
src/mx/modules/ModuleLoader.as
Dispatch an error if we cannot create a module for whatever reason. In the scenario for this bug the module had a custom library that was externalized but it did not try to load the RSL partly due to user error and partly to tooling. This caused the Module?\226?\128?\153s main class to not be present in the module factory?\226?\128?\153s application domain.
Bug FB-24689 has been written up to address compiling modules to load RSLs from Flash Builder.

Do you have any idea of what should be done to fix it? I don't want to use NVIDIA driver from their site neither nouveau, I want to use the one from the repo. If you know how to solve it, instead of only pointing the solution, also tell why this is happening, it will help me and other people with the same problem too!
If you need additional information please ask me.
Thanks!!

About the lib32-nvidia-utils, I just installed because it's written in the wiki http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NVIDIA#Installing: "Note: On 64 bit systems, For 32-bit programs to take advantage of nvidia-utils you must also install the equivalent lib32 package (for example lib32-nvidia-utils)."

• Loading native code lua modules

I'm trying to load a C lua module into my Lightroom Plugin. Unfortunately I can't get it to work and keep getting the error:
An internal error occurred
Could not load toolkit script: PluginGUI-OSX
This is an Objective-C code lua library and the error occurs on the following line in my lua script:
require 'PluginGUI-OSX'
I've also tried preceding this with the following, but still I get no luck:
package.path = package.path..";./?/init.lua;./?.so"
Has anyone ever had luck trying this? Or does anyone on the Lightroom team know it to be impossible?
Thanks in advance
Rich

Hello,
I've got a similar problem. But I don't want to include native code. As in every example plugin I've found, I wanted to extract portions of my code to other scripts (just as FtpUploadTask.lua in FTP example)
But whenever I add the following line to my ExportServiceProvider I get an error:
require 'RhubarbHttpClient'
The error message looks as described in the post above:
Plug-in error log for plug-in at: /Users/krizleebear/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Modules/rhubarb-gallery.lrdevplugin
**** Error 1
An error occurred while attempting to run one of the plug-in’s scripts.
Could not load toolkit script: RhubarbHttpClient
**** Error 2
Could not load the post-processing filter from this plug-in.
Could not load toolkit script: RhubarbHttpClient
When I just put my code from RhubarbHttpClient.lua directly into my ExportServiceProvider, it's working.
The full code can be viewed on google-code:
http://code.google.com/p/rhubarb-gallery/source/browse/#svn/trunk/rhubarb_lightroom_plugin /rhubarb-gallery.lrdevplugin

• Modules fail to load

Hi there
I've been away for some time and for some reason i can't get the installation to work .
When arch boots i get the message that modules fail to load , and afterwards when i try to startx , i get a black screen and nothing happens.
Also i remember using hal , but now it's not needed . Do i need to add anything else in rc.conf ?
I only have Modules = (broadcom tg3) and nothing else.
Thanks for the help

You probably need those modules, but have you tried removing those two modules just to see if they are the problem? Once you figure out which one it is, finding a solution will probably be easier.

700 Brtools are only working in a standard environment on Oracle 10. Technical there is a possibility to run 700 Brtools with an Oracle 10 instant client against a Oracle 9.2 database, but this setup is not standard, needs some more manual changes and is therefore not supported.

• PE 5.0.2 - Could not load the FastCore Routines module because the file could not be found.

The "view and organize photos" mode seems to work just fine, but when I attempt to open the "edit and enhance photos" mode, I get an error box with this message: "Could not load the FastCore Routines module because the file could not be found", and then it shuts down after I click ok. I have installed the 5.0.2 patch and have uninstalled and reinstalled the program, to no avail. I had no firewall running when installing the program, nor do I own the program "Clean Sweep". What can I do?
Thanks for any help
OS = Windows Vista.

CANNOT LOAD FASTCORE ROUTINES, MMX CORE ROUTINES,
MULTIPROCESSOR SUPPORT NOT FOUND
SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED - STEP BY STEP
I made the repair for Elements 5 on an XP version Operating System PC by doing this:
I went to....
Start / All Programs / Accessories / Windows Explorer
and selected.....
My Computer / C:
which is my drive with its operating system where Photoshop is installed.
I then clicked....
Documents and Settings
Then - in each - of the three icons I found.....
All Users, Default User, and Owner
I went into....
Application Data / Adobe / Photoshop Elements
In that last file I removed ALL the contents.... IN EACH !
After rebooting, my Photoshop Elements 5 started to work.
I think with research and all I invested five hours. May this save you 4 1/2.
I was paranoid and put the contents of each file into a new file I identified
clearly in case it I have to replace one of the parts out in the future.
I hope this is of help to some future reader.
Other comments here seem to indicate that this solution has
worked in version 4 and up and fixed early versions of Vista.
This appears to be a common problem after a drive repair or partitioning.
Why they can't just tell us this is a mystery to me.

• Could not load the Multiprocessor Support module because it wont work with

Here is a strange error message, there are actually 2.
But they arent making PSE 8 unusable, just very annoying.
Here is the first one,,,,,,,,,
"Could not load the Multiprocessor Support module because it wont work with this version of photoshop."
When I open PSE 8, on my new Intel Mac, I get this message and nobody seems to know what the problem is.
My new Mac has 2 processors? Could that be what the message is saying?
But when I click the error message away, PSE 8 works fine.
There is another one too,
"Could not load the FastCore Routines module because it doest not work with this version of photoshop."
I just click it away and no problem, just a pita.
So if they dont effect it, I shouldnt worry, but my classmates are concerned.
Do you here have any idea what it is, and how to get rid of it?
There is info on the web about it, but no solutions.
Thank you,
Jane

This is interessting, as does my new Mac have 2 processors or 2 cores? I havent come across how this works yet, nor how to find it on my Mac.
Yes, I just found a site which explains it well,
http://macperformanceguide.com/Optimizing-Cores.html
I have one processor with 2 cores.
And the equivalent of the Task Manager is the Activity Monitor, where I see only one processor.
You sure explained this well! I now think we can find the problem, though its not effecting either my PS or PSE, its just an annoying message that I have to click away.
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407809.html
Is what Adobe tells us, this is for Windows, but it could apply to Macs?
I have tons of third party plug ins, and this problem is within the last month, and I didnt see the error messages before. Thats confusing, as I would have thought it would have shown up right from the start.
I just moved some of my plug ins, lets see if this changes anything, nope, but only one message appeared this time.
This will be fun to see what the real answer is! As I find out more, I will add it here.
Thank you,
Jane

• Could not load the Bigger Tiles Modules

I use Photoshop CS5 on iMac 3.06GHz IC2D with Lion 10.7.2. When I start Photoshop a Popup says : Could not load the Bigger Tiles Modules because it does not work with this version of Photoshop. Pity, but how to disable this Popup at every start ?

Sure... I hope this helps and this is what you mean. It is the case that I installed it fresh on a new machine, but maybe I checked a wrong box along the way. I certainly have no reason to deny installing it any other way. Regardless, it was only a slight annoyance and such an easy fix.
