Flex and Mapping api's

Open Question, could anyone suggest strategies to integrate
mapping
internally into a flex application.
From what I've determined:
Yahoo! doesn't have a Flex 2.0 map API (with no firm release
date), just Flex 1.5
At least one workaround has been provided,
http://www.asfusion.com/blog/entry/inserting-yahoo-maps-in-a-flex-2-application
which is creative, but not necessarily intuitive.
& there are several nice flex implementations
http://www.arcwebservices.com/awx/index.jsp
http://plasma.nationalgeographic.com/mapmachine/index.html
but no raw materials to use in my own app.
Fair to say that at the present time the easiest method is to
use a javascript
api, perhaps using a method like the following:
http://coenraets.com/viewarticle.jsp?articleId=100
http://coenraets.org/samples/flexmaps/flexmaps.html
where certain interface components are in flash.
As I said, a very open question. Thanks.

Sorry for the late reply.
Hi Roman,
As you said, need some details based on SAP BW query Web-API.
The main aspect is to play around with Flex data during run time using Xcelsius.

  • Oracle Maps API and ADF

    Tried posting this on the Mapviewer board, but that group is d-e-a-d.....
    I'm trying to build an ADF application using JDeveloper around the Oracle Maps API.
    I don't have a lot of experience with either, so this is probably an easy one.
    Does anyone have an example of using a panelStretchLayout with the div that contains the map? I've been fighting for several hours trying to get a map that auto stretches when the user expands the browser window. I tried putting the div that contains the map in a panelGroupLayout, but I can't seem to get the map to resize when the browser resizes. I've read the rules about when a panelGroupLayout is strechable, and when it isn't.
    Is there a best practices for this? Seems like anyone building an ADF app around the Maps API would need this.
    As always, thanks for the help

    Hi !
    I came accross this tutorial in Oracle website.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/dvt/gant_chart_pivot_table.htm
    In my case I could not make the adding a map part work and got geoencoder connection error but maybe I am missing a point which you may solve.
    Hope it may help.

  • Flex 2 + Yahoo API problemmo....

    Hi there,
    I've put together an application which incorporates the
    Yahoo! Maps API. More
    info regarding that can be found
    here
    - the problem I am experiencing at the moment is with markers I've
    added to the yahoo map not functioning properly when incorporated
    into Flex 2. After adding a marker to the map from within the Flash
    8 environment and then running it (ctrl + enter), everything works
    like it should - the marker displays correctly and when clicked,
    provided it has a description, the marker expands to display the
    description.
    After publishing the API from Flash 8 and loading it into
    Flex, the map works like it should but the markers do not expand to
    display the description after clicking on one. I find I have to
    keep clicking on the marker i want to expand loads of times to get
    it to expand at least once (if i'm lucky). Is there a workaround or
    some fix for this? A working example of what I'm trying to achieve
    can be viewed
    here.
    Launch the site and click on any marker displayed on the map - it
    expands properly containing links - question is, was that
    application developed in Flex?
    Any help on this would be grand.
    Thanks for your time,
    - Tony

    Hi
    I don't know how you are using yahoo maps but at the moment
    i'm building an application using it and everything is running very
    well, i'm amazed on how easy is to work with their API. So here is
    a link from where i've started maybe it will give you some hints.

  • Google Maps API for flash not working on real device iPad

    I use flash builder 4.5.1 to build app for Google Maps API for iOS (map_flex_1_20.swc), and it is working well even on the simulator on PC, but after I generate the IPA use FB4.5.1, and install on iPad , it not working at all, only show a while screen.(I used the TabbedViewNavigatorApplication, the botton Tabbar is working, I can switch the page, but on the maps page show nothing)
    I also try the code on Flash CS5.5  using map_1_20.swc , when on the PC debug, it works well,(swf files), but install the AIR ipa on the iPAD, show nothing only a white sceeen.
    anyone  met this problem?

    You can also use the MapQuest Mobile Flash Maps API.  It's supported by MapQuest and does not need any work-arounds in order to work with the Flash Platform.  It also takes advantage of the "build once, deploy anywhere" functionality in Flex 4.5+.  MapQuest provides a demo app for Android and iOS and has the source code available for download, too.

  • PI 7.1 : Taking a input PDF file and mapping it to a hexBinary attribute

    Hello All,
    We have a requirement which involves taking in an input PDF file and mapping it to a message type with binary attribute and sending it to an R3 system.
    Can anyone please detail the steps or point us to the correct documents for setting up the scenario.
    The scenario is file to Proxy adapter. The part which we need assitance is pulling up the input pdf and mapping it to binary field.
    Thanks.
    Kiran

    Thanks Praveen,Mayank,Sarvesh and Andreas for your  valuable help with the issue.
    I was able to successfully pick up the binary PDF file from a file server , encode it using Base 64 and post it to R3.
    I used the following code snippet and added the mentioned jar files to create a new jar file which was used as java mapping in the operation mapping.
    import com.sap.aii.mapping.api.StreamTransformation;
    import com.sap.aii.mapping.api.*;
    import com.sap.aii.utilxi.base64.api.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class Base64EncodingXIStandard implements StreamTransformation{
         String fileNameFromFileAdapterASMA;
         private Map param;
         public void setParameter (Map map)
              param = map;
              if (param == null)
                   param = new HashMap();
         public static void main(String args[])
              Base64EncodingXIStandard con = new Base64EncodingXIStandard();
              try
                   InputStream is = new FileInputStream(args[0]);
                   OutputStream os = new FileOutputStream(args[1]);
                   con.execute(is, os);
              catch (Exception e)
                   e.printStackTrace();
    public void execute(InputStream inputstream, OutputStream outputstream)
                   DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) param.get("DynamicConfiguration");
                   DynamicConfigurationKey KEY_FILENAME = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
                   fileNameFromFileAdapterASMA = conf.get(KEY_FILENAME);
                   if (fileNameFromFileAdapterASMA == null)
                        fileNameFromFileAdapterASMA = "ToBase64.txt";
              try
                   while ((len = inputstream.read(buffer)) > 0)
                        baos.write(buffer, 0, len);
                   str = Base64.encode(baos.toByteArray());     //buffer);
                   outputstream.write("<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"utf-8\"?><ROOT>".getBytes());
                   outputstream.write(("<FILENAME>" + fileNameFromFileAdapterASMA + "</FILENAME>").getBytes());
                   outputstream.write( ("<BASE64DATA>" + str + "</BASE64DATA></ROOT>" ).getBytes());
              catch(Exception e)
                   e.printStackTrace();
         byte[] buffer = new byte[1024*5000];
         ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
         int len;
         String str = null;
    I had to do the following configuration settings
    1)  Create a Sender Comm Channel with Adapter Specific message attributes and Filename checkbox checked.
    2) Use the Java Mapping in the Operation mapping.
    The scenario is working smoothly with out any issues.
    Thanks.

  • How to create Rules with Flex Field mapping in the bpm worklist

    I Have created a flex field label and was able to map to the flex field attributes .

    Can someone please help is understanding how to create Rules with Flex Field mapping in the bpm worklist .
    Even I am also searching for any scripts which will take the flex fields prompts and can directly create a label in the bpm worklist .
    Any pointers or suggestion is highly appreciated .

    Hi,
    SE38 -> Enter program
    Select Variants button and display. In the next screen, enter a variant name, (If not existing , press Create to create new one), else click on Change.
    Now the selection screen will display with a button "Variant Attributes" at the top.
    Click on that button.
    In the next screen, go to the selection variable column of the date field. Press F4 or drop down and select 'D' for date maintenance.
    In the column "Name of Variable (Input Only Using F4)" press F4 or drop down, select whichever kind of date calculation you want and save the variant.
    Now whenever you run the prgrm with this variant, date will be displayed by default.

    Thanks, Flex harUI, for the direction in regards to isolating build changes. That aside (still working on it), can you offer any direction in regards to my original question on SDK and AIR compatibility? I'm specifically looking for a version compatibility mapping or anything that definitively states, "Flex SDK x.y.z works with the following versions of AIR". This information is crucial for us in order to more specifically plan our own roadmap built upon these two frameworks as we consider both existing installations of our software and future distributions.

  • Read Attachments using Java Mapping API

    Hello,
    after investigating the Java Mapping API a little deeper I found some very interesting Interfaces "InputAttachments" and "Attachments" which could do exactly what is required:
    Reading attachments and convert them into base64 code.
    As I am not an experienced Java Programmer howeve, I am note sure how to use those interfaces.
    For example there is a method defined in interface "InputAttachments":
    Attachment getAttachment(String contentID)
    How do I use it? If I use it in a way like "InputAttachments.getAttachment("abc");" then I get the error that it is not a static method. However how do I instantiate "InputAttachments".? As it is an interface I am not sure how to do this.
    Any idea how to handle these methods?

    Hi,
    I am working on the similar. I am able to attach txt files and csv files but have trouble attaching xcel and pdf's. Any input is appreciated. Thanks

  • Flash, Flex, and the iPad

    While there is no shortage of iPad/Flash discussions on the Adobe and Apple forums, after searching for a couple hours now I have been unable to find the answers to my specific question.  So please forgive me if I missed it somewhere.
    As I understand it, Apple does not support Flash for the mobile and iPad devices.  This is reiterated in a number of Apple forum postings that I just read, as well as Steve Jobs' rant here:
    http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/
    However, I came across this Adobe press release from less than a year ago:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/ukchannelnews/2011/06/20/announcement-mobile-applications-for-andro id-blackberry-iphone-and-ipad/
    Apparently this Flex thing allows me to develop cross-platform mobile applications.  So I do some research on Flex, trying to figure out the difference between Flex and Flash.  I come across Adobe's FAQ here:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flex/faq.html#flex-flash
    It's not real clear to me, but it sounds like what they are saying is that Flex is simply a programmatic framework around which I can build Flash applications, especially helpful for those more familiar with traditional programming.  If this is the case, based on Adobe's press release above, it sounds like I should be able to use Flash on the iPad via Flex?  What am I missing?  Is there other differences between Flex and Flash?  Or perhaps is it the difference between an application and browser support (like Apple's Safari)?
    Thanks in advance for your patience, and your help.

    It's easy Pea...
    Flash is a plugin. It runs from withing the browser IE, Firefox, Safari, Opera, etc... It also can be run standalone, via special exe program on Windows platform.
    Although this is less common. Here are all the Flash versions: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
    AIR is a cross platform runtime, kind of like Java (build once run everywhere). But with AIR it's a bit more tricky. You have to compile your program to each target platform (Desktop, Andriod, BlackBerry, iOS) separately. It's not like with Java where you can indeed run your jar file on lot of platforms. AIR is essentially Flash "on steroids" as it mostly has the same API as Flash and builds on top of it. But AIR not in the pluging form, i.e. you don't need a web browser to run it from.
    Here are the latest AIR runtime: http://get.adobe.com/air/
    and SDK: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/air-sdk-download.html
    You will need AIR SDK to build AIR applications and it has to be overlayed on top of Flex SDK which you can find here:
    Flex SDK: http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Download+Flex+4.6
    Now Flex SDK is essentially a component framework. You will need a button in your application, or a Video component, right? So that is what Flex provides for you free of charge.
    Obviously this sound simple but Flex is much more then that and here is your
    Flex documentation: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/documentation.html
    So, Flex is a component framework which lets you build applications which target either Flash or AIR as executable runtime. For Flash it is called Web application and it runs from withing browser or standalone Flash player. For AIR it is called Desktop or Mobile project and it runs from withing AIR runtime which has to be installed on your device or bundled with your application.
    Now, speaking of Steve rants, yes, they wanted to kill Flash on their platform, there was even a guy there who was responsible for that result (I forgot his name but you can google), although Adobe never admited that and played it nice with Apple. Why they wanted to kill most expressive and complete vector and video engine on the web (Flash)? It's simple! This is beacase they wanted to play on their nice and cozy iOS/iPad/iPod playground alone! Because they want to control the delivery of the content from publisher to consumer. they want to stick their proprietory products and specifications in between and skim the money! That is why they don't need Flash in the browser. Flash allows people to publish and consume an impressive content without charging a dime! That includes H264 video among other things. And that is what Apple doesn't want to see.
    Good luck with Flex and everything else,
    SdS

    what is lookups
    Lookups are used to identify / request the data from mapping , i mean interupting the process and looking for data which was stored in some where and get that data and comback to process and continue with that data.
    why we can use for lookups.
    We will use these type of lookups in Message mapping for refering DB Lookup for data base which is not SAP, RFC lookups for SAP data
    Look up tables
    In the error handling topic we have seen the different validations which need to be performed on file.
    This can be done through Lookup.
    Some use cases:
    • Look up employee information.
    • Lookup for raising an alert.
    The purpose of the lookup may be:
    • To perform application-level validation of the data, before sending it to the backend.
    • To populate fields of the XML document with some additional data found in the backend application.
    There are two ways in which we can do lookup:
    • Call lookup method from GUI mapping.
    • Call lookup method from XSLT mapping.

  • Java Micro Edition and maps

    Hello all,
    I have recently mashed together a desktop application using swinglabs JxMapViewer. JxMapViewer basically does all the map downloading, rendering, etc for me and lets me concentrate on my application.
    Now I wish to port my application to Java Micro Edition, but JxMapViewer unfortunately doesn't work in Java ME. So I need a replacement.
    Does anyone know of a vendor independent (as in can load maps from many different servers, google, yahoo, nasa) mapping api that is designed to work under Java ME?

    Hi Friends,
       Could anybody here tell me where to find this com.sap.aii.mapping.api.StreamTransformation package?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Tamilarasan.

    Hi Tariq,
    No need to worry.
    If your machine is running on windows operating system,(remember your machine means from where you work on Repository and Directory Frameworks)
    Then look in this folder,
    C:\Documents and Settings\<youruserprofile>\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\javaws\cache\http\D<HOSTNAME>\P<J2EEPORT>\DMrep\DMrepository
    where <HOSTNAME> - host name of XI server.
    <J2EEPORT> - J2EE dispatcherport of XI server[generally it will be 50000 if instance number is 00 or it will 50000+(100 X Instance number)]
    <youruserprofile> - the userprofile with which your are working on your machine.
    in the directory you will find "RMaii_map_api.jar". Copy this   to your working directory for java mapping class program and set in classpath. You can also rename this jar file as the original name is "aii_map_api.jar".
    Thanks,

    Have followed the instructions found on: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/tutorial#api_key But we still receive an error stating our application is not authorised to use the API.
    Does this mean Google Maps is not authorinsg Business Catalyst anymore? (Perhaps since the integration of BC into the Adobe ecosystem??)
    Is anyone else having this issue or can anyone please urgently advise?
