Flex Mobile + crossdomain.xml

Ok, so, here's a fun one for you.
I have a webservice that the mobile app calls.  This works fine on a http://localhost/.... run, but when testing on the device, the device can't interpret localhost.
Which means that I have to:
1.) put the webservice on a domain (done)
2.) do a crossdomain.xml file?
     <?xml version="1.0"?>
     <cross-domain-policy>
           <site-control permitted-cross-domain-policies="master-only"/>
           <allow-access-from domain="*"/>
     </cross-domain-policy>
I mean, the domain has to be "*" because mobile apps can be anywhere....
Anyone have any insight on this?  I've tried using the webservice on my domain server, but to no avail.

Thanks for the reply.  I've done some further research and doubt that it might be due to crossdomain.xml, though it's still possible.
I can successfully introspect my webservice using the Flex wizard if I do http://localhost/webservice.asmx?wsdl, but I cannot seem to introspect it using http://www.domain.com/webservice.asmx?wsdl even though I can access both urls in my web browser.
I uploaded crossdomain.xml into my root so it was available at http://www.domain.com/crossdomain.xml but was still not able to introspect the service.
The reason why crossdomain.xml was mentioned in the first place is that through the webservice wizard, it says "crossdomain.xml required".
I'm not sure what's going on, but would certainly appreciate any suggestions.

  • Security Error in accessing Web service from Flex.Where to put crossdomain.xml in axis container?

    Hi guys.
    Typically webservices are invoked across domains. Flash has defined certain policies which prevent crossdomain access. The only way to bypass this security feature is to put a crossdomain.xml file within the server root of the webservice provider i.e. in our case at http://abc.com. A sample example of crossdomain.xml is as below:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "http://www.macromedia.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">
    <cross-domain-policy>
         <site-control permitted-cross-domain-policies="all" />
         <allow-access-from domain="*" secure="false"/>
         <allow-http-request-headers-from domain="*" headers="*" secure="false" />
    </cross-domain-policy>
    If the crossdomain.xml is not added the developer will get “Security Error accessing URL” type of messages.
    The above mentioned information should be enough for you to get your flex based WebService client up and running.
    We are using axis2 to build webservices. We deployed the webservices under axis2 container under repository/srvices folder . But in Flex when we try to call the webservices we were getting the exception saying security error in accessing url. The solution is we need to put the crossdomain.xml o that it is loaded at runtime and allow us to access. In tomcat if we put the file under ROOT directory we could accss the file and we were able to access the webservices deployed under Tomcat. But I googled for Axis2 container and couldnt find any solution.
    Please post the reply if anyone knows the solution to it.
    Thanks
    Raja

    Hi. So, I did take a quick look at the Axis2 standalone server and didn't see any way to server up a file such as crossdomain.xml. It seems like it might be a useful enhancement to have the ability to serve up files even if this functionality was very simple/limited and nothing like a full blown http server.
    I'd log an enhancement request against axis2 if this is something you'd like to have.

  • Crossdomain.xml issue - Accessing SAP from adobe FLEX

    Hi All,
    We are in the process of trying to integrate 4 SAP bapis exposed as Web services from adobe flex.
    When we do so we are getting a "security error accessing URL"
    The URL of our flex application is:
    http://10.10.0.48:8081/water0305/iden.html
    The WSDL of the web service is:
    http://10.10.0.66:8001/sap/bc/srt/rfc/sap/ZKK_BAPI_EQMT_DETAIL?sap-client=800&wsdl=1.1
    We looked at various forums and we found that adding a crossdomain.xml file to the root directory
    (at the destination server) will resolve the issue.
    I did implement all those steps on the R/3 side to add a crossdomain.xml to an ABAP WAS.
    crossdomain.xml on WAS
    however i still get those errors(security error accessing URL).
    Below is the code i use to access the SAP web service
    <mx:WebService
    id="EqmtDetailWS" showBusyCursor="true" fault="Alert.show(event.fault.faultString)" >
    <mx:operation name="EqmtDetail" resultFormat="e4x" result="getEquip_result(event);" fault="getFault(event);">
    <mx:request>
    <Equipment></Equipment>
    </mx:request>
    </mx:operation>
    </mx:WebService>
    We are  displaying the SAP info on a map service provided by esri so we included the load operation here.
    <-Loading the wsdl->
    private
    function onExtentChange(event:ExtentEvent):void {
    EqmtDetailWS.wsdl=
    "http://10.10.0.66:8001/sap/bc/srt/rfc/sap/ZKK_BAPI_EQMT_DETAIL?sap-client=800&wsdl=1.1&sap-user=******&sap-password=****&sap-language=EN&~transaction=iw51";
    EqmtDetailWS.loadWSDL();
    <Displaying the info from SAP>
    private function getEquip_result(event:ResultEvent):void {
    equip_desc = event.result.Equitext.Equidescr;
    txtAreaEquipDetail.htmlText = txtAreaEquipDetail.htmlText + "Equi. Desc. : " + event.result.Equitext.Equidescr + "\n";
    var material:String=event.result.Equimaster.Material;
    SAPIDAliasEquipDesc =event.result.Equitext.Equidescr;
    material=material.substring(14,18);
    txtAreaEquipDetail.htmlText = txtAreaEquipDetail.htmlText + "Material : " + material + "\n";
    txtAreaEquipDetail.htmlText = txtAreaEquipDetail.htmlText + "Serial No : " + event.result.Equimaster.Serialno + "\n";
    var costcntr:String=event.result.Equilocation.Costcenter;
    costcntr=costcntr.substring(7,10);
    txtAreaEquipDetail.htmlText = txtAreaEquipDetail.htmlText + "Cost Center : " + costcntr + "\n";
    CustomerID = event.result.Equisales.Customer;
    This is how we load the policy file.
    Security.loadPolicyFile(
    http://10.10.0.66:8001/sap/bc/bsp/sap/zroot/crossdomain.xml);
    This works fine when we run it from the IDE but throws up an error when we deploy it on the server
    So are we missing something ?
    Is there anything else to be done to overcome the security issue ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Karthik.

    Hi Rich,
    I followed the steps in your video when our system was R/3 4.7 (WAS 6.20) and the test worked fine, i.e. accessing the crossdomain by typing http://server:port/crossdomain.xml.
    I followed the same steps with our new version (we're undergoing an upgrade) but I kept getting the error message:
    "BSP Exception: the BSP URL /crossdomain.xml Does Not Contain Any Application Entries".  Then I saw Ivan post suggesting implementing OSS Note 1260386.  I applied the Note but I got the same error message.
    Then I ran function ICFBUFFER_INIT to make sure the buffer is cleared, cleared the cache in the browser and still got the same error message.
    Our system is ERP 6.0, NetWeaver 7.0, level 17 (BASIS Component is SAPKB70017).
    Please help.  Thank you.

  • Flex Mobile project scaling with Retina display iPad (3rd gen).

    Adobe et al,
    With the new iPad 3 we now have a ton more pixels to utilize. I'm familiar with and have already successfully tested the AIR 3.1+ commandline compiler option (-platformsdk) to get Retina display on the new iPad. In ActionScript mobile projects the content is rendered beautifully on the new iPad. But with Flex Mobile projects, something is happening that causes it to render incorrectly. It's retina display alright, but the size is way too small.
    Below is an image WITHOUT the -platformsdk build tag, that causes the app to be pixel doubled to fit on the new iPad:
    Notice that it's scaled proportionally, even though the text and components are slightly pixelated. Not a big deal, but noticeable on the device.
    This image is taken with the app rendering in Retina display (setting the -platformsdk pointing to iOS 5.1 SDK):
    As you can see, the text/components are rendered really clear, but the scale is way off. Obviously it's getting the width of 2048x1536 from the device, but it's way too small.
    How do I fix this? I've tried changing the applicationDPI, but it doesn't fix it. Setting a width/height of 1024x768 does nothing either. It seems we need to overrride a behavior that causes it to fit everything in so small.
    A little help?
    Thanks,
    iBrent

    Alright, kevinkorngut's answer was the right one. It appears that even though AIR 3.x can render high resolution apps, it still returns the incorrect DPI for the new iPad. In a Flex Mobile project you have to override the DPI using the method mentioned above.
    Here are the results I got:
    Using the runtimeDPIProvider property on the TabViewApplication tag (works for any of the three project types) I created a class that extends RuntimeDPIProvider. To detect which iPad I was on, I used the following code:
    override public function get runtimeDPI():Number
         var os:String = Capabilities.os;
         if(os.indexOf("iPad") != -1)
              if(Capabilities.screenResolutionX > 2000 || Capabilities.screenResolutionY > 2000)
                   return DPIClassification.DPI_320;
              } else {
                   return DPIClassification.DPI_160;
         } else {
              return Capabilities.screenDPI;
    I'm returning a DPI of 320 as this gives the best result that matches the proportions of the device. In other words, even though the iPad DPI is 264, setting the app to 320 gives the correct size at the new Retina display.
    In order for this to work, you must compile the app with the -platformsdk flag pointing to iOS 5.1 SDK, and currently that means you need a Mac running Lion with Xcode 4.3.1. Here's the adt command I used:
    adt -package -target ipa-test -storetype pkcs12 -keystore ~/Desktop/iOS_DevCert.p12 -provisioning-profile ~/Desktop/iOS_DevProfile.mobileprovision newiPadTest.ipa newiPadTest-app.xml newiPadTest.swf -platformsdk /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPh oneOS5.1.sdk
    Also, the -app.xml descriptor file must have the <requestedDisplayResolution>high</requestedDisplayResolution> within the <iPhone> tags.
    Thanks everyone for their replies!

  • Why am i not able to see any video on Flex Mobile project on tablet

    I am using the strobe media playback in my flex mobile application. I am able to play audio but no video is visible, if i double tap to change to full screen i can see a brief flash of the video then it gets dark again. i am streaming a mp4 file over http. The video displays properly in the emulator but not on my tablet. Can the video encoding have anything to do with it?

  • Flex Mobile 4.5.1: Package contents and URLLoader

    On Flash for web and desktop (Projector debugger), one can use a URLLoader to load local URLs (eg files off your hard drive).  This is very useful for some development purposes, as you just need to make sure any external files (JSON & PNG) are in the same relative path as the SWF, and you then don't need to worry about different code paths whether you're loading these external files from local storage or http.  URLLoader operates the same whether loading locally or remotely.
    Is there any way to easily get the same behavior on a Flex Mobile 4.5.1 app (specifically for an iOS target)?  Again, this is useful because in my live app, these external files will be loaded from our web server, but for testing purposes I would like to be able to run in a server-less mode and include them with the deployed debug IPA file.  My first problem is that I cannot seem to figure out how to deploy these files to the application in the first place - I tried adding my external-files folder to the Flex Build Path as an additional Source folder, but they still don't show up under the Package Contents for iOS tab.
    Any ideas?  Are there any include-extra-files-in-package options in the -app.xml?
    Or is there no way to use URLLoader for local storage on mobile, and I am stuck with using Embed?  (I guess besides Embed I could manually deploy the files to the iOS file system and use the AIR api for access, but that's still a different code path, defeating my goal - we have a decent bit of code built around the idea that URLLoader is agnostic)

    Edit: Realized my original answer wasn't correct, the files were being pulled in from another setting.
    After some experimenting, the answer is YES, and it's actually a bit unexpected: Just in fact adding the external files folder to the Flex Build path | Source Path actually pulls them all in.  It seems those directories are passed to both mxmlc and adt.  Unexpected surprise.

  • Where to place crossdomain.xml in SAP ECC IDES?

    Hi,
    I have a flex application which uses webservices generated in SAP IDES system. This flex app is stored in portal server. Since the physical servers are involved, I get a security error message, which says, "Security error accessing url". I browsed through the net and found that, we have to place a crossdomain.xml file in the web root folder of the server from where we are fetching the data. In my case, it would be SAP IDES system.
    I wanted to know where do I place this xml file in IDES? What would be it's location and how can I generate a URL to access this xml file?
    Please let me know about this, if anyone has done this before.
    Appreciate your help.
    Thank you,
    Warm regards,
    Deepak

    Hi Durairaj,
    As mentioned in that thread, I created a BSP application in the server and loaded crossdomain.xml. It was accessible from the browser too.
    This is the xml code which is there in crossdomain:
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    <cross-domain-policy>
      <allow-access-from domain="*" />
      <site-control permitted-cross-domain-policies="all" />
      <allow-http-request-headers-from domain="*" headers="*" />
      </cross-domain-policy>
    But this did not solve my purpose
    I have my flex application in a server, servera.abc.com and I am using the webservices of another server, serverb.abc.com
    I uploaded the crossdomain.xml in serverb.abc.com, in the following path through a BSP application:
    http://serverb.abc.com:8000/sap/bc/bsp/sap/zroot/crossdomain.xml
    But I still get the 'security accessing url' message in flex. It doesn't load the wsdl.
    I'm also using this piece of code in initialize event of the application in flex:
                           private function initSecurity():void{
                        Security.allowDomain("*");
                        Security.loadPolicyFile("http://serverb.abc.com:8000/sap/bc/bsp/sap/zroot/crossdomain.xml");
                        Alert.show("crossdomain xml loaded....");
    Where am I going wrong here?

    I'm try to building an app for mobile with a flex mobile project.
    The UI is gonna be something like in the picture:
    I would like to know witch is the best practies to put all the grafics element into my views.
    For example, for the bricks (that comes from an xml) i created a component, inside the component i put my fxg file in a group with a gap:
    My View:
    <s:VGroup gap="10">
            <customComponents:BrickComponent/>
            <customComponents:BrickComponent/>
            <customComponents:BrickComponent/>
        </s:VGroup>
    BrickComponent:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:Group xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"

        </fx:Declarations>
        <assets:Brick/>
    </s:Group>
    The same for the tshirt.
    It is a good way like this?
    And draw and import from flash catalyst?
    Thanks a lot

    You might want to look into using .FXG files for your graphics.

  • Flex Mobile : URLLoader bytesTotal always at 0 when loading file

    Hi !
    I'm trying to load external file with UrlLoader in a Flex Mobile Project ( Initialy it was with Data/Services Options of Flash Builder, but I have the same problem ). On the complete event, it work on the desktop ( bytesTotal, xml... ), but when i install my application on my nexus one ( air version : 2.5.0.1660 ), i've no data ( bytesTotal = 0 ), but the cache of the application has grown
    The application has these autorisations :
                <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"/>
                <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE"/>
                <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION"/>
    If someone can help me...
    Thx !
    Vince

    After messing with the URLLoader for a native windows AIR app I gave up on it. That object will return 200, ok, complete, while failing to do what it says it did.
    I never found any way to catch a real error from the server with any of the event listeners for URLLoader.  Instead I used HTTPService, it acutally returns useful data on server errors.  Here is an example, all this is tucked into my own class.
    var service:HTTPService = new HTTPService();
                   service.url = url;
                   service.resultFormat = HTTPService.RESULT_FORMAT_E4X;
                   service.method = URLRequestMethod.POST;
                   service.addEventListener(ResultEvent.RESULT,serviceResult);
                   service.addEventListener(FaultEvent.FAULT,faultResult);
                   service.send(vars);
    private function serviceResult(eResult:ResultEvent):void
                   var objResult:Object = eResult;
                   if( objResult.result is XML )
                        xmlData = eResult.result as XML;
                        trace(xmlData);
                        dispatchEvent( new Event('eComplete') );
                   else
                        //something wrong
                        trace('BAD! No XML Returned: '+eResult.result);
                        dispatchEvent( new Event('eError') );
    private function faultResult(e:Event):void
                   if( e is ErrorEvent )
                        trace( ErrorEvent(e).text );
                   else if ( e is FaultEvent )
                        trace( FaultEvent(e).message.toString() );
                   else
                        trace( 'Unhandled error' );
                   dispatchEvent( new Event('eError') );

    I've read in several documents about TLF not supported in Flex Mobile. I then read about text fields vs textArea and css Style sheets.

    Some browsers (Safari comes to mind) won't do borders at all,
    and others (I
    don't recall which) can actually get surly when you try. I
    don't recommend
    that you try to style form elements to that level.

  • Flex mobile 4.6 app works inside flash builder but not in android emulator

    Originally posted on stackoverflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8663892/flex-mobile-4-6-app-works-inside-flash-builder- but-not-in-android-emulator
    I have a basic flex mobile 4.6 app and it works fully fine in the flash builder built-in emulator using an android device profile like aria...
    It also launches fine in the android emulator but one particular view shows blank (and this view works fine in flash builder).
    Before I get in to many details of the view are there any categorical gotchas that can be causing this?
    I can't seem to get the trace statements from the app to show in 'adb logcat'. It seems I need to compile a debug version of the apk but I don't know how to do this. I use the 'Export Release Build' from the Project menu in flash builder and it doesn't seem to have an option for debug=true.
    The problematic/blank view basically uses the stagewebview and iotashan's oauth library to call linkedin rest apis... A different (and working) view can make restful web service calls in the emulator fine, so it doesn't seem to be an internet permission.
    The source code contained in the problematic/blank view is almost identical to the tutorial found at:http://www.riagora.com/2011/01/air-and-linkedin/
    The differences are: a) The root tag is a View b) I use StageWebView instead of HtmlContainer c) I use my own linkedin key and tokens.
    I would appreciate it if someone can provide me with some pointers on how to troubleshoot this situation. Perhaps someone can tell me how to debug the app while running in the emulator (I think I need the correct adt command arguments for this which matches the 'Export Release Build' menu but adds the debug param?)
    Thanks for your help in advance.
    Comment Added:
    I suspect that this has to do with connections to https:// api.linkedin.com and https:// www.linkedin.com. The only reason I can think of that the same code is not having issues inside of Flex Builder but indeed having issues in the Android emulator is something to do with certificates. Any ideas?

    Thanks er453r,
    I have created a project that clearly reproduces the bug.  Here are the steps:
    1) Create a UrlLoader and point it to https://www.google.com (HTTPS is important because http works but HTTPS does not)
    2) Load it
    3) Run in Flash Builder 4.6/Air 3.1 and then run in Android emulator.  The former works with an http status 200.  The latter gives you an ioerror 2032.  I am assuming what works in Flash Builder is supposed to work in the Android Emulator and what what works in the emulator is supposed to work in a physical device (plus or minus boundary conditions).
    I see a certificate exception in adb logcat but not sure if it's related...
    Here is the self contained View code which works with a TabbedViewNavigatorApplication:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

  • Flex Mobile Application with online database

    Hi,
    I would like to create a Flex Mobile Application but this one have to be read/connect  to a online database ?
    I don't found any tuto or infos about that...
    Could you please tell me if it's possible and if yes, how to do that
    Thanks in advance !

    I don't understand one thing...
    There are different type to do a connection between Flex and PHP.
    Which one is the best ?
    1. With AMF (Flex :  service-config.xml, RemoteObject) (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/crud_flex_php_zend.html)
    2. With Zend Framework (Flex : Callresponder, Time,...)  already included in Flash Builder 4.5 (http://devzone.zend.com/1701/flex-and-zend-framework_part-1/)
    3. With Zend Server and Flash Builder 4.5 with PHP (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash-builder/articles/flashbuilder-php-part1.html)
    It's three differents approach but in 2 & 3, it's auto configured with Flex.. however to do a connection between Flex Mobile & PHP (online), I have to use the solution 1
    So, if somebody can help me to explain and understand the difference between that.
    thanks
