Flv rollover

Where do I look to find a tutorial on making a short swf with
an embedded flv start on rollOver and stop on rollOut?
I'm looking to make little thumbnail video previews that
react to mouse rollovers.
Thanks for your help.

You should be able to use the common mouse event commands and
then control your flv with flv class calls. I don't have a tutorial
for you but you can look up the class in: Flash
Help>>Components>>Component Language
Reference>>FLVPlayback Comoponent
You will probably need to use an 'invisible' button over the
thumbnail, then call to the path of your flv for control.

  • FLV in rollover slidelet: audio just barely not synched with video

    I have several FLVs (slide videos) in my project (65 slides total) and all work perfectly except for the one that appears in a rollover slidelet. The audio just barely lags the speakers lip movement. This occurs in both Preview and Publish. I've tried various setting for the FLV and slidelet but haven't been able to get it synched up. Further complicating this is the fact that applying the 5.0.2.630 patch has essentially blown up my Captivate install (I have a separate post on that) and now sometimes when I preview this slide or view the published project, no audio at all plays. I have seen some posts indicating that these sorts of issues occur depending on system processing speeds but my system meets the Tech Specs for Cap 5.0 so I am not sure how that relates. I also wonder how I can anticipate what will happen for end users; there are probably some specs out there about that, but I admit I haven't dug those up yet. Below are the settings I'm using for the rollover slidelet. Thanks.

    I'm wondering if I should update my bios. To date, I've done the following:
    Upgraded  from 6 gigs of ram to 24 gigs of DDR3 1600
    Added three hard drives with two of them on Raid 0. Total is 5 hard drives
    Just picked up a PNY GTX-470 display adaptor
    Upgraded to CS5
    This thing should be halling ***! But Multi-Camera mode is still very sluggish.

  • Help with simple AS3 rollover plays flv

    hi Folks
    I am brand new to AS but am committed to learning it.  This is my very first simple project....
    I would like an flv on the stage to play back when you roll over an invisible button next to it.  I have three layers in the Timeline: a button, a video and an actions layer
    I have imported the flv to the stage ("clouds"), and made the button.  The code I have so far on the actions layer on frame one is:
    clouds_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, playClouds);
    function playClouds(event:MouseEvent):void {
    play("clouds");
    playClouds();
    As I understand this: On the first line we define the button instance (clouds_btn); add an event listener to it; describe in the parentheses the parameters: a rollover mouse event triggering the function I have named "playClouds"
    Then I write the function: naming, identifying it as a mouse event.  The actual function between the curly braces has me stumped and that is as close as I could come by myself.  I can't find a list of "actions" anywhere- (play, gotoandPlay, etc) and i am very unclear on the syntax
    Then on the last line I call the function, which i *think* is necessary here.
    Questions:
    Do I need a stop(); anywhere in this code.  Why?
    Do I need 2 functions (rollOn, rollOff) to make this work?
    I am sure the code and my understanding of it needs some real help...
    Any hard info, pointers to documentation, online resources, etc. would be great.  Its a pretty hard thing to learn on your own......
    Thanks!

    If you have planted the video along the timeline, then your code should be...
    stop();  // to stop the timeline in the first frame
    clouds_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, playClouds);
    function playClouds(event:MouseEvent):void {
         play(); // to play the timeline

  • Swap flv file from rollover

    I am fairly new to web design and Dreamweaver. I created a
    simple Flash photo album and I want to activate this and other flv
    files when I rollover submenu buttons in a different table. I know
    how to do this with just images.
    I am trying to keep this simple. I don't know Flash well
    enough yet to do this all in Flash. Help if you can! Thanks!

    Anybody know how to do this?

  • External flvs playing in the same component

    I'm trying to create a video gallery for a website I'm

    www.leilahstar.com. The concept of the video gallery is similar to
    the picture gallery except when you rollover on the video

    it, the flv file should play in the framed pane. Can you please
    give me a possible solution to make it work asap?
    This code below is actually closey related to the code I've
    created for the picture gallery under "Pic Flics" links.

  • Rollover on Video

    I am an flash newbie, so this may be a FAQ I can't find
    because I'm using the wrong terms. I am creating a custom flash
    video player interface. I have managed to put a video element (not
    a component...just "New Video..." in the Library) on the stage, and
    add play and pause buttons with appropriate behaviors. The buttons
    are custom buttons created in photoshop and imported into the flash
    movie. The are positioned directly over the video element itself,
    so they display on top of the playing video. All this works
    perfectly.
    Now I want the controls (buttons) to only appear when the
    moust is over the flash movie. When the user mouses out of the
    movie, the controls should disappear. I can't figure out how to do
    this. I tried:
    1: binding functions to onMouseOut and onMouseOver on _root
    -> simply doesn't work
    2: turning the video element into a movie clip -> the
    video no longer plays
    3: Adding a button with 0% alpha over the conroller area and
    listing for mouse events on it -> this works, but the invisible
    button consumes the mouse events so my controller buttons no longer
    work.
    4: Putting my controller buttons into a new movie clip (I
    have it set upt his way anyway) and listening for mouse events on
    thie movie clip itself -> I don't really understand what's
    happening with this one. I wrote hide() and show() methods and
    added them to the movie clip. They just show and hide the child
    elements of the clip as appropriate. For some reason, when I mouse
    out of the movie clip, the elements in it hide, but then it never
    respondse to rollovers again, as though the entire clip has been
    made invisible. Also, with this setup, again, my mouse clicks never
    make it to the buttons themselves.
    Is there a "right" way to do this? What approaches make
    sense? Again, ideally the controller I've designed would appear
    whenever the user rolls over the video itself, and then disappear
    when they roll out.
    Thanks!
    Geoff

    Try adding the video by dragging the MediaDisplay component
    to the stage and giving it the instance name of vid1. You can then
    add the Actionscript to control it and the content it contains.
    vid1.contentPath = "xxxx.flv"; // your flv name
    Then you can use the following code to show and hide your
    controls:
    vid1.onRollOver = function (){
    trace ("rollover video");
    controls._visible = true; // whatever your controls are
    called make them visible
    vid1.onRollOut = function (){
    trace ("rolled off of video");
    controls._visible = false; // whatever your controls are
    called make them invisible
    controls._visible is just an example. Replace the name
    controls with the instance name of your controllers.

  • Adding a toolTip to FLV seekbar component

    Does anyone know how to add a toolTip to the FLV seekbar
    component? I have been banging my head against the wall far too
    long for something as simple as this...
    It's a quick an easy fix for the play/pause, stop buttons. I
    added in a movie clip that appears on the rollover state of the
    button. The seekBar is handled differently and there is not a
    rollover state in that component. I tried adding in an invisible
    movieClip over the handle that contains a my toolTip button. I feel
    like the code is blocked out and I can't get an AddEventListener to
    work within the component. I ran trace statements for willTrigger
    and hasEventListener and both came up positive for being able to
    handle a mouseEvent. I am not sure why this will not work.
    Any thoughts would GREATLY be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    To my knowledge, the rollOver event will not work if the clip
    is invisible. Instead, try changing it's alpha to 0. With it's
    alpha at 0, the clip will still appear invisible but the events
    will fire. This will present another problem though. When you click
    on the seek area to seek somewhere else in the movie, you'll
    actually be clicking on your alpha = 0 movieclip. So, if you want
    the clip to still seek, you'll have to add a seeking function
    yourself to a click event on your alpha = 0 movieclip.

  • Regarding click flv video and make it fullscreen/enlarge

    As title, i amd using AS2 currently and i have 3 flv video imported  in 1 sigle swf file, what i want to do is when i rollover the flv, it enlarge abit and when i click on it , it become fullscreen or further enlarge. after that i jz simply click agin and make it back to original size.
    Any hep is welcome.

    You need to make sure you set the HTML output options to allow fullscreen from the publish settings. Afterwards in AS2 it's no longer a fscommand to go fullscreen, it's Stage.displayState. To assign that functionality you assign a click event to the movie or a button or anything you want to trigger it. Here's the code:
    I'll call what you want to click "myButton". That can be a MovieClip, Button, video, etc.
    myButton.onPress = function(evt:Object) {
        Stage.displayState = Stage.displayState == "normal" ? "fullScreen" : "normal";
    Click that object and it will toggle fullscreen or normal size.

  • Rollover event not playing movie in buttons/gotoandPlay function not playing frames

    This web site has 7 buttons (each button plays a different movie/each movie(.flv) has a stop action at frame 1). The first 3 buttons (button set 1) exist on the timeline from frames 1 to 28. Frame 29 has a blank key frame for the 1st 3 buttons. There is action script for the 3 buttons in frame 1. Next 4 buttons (button set 2) exist on the timeline from frame 30 to 90 as well action script.
    The stop actions are at frames 29,50,69,90. Labels are at frames 1,30,51,70. When testing the movie button set 1 functions as expected (the rollover event for each button plays its movie and selecting the button plays the correct frame) . Button set 2 is not working (the rollover event for each button is not playing the movie and selecting the button does not play the frame)
    Using cs4, as3
    This is my 1st attempt at an interactive project like this and am not sure how to make all the pieces work together. My action script is included below. I would appreciate a breakdown of why the movies are not playing as well as the gotoandPlay function for button set 2 and how can this be fixed. No errors are reported when I test the movie the buttons for button set 2 just do not function.
    Thanks in advance.

    Steps tried so far to troubleshoot functionality of buttons in 2nd set:
    -         Recreated the .flvs for all buttons in 2nd set. Re-imported to flash and swapped with existing video
    -         Thru event generator generated rollover and rollout code for each button
    -         Commented out the stop action for each video (stop actions remained active on main timeline on stage)
    -         Retested movie – video continuously looped on all buttons in 2nd set, GoToAndPlay function still not working
    -         In addition to the commented out stop actions for each video also commented out stop actions on main timeline for buttons in 2nd set
    -         Retested movie – Rollover functionality which causes the video to play works; GoToAndPlay function plays the correct frame but continues to play through to end of timeline

  • Embedded FLV plays slow

    I've got a couple of FLVs that I've embedded in my Flash
    movie. I've embedded them rather than having them stream because
    I'm essentially using them as RollOver effects so I need them to
    play INSTANTLY when you rollover something. Anyway... The issue is
    that they play fine when I preview my SWF in Flash, but once the
    SWF is embedded in a webpage and I view that page in IE or Firefox
    (I'm on WinXP) the FLVs play a little bit slower than they should.
    It's a slight slo-mo effect that I don't want! Is this a known
    issue? Should I just try to stream them off of the server rather
    than embed them? I assume there would be a lag and the FLVs
    wouldn't start playing instantly when I tell them to.
    Any input would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks a lot,
    Erik

    Solution...
    For whatever reason, SWFs don't play as fast in browsers.
    Period. This is probably old news to most of you. And I, too, have
    read this for years. This is just the first time that it's really
    caused any sort of issue. I created a FPS testing module that gives
    an on-screen display of the actual FPS of the SWF and then after
    250 frames gives you the average FPS for those 250 frames. The SWF
    is set to play at 50fps. When I test in Flash, I get just under
    48fps for the actual frame rate. When I preview in an HTML doc in
    Firefox, I get around 40-42fps. In IE7, 32-33fps. This is on a
    WinXP machine with an Athlon XP 2500+ cpu. The thing is, it's not
    even stressing the CPU when I do this test. The browsers just won't
    "let 'er fly"!
    Check out the SWF at:
    http://www.erikphansen.com/fps_test.htm
    Please let me know what you score and what system you are
    running it on!
    (Now that I have a few tabs open in Firefox, it's running a
    couple FPS slower, but my CPU still isn't showing much activity).
    Thanks a lot,
    Erik

  • Muilti-Streaming FLVs problem

    im working on this template and have been fine so far untill
    now when trying to add more than 1 streaming FLV in the WORKS
    section, the first video works fine on the first viewing of that
    page but if you click on the first thumbnail again the video just
    gets stuck on the buffering loop, also if you try to click on
    another thumbnail (the first 4 are video) they just dont seem to be
    working just get stuck on the buffering stage again im sure there
    somthing little or somthing in my face thats wrong but i just can
    see it.
    to view the site and see what i mean click on the link below
    and goto the WORKS section
    [url=http://www.nwmsltd.com/flash]http://www.nwmsltd.com/flash[/url]
    this is the thumbnail button code
    on (rollOver) {
    gotoAndPlay("s1");
    on (releaseOutside, rollOut) {
    gotoAndPlay("s2");
    on (release) {
    if (_root.k<>1) {
    _root.g1 = _root.g;
    //this tell Flash which frame to goto in the gall movie clip
    _root.g = 1;
    _root.text="01";
    _parent._parent._parent.gall.gotoAndPlay("s1");
    this is my streaming video code which is in the gall movie
    clip which is holding bid _p movie clip where all the code is on
    the first 4 frames the following code is on each frame just the
    video url is different

  • How to I get an FLV Skin to display on external sites?

    This is thee most frustrating thing! I've been trying to get
    my FLV skin to display on other sites when embedded, but the video
    is the only thing that shows up. There are no play back controls;
    nothing! I can view things just fine on my site (so that is NOT the
    problem) – it's just not displaying on other sites.
    I am using an FLV component and I do have all the necessary
    files loaded in the same folder. It's just when I try embedding the
    SWF file on an external site, the only thing that shows up is the
    video w/ no controls or skin.
    Is there embedding code to include the second SWF file?
    OR
    Is there a better way in creating a SWF file that includes
    the FLV component? ActionScripting or something that needs to be
    added???
    If so, please explain! I got ALL DAY AND NIGHT! This is
    driving me up the wall. There is NOTHING on the web that talks
    about this.
    Thanks!!!!!

    I found a link which informs that not all servers allow the MIME type for "f4v" files. . .
    http://forums.devshed.com/flash-help-38/how-do-i-make-f4v-files-play-in-a-web-610155.html
    Also, when I tried inserting a FLV object using Media>FLV the menu option only allowed me to insert FLV files, not F4V files.  So that comes back to the issue of what type of container you would be using since the Dreamweaver FLV container does not support F4V.

  • FLV File does not play when published to my web server

    Hi. I have created a short video in VC3 and selected the FLV option to create a web page. When I uploaded the entire file content to my web server (windows 2003 server hosted at Network Solutions) the FLV file will not play. Now... if I do the same with a WMV tile, the video plays.
    You can view the file at
    http://www.airforcehomeseller.com/videos/va_education/VATutorials/index.htm
    We have another video published in WMV format, although the video vs audio sync is out of wack at the moment, at
    http://www.airforcehomeseller.com/videos/Energy%20Pricing%20101/index.htm
    What am I doing wrong?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi again
    You should probably double-check to ensure the standard.js file was also copied in when the HTML page was imported. It should be there but it never hurts to double check.
    You might also perform a double-check to ensure things ended up in the correct folder (if you are organizing your project into folders). It could be that you moved the HTML page into a different folder and orphaned the JavaScript file.
    Cheers... Rick
