Fndcp_tmsrv.read_R_pipe - many Active Sessions
I have strange situation with many active sessions of following procedure
fndcp_tmsrv.read_R_pipe(...) (*18-20 active sessions*)
I found several suggestions execute following procedure:
execute dbms_shared_pool.keep('APPS.FNDCP_TMSRV');
But these objects already have KEPT=YES in view v$db_object_cache!
Do you have any advice?

Counting how many active sessions in a webapp
Hi folks,
I was wondering if it is possible to count how many active sessions that there currently are in a webapp? I've looked at the ServletContext and ServletConfig classes, but I can't find anything. Any ideas?
Cheers,
Raj.HttpSessionListener was introduced in servlet spec 2.3 which is supported in Tomcat 4.0 but not 3.3.
If upgrading to 4.0 is not an option, there is no elegant way to get what you need. There is no API call that returns all the active sessions so you must do it yourself. One way is to create a class that implements HttpSessionBindingListener to track your sessions. Instantiate it on start-up and add its reference as a session attribute when the session is first created. You can then update your custom session info in the valueBound and valueUnbound methods. -
Scalability Issues - Too Many Active Sessions?
Hello,
I'm having an issue with an application I built for one of the campuses at the college I work at. The application is a queuing system where there are stations for students to check in, admin stations where staff can see these students and "call" them, and displays outside each employees office that shows the student that was called. There are about 20 of these last type of display panels. I have the following code in my page footer to poll the DB for the most recent called student for a specific room:
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
var refresh_region = function( workstation_in, div_in ) {
$.get(
'wwv_flow.show',
{"p_request" : 'APPLICATION_PROCESS=F_NEXT_STUDENT',
"p_flow_id" : $v('pFlowId'), //app id
"p_flow_step_id" : $v('pFlowStepId'), //page id
"p_instance" : $v('pInstance'), //session id
"x01" : workstation_in
function(data) {
$(div_in).html(data);
setTimeout(function() { refresh_region( workstation_in, div_in ) }, 5000);
refresh_region( '&P7_WORKSTATION_IN.', '#next_student_div' );
//-->
</script>The OnDemand process, F_NEXT_STUDENT runs the following query and returns the result:
select a.FIRST_NAME || ' ' || a.LAST_NAME
into full_name
from ONESTOP_QUEUE a
where a.WORKSTATION_ID_CALLED = in_workstation_id
and a.STATUS = 'CALLED'
and a.QUEUE_ID = (
select min( c.QUEUE_ID )
from ONESTOP_QUEUE c
where c.WORKSTATION_ID_CALLED = in_workstation_id
and c.STATUS = 'CALLED');However, when all of these display panels are turned on (and I use code like this in other pages for similar purposes) the application becomes sluggish and eventually unresponsive. At first we had the application running off a box with Oracle XE. We eventually migrated to a full blown 11g install with APEX Listener and GlassFish. My DBA says everything looks ok on the DB side so I've been trying to dig in other areas to see where the bottleneck may be. After inspecting the Active Sessions report in APEX, I saw that there's a ton of connections being generated (> 30,000). This doesn't seem like a good thing to me and I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong.
At first I was using $.post() instead of $.()get. I was also using setInterval() instead of a setTimeout() loop. However, none of these changes seemed to really help the situation much. I'm at a loss for how else to improve the performance of this application. Any suggestions on what I can try?
Most of the app's functionality is on apex.oracle.com
WORKSPACE: SCCC_TEST
USER/PASS: TEST/test

Thanks in advance for any help.Hi Patrick,
UPDATE as of 3PM Eastern:
This afternoon all users lost the ability to connect to the application. My DBA is still reviewing logs but it seems that the error isn't on the DB side. The application came back up after he restarted the Apex listener. We found a bunch of the following error in the Glassfish server.log file:
[#|2013-02-25T14:34:39.021-0500|WARNING|oracle-glassfish3.1.2|com.sun.grizzly.config.GrizzlyServiceListener|_ThreadID=11;_ThreadName=Thread-2;|GRIZZLY0023: Interrupting idle Thread: http-thread-pool-80(73).|#]The max threads is currently set to 100.
After we came back up I went to page 4350:45 and cleared out all sessions. After a couple minutes I rechecked the number of sessions on this page:
Total Sessions: 27,674
Distinct Users over all sessions = 2
Sessions older than 15 minute(s) = 4Seems like way too many sessions to have after just a couple minutes.
End UPDATE
Again, thank you for taking the time to reply. Everything seems to be working fine for the past couple days, but I figured I'd provide some current data, especially since I'm still curious about all these "sessions".
Are we talking about page 4350:45 which shows the following information
Total Sessions: 9
Distinct Users over all sessions = 4
Sessions older than 1 day(s) = 0
Where does it show 17,400 sessions for you? It almost appears that your daily APEX jobs are not running which do normally purge old APEX sessions automatically. See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37097_01/doc/doc.42/e35129/dbms_jobs001.htm
Yes, this was the page I was referring to. I just checked it now and it showed me the following:
Total Sessions: 10,236
Distinct Users over all sessions = 2
Sessions older than 1 day(s) = 0And it does appear that the APEX jobs are running since there are no sessions older than 1 day... unless I'm interpreting this information incorrectly.
Also, I was able to get some more data regarding page loading using the Debug info:

This is consistent with all of the longer page views. As a side note, my DBA did turn archive log mode back on this weekend.
Again, everything seems to be running smoothly at the moment so the above data is more to help satisfy my curiosity about the inner workings of Apex.

Scale up curve on "Average Active Sessions"
In Grid Control 11g, Targets -> Databases -> Performance, the Average Active Sessions graph has the curve very low, almost near the bottom X axis. I know we don't have many active sessions. But it's also because this is a 4-node RAC with 96 CPUs in total. Without artificially reducing the CPU count, is there a way to scale up the curve so it does not "crawl" at the bottom? (It would be ideal if it could be manually controlled at will so when the number of active sessions does go through the roof, I can bring down the scale.)
Hi,
Did you get answer to your query ? I'm also looking for answer for this.
Basically, my requirement is get user impact due to any outage and I would like to know trend of users in the system at any given point of time. -
How to find active sessions count on a server in weblogic server console
Hi All,
I would like to know how to find active sessions count on a server in weblogic console. I am using weblogic 11g.
Regards,
Sunil.On the deployment, monitoring tab, you can select web applications. Here the number of current sessions are listed per web application deployed on the domain.
The deployment itself (deployments, application, monitoring, sessions) shows a list of sessions and where it is located. Unfortunately, there is no aggregation (but that is something you can so yourself as well).
When you are using a load balancer in front, the count of sessions on per web application on the domain gives you some clue how many sessions there are present on each server.
That is to say, when load balancer is using round-robin (and does that correct), you can take the total number of sessions divide it by the number of servers. -
How to get active sessions in tomcat 5.0?
Hi,
As I am working on monitoring related requirement, I need to get no. Of active sessions,sessions created, etc.
I found interesting code in ManagerServlet, As it has some protected methods, I cant call it from its object, I need to create servlet for my work, So I even can't extend ManagerServlet, So I've created one POJO for that, But now I need to populte the context and many other objects,
Is there any other way out for this?,
I really appriciate any kind of help. :-)

Any way to get number of active sessions
Hi,
With the deprecation of the HttpSessionContext interface as of Servlet API
2.1 for security reasons, is there any way to know how many sessions are
currently active in a given WebLogic instance?
Thanks,
Sanjiv
You could make it a singleton. The overhead is nothing ... trust me. Run
WebLogic through a profiler if you don't ;-)
Good luck,

For active sessions error what can i do ..Install j2ee or sdm locally How ?
Hi,
Here many developers r working on Web DynPro Java. So when morethan one developers deploying application parallely at that time sdm gives error of active sessions, I found some threads told me that we had to install j2ee or sdm locally . But that threads could not ans satisfactory. Please any one tell me satisfactory ans what i need to install locally and how ?
Regards,
Gurprit BhatiaHi,
WAS Web Application Server has SAP J2EE Engine in which Web Dynpro Applications run. Software Deployment Manager(SDM) component manages deployment process.
Once you deploy WAS locally, developer will have local server very similar to Tomcat kind... which you he/she can manage.
Developer need to login to local server portal using http://server url:50000/irj/portal
if u have any more doubts please let us know. -
Sir,
My Photoshop Element Programme has been suspended due to too many activation.
I can only think this is due to Hard Drive failure on my PC.
Initially reformate and re-install on same drive. But this drive Failed too.
I then replaced it with a New Drive and re-installed, but cannot get my programme running due to too many activations.
HELP.

SHUTDOWN: Active sessions prevent database close operation
Fri May 11 08:04:39 2012
Since last 3 years, we never faced such a situation even though many modules (oracle Apps) were implemented from time to time. This time OTL module is going live and consultants were running some procedure during backup start time.
Even after issuing 'addbctl.sh stop immediate', how come oracle did not close all the database sessions? How to prevent such situation in future?
Any help is highly appreciated.
Regards
Arizuddinyou can first do a alter system checkpoint and then try to shutdown the database.
You can also kill all the active user sessions from v$session and then shutdown the database. -
HI,
I'm getting the message "Too many activations" when trying to install Dreamweaver CS3.
It's a volume license key so you can't deactivate it from the other computer.
I've uninstalled from the other computer and it still says "Too many activations".
You can't call Adobe anymore about this product. They just want you to post in the forums.
So here I am......anyone from Adobe listening who can deactivate my previous installs?

Photoshop Elements 8: why too many activations? [was:activation]
Recently had new computer and the man that set it up for us loaded on our photoshop elements 8, the old computer was dumped, so is no longer in use. However when I try to use the programme it tells me that I have too many activations on it. I am not aware that this programme is in use on any other computer, please advise
The folks at that link will usually just tell you that PSE 8 is no longer supported. You need activation support, so go here:
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
and most times you'll see a place to start a chat session and get it taken care of right away. -
Having too many idle sessions?
Hi,
We have too many idle sessions at the database end? How can it be controlled apart from using database resource manager? Since some users execute long operations? Please clarify.
Thank you,
AdithHaving 5 of 60 sessions active is entirely reasonable. A session is ACTIVE only if, in that particular instant, the session is actively running a SQL statement. The vast majority of the time, a database connection will be idle as it waits for a user to decide what to do next, for the client application to process the data that was returned, etc.
If you're not encountering any problems, I wouldn't change anything. Setting IDLE_TIME in a profile will kill connections after a period of time, but that may cause problems for users & applications which are not designed to expect that their database connection can be terminated while they were using it.

Hey all,
I want to know how many users are on my site. So I tryed so count all activ session:
int countActiveSessions = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().
getExternalContext().getSessionMap().size();But it returns allways 0. Is the method false or how can I count all sessions?
Thanks for helpYou are OT. Your question concertn much more servlet than JavaServer Faces.
Anyway sessionMap is not the map of all sessions. It is the map of your own session. With a session map you can retrieve the session attributes.
Look there if you want count the active sessions:
