fo:inline in a cell that has a variable

Using 10.1.3.4 BI Publisher on my desktop.
I have a table in my rtf file.
In a cell I can enter a field
*<fo:inline color="red"><?EXPR11_11?></fo:inline>*
and it will show the text in red as I want.
If I change the cell to something like
*<fo:inline color="red"><?xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX, 'AVAIL')?></fo:inline>*
it fails to change the color of the resulting text to red.
I think the problem is that I am using a variable.
The variable still shows up, it is just in black text and I want it in red.
Ultimately what I am trying to accomplish is when the results in a cell are plus or minus 5% of the target I wish to change the fint color to red for + and blue for -.
In excel I use conditional formating.
In XML it will be in a choose statement.

Here is what I find . . .
It is a form field.
The code is in the form field help text.
What I did notice, thanks to your example, is that you used text for your variable.

I used numeric.
Therein lies the source of my problem.
Learned something new - if I am going to use XSL-FO to format the text, I better tell it that it is type "Regular Text" in the form field settings.
Now to use XSL-FO in the form field help text to format it as a percentage and I will be up and running.
I was using the text form field type and default text and text format to show the result as a percentage.

[SOLVED]how to use a VO that has bind variables in a Tree

Hi,
I have 3 view objects that I have linked using ViewLinks.
My last object - the details is based on a View Object that takes in a bind parameter for use in its where clause.
Originally when I used this View Object I could set this where clause by creating an ExecuteWithParams action in the page on the Iterator and set an executeable to invoke this when the page loads. This worked fine in the non-tree version.
However when you use a Tree only the master collection gets turned into an iterator in the page def. Therefore I cannot invoke an ExecuteWithParams and set my bind variable in this way.
How can I set my bind variable on the view object declaratively ? If it is not possible and I have to do it programmatically then where should I do this - I presume it would have to be in a method that the tree has ?

Hi,
My Employees equivalent table is actually a xref table.
It is like this :
Master table = Skills
This has a self join so a skill can have a master skills (I guess a bit like MGR)
So I have 2 views on the skills - one for the top level skills and one for all ones below it.
Then I have my last VO which is employees_skills_xref. This is a xref to the skills table and can hold many rows - so an employee could have many entries under the Skill names "Oracle technologies" - eg "PL/SQL, SQL, Portal etc"
the Where clause for this xref VO has to take in the employeeId so that it only returns those rows that pertain to the user.

How can I hide columns that has rows with merged cells?

I'm making a schedule on Numbers and there are couple of rows that are one cell (merged).
Because of this reason when I select a column to hide, it's not just the column that is being selected but the column and the all the merged cells that goes across the row. I would like to hide selected column to print different columns. Please help me! thank you!

I have a online form created with my paid account that has just stopped working.

I have a online form created with my paid account that has been working for months that just started displaying a message that starts "This form was easily created for FREE with FormsCentral. See how..." The inline frame that it shows up in has also changed to be very small. The form is set to open in FormsCentral and shows the message and inline frame size when I choose preview. What's up?

Newbie wants to remove first name from cell that contains "FIRST LAST"

Any help is appreciated, I'm pretty much a complete newb with a spreadsheet. I have a sheet with sales prospects. One cell has the the full name in a cell, i.e. "John H. Doe". Some of the cells have a period after the middle initial. Some cells have no middle initial. What I am wanting to do is to create a new cell that only contains the first name. If it makes it any easier, I do have another cell that contains only the last name. When explaining how to do this, I ask that you dumb it down for me! I have about 850 rows. I'll need instructions completely in steps. I don't know how to apply a function to a new column. Thanks in advance! I know I'm asking alot.

It would help you to get acquainted with Numbers if you read the User Guide PDF. It's written at a beginner level, not like a reference manual.
This solution assumes that the full name is in column A. If not, you can substitute your true column for the "A"s in the formula. Click the label on Column A to select it. In the Table Menu, select Add Column After, to make a blank column to the right of the full name column. Let's assume that your first row is a Header Row, so you won't have data or equations in the first row. In the second row of the new column, paste this expression: =IFERROR(LEFT(A, FIND (" ", A)-1), "") (Copied from here)
That cell that you pasted the expression into should now show the first name of the person in row 2. Now select that row 2 cell and Shift-Click the last cell in that column so that all the cells from row 2 down are selected. Next select Insert > Fill > Fill Down.
Now all your first names should be showing.

How do I insert a CSV file that has blank fields? (Some fields need to be blank) CS4

Hi, this is the first time I have done a data merge in InDesign. I am trying to insert an address list that often has blank fields in it. The fields are blank since some fields are not relevent to some people (i.e. some of the people don't have cell phones others don't have email addresses) Therefore these people would obviously leave those field blank. The trouble is when I go to do a data merge I am told that the CSV file won't import because some fields are blank. I don't know why InDesign is telling me this, or course some fields are blank they are not relevent to that person. Can someone please tell me how I can get around this problem?

I tried doing another data merge and I can't seem to get the "remove blank lines" feature to work anymore.

As far as I know, Sony Ericsson Z520, like a lot of the other cell phones, doesn�t support bluetooth serial communication.

If you ask me, we have done similar project.
We are working on hobby project � our robot use J2ME cell phone as on-board brain.
And there is connection between this small robot and Linux-based PC.
Communication was done via BlueTooth (in reality we use Linux implementation of BlueTooth stack and obexftp).
BUT (!) We use Siemens S75 for this communication.
I�m afraid that Siemens is the only manufacture, which implemented serial communication over bluetooth, embedded camera and non-usb socket.
Also there are some Motorola phones, which implement serial communication over bluetooth.
But � note that all Motorola phones use USB sockets and it will not be easy for you to make connection between such a phone and the robot.

Randomly generated competition draw with priority for players that has preference

(2) my original requirement was to pair the players randomly, so i used following solution.
In E1 i have RAND() for 1000 rows (E1000),D1 I have 128 teams
In A1 used this formula
=IF(ROW()-ROW(A$1)+1>$D$1/2,"",RANK(OFFSET($E$1,ROW()-ROW(A$1)+(COLUMN()-COLUMN($A1))*($D$1/2),),$E$1:INDEX($E$1:$E$1000,$D$1)))
copy across to B1 and down as far as you might need.
Assuming you have 128 in D1 then A1:B64 will now include one each of numbers 1 to 128. Subsequent cells will be blank. Change D1 to any even number to regenerate numbers. Note: recalculation of worksheet will re-generate random numbers, hide column E if you
wish
(3) So now i have a new column called PREFERENCE that has preference / interests that players have set.
I want to enhance above formula to give priority to players who have set preferences and do their pairing first with other players who have the same preferences.
If there are no players that have matching pair per perference (e.g singing in above example) then do random match.
If there are no preferences set then simply follow the logic that i have shared above for random pairing.

What a long way the cell phone has come

after reading a few of the topics and issues, and believe me i've had my issues as well. i think we should take a few minutes to realize how far the cell phone has come. i know i should be one to talk, i've put in a few comments myself. however sitting here playing with the new toy, i remember when all cell phones did was send and receive calls. now with the iphone we could do so many things that we asked. so with that being said, yes there are a few details that need to be worked on...but while we sit impatiently till then we should all remember how much the cell phone has progressed.

Can I use an 2nd (or even 3rd) Apple TV device in our entertainment room that has multiple TV's

First of all I'm wiling to buy as many apple TV's as needed, so my question is not about how to do everything with one Apple TV device...but rather how to get multiple Apple TV devices in the same general location of the house to work without interfearing with one another. We bought a new (2nd) TV for the entertainment room so that our kids could use the 2nd TV for putting stuff up (via Apple TV airplay) from their phones and ipads...and still watch TV on the other TV.
Well, it turns out they often don't want to watch TV but rather use airplay from different devices on BOTH TV'S. Currently, we have one (2nd or 3rd generation) apple TV already and one problem/issue I have noticed was that if someone (Watcher #1) was already streaming to the Apple TV via airplay...a second person (Watcher #2) using a different device (iphone, ipad, etc) could send something via airplay to the same Apple TV which would automatically "override" and cause Watcher #1''s program/video/pic to stop and thus allow Watcher #2 to start watching...much to the annoyance of Watcher #1. (With 2 kids you can just imagine the arguing and fighting that goes on)
So, besides trying to eliminate this "battle of the airplays"...I'm curious if we buy a second Apple TV for the same room...how can we hook it up so there is no conflict...and how will which apple TV know which device is trying to to send airplay to it. I get the feeling that that we will end up with 2 TV's playing the same feed from one device...unless there is a better and more proper way.
Also, I would like to add a3rd Apple TV device to the TV in our home office so that I can use as well...but because of the close proximity to the entertainment room...I fear that if I try to send a feed to the apple TV in the office it will start to play on the TV's in the entertainment room.

You can have as many ATV's as you want, but I STRONGLY STRONGLY STRONGLY encourage you to use wired connections on all of them. AirPlay is a god awful bug ridden failure prone feature under the best of circumstances.   Using it over WiFi is much worse. And the band width load of three different devices connection to your WiFi access point to three different ATV's (total of six concurrent connections) will very likely over whelm your WiFi hardware.
I actually encourage people to always use a wired connection with ATV in general. It saves a LOT of head ache and frustration. With three it is even more important.   As far as controlling which one you connect to. They are three separate devices. You select which one you want to send something too. So if you want to send something to the one in your office then just select that ATV.   It would probably be good to setup their names to be the location.   So something like "Office Apple TV".
As far as kids being brats and intentionally interrupting each others AirPlay connections...   Well there is only so much Apple can fix. If someone else on the network that has access is deturnomand to be a jerk and interrupt someone else content they would be able to.

Sort of. There is an app called art shop that gives you a place to park clip art. But I don't think you really need it.
If you have a collection of clip art you want available, move it to the camera roll on your pad/ phone, then copy paste into your document the clip you want.
You can get them into the camaera roll by putting them in a single event in your picture library and syncing them over, or e mail them to your self, and save to the camera roll, or send them to drop box, and bring them down that way.
The challenge is getting them all in one place to make it easy for you to find, which is why syncing might be the best approach in the long run.
As near as I can tell there is not a ready made clip art collection in app format laying around.

In the Mac side of things, backups usually come in two flavors: clones or incrementals.
A bootable clone is a bit-for-bit copy of all essential files in the startup volume. If using the Lions, clones can be made using CarbonCopyCloner or just plain old Disk Utility. These backups represent the safest protection of your info, but take the longest to do. Recovery is an inverse process: you copy the clone back into the internal drive.
Incremental backups start with a complete backup of the startup volume and only copy whatever changed from the previous run. OS X includes the fully integrated Time Machine backup utility to do this. It is extremely easy to do and takes the least amount of time. Recovery is another matter altogether since you have to start with a freshly installed instance of the OS and have to apply all intervening backups to bring the result to the latest saved version.
As for where the backup takes place, the recommended media is an external dedicated drive or drives connected via the fastest interface available on your Mac: Thunderbolt, USB3, Firewire, or USB2. Network-based backups, wired or wireless, are attractive but may not offer the same performance and hence take longer. Also important to note that the entire drive need not be completely dedicated to a single backup. The Mac's EFI firmware infrastructure allows for an unlimited number of partitions on a hard drive and each can be used for either type of backups.

Hold down the Option key while you boot your Mac. Then, it should show you a selection of devices. Click your flash drive and it will boot from that.

I have just dowloaded the icloud control panel on my PC and i am am able to see everything that has been pushed to icloud from my ipad. However i cannot see my email. i can send from the computer using icloud, but i do not see any mail that is being rec.

turn your ipad off by holding the sleep wake button for 5 seconds and slide to turn off then turn it back on and the apps should be finished and if the apps didnt finish just redownload them
