Focus Inconsistency

was reading a problem from another user about focus in
regards to a textfield. I started to play around with it to learn a
bit more about it. I wrote the following little program and I ran
into an interesting problem. I should also say that you have to
have a UI Button in your library to get this to work.
When you start the program the textfield says "I got the
focus"
Click on the button once
textfield = I lost the focus to my_btn
button label = I've got the focus from my_txt
Click on the textfield
textfield = I've got the focus from my_btn
button label = I've lost the focus to my_txt
Click on the button again(sometime is takes another cycle)
textfield = I've lost the focus to undefined
button label = I've got the focus from undefined
Click on the text field
textfield = I've got the focus from my_btn
button label = I've lost the focus to my_txt
Click on the button again
textfield = I've lost the focus to undefined
button label = I've got the focus from undefined

  • Focus box anomoly (continued from prior IE alpha issue)

    The "standard" PNG fix for IE doesn't work when there are
    JavaScript image
    swaps on the page.
    The "Fix" for it causes the transparent background to 'flash
    white' for a
    second as the image loads.
    Anyone know of any other fixes?
    Here's an example.
    http://www.buddhapada.com/tests/png_mouseover.htm
    Works fine in FF, but you'll see the image background of a
    second in IE.

    Wow...not REALLY not paying attention today.
    Meant to post this here:
    Let's start off with my confession that I haven't a genuine
    clue about how
    this focus stuff works.
    Focus box/lines stuff seems inconsistent all over the place.
    Some sites show
    them, some don't (even without "scrubbing" code) in both IE
    and FF. Safari
    doesn't seem to ever display them, but I have that by
    hearsay, only.
    http://www.buddhapada.com/tests/feral.htm
    The four graphic links across the top of this page will
    display focus boxes
    when clicked in FF or if you tab through them, but the "moth"
    link at the
    right doesn't show the focus box on click or during a tabbing
    cycle and
    during the tabbing cycle there is a point where the focus box
    highlights the
    entire page.
    In IE6 clicking on any of the links will NOT produce a focus
    box, but the
    focus boxes DO appear during tabbing INCLUDING the 'moth'
    link at the right.
    What are the words of wisdom regarding focus box display
    cross browser?

  • Ugh!  Please restore old Terminal.app focus-follows-mouse behavior!

    The 10.4 and prior Terminal.app's focus-follows-mouse feature allowed one to type into the terminal by mousing over it even if the Terminal wasn't the currently focussed application. It didn't focus Terminal when you did this, but did direct keyboard input to it.
    10.5's Terminal.app only allows focus follows mouse to work when it's the focussed application, which destroys about 80% of this feature's usability for me. I like to keep things like finder and browser windows overlapping most of a terminal window and then just slide the mouse over to the terminal to type there, and I can no longer do that in 10.5. Now I have to click on the Terminal window, bringing all my terminal windows forward and obscuring the windows I wanted on top. Very annoying.
    Is there any way to restore the old behaviour? If not, can we please have it back?
    Luckily, 10.4's Terminal.app still behaves properly in 10.5, so I'm using it, but I'd like to have some of the new features of 10.5's Terminal.app. Unfortunately, "broken" focus-follows-mouse is a deal-breaker for me.

    The command I know,
    defaults write com.apple.Terminal FocusFollowsMouse -string Yes
    seems to work about the same in Leopard as in Tiger for me. I don't remember ever being able to get focus-follows-mouse behaviour to work in a non-active application from an active non-focus-follows-mouse application. In other words one can focus follows mouse from one Terminal to another, but not from Finder to Terminal.
    The X11 equivalent (why the inconsistent key and value?) is
    defaults write com.apple.X11 wm_ffm -bool true
    I remember being able to focus-follows-mouse between Terminal and X11, but cannot in Leopard. However, I also cannot in Tiger 10.4.11 either, so maybe it is my memory that is faulty.
    What I don't seem to be able to do, but could do in Tiger, is
    defaults write com.apple.X11 swapaltmeta -int 1
    On Tiger, that would make the option key the meta key, so that e.g. alt-d would delete forward one word, etc. On Leopard, this seems to be a NOP which means that cmd is the only possible meta key, which I personally find rather confusing.

  • Changing Tab focus while in a User exit. Is this possible?.

    We have a user exit that kicks in when saving in a sales screen with different tabs. There seems to be inconsistancy as what tab is focused (chosen/highlighted) afte the user exit completes.
    What I wanted to know was whether it was possible to force a certain tabbed screen to be the main focus.
    Is that understandable?. I know I have not explained it that well, but hopefully I given enough to put across the problem.

    Hello Jas,
    Could you please mention the user exit name that you are using?
    Thanks,

  • Focus points issue

    hi, just wandering why I the focus points are not shown even the focus points view option is selected. Even, the focus points are not shown on the metadata screen, which just shows the camera model, WB, type of file (in this case RAW), the lens and the pattern. Any ideas?

    Tim,
    You must have a Nikon or Olympus. The behavior you describe is consistent with these to makes based on images I have in my library. If autofocus is on, then the matrix icon does not appear. If a different focus matrix is chosen, then it does appear, and a focus point is chosen as you describe.
    However, I own several Canon cameras, and the behavior is quite different. On my G-series point-and-shoot cameras, the icon is always present, and it shows one big focus spot in the center. I rarely, if ever, use manual focus, so I can't compare shots done without autofocus.
    On my DSLRs, I get two types of behavior. On my 20D, I ALWAYS get a white matrix. The entire matrix always shows as thin white, and the actual focus point shows as thick white. I can only do autofocus (closest point), or spot focus (only one point).
    On my 7D, the focusing is much more sophisticated. I can select one of several focus modes and groupings, like the Nikon cameras to which I'm comparing. Again, the entire matrix shows as thin white, but the focus points in the grouping I choose show as thin red, and the chosen focus spot(s) (by the camera) in that grouping, shows as thick red. If I have it turned on autofocus, I still see the entire matrix as thin red, but it shows me one or more of the focus spots. If I switch to Manual, I see one big thin red box in the center.
    Based on both our observations, it appears the behavior is primarily dependent on the camera, and there is a fair amount of inconsistency within Aperture.

  • "File ... already exists, but it is inconsistent with this one." error

    I've previously used ALPC to profile a Zuiko 12-60 on a E520 and I had no trouble at all. I had 33 different sets of 9 pictures each, and they all merged nicely into one consistent profile. The profile worked perfectly and corrected lens distortion better than any other software I've used. Now I'm trying to profile my Nikkor 10-24 on a Nikon D7000, but as soon as I try to append the 2nd set to the 1st one (same focal length and focus distance, different aperture), I get this message: "File <filename> already exists, but it is inconsistent with this one. Please select a different location or use a different file name.".
    My brother has been having this same issue and he's also using a Nikon D7000, but with a Sigma 17-70 2.8-4.0. Any ideas why this is happening? Some sort of D7000 raw conversion issue, maybe? I used ACR to convert NEF to DNG. The first profile is created and works well, though apparently not very accurate.
    I tested the one profile that is saved, at 10mm and f/3.5, and it's not very good. Distortion is clearly over-corrected. The one difference between the profile I did for the Olympus and this one is that I refocused after every shot for this one (since the wide angle really throws corner focus off when you reframe it). Could this be it? If not, what else?
    I'm using an A4 13x21 chart. It's enough to fill the frame with 9 shots at minimum focus distance.

    I am having the same problem with my d7000.  This happens regardless of software used to convert NEF files, so if I had to guess at why this is happening I would say that the d7000 maybe has a different format for its makernotes, which is where the lens information is stored, and the lens profile creator doesn't read it.
    Here's what happened when I tried to profile my 50mm f1.8 nikkor: I took 9 pictures at f1.8 and nine at f2.8. The profiling worked fine on both. So I ran it first on the f1.8 set, and saved it. Did the same for the f2.8 set and tried to save it, but it wouldn't allow me to append the file to the existing one, giving me the "inconsistent" error discussed here. I then save the second profile separately.
    I opened both on windows notepad, and this is the lensID inconsistency already discussed here:
    The profile I did with the f1.8 set had this line in it:
    <stCamera:LensID>76</stCamera:LensID>
    And the profile I did with the f2.8 set had this line:
    <stCamera:LensID>179</stCamera:LensID>

  • Keyboard Inconsistency

    The keyboard behavior between landscape and portrait is inconsistent. In portrait mode, when you go to the number board and hit the apostrophe it will automatically jump back to the qwerty board. Also, again in portrait mode, if you hit space while you are on the number board it will automatically switch back to the qwerty board. Neither of these situations work in landscape mode. This is on the US English keyboard, 2.0 software.
    This isn't a major bug, just poor programming, it should be consistent. Its a pain in the neck when you are used to one and then try to use the other.
    Can anybody confirm that I am not crazy (with regards to this issue, I know I am not clinically sane, thank you)? Also, I don't know if this a new 2.0 thing or not. Anyone running 1.1.4 or earlier that can look at this and see if its present?

    Yeah, I already filled out the feedback form.
    Its small things like this that make a product appear nice and polished. The more Apple focuses on all the little details (as they usually do!) the more the iPhone will stand out.

  • Pop-ups inconsistant behavior on PCs

    I recently made a website in Dreamweaver MX 2004 for an
    artist and the pop-ups that I created via the behaviors panel are
    not working properly some of the time on PC’s. All of my
    pages are XHTML and passed HTML validation at validator.w3.org.
    Please look at this page as an example:
    http://www.karenlfield.com/maui.html
    Obviously when you click on any of the six medium-sized
    images, the pop-up should open in a new browser over the upper left
    corner of the main page window, on mousedown as I specified. The
    problem is that on some of the PCs, some of the time, the pop-up
    html pages of the large images open up behind the main window and
    the viewers never see the pop-up pages and keep on clicking to no
    avail. I tested my site on many different machines at different
    locations. On one occasion, I tested on six PCs in the same office.
    The pop-ups worked perfectly on five of the machines, but the
    performance on the sixth machine was inconsistent at best. This is
    in Internet Explorer both 6 and 7. I don’t see any pattern.
    I’ve double-clicked, single-clicked, you name it. Does anyone
    have a solution to this dilemma?? Thanks, D North

    In the pop-up window if you use
    <body onLoad="self.focus();">
    that should bring the focus to the pop-up window when it
    loads and should
    keep it above the other window(s) till the user clicks on any
    other
    window.Also in your pop-up links, say for example
    <a href="javascript:;"
    onmousedown="MM_openBrWindow('NeonPalms.html','NeonPalms','width=620,height=497')"><img
    src="images/Maui_cm.jpg" alt="Neon Palms" width="218"
    height="160"
    border="0" /></a>
    right now, if I disable javascript nothing will happen when I
    click on an
    image.
    a better method maybe to use something like this
    <a href="NeonPalms.html" target="_blank"
    onClick="MM_openBrWindow('NeonPalms.html','NeonPalms','width=620,height=497');
    return false;"><img src="images/Maui_cm.jpg" alt="Neon
    Palms" width="218"
    height="160" border="0" /></a>
    This way if javascript is disabled, a new window will open.
    It won't have
    the specified size, but it'll atleast work.
    I like the website and your other work.

  • Key-changing focus in JLists

    Consider the following JList -
    String[] testData = {"one", "two", "three", "four", "five"};
    JList testList = new JList(testData);When testList has focus, pressing 't' will cause the selection to traverse between items beginning with 't'. This also happens when pressing 'f' or 'o', although the behaviour is somewhat inconsistent in all cases (e.g. it doesn't work all of the time).
    How to disable this behaviour? The API documentation makes no mention of it, so I assume that it is specific to PLAFs (I use Metal by default). The only solution I have found to work thus far is to invoke the following after JList initialisation -
    EventListener[] listeners = testList.getListeners(java.awt.event.KeyListener.class);
    for(int j=0; j<listeners.length; j++) {
      testList.removeKeyListener((java.awt.event.KeyListener) listeners[j]);
    }However, this seems like an absurdly heavy weight solution to such a silly problem. Is there a getter/setter I've not seen? I've already tried tinkering with InputMaps and ActionMaps, but they don't seem to have an effect.
    Cheers,
    Damien.

    I tried using the div tag and changing focus to an transparent screen so that it is seamless to the user.
    That does not work too. When you change focus by burring and then focus on the transparent screen the cursor acts wierd and remain in wait state all the time.
    Any idea what am I doing wrong here?

    I definitely believe this xquery is correct, I checked it out with XMLSPY which gave me correct answer.

    They behaved differently with same xquery that made me frustrated a lot.
    I changed xquery with prefix krfr-pte: and applied it to XBRLC (Clob based)
    it made a correct answer.

    How could I do with inconsistent result .
    I'm really in trouble . please get me out !!

    These look bugs to me. Please work with Oracle support to file TARs with these problems. In the meantime, does extract() with XPath meet your needs?

  • FireFox stealing app focus

    Setup: FireFox 26.0 is running on OSX and open to a web page that uses javascript. The FireFox window can either be in the background or minimized, while any other application is in the foreground.
    Problem: If the web page in FireFox inserts an HTML5 <embed> tag via javascript, FireFox mistakenly takes the application focus at that OS level.
    To be clear, this behavior is inconsistent with the other browsers. It does not happen with Chrome, Safari nor Opera on OSX, nor should it. A well-behaved should remain in the background if put there by the user.
    I suspect, given the number of support requests about this issue, that it has not been forwards to your developers.

    In FireFox visit this [http://jsfiddle.net/dgerton/2DcwT/2/ JSFiddle] I created to demonstrate this problem. Switch to another application, an email program for instance
    After 10 seconds a sound will play and FireFox will have moved on top of and taken away keyboard input from the email application.
    It occurs to me that this is also a security risk. A malicious web page could be designed to cause a DOS attack of sorts, preventing the user from switching away from FireFox.

  • Open and Close OnScreen Keyboard while focus gain on JTextField

    Hi
    I have a Jtextfield when ever I click on textfield I want to open OSK(On Screen Keyboard) of Windows 8 OS and windows 7.
    I tried in below mentioned way to open and close in focus listener focusGained() and focusLost() but it is not working. could some body do needful.
    Opening OSK:
    builder = new ProcessBuilder("cmd /c " + sysroot + " /System32/osk.exe");
    Closing Osk:
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("taskkill /f /im osk.exe");

    You need to start() the ProcessBuilder and you need to split the command like this:
    builder  = new ProcessBuilder("cmd", "/c", sysroot + " /System32/osk.exe");
    builder.start();
    And naturally you should wrap the call in a new Thread or use an ExecutorService to avoid EDT problems.

    Can any one let me know, how to resolve this issue.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    this could be due to passing values which are not correct for the vendor_site_id field ....do compare this transaction with other transactions that are imported successfully past, so that we can narrow down on the data which is different ...

  • How do I get multiple mc to come to the front on focus

    I know it has something to do with swapDepths and/or
    getNextHighestDepth. I have tried both extensively for almost 2
    weeks. No success! I know I'm doing something wrong.
    I have a base movie clip (a Yahoo map using Flash API) that
    loads 18 separate clips (customSWFMarkers).
    Each of the 18 separately loaded clips is a button which,
    onRollOver, goes to Frame 2 and attaches new movie clip. The new
    movie clip contains a dynamic text field.
    This base movie clip works fine except onRollOver some of the
    18 separate mc overlap others. I need each one to appear on the top
    layer onRollOver.
    IMHO, the problem lies with the 18 separate loaded clips.
    Here is a sample of the movie clip in action. In this
    example, I have loaded only 5 of the 18 clips; the others have been
    commented out so they don't appear. Notice that markers 1 & 2
    and markers 3 & 4 should each move to the top on focus; but,
    they do not:
    http://www.fairfieldpromoswest.net/flash/
    Code in the loaded clip:
    On Frame 1:
    marker_btn.onRollOver = function() {
    _parent.x +=2;
    _parent.marker_btn.swapDepths(_root.x);
    gotoAndStop(2);
    marker_mc.attachMovie ("details","propertyCasaSF",50)
    stop();
    n.b. the instance name "propertyCasaSF" is different in each
    loaded clip
    On Frame 2:
    marker_mc.onRollOut = function() {
    marker_mc.unloadMovie();
    gotoAndStop(1);
    marker_mc.onRelease = function() {
    getURL("
    http://www.mydomain.com",
    target="_blank");
    gotoAndStop(1);
    stop();
    On Frame 1 of attached MC (i.e. "details" linked from
    library):
    init();
    function init() {
    descrip2.htmlText = "<snipped lenghty text>";
    descrip2.backgroundColor = 0xcccc99;
    descrip2.borderColor = 0x003366;
    descrip2.embedFonts = True;
    stop();

    Originally, I had _root instead of _parent; it wasn't working
    then either. I changed it because I thought it was seeing the base
    map MC as the root and not the MC that attaches a new MC (if that
    makes any sense at all).
    My thinking is that the base map MC is the parent of all of
    the 18 MCs. So that should be okay, right?

  • Popup - how to get the focus in a specific compent

    Hi,
    I am trying to get the focus of my pop-up in the second component.
    Use case: New button in the table shows a popup to get the input from the user. There is a Undo Edit link (top-left) to discard changes, on top of the pop-up so by default the focus goes to the top left. I have input text boxes under that. And I am trying to get the focus (mouse cursor) in the first input text box rather than the undo Edit link. Any idea to implement that without using javascript ?

    <af:clientListener method="setFocus()" type="load"/>
          <af:resource type="javascript">
               function setFocus(event){
                 var input1 = document.getElementById('pt1:r1:3:pt1:it1::content'); // the complete id of the inputText - change it according to your jsff.. use firebug to get the proper id
                 if(input1!=null)
                 {input1.focus();
