Focusrite Pro 40 set up

Does anyone know how to set up a Focusrite Sapphire Pro 40 in an iMac-downloaded driver but says firewire disconnected. This is a new imac and I am using the thunderbolt to firewire adapter and an 800/400 belkin cable. thanks muche

Go into System Profiler and look in the hardware section. Might be in thunderbolt or might be firewire.
Does your device show up?
If not, there are a three items in the chain that need to be tested ...
thunderbolt to fw adapter - does it work with any other device? A hard drive perhaps?
fw 800 to 400 cable - see above.
the sapphire pro - does it work on another computer
Once you've done this testing, you should have an idea of where the problem lies.

SB Audigy 2ZS Plarinum Pro: setting source for recording

Hello!
I am having problems setting the source for recording. I want to set the recording source from 'Wave' (default) to 'Line-In /Mic'. After doing so with the mixer or the MediaSource Player it resets to 'Wave' after some time. Why? Can I force the software to make 'Line-In /Mic' the default setting? It really dri'ves me nuts to see that the source has changed without me being notified. I want to have the source changed only by myself and not by some cozmic radiation, God's will, voodoo magic and whatnot.

So can you go to control panel, and sound and there look at your recording devices and tell me what do you see? If your desired device is there, you can choose it as the default and then throughout the rest of windows, this will be THE global default recording device or the first choice, when you are in other programs to record from. Also, make sure your device is plugged in when making this change. On my system with that board, a few years ago, I could make the choice, but it would always pick something else when the source was unplugged. For example, if I were using the front bay inputs as recording, when I would unplug them and reboot, my system picked the next thing as default.
Next go into to your Creative Control panel and do the same thing there. Theoretically your choices should be linked, but this is not always the result. I can choose mine in Vista and windows 7, but lastly I always go to the Creative mixer applet and do it there and that works best. For me, my default is my front panel Mic or Microphone FP but as soon as I unplug it, it wants to make my back mic jack the default.

New poster, as generally I've never needed to post before. Having a strange issue - I've recently updated to the latest audigy pro 4 drivers (I've also tried the beta drivers they've made no difference). I'm on a Win XP 32-bit system.
If I setup my system as a 7. system (which I have a 7. creative inspire T7700), I suddenly lose access to hearing what's coming in on my Line In & 3. 2 seems to be fine. They do not appear on any of my mixers or anything when set to 7..
However if you set the system to ANYTHING else it's suddenly fine again, 6. does the trick (but you can select 2. etc and it's still fine). Shame I have a 7. system...
Should I just hunt down some old drivers as this is very annoying. It doesn't let me record on those inputs either when in 7. although they appear in the recording input selection.

works (almost) fine with the acti've X driver, apart from telling me line/mic is NOT available....spent all day (again) trying to get the 3.8 daniel K pack on there.....came back with 'somethings wrong' meessage each time.
it just baffles me that my hard dri've
cd rom AND now (maybe) the card all ferk up at exactly the same time!
i recorded afterwards and it was fine for hours.....

New Intel Wireless Pro set let bypass PEAP user authentication

I have a critical situation. We use PEAP/MSCHAPv2 for client and user authentication. Wireless users and clients will be authenticated by the ACS by asking a ADS usergroup membership. Valid users and clients have access to LAN ressources protected by the wlan controller. If the wireless client use the WZC and the logged on user is not a member of the user group he will not be authenticated and have no access through the wlan controller. But if the wireless client can use the actual "Intel Wireless Pro Set" and the user is not a member of the ADS group the ACS drop the user authentication request. But some seconds later the user will have nevertheless access to internal resources.
In this case I think the user authentication request will not right handled by the ACS so authenticated client will have access through the wlan controller and a not ACS authenticated user will have access to lan ressources by his local cached user credentials.
Is there a possible security leak or have I a configuration problem?

PEAP "Fast Reconect" is disabled on ACS side.
But in the meantime we made some tests with cisco ACS and nortel wlan controller. If the wlan client use a wireless profile, generated with the Intel Proset (!! full installation incl. andmin tools and pre-logon authentication!!) then a user who is not a member of the wlan user group have access to lan resources.

I'm trying to recover the network password for my Time Capsule so that I can connect another device (a PC) to it. I have my Macbook pro set to connect automatically and the password is hidden. How can I find out what it is.

My issue is that I'm trying to connect a PC to my wireless network run off of a Time capsule/airport router. My macbook pro connects fine but the network password is hidden and set to autoconnect. I thought I wrote the password down but when I try to connect the PC laptop and type in the timecapsule network PW is doesn't work. Trying to verify if the passwird I wrote down is correct but there doesn't seem to be a way to recover this.
Does anyone out there in the community know how to do this? (or do I just have to do a reset on the time capsule

Help for a new mac-garage band user-m audio pro setting imput

garage band help says click on preferences, but the preferences menu only will come up at start of project--then can only set audio output to m audio pro-audio imput is blank--so internal mike is usued not imput from m audio.
Somehow I managed to get it to work for one song--headphones from m audio montored tracks-guitar recorded using amp sims--been trying for hours to repeat that but only internal mike now will work.

You should be able to open garageband preferences
anytime. Are you sure your looking under Garageband >
Preferences.
And what interface are you using, is it the Fast
Tracks Pro?
Yes fast tracks pro--I finnaly was able to go to preferences when I exited garage band and openend it up again,but when I was working on the song and clicked on preferences it would not come up

New Macbook Pro set up is stuck on iCloud Drive upgrade screen

I am setting up a new macbook pro and have chosen the option to upgrade to iCloud Drive. After choosing to continue with that option, the spinning ball has been active for quite sometime. Is this normal? I am afraid to force restart as it is a brand new computer.

I had the same issue. I logged in & registered the device SN (several other devices (SN's) are already associated with the account). I don't know if this is simply coincidental or not, but as soon as I did that the new mac book pro continued into setup & eventually finished booting up & is now apparently pulling in user/account settings. I still have to confirm the iCloud Drive setup, but so far at least it moved on past the 'spinning wheel.'

MacBook pro set up has stalled

I Have just received my new MacBook pro 15" 2.8ghz and in the process of setting it up. I have not opted to transfer any data from old iMac and setting up as a fresh laptop. All is going well until I got to the FileVault Disk and encryption section. I ticked both turn on FileVault and allow iCloud to unlock my disk then hit continue.
The MacBook has it's rainbow wheel turning as if it is doing something but this has been going around for 50 minutes now, is this normal, as I don't remember my other apple devises taking this long to setup.

RH7- WebHelp Pro setting destination for RH Server 8

I'm trying to set the RH Server 8 "area" in the Destination window using RH7 and WebHelp Pro layout but there's not field available. Because of this, the default is always the "general" area, which means I cannot separate out my 4-5 projects for reporting purposes using the Access database.
FYI - The same is true for FlasHelp Pro layout using RH7 and RH8 (which I'm testing). However, in RH8, you can specify the area if you're using WebHelp Pro as primary layout.
Since I'm not allowed to switch to RH8 at this time because of internal procedures, I want to publish my projects using WebHelp Pro layout in RH7. Is there any way to plug the server area into the project without having to redo the set up every time?

My guess is that John is facilitating a class as he hasn't yet made an appearance. So maybe near lunchtime but more likely this evening unless he is traveling.
Just speculating on this but as Colum indicated, areas are new to 8 so I'd be shocked to see them being listed as an option in a patched up 7.

Mac Pro: Setting restart after each boot up

Hey everybody,
So I just got a used mac pro dual intel 3ghz tower. I transferred all my information from my old tower to the new one. With no problems at all... Until this little thing came up...
The only problem so far, is on each start up, the computer doesn't remember/recognize that I changed the sound settings to line out speakers. Making the boot up sound on the internal computer speaker.
Then once loaded it sets back to the line out speaker settings.
And same with my 2nd screen, at first doesn't recognize there is a 2nd screen till once everything is finished loading. Which makes my windows thrown on 1 screen.
Just annoying little things that I would love to fix...
Any idea how to help?

Well, it isn't "G5" so that is misleading in .sig

Never like to see someone use Migration Assistant from G5 to Mac Pro, or it can be done... carefully and no apps.
Zap PRAM and the sound will be high and need to be reset.
I assume dual/dual-core 3GHz or maybe dual quad-core 3GHz?

Need advice on optimizing the x-fi elite pro sett

I am currently using SB X-Fi elite pro and Gigaworks S750. Need to have an advice especially on the THX setting optimization (bass redirection). I need to know how does this redirection work? Is it by redirecting any freq below the specified freq to the sub and the rest keep it at the sats?
The speaker itself has a build in cross-over right? Is it possible to know what is the freq? and what is the advantage over setting the freq at THX recommendation?

The Gigaworks have their own internal bass management like 98% of all PC speakers and you don't need to enable bass redirection on the soundcard. If you needed bass management, you would know as there would be little to no bass from yer subwoofer.
The only PC speakers that I'm aware of which needed bass management on the soundcard was the VideoLogic Digi-Theatre speakers.Message Edited by nvidiot on 0-24-2006 0:09 PM

New MacBook pro set up - newbie Apple owner

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but it's all too much. After spending my hard earned cash on a MacBook pro with Lion OS I feel immediately lost. I already have a iPad1 and have bought my wife a iPhone4s so as my windows pc has died I thought it made sense to get a MacBook. The paperwork with it is minimal and appears to be based on the owner having some previous knowledge. It starts up with a set up wizard and automatically starts asking for passwords and Apple ID's. I don't have one, the iPad and phone are set up with my wife's ID. sharing iTunes across all devices is one thing. Using cloud is another. The mac is going to be shared. Do I set up separate login accounts? How does this work with cloud? iTunes etc. If I then buy a IPhone for myself will this then all sync correctly? Is there a base setup I should implement that I can build upon later?
It's asking for cloud ID and from what it says, once set it cannot be changed so I feel I need to get it right first time.
Help, I have a new mac. I was really chuffed but within minutes of getting home I'm wondering if I've done the right thing.

I'm beginning to feel this way about our Apple devices. We've just bought our son an iPad2. He has his own AppleID, but sharing content with/from other devices on Home Sharing is all linked by my AppleID. I think it'll be ok if he accesses Home Sharing but won't it mean he can't stream his stuff (different libraries)?
