Folder region edit links disappear!

All,
3.0.7.6.2 + 8.1.6.2 NT 4.0
Created a custom tabset and added it as a portlet to the content area page. then moved the nav bar and folder portlets around. Now when I go to edit the folder style (to edit the folder layout), I don't see the edit links for the folder regions.
I did this twice and get the same problem. Also, when I click on the edit defaults for the content area folder (while editing the CA page), I get a no data found error. I am able to edit defaults for the nav bar.
Any tips ?

I tried this in multiple ways and have been able to narrow it down to the following case - "It occurs only if you have more than one regions in your page that is placed in place of the Navigation bar portlet". Please try the following steps and see if you can reproduce the bug...
1. Create a page and
a) select the Display No Banner option in the Main tab.
b) add a new region to the page(Now there will be two regions). Don't place any portlet on the page.
c) select the Publish as Portlet option for the page.
d) save the page and go back to Navigator.
2. Create a new content area.
a) Edit the page of this new content area and remove the Navigation bar portlet.
b) Now add the page created in step #1 (above) to the region where the Navigation portlet was.
c) Save the content area page and go back to Navigator
3. Click on the contents for the content area created above
a) select the Styles.
b) Click on the Edit link for the style
c) select the Folder Layout tab.
.... do you see the "Edit Folder Region" icons in the folder portlet?

XML Content Editing - link disappeared

Greetings,
We have recently upgraded our portal from SP11 to SP19, and several KM functionalities changed.
Beforehand we had an "edit" link while displaying XML forms (left bottom corner), and clicking the link opened an XML editor for that specific document.
I am 99% sure that this is one of settings under /etc/xmlforms/... folders, which was overwritten during the upgrade, and that this link appeared in SP11 becuase of customization.
Did anyone ever had to implement such a functionality?

Hi Ivan,
In my opinion this upgrade should not affect on your customized xml form or KM content. But if in upgrade the template is deleted or overwritten by transporting the old data then your expected result will hamper.
As you are mentioning about "/etc/xmlforms/.." folder structure; it is a folder in which actual xml code of your xml form template is stored & we don't have to do any changes here.
If you have created edit button functionality in your code then just look it again. And if you have made provision of it in xml form only then check it the form again & add the ' edit ' functionality by opening it in xml form builder.Or transport the (backup) old xml form templates again by ice package.

Edit link in item region portlet is displayed with unwanted banner

I have several item repositories in the form of pages published as portlets. When adding these portlets I often check the option to display the edit link. When the link is displayed on the page it always shows up with a banner in a completely different color than what is set in the page style. How do I get rid of this, or where can i find the default setting for this so I can hard code it to white or something?

You cannot change the style of the edit banner in the page portlet.

Edit link option disappeared

am facing a strange issue where the “Edit Link” option under “Quick Launch” in SharePoint 2013 is not appearing for any user (including the farm and site collection administrators) in
the home page of the root site collection. If a new sub site is created under it, then it starts appearing.
may i know, anyone has faced this issue and the possible resolution.

If the Edit link is not available, the site collection has moved to read only mode. This normally happens when you take dont take proper backup of site collection or backup was cancelled while in progress

I created on Interactive report on emp table I have created edit link on empno using Icon5 image.
Report Attributes>Column Attributes>Column Link.
I can Hide the Icon5 using following script but I need to disable only. I did not get any disable() method in Jquery.

Folder of edits move from 3.6 to 4.2

I have a folder in Lightroom 3.6 that I edited after I had already moved to LR 4. All of my actual image files are on an external hard drive. The folder of edits in question is not in my LR 4 catalog. What is the best way to move that folder with all the edits and virtual copies from 3.6 to 4 and then link the edits to the images on the external drive? thanks!

Let's try this
In LR 3.6, select all the photos and virtual copies in the desired folder
File->Export as Catalog (NOT File->Export) and save to whatever location you want. Do not click "Include Negatives".
In LR 4, File->Import from Catalog, and point the dialog box to the export from the previous step.

Issue with Responsive Theme, Edit Links and IE

I've built an example of problem I have at work
Using Theme 25,
Build a simple app, 1 page - One Level Tabs, Right Sidebar
Create a default region.
In the region create a Popup LOV and, on the same row, another item- I've used a Text item
Lov will work fine.
Set the page template to allow edit links.
Now the Lov won't fire.
I think that the edit links elements have a console.log call - which IE can't handle so it does nothing.

Can some-one take a look and see if you can come up with a solution. It took a couple of days to spot where the problem seemed to be.

Before then, Edit the Java Script Debug section of the One Level Tabs - Right Sidebar template and remove the three "console.log" entries.

Edit link for Report with form

Hi, I create report on Page1 with form on Page2 using Wizard. For this reports select always returns me only one record. On my report I see edit image, it has records 'id' value and branching me to Page2.
I need edit link on another region in Page1. But I can't to assign for this link the same 'id' value for editing my record in Page2. How can I do it?

You are right, doing things this way is messy. One approach is to write APIs to support your data model. All queries/DML against tables should be done with these APIs. Having two levels of APIs has worked well for many applications: a transaction-level API (modules like fetch_empl_vacation_history, update_org_roles_master, create_incident_report) and a table-level API (modules like fetch_emp_rec, update_emp_rec, create_emp_rec). Transaction APIs call table APIs and table APIs do queries and DML against base tables. A typical page like the one you described might have one transaction-level API call to do the fetch from all the tables and populate all the page items in session state and one transaction-level API call after submit to perform the logical transaction that updates all the affected tables. APIs like these must also handle concurrency using an optimistic locking model. To repeat, the automatic row fetch and DML processing processes built into HTML DB are not intended to manage complex, multi-table transactions.
You can create table-level APIs using SQL Workshop->Tasks Menu(Create Database Object)->Package->Build a package with methods on database table(s). If you experiment with that, some of this should make more sense.

Always Get Edit Link When Item Level Permissions Set

We've enabled item-level permissions in a folder, and all users receive the "edit folder" button, regardless of whether we've given them "manage" access. Turning off item-level permissions removes the edit link.
Is this a known issue? Any workaround/solution?

That's just a "feature" of item level security, I don't think Oracle has any plans to fix it in 3.0.9X they probably have resolved the issuse in 9.0.2 ..... If you really need it gone you can click "Edit Defaults" when editing the page, right next to the portlet and uncheck the box that says show "Show Edit Link".. But then you just taken away the easy ability of editing the items through the portlet and you have to go back to the Content Area to update anything.

As you know, we can define URL in web link assignment block . So user touch the web link can direct to the URL. But now the user has a new requirement. User want to put the path of share file folder in web link, but should not work.How to map the path of share file folder into URL? or how to put the path into web link? Thanks.

Hi Ben,
Yes, there are definitely security implications. It works ok with IE and FF if you are opening local folders. It won't work if you're trying to access files/folders from remote servers - we tried to open folders from other servers on our domains and it wouldn't do it.
You can, as you say, edit settings to get around this (and, yes please, I'd like to see what settings you're changing). You can also "log in" to the remote system using login/password parameters in the url - but, as you quickly realise, this is even less secure!
In some instances, you can get around it by changing the url slightly:
file://localhost\c:/etc
This sometimes tricks the browser into thinking you're accessing files from the local machine. Another alternative, which we couldn't use, was to map a drive on your machine - again, this only worked sometimes.
I could not find a solution that worked in all situations. Fortunately, for us, we got our users to login to our networks remotely using F5 and this allowed access to files.

Edits have disappeared!

I have been working in LR 4 with a separate catalog for a particular shoot, named appropriately and such... but my edits have disappeared?? Thoughts?

Did you delete the catalog from desktop after moving to external disk drive? Is so then you really need to ask yourself the question - why did I do that before checking version on external drive was valid?

Folder region background color cannot be set

When editing the folder layout properties of a style, you can edit properties of folder regions. One of the options is the background color. When I change this using "apply", the properties window shows a small square with the new color. But when I close the window and edit the properties again, the change is lost.
I hope that changing this color will cause application components (like dynamic pages) to use this as a background color instead of white.
Is this a bug?

It works for me in 3.0.8, but the background color is not used for application components.
Also, as I've recommended in other threads on this forum, you can use URL items displayed in place to display your application components. That gives you more control over the look and feel of the component.

Enhancement request: Quick edit links for column attributes

It would be really nice if columns in report regions had that little Quick Edit icon (turned on by Show Edit Links on the developer toolbar) to go directly to the Column Attributes page.
It gets to be a real pain to click on Edit Page, click on the Region, then Report Attributes, and finally click on the Column to get to that point!

Carl: By "next version", are you referring to Version 3.0? Your response was prior to 2.0 being released but I don't see any enhancements in this area in either 2.0 or 2.2. [Well, yes, the Quick Edit link image has changed but that's about it!]

Regional Settings link not shows

We have users in the UK that were on a separate domain. Our Network team used a 3rd party product migrate their AD account to our domain. When the UK users click on their My Settings Link they do not see "my regional settings" I
checked the permissions and all authenticated users can edit their profile.
The odd thing is that if they click on My Settings in a site where their old domain account had permission The regional settings link is there.
We did not use the sp_migrate user feature because our Network people were doing a domain migration.
I cant see to find anything on this. Can some one assist

When you say All Authenticated Users can Edit their profile did you mean you have assign them permission to Edit personal user information?

Calendar Recurring meeting Meeting workspace link disappears

I established a recurring meeting, and set the parameter to establish
a meeting workspace for each meeting. Prior to editing the meeting,
the meeting workspace link appears on the meeting properties page
(linked through the calendar.) Once I edit the meeting notes, the
link disappears, however if I go into "edit" it then reappears.
I also changed the date on one of the recurring meetings to be the correct date since the
user changed the date for that meeting. An interesting thing happened. On the calendar webpart
the link is shown below.

If I clicked into the calendar and highlighted the same meeting the link is this:
dispform.aspx?id=3.1.1
I cannot figure out why it is showing on one and not the other when the fields selected in
the view are the same. The 3.1.1 link show the meeting workspace link, the link with just the 3
does not. Is this a bug? Did I do something wrong?
Sharepoint is not integrated with Outlook.
I am using WSS 3 with SP2 on a Windows 2003 server.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have the same issue with similar symptoms, and wonder if there is any update. We are using SharePoint 2010. We have a meeting recurrence set up with a meeting workspace, and the calendar is sync'ed to SharePoint. One of the meeting dates changed, so I
used Outlook to update the meeting time:
> the meeting workspace updated and shows the correct date
> the "ID" number shows "ID=10" on the calendar web part, and "ID=10.1.8" on the actual calendar view (this is the same as the original post say "3" on one view and "3.1.1" on another view.

So, this issue seems to be tied to the changing a meeting date after the recurrence and workspaces are both created. It may also be tied to permissions or browser version/settings. I agree with the "answer" in that accessing the information from
the calendar view seems to work OK for all users in all browsers. I wanted to post this to track that the issue is not happening for all users, which suggests that there are other factors involved. I looked at this using 5 different profiles, and found only
2 (one internal user and one external user) experiencing the problem. So, I question why this works OK for 60% of users, but not the other 40%. It makes me think that this could be fixed through a setting, either in the browser or the user profile. The "answer"
was also provided ~6 years ago, so I wondered if there was updated information at this time.
