Folder selection

Hi all,
I've got a script to set up a document and import a folder of files to it. I've got a couple of questions about the UI dialogs, now!
1) I'm using the Folder.selectDialog() function to choose the folder where the images are. I'd really like to be able to set a default folder for this to aim at, rather than the usual Desktop default, where you then have to click through five or six other layers to get to the correct folder.
Is there a way of doing this?
2) I'm also creating a dialog box for the user to set up the running heads for the document. That's working fine, but I'd really like to be able to integrate the "Choose folder" section into that dialog box. Is there an easy way to put that into an InDesign dialog?

If only it was that simple!
The Folder class has a 'constructor' method, and it's one of the few. Others are Array, Boolean, Date, Error, File, Function, Number, Object, RegExp, Socket, String, UIEvent, and ScriptUI Window.
If I remember correctly you need a constructor if creating a new object requires more than a simply allocation of an amount of memory.
Your line
myMasterSpread = new MasterSpread("NameOfSpread");
just gives an error "MasterSpread does not have a constructor". Even if it did work, you'd have a master spread somewhere in memory -- not linked to a document or something (its 'parent' is a Document but that's a read-only property).

When splitting a document, in output options you can select the target folder to be "the same folder selected at start", but where is that folder? I assumed it would be the original location of the source file but in my test the split files are not there just the source file.

Have you checked My Documents? You might close Acrobat and reopen, then see what folder comes up when you select File>Open.

Slow Performance During Folder Selection in Miggui

I am trying to migrate some 30,000 folders from an NSS volume on NW 6.5 SP5 server to an NSS volume on a server running OES2 SP3 on SLES 10 SP4.
Using the miggui from the OES server, I can authenticate to both servers, and select File System as the service to be migrated. Both servers show up in the list and I can expand the folders and select what I want to migrate. Now here's where I'm getting stuck: I select a subset (say 1,000 folders) and drag them to the destination. Once I let go the mouse, it sits there for hours. If I look at the target destination, a folder appears once every few minutes. What did I forget to turn on/configure in order to get this to speed up???
I saw a message that said to increase the cache values for the TSA on the source. I tried that and it didn't help. However, I'm assuming that the TSA only gets used when you actually migrate the data and not during the pre-copy checks.
Any help is appreciated!

$(UI tried with 10k folders drag-drop on the target and it took approximately 20 minutes to show it on the Target Server folder tree. I haven't tried it with 30k folders yet.
All you have to do is select the folder range on the source server and drop exactly on the target volume/folder. You can tailf /var/opt/novell/migration/<my_project>/log/debug.log and notice the messages like:
'<time_stamp> DEBUG - Path of folder selected /NSS Volumes/VOL1', running for every folder created on target.
If you see message in debug.log as 'Drag and drop in progress: java.awt.dnd.InvalidDnDOperationException: Drag and drop in progress', means either the drop on the target is not accurate or off the tree.

Bridge cs6 - different sets of keywords based on folder selected?

In Bridge CS6 I would like the selection of available keywords in the keywords panel, to change based upon the folder selected in the folders panel.
For example, in my hobby of woodworking I plan to have a multitude of keywords in a folder structure that would describe everything from the wood used to the joinery used; in the computer consulting business I will have a folder structure to describe various projects.
I realize that I can twirl folder branches open, but I would like to not have the woodworking options available for the consulting disk folders and the consulting keyword options be available within the woodworking disk folders.
Is this possible?
If not, is it possible to have which keywords twilled open based upon the folder or favorite I have selected?

Keywords ar global. Anything else would defeat the purpose of searchable catalogs. At best you could define different custom categories and data fields in your XMP settings and use that, but even then they wont contextually appear or hide.

I have an update to my issue above, with a Semi-solution found. I brought my Macbook Air back to the Genus bar today and they were able to identify (using “Activity Monitor”) that when the particular iPhoto library was being launched through iPhoto both Photostream and iPhoto's CPU% usage was excessively high (between 100% - 200% each). She discovered that if we turn off Photostream in iCloud settings iPhoto then behaved fast and snappy and CPU% came back down to a healthier level. When we turned Photostream back on the problem continued. After an hour of trying to trouble shoot why Photostream was causing the issue they recommended I keep Photostream turned off until a future software update/fix comes out. The particular Genus I worked with was not familiar with this issue. I’m very happy to at least be able to use iPhoto again, but if anyone has ideas or theories on how the Photostream conflict can be fixed please share. Thanks.

IPhone 4 only syncs last photo in every picture folder selected

My husband's IPhone 4 refuses to sync more than one photo from each folder he selects to update. It's always the last photo in the folder. He's had this problem from day one of owning the phone, and he's tried many times to fix. He's running Windows 7, 64bit on an HP computer. But, he had the same problem on his prior Sony PC running Windows XP. He has deleted ITunes, deleted the photo cache file, reloaded ITunes restored his IPhone to factory settings, all to no avail. This is ridiculous. The last straw is I loaded the newest ITunes and IPhone update this morning. The brand new one. It STILL doesn't work. Is anyone from APPLE listening???? This is clearly NOT a random event, and as owners of 4 IPods, 3 IPhones, and an IPad, we're really getting upset with Apple. My Iphones and IPad sync fine, but I'm running Windows 7 on a different computer. We're not novice Apple users and this is beyond frustrating. The bad part about all this is the apparent lack of response from APPLE on this issue is greatly influencing our thoughts on future APPLE purchases. They make great products, but the service when there is an issue is the key to retaining customers.

This is how Apple handles photos.
ALL photos synced to iphone will be in the Photo Library. Those exact same photos ( NOT duplicates ) can be accessed via the folder you synced. Just as a song is in your itunes library and you can access that exact same song from a playlist.
There is only one copy of the pic.

Batch automation - need to remove "choose" popup for folder selection in the automation

Am new to scripting, and am creating a script to batch automate CS5 .idml to CS4 .inx. I have found a few scripts out there close enough that I can modify, but they all include the same variable of selecting the folder to get the files to process. Even when I put the ("//server/directorypath/folder") in place, it still opens the popup to “choose” the folder I just told it to go to. In the end what I need is a place people can put their .idml files on the network and, through an action folder running the script from a dedicated machine with CS4, spit the .inx they need. I have figured out how to turn indd dialog/alerts on and off, but not this!
How can I make the “var myFolder =” be a fixed location?? Everything I try seems to create an exception later in the script

Thanks John, it took care of the popup, but presents alert stating “no files to open”. here is the full script I started out with. Aside from server location the only thing I changed was substituting indd with idml on line 20, and of course the file path. It also throws a “Done” alert at the end. I also moved the INTERACT_WITH_ALL (line 77) to the end, but isn't stopping the done alert.

Find "Other" search fails when "User" folder selected - bug?

I have several partitions on my disk.
On my boot partition, I have 2 .aiff files in a sub-directory of my Documents folder. Using the Finder's "Find" command (not spotlight),
select search for File Type "other" and "AIFF Audio" from dropdown
select the "Users" folder as the only folder to search - "Find" shows no files
select only "Home" to search - finds them.
select both "Home" and "Users" to search it doesn't find them.
select the partition (Called "OSX") it finds them.
select partition "OSX", folder "Users" and "Home" - it finds them
also - I can get Finder to reset with double-click:
With a search that finds them, select the file so its path appears in the panel at the bottom of the window.
Modify the Find to search only "Users". The window clears and no files show, however the path of the previously selected file remains.
Double click on the path name, the Finder resets ( - in other words, quits, closing all open FInder windows, then restarts without reopening any of those Finder windows)
Is this a bug or what?

I was having a very similar problem on my computer. I found that this discussion thread solved my problems.

In short, try re-indexing your drive or home folder. You can do his by opening Preferences->Spotlight, select the Privacy tab. Add your hard drive or your home folder to the list by drag and drop or hit the plus symbol at the bottom. Wait a second and remove the drive or folder. It will take several hours for the drive or folder to re-index but the find/search command will start working correctly right away.

WISH: Improve Photo Sharing Folder Selection Settings

We just got an AppleTV for Christmas and we love it. The only shortcoming I've found so far is the inability to select any folders from any location to add to the share list. The present settings only allows one level of folders and consolidates all sub-folders into one long photo queue.
I would love to be able to select any folder anywhere on the system running iTunes and add it to a list of folders that would be scanned for display using Home Sharing. This would provide maximum flexibility for those of us with very large libraries.
How do we get Apple to consider this feature in the next update to iTunes/AppleTV?

How to have dynamic thumb folder selection?

I am creating a HTML gallery. I want to have a specific folder structure for each album. Now strugling with setting the directory for the thumbnail and photo folder in galleryinfo.lrweb:
The user can enter the albumfoldername, which by default is set on albumName:

Manually this works:
["photoSizes.photos.directory"] = "albumName",
But how to get the foldername entered by the user assigned or even the default value above? Tried several options but without luck. Best option would be (I think):

What I want, but currently is not possible is to publish albums which are part of a photo gallery. Missing part is possibility to define layout for an index file and defining where the generated images should be stored. Index file will look like:
To have a logical structure for maintenance etc. I want to have the following folder structure:

May also be possible that first level is the year or a subject based folder. As indicated in previous messages it works to get index.html and the detail photo pages in the folder <albumFoldername>, but not for the images itself (i.e. photos and thumbnails).
The workflow would be:
1. Select photos/album to export
2. Modify the settings in the web plugin (i.e. entering the album name and albumFolderName to use
3. Generate the webpage
4. Copy the relevant files to my photo website (HTML & ASP pages on my Windows Home Server).
5. Manually adjust the index file
What I would like to have in Lightroom user interface is:
a. a tree like the keywords for defining the photo gallery including sub albums
b. select the albums to export
c. at same time generate the index file as defined in a lua HTML page
But for the time being controlling the destination for the photos would already help.

You have to remember that you are in a Web Browser and therefore are subject to the sandbox security restrictions that the web browser enforces. This means very limited access to the frontend client machine compared to SAPGUI applications.

Its not quite that easy I'm afraid. ACFExecute can't return data to the Web Dypro Application. It is desgined to trigger interactive applicactions not become a data interface between them (although you can pass startup parameters for the application). ACFUpDownload will let you silently upload multiple files (thanks to the use of a Java Applet), but doesn't have any file selection dialog. It was originally designed for KPRO - where you have file check-ins and know the file locations from the document records. A file open/save dialog for ACFUpDownload isn't added until 7.02. Even with the dialog you would still need user interaction to select the files - it can't just read all the files in a directory. Note: both ACFExecute and ACFUpDownload are new in NetWeaver 7.0 Enhancement Package 1.
You could also try a FlashIsland (also new in 7.01). I have a sample of multiple file uploads using Islands as well on SDN. However same issue here - you can't just read the file structure of a directory. Even in Flash/Flex you are somewhat sandboxed - and the user must select the files they wish to upload (although they could select all files in a directory and upload them all at once).
The other solution (which can be done on 7.0) is to have the user manually ZIP the entire directory and then upload the single ZIP file with the normal FileUpload UI element. On the ABAP side you can use CL_ABAP_ZIP to parse and process out the individual files within the ZIP content.

Chance Xfce desktop icon color and folder select background color

Hi there,
I'm using Xfce as my DE and I have installed this theme.
The problem is, because I have a black desktop background I can't see the icon's labels very well. I already tried to change the color with the file .gtkrc-2.0 in many ways, including the one in Arch Wiki, but the problem continues.
The other problem is, when I select a folder/file in Thunar the background is white, and again it's very difficult to distinguish between selected and not select folders/files. How can I change the background color? (This one I have no idea of how to make).

Two problems: folder select and start of Labview program

Hi, these are my two questions:
1) The path control allow me to select only files. If I want to keep a folder I must write it in the blank. Newer versions of Labview solve this problem? I have Labview 7.0
2) A program compiled with Labview start automatically when the exe is opened. How can I do if I want the program start only if I press the arrow button?

1). The path control with the browse button allows you to select an existing file, new file, new or existing file, existing dir, new dir, new or existing dir, etc. You just have to fight click on the control and select Browse Options.
2). In the application builder, there is a VI Settings tab. Go there, select your top level VI, and click the Edit Build Settings buttton. You can change the Run When Opened to no. This, however, is generally considered "bad style" as is having the toolbar visible. It is far better to have your program designed such that it starts doing what it is supposed to do when the user clicks a run button or selects from a pull down menu. You should also have a stop button and not depend on the Abort execution button on the toolbar.

Folder Select() Problem

Can I make my cursor stay with a newly opened folder selection?

When I open a folder in my documents, the cursor jumps to the top of the page instead of staying with that selection. I have lots of folders with lots of entries in each. I then spend a lot of time scrolling down to find where I left off. How can I make the cursor stay with newly opened folder in stead of automatically jumping back to the very top of the documents?

Hi All,
I have this script to relink images to new name and path.
When I run this script select folder dialogue display again and again (match with doc links length). I mean if document has 15 links select folder dialogue display 15 times.
Can anybody please help me to resolve it. See below my Code:
