Follow-up to archived thread "Another Error (I think) In the 12.1 New Features Guide"

I hoped to be able to add a reply to the most recent reply on March 8 in the "Another Error (I think) In the 12.1 New Features Guide" thread (https://community.oracle.com/thread/3526588), but since that thread has been archived, I am doing what was suggested elsewhere: create a new thread referencing the old one. My reply is:
Thank you for your explanation about preferring PDF over HTML. That is perfectly fine and understandable. Also, we very much appreciate your documentation feedback in this forum, and encourage you to continue to report any issues here.
I apologize for not replying much sooner. I either didn't get or overlooked an original notification about "Recent activity" after your reply; otherwise, I would have replied then.

Thanks for that comment. I have sent a pointer to it to the writer for that book. Note that with the New Features Guide, most of the content is automatically drawn from an internal system that tracks projects and features; so if a change is needed, the writer will notify the owner of that content (typically a developer or a product manager) to investigate and (if necessary) modify the underlying data, after which the changed information will be picked up for a future revision of the book.
Also, while anyone is welcome to enter documentation comments in this forum, another option that may be more convenient for comments on specific sections is the Reader Comment area at the bottom of each HTML page (such as http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16655_01/server.121/e17906/chapter1.htm#NEWFT495 for the page containing Section 1.5.9.8). Any comments entered in a Reader Comment area go to someone in our documentation production group, who forwards them to the appropriate writers.
However, if a comment involves multiple HTML pages or books, or if you want the matter to be in a public forum for visibility and searchability, posting in this forum is a good option.

  • Another Error (I think) In the 12.1 New Features Guide

    Under section 1.5.9.8 Storage Snapshot Optimization:
    The first bullet point is: "Database crash is consistent at the point of the snapshot."
    I think that is supposed to be: "Database is crash-consistent at the point of the snapshot."
    At the very least, that seems to make more sense to me.  Googling around, there was a document on these features by EMC with that wording.

  • An error occurred while building the default domain - New version of error

    I have installed JDeveloper Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.2.0. I used an temporary Admin account on the machine to install (organization security does not allow normal users to have admin accounts) and it runs perfectly well under that account.
    When I logged in under my normal account though I get an error trying to run the Debugger on the application. The server appears to be the only area of JDeveloper that has issues under this account, and below is the Log:

    Any one have any ideas??? Seems like security issue, but this account has full access to it's C:/User/Account folders.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Can you try the following steps and let us know if it works?
    1. Create a folder in your c: drive (say c:\myjdevhome)
    2. Invoke the command prompt, set JDEV_USER_HOME=c:\myjdevhome
    3. cd to JDEV_HOME\jdeveloper\jdev\bin
    4. Start the jdev (jdev.exe).
    5. Run/Debug your application.

  • Error in New Features Guide 12c Release 1 (12.1)

    Page 1-6 in the section: 1.1.2.2 Replacement of CSSCAN and CSALTER with DMU
    At the bottom of the section is a URL purportedly to the OTM DMU page... except that it isn't.  The first link is what's in the book.. and doesn't work. The second link is what I found after doing some searching on OTN.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/globalization/dmu/overview/index.html
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/database-technologies/globalization/dmu/overview/index.html

    For 11.1.1.7.1 use the syntax for jdbc_sid, i.e.
    //mypdb1.foo.com as described in the README,
    - MapViewer native (non-container) data sources can now use database service name in place of SID. To supply a db service name, you will use the same jdbc_sid attribute, but specify the service name with double slashes in front, such as follows:
      <map_data_source name="myds"
        jdbc_host="foo.com"
        jdbc_sid="//mypdb1.foo.com"
        jdbc_port="1522"
      />
    For 11.1.1.7.0 use a container_ds instead.
    i.e. instead of using
    <map_data_source name="my_12c_test"
                       jdbc_host="mydbinstance"
                       jdbc_sid="pdborcl12c"
                       jdbc_port="1522"
                       jdbc_user="mytestuser"
                       jdbc_password="m2E7T48U3LfRjKwR0YFETQcjNb4gCMLG8/X0KWjO00Q="
                       jdbc_mode="thin"
                       number_of_mappers="6"
                       allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="false"
                       editable="false"
       />
    use
      <map_data_source name="my_12c_test"
                       container_ds="jdbc/db12c"
                       number_of_mappers="6"
                       allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="false"
                       editable="false"
       />
    In my case the Glassfish 3.1.2.2 JDBC connection pool definition was
    Property
    url  jdbc:oracle:thin:@mydbinstance:1522/pdborcl12c.rest_of.service.name
    Uncheck the Wrap JDBC Objects option in Advanced panel, i.e. the Edit JDBC Connection Pool Advanced properties page.
    Add a JDBC resource for that newly created pool
    Use that in mapviewerconfig.xml as above

  • Archiving files with errors

    Hi all
    I have been working on a File(FCC) to File(FCC) Scenario. I am working on PI7.0 with SP12.  I would like to archive all the files with errors, for which the sender file adapter shows an option Archive Faulty source files.  But I am not able to archive any of the error files.  Help.sap.com mentions that this functionality works when a permanent error occurs.
    I have tried out with all possible combinations and I am still unable to archive the error file.
    Please help!!!
    Regards
    Kartik

    Hi,
    There are two conditions that you should keep in mind while using the “Archive files with errors” option
    1.       The Processing Mode has to be Archive not Delete in case you are using the Add Time Stamp  for the archived files with errors(the second check option not the first one)
    2.       In case the processing mode is Delete you can not use the second ADD Time Stamp option but this also can archive files with errors

    I have this problem on several of my labview executables.  I can open and runt eh program with no errors.  But when I close the program by any method, I get a pop up error in windows. Stating:
    "Application Name" has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.
    I get the option to send the info to Microsoft.  Another error pops up Stating the following:
    WinsockAsyncSelectWindow:  Application name.exe - application error
    The instruction at "0x7c90e470" referenced memory at "0x03182a2c". The memory could not be "read".  Click on CANCEL to debug the program.
    This is really annoying... Anyone know why this error is poping up?

    Hi Jason,
    Could you please provide us with some more information regarding your executable?
    What version of LV are you using?
    How are you stopping the executable (stop button?  abort button?)  You should always use a stop button, not the abort button (the stop sign looking glyph on the toolbar) to ensure that all of your references have been properly closed.
    Do you see this performance when running the executable on the development machine?
    Do you get the warning every time, or only some of the time?
    What all are you doing in the executable?  I'd be curious to know if it was something particular to your code or the environment.  One way to test this is to build a "dummy" executable--just one that does something as simple as count iterations, and see if you get the message or not.
    Please provide a little more information and we'll do our best to help.

    I ran into the same problem. It appears to be an "undocumented feature"; however, there is a patch that is supposed to resolve the issue. The link to the patch is here:
    https://updates.oracle.com/ARULink/PatchDetails/process_form?patch_num=9921096
    See the following for more details:

    Symptoms
    When trying to access BPMA via the Workspace, Active Directory users get the following error:An error was encountered by the CAS Security Provider: Not SpecifiedError Code: SVR_ERR_SESSION_MGR_CAS_SECURITY_ERROR.
    Cause
    This behaviour is described in unpublished bug 9921096
    When MSAD is configured as an external directory there is an option to enable or disable support for external groups. If Support Groups is disabled this triggers a code bug which leads to the observed behaviour on navigating to the Dimension Library.
    Solution
    As a workaround you can enable Support Groups.
    If you want to be able to disable Support Groups you must apply patch 9921096.

    Hi, I am having a little trouble with exporting images to another drive and Catalogue and need some help if anyone can give me some advice
    I am currently using Lightroom 5.6 and operating on a Mac with OSX Ver 10.9.5.
    I am receiving an error problem when doing the following -
    I am exporting selected photos from a particular Catalogue saved on Drive 1 to a folder created on another Drive where a Lightroom Catalogue has been created. In this Catalogue I have arranged for the images once exported to be moved to a different folder - I used the Auto Import process under the File dialogue box.
    When processing the Export I receive an error message for each of the images being exported indicating the following -
    Heading Import Results
    Some import operations were not performed
    Could not move a file to requested location. (1)
    then a description of the image with file name
    Box Save As                                  Box  OK
    If I click the OK button to each image I can then go to the other Catalogue and all images are then transferred to the file as required.
    To click the OK button each time is time consuming, possibly I have missed an action or maybe you can advise an alternative method to save the time in actioning this process.
    Thanks if you can can help out.

    Thank You, but this is a gong show. Why is something that is so important to us all so very, very difficult to do?

  • I get an error message when trying to sign into the support community with another Apple id. On the pick a username screen I get "an account utilizing this address already exists...." despite trying a few usernames. Anyone know how I can resolve this?

    I get an error message when trying to sign into the support community with another Apple id. On the <pick a username> screen I get "an account utilizing this address already exists.Only one account per email address is allowed on the Apple Support Communities" despite trying a few usernames. Anyone know how I can resolve this?

    This problem has been driving me demented. The instructions that Ivan gives have partially worked for me. By following his link
    "How to find out if you have multiple Apple IDs" I was able to identify that yes I did have two apple accounts using the same e mail address. One was very old that I used to use for the forum boards and one is my much more recent ID that I use for everything these days. So I changed the e mail address for the old account which is associated with these discussion boards and that's the account that I am now posting this from. However even though the two accounts now have different e mail addresses when I try to log onto the boards with my more recent main apple ID I still get all the same errors as described at the start of this thread by rodgers_j. And of course that's the one I want to use so that I only have one itunes account for everything.
    So if anyone has any more hints I'd be very grateful.

    Hello,
    Yes, if you choose to use the parameter fast_start_mttr_target then you must set to 0 the
    parameters log_checkpoint_timeout and log_checkpoint_interval.
    fast_start_mttr_target and archive_lag_target have different purpose.
    The fast_start_mttr_target is used to tune the checkpoint mechanism and a value of a few dozens
    of second to a few minutes is often used.
    Anyway there's an advisor on the View v$instance_recovery so as to tune this parameter. You can
    find on the link bellow some informations about it (I think that this link can answer to some of your
    questions):
    [http://www.dba-oracle.com/oracle_tips_sizing_advisor.htm]
    The parameter archive_lag_target is used to force the database to switch logfiles (and archive it)
    at regular time even when the redo logfiles is not full.
    It's not advised to switch logfiles too often. So 1800 second is a good value for this parameter.
    Hope it can help,
    Best Regards,
    Jean-Valentin

    hi,

    'too many concurrent requests,
    jcp.endpoint.main.max.threads exceeded'
    The application is running on jrun 4.0.1 server.
    i checked the log files but the load was too few on the day.
    I tried a lots of stuff on net but could not find the solution.
    pls help it out urgently

    Lisa,
    I would check the online docs and/or the following HowTos for more details. They are not specific to JRun, but will give you the general process and list or archives and other things to copy and add to the classpath:

  • Archive Utility.app "Error identifying a writable temporary folder"

    I had to restore my Mac today from a Time Machine backup. Everything went swimmingly, except for now I can't seem to unzip files using Archive Utility.app. In any folder under the root path / on Macintosh HD I get following error:
    Error identifying a writable temporary folder. Try moving the archive to another volume.
    However, if I move the archive to one of my Firewire external drives and unzip it from there, it works.
    I've tried the standard Repair Disk Permissions from Disk Utility, using the diskutil repairpermissions / command and booting into my install disk and trying both of the previous from there. Unfortunatly it didn't solved the problem.
    I noticed that when Time Machine restored my Mac the /private folder became visible, so I used Terminal and set it back to hidden. Could there be a problem with the permissions of my /private folder that Repair Disk Permissions hasn't fixed?
    Any more suggestions would be ace as I can't seem to find anybody with the same issue via Google. Thanks in advance!

    A better and safer syntax is the single command:  sudo rm -rf /var/folders/*  since if  the first line above does not succeed, or is entered in a separate terminal session, the second command will remain pointed at the top level of your home folder by default, effectively telling the computer to ERASE ALL CONTENTS of "~/"  your account's home folder.  In that event, all personal content - desktop files, downloads, documents, local email storage, music, movies, favorite bookmarks, and so on - will be immediately deleted!
    Caution is also recommended, since /var/folders  is temporary storage for a lot of applications.  At minimum quit any other open applications and be prepared to restart.
    Naturally any command involking "sudo" will only run within an administrative account.  If you don't have an admin account, if the computer is not your personal property, if the computer returns an error when invoking "sudo" or if you simply have doubts or questions about what each element of these commands does,  well that's simply nature's way of saying "call IT."

    One other thread said it was fixed by waiting till prompted by iTunes to insert the blank disk, instead of putting it in first. Does that work? Found a number of hits on this Googling.
