Fonts all screwed up in Mail because of Fontbook?

So i added a whole bunch of fonts to my Fontbook so that i could, you know, use them, but then when i opened up my Mail, the fonts were all screwed up. i changed them back in Mail preferences, which fixed most everything, but left the headers in the body of the email all in gobbledygook. anyone know what to do? thanks!

  • Nearly all fonts appear the same in Mail; otherwise they show up VERY tiny

Is there a setting in Mail that turns the font size down several levels? Because when I try a font in Word and then in Mail, it shows on my screen in Mail less than 1/2 the size it does in Word. Same font. Same point size.
Bold & italic dont seem to work either...What did I do? I reinstalled the bundled software last night - not the apps - but no effect.
This has something to do with loading to many fonts from MacFonts and getting fed up with the long load time for Office apps.
    Thanks

Are you using RTF or Plain Text for message composition?
Bold & italic will not work when using Plain Text.
If there is a font conflict between downloaded and existing fonts, this can cause problems.

  • Mail fonts are screwed up

After deactivating (what I thought were) unneeded fonts using FontExplorer, I noticed Mail was displaying garbled text where the "From, Subject, Date & To" are shown. I tried clearing my font cache, and I reinstalled Mail using Pacifist. It didn't fix the problem. I don't what font is being used for those items. Any ideas?

  • I cannoy access my Yahoo new mail because Firefox won't load the page completely

When I try to open my yahoo mail (bellsouth.net), the progress bar at the bottom of the screen only fills up about half way. At the top of the screen, the information bar, where it shows all previous page that I have visited, continuously blinks a partial login url for Yahoo mail and never completes the login. I did screw around with some permission settings and unchecked some default settings. This was a link at the top of an advertisement. I right-clicked on "add choices" and navigated to the permissions tab. When I went back to the "ad choices"again, the blocks I previously unchecked were once again checked. However I was not able to sign in to Yahoo Mail because Yahoo would not recognize my password. I can still access my email with internet explorer.

If you are using a bookmarked link then go to the main Yahoo site and navigate from there to the wanted email page.

You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears. Try again to see if the problem persists.
If yes, try deleting the mail account and adding it again.

  • Word couldn't send mail because of MAPI failure, Unspecified error.

This issue is crossposted in Microsoft Answers Word and OUTLOOK.  I am posting here in hopes that someone at Mircrosoft may have a solution or at least elevate the issue to someone who does.
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/officeversion_other-word/word-could-not-send-mail-because-of-mapi-failure/f62678fe-ef1d-42b5-8cfe-1e43d6a1d609

I dabble with VBA and write and maintain several amateur Word Add-Ins.  Accordingly, I have Word 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013 installed on my PC.  They get along fine.  However, I am unable to "Share" or "Send" an open Word
document as an E-mail attachment in any version!  In each case Word returns an error mesage "Word couldn't send mail because of a MAPI failure, Unspecified error (the same issue occurs with Excel and Powerpoint except the error dialog is a bit different.)
Using Word 2003, I (CAN) "Send to (Mail recipient for review)" in which case OUTLOOK is opened with the document as an attachment.  I can also "Send to Mail Recipient" from Windows Explorer, in which case the Word file is attached to
an OUTLOOK message, and I can create an instance of OUTLOOK and send mail from Word using VBA.
I have repaired all Office versions.  I have removed the registry keys for all office versions and repaired all versions again.  I have run "fixmapi" until I am blue in the face. I have renamed the MAPI32.DLL files and ran sfc \scannow
to ensure that the MAPI32.DLL file is not corrupt.  In view of these actions and in view of what I can do, something tells me that the MAPI files are fine.
So what is this "Unspecified error?"  This problem is rife on the internet and most of the "canned" solutions have been marked "Answered" by some MS support engineer.  These "canned" solutions might have
fixed the issue at one point, but they don't work now.  At least not for me.
    Thanks.

    Hello Greg,
I noted that there are 2 knowledge articles that describe scenarios where you may encounter this error.
KB 291152 You receive a "Word couldn't send mail because of MAPI failure" error message when you try to send a Word document as an e-mail attachment in Word 2002
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291152/EN-US
KB 929362 You cannot send a file by clicking Send in a different program when Outlook 2007 is running as administrator
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929362/EN-US
Please let me know the following:
    1. What version of Outlook are you using?
    2. Do you have Outlook open when you attempt the File > Share > Email as attachment from Word? If not, does the error occur if you open Outlook, open Word and then try to send the email?
    3. If you close/reopen Word and then try the send again, do you get the same error?
    4. Are you running either Outlook or Word in an elevated mode?
    5. What happens if you start both Outlook and Word as "Run As Administrator". You may have to right-click each applications' .exe file to be able to choose the "Run As Administrator" option.
    6. Do you get the same error when using File > Share > Email as attachment using Excel?
    7. In Internet Explorer, open the Internet Options. On the General tab within the browsing history, delete your temporary Internet files and website files
    8. Does the issue occur in selective startup mode?
Steps to setup selective startup mode:
Click on the Windows Start button, in the Search box type msconfig and then hit enter. This should open up the System Configuration Utility. Make the following adjustments within each tab.
    Services Tab:
      - Check the option 'Hide All Microsoft Services'
     - Click on button 'Disable All'
    Startup Tab:
     - Click the button 'Disable All'
     - Go back through the list and enable any Microsoft items
Click Ok. It will say “You must restart your computer for some of the changes
made by System Configuration to take effect”. Hit the ‘Restart’ button.
When the PC reboots try to run your test again.
To return back to a normal boot launch msconfig again and choose 'normal startup' on the general tab, click Ok and then reboot the PC.

    Dennis

  • Problem opening a package from FTP site -- font is screwed up.

Maybe someone could help me out. I downloaded a zip file off this guys FTP and I was to make a couple text changes on my end. I have never worked from someone else's indd file before so maybe I'm doing something wrong. I extracted the zip and there are 2 folders (links, fonts) and there is the indd file, text file for printer and some IDLK file. I open the indd and and the 1st thing that pops up is 'missimg fonts' window ( the document is mostly using Helvectica font which is not installed on my machine). I try and use the find font but all i can seem to do it replace the font which screws everything up (11 page doc). If i just click OK and let it be all the text is sort of mangled together with little to no spacing. Any idea what I should do?

You for sure CANNOT use any Macintosh format fonts AT ALL on Windows.
Before OS X on Macs and the introduction of OpenType fonts (which are 100% cross-platform compatible for both PC and Mac), both TrueType and Type 1 fonts were supplied in versions for Mac or for Windows, and neither version would work on the other platform. This was the biggest headache for sharing files across platforms.
OS X gave Macs the native ability to use Windows TrueType fonts, as well as the older Mac versions, and many font vendors have stopped supplying two versions in TrueType and provide only Windows comaptible versions now, but there are still plenty of old TrueType fonts, and some new ones, that are Mac-only. If your colleague is using one of those, it just isn't going to help you.
The best solution, as Bob mentioned previously, is to switch to an OpenType font.

  • ITunes music all screwed up

    Hello.
I like to think of myself as a very proficient Macintosh user. However, from time to time, things stump me. This is one of those things.
So, I was manually adding some folders (the way iTunes likes to organize them, by artist titled folders) in the proper directory (iTunes was open) but my songs didn't show up. So, I closed it and opened it back up again. Nope, nothing. So I moved the iTunes Database File (what is this file??? please explain what this is even for..) one directory up. Big mistake... All my stuff was gone. So I thought that at this point it wasn't too bad, because I thought I could reverse it back. I was wrong. I moved it back and it just converted the original database file to the new one (the one with no songs)! So now I have a new database file that has lost all the information that I needed. Maybe I would better understand the issue if I knew what those were really for. But aha! I didn't stop there. I impulsively trashed iTunes' .plist file. Now I was really in for it! Not only were all my songs "gone" (I know, I know, they're not gone, I have them all neatly organized in folders by artists, it's just that iTunes can't see them) but I was about to go through a set up wizard. But I didn't stop there! I completed the setup wizard, making one mistake along the way: To have iTunes search for my music for me and import it. So now I have every audio file being imported into my library, but they would go in by doubles, triples, and sometimes even quadruples! I got really scared then. iTunes gave me a warning saying that there wasn't enough room for it to copy all the music into it's library. Good! I don't want it to! (Does it mean copy, literally? Like duplicate? Would that explain the pairs that were imported?) So now I am really all screwed up. Ahh, the consequences of mucking with files you shouldn't be mucking around with. While it was determining gapless playback information, I stopped it. Somehow, the duplicates went away, I think. But there are still lots left. What should I do? Where can I startover? I don't like this! I just want the music in my iTunes music folder to be put into my library exactly how it is. Acutally, it's quite similar to the request of this http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=854588&tstart=0 user. (Sorry, I don't know how to make hyperlinks)
    Can anybody offer ANY suggestions?
    Thanks for your time,
    Sam M.
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

If I remember your problems started when you moved things from within the Finder. The plist was just fine. If you trash the plist then iTunes will generate a fresh default plist. You will need to set your prefs before continuing. The Library file is related to the data base of tunes not your prefs. The plist is related to your prefs and not your Library file.
You should be able to open iTunes - blank library in the main window then 'add' the tunes back into the library. You can use the File menu 'Add to Library' (+O) or you can navigate via the finder to the tunes and drop them into the main iTunes window. +O is the easiest for me. You will get the same result. Navigate from within iTunes - not the Finder. iTunes will ask you the path.
Now comes the potential messy part. If you grab an folder that has multiple albums in it - i.e.: Beatles White album + Sgt. Peppers - and add those to the library at the same time you will likely get the tunes out of album order- iTunes will add a couple of White Album then a couple of Sgt. Peppers then a couple of White etc. If using the 'Date Added' as the view then it looks really disorganized. So if that is a view that you normally use and order is important to you then it will take some time to add tunes back in an orderly fashion. If order is not important and using the sort by 'Album' is suitable for you then never mind. Try a couple and you will see what I mean. You can add multiple folders back at the same time if you want.

I have two personal e-mail accounts and a general account that I have synced to my Mail app, but I keep getting emails sent to the non-personal e-mail because they're on the same server. How can I change that?

The only ways I know of for email to get sent to an account are:
    1. It was addressed to that account. Someone used that email address to send you the email.
    2. It was forwarded to that account by the account to which it had been addressed. I am not aware of Mail having this feature but it is often a feature provided by your ISP that you can turn on by logging into your account via the Internet and setting it up.  I assume you have not done this, though.
With several email addresses in the same Mail client, you have to be careful which one you are sending from. If you send from the wrong address, any replies will come back to that same address. I make this mistake all too often.

Sometimes when I am not at home and I Am trying to get my email I get a pop up that says "cannot get mail because user I'd or password is incorrect". But they are entered correctly.

My Gmail account did the same to me, I had just downloaded pictures from my camera memory card and thought it had something to do with it. My son said his Gmail has done this to him off and on for three years. He said he just leaves it and comes back a hour or more later and it works fine. I tried to change my password and got my whole Gmail account snarled up in a big fur ball!! It took two weeks to get it all  straightened out. I will try leaving it alone next time or just start a new account. Good Luck
