Fonts are substituted when viewing uploaded InDesign/Illustrator documents

In my test InDesign page in the Cloud, the document fonts (Futura, Zapfino Extra) are replaced by Myriad when the page is displayed. Needless to say this negates the value of having it in the cloud in the first place: I can't share with clients or collaborators for comments and feedback, since they won't see the actual layout. I could put a PDF in the cloud, but I could more quickly, and just as easily send them a PDF via Dropbox or email.
The same problem exists with live text in an Illustrator document.
Any word on when this will be fixed/upgraded?

Thanks, David. I had a feeling that was the problem so I wanted to check. It's a pity, because it vitiates the feature a great deal. I don't recall the same problem with CS Review, but then I also didn't use it much as I had little application for it at the time. Illustrator has its embedded PDF that could be used for a web preview, but perhaps if an INDD is saved with the maximum size preview that could also be a solution. At least 1024x1024 would be a comfortable size for viewing.
I've not tested a PSD with live text, but I assume the embedded comp would be what's displayed, so that should not be an issue.
[By the way, someone should have a strong word with the marketing folks. This limitation is not hinted at anywhere in the CC promo. Quite the reverse, in fact. Like the unexpected requirement to purchase tablet apps, which the promo says are "included", marketing missteps like this can backfire badly, as anyone familiar with the field will tell you. I've already seen negative reactions in various forums to what is perceived as (and is, in fact, even if unintentional) false advertising. Just because it seems like a minor detail doesn't mean it won't upset customers who feel they've been misled.]

    Hi Graffiti,
Thanks so much for your resply.  I am happy to say that the problem has been fixed by my customer updating her version of Adobe Reader 9 to the latest version.  I had sent her a few suggestions on how to try to fix the problem including that one from info I had read on the forum etc.. and that was the solution that worked.  I am so relieved that I was able to fix the problem and to answer your question the blank pages were only graphics no text but they were the only pages that the graphics took up the whole page.  I thought that was strange and had her change a setting in preferences for printing large images a solution I read in the forum but it did not work.

Hi I've got a new MacBook Pro with retina display and I'm having issues with some older applications, such as Adobe CS5 and Microsoft office (2011) are pixelated when viewed on my new laptop. How can I fix this?

There are only a few apps that have been optimized for retina display, all other apps, including CS5 and Office are basically zoomed up to fit the 2880x1800 screen.

  • How do I change caps of an OpenType font to small caps in my InDesign cc document?

Greetings, Community. It would be great if I could discover how to change caps of an OpenType font to small caps in my InDesign cc document. That's the simple question.
To be more exact, I have an 18-page play that contains stage directions in caps in parentheses, which I would like to change to small caps. The font I'm using is an OpenType, Minion Pro, with small caps.
Another thing is, I'd ideally like to be able to do that without changing all caps in the document, and also, to not have to convert the caps to lower case in order to do it.
My source document (which I Placed in my InDesign document) is Microsoft Word 2011 for Mac.
I did go to Microsoft to find out how to do it in Word, but could only find a solution for Word for Windows.
I did try their solution anyhow (a macro) but it didn't work.
Thanks a lot. It's great being in InDesign even though I had my good years with QuarkXpress, which eventually became impossible for me.

  • Blurry/ fuzzy fonts in pdf  when export from indesign

    Hello all,
i have done alot of research/ readings via the internet (& forum) but i still can't find a solution to this:
    - I have saved my pdfs (line drawings, texts, graphics) in illustrator.
    - i 'place' them into Indesign.
    - In indesign, i click 'export', 'adobe pdf (print)', ' high quality print'.
Result: the texts on the embedded pdfs are fuzzy. I have used 2 fonts- one is fine & editable in the exported pdf (garamond);  only 'arial' seems rasterized & fuzzy.
    What have i tried:
    - i tried exporting as 'pdf X 1a 2001' settings as it is mentioned that it is good for printing.
    - i have tried  clicking 'do not downsample' in all the 'compression categories'.
    -  i have also checked 'find font', to see if the 'arial' is true font. It is.
What else can i do? kindly advise. Thank you in advance.
    *software:
    adobe cs5
    Best,
    Jessica

    Oh no...
    i see your point now.
That text is from the usual font folder.
    - i checked in illlustrator: 'type', 'find font', 'arial'; whereelse in Indesign, it is 'arial regular'.
    - In control panels, 'font' folder, i see i only have 1 arial regular file, so both illustrator & indesign should have the same 'arial regular'...
OK UPDATE: I GOT IT RIGHT NOW:
    - In illustrator file, to create pdf: 'print', 'printer: cutepdfwriter', 'output', 'printer resolution: 100lpo1200dpi' (initially it was 72lpi), and 'graphics', 'fonts: download'- 'none' (initally: subset).
I don't know which made it work: Pinrter resolution or fonts download.
But now i could edit the illustrator pdf 'arial' font; and when placed in indesign to export, it is not blurry anymore.
Never knew something like this can make such a big difference, thank you Bob!
**but can you let me know what was it i changed that made it worked as well? thanks!

  • Pictures are bright when viewed in photoshop

I have a couple of computers with calibrated monitors (Huey for both xp and vista). So if I view a photo in photoshop elements (4 and 7 and also ACR as I import DNG's) the picture is brighter than any other applications I view it in (iview, canon's digital photoshop pro, safari, ie7 etc) and the print (using canon printer, paper, ink and profile).
They are brighter even when displayed side by side with the other application running at the same time. Adobe gamma shows up in the control panel but I do not have it in the start folder. I have spent about a week searching around the web and found other people with this problem but no answer.
Currently I solve it by doing adjustments in ACR then just before bringing it in I bring the blacks lighter by 3 points. In photoshop I have a layers level at the top of the stack and have the black marker up 5 points. Just before I output to a file or print I turn that layer off. This gives me comparible results but it does not feel like the right solution.
    Any ideas?
    Tony

I have also observed the same and the reason is processing algorithm of each software is different for Camera-Raw Files.
Since Camera-Raw files are raw information which is processed by each software in different ways.
I have obsrved that results are better in ACR sometimes and in opposite way...
Its better to get JPG through the application where you are getting good view. Also you need to some experiments to conclude something. I use Nikon D200 and normally process my files in PSE-ACR. Rarely process them in Nikon-NX
When I shoot in NEF+JPG in Camera, I get different previews in PSE due to the same reason. But I find it useful...

  • IWeb and .Mac images are dark when viewed with PCs--how to fix?

I do my Photo editing in iPhoto on an iMac or an iBook, and the images look fine. Once posted to a .Mac or iWeb page, they still look fine on my Mac monitors, but when viewed on PCs and PC laptops, they are MUCH darker... The sites look terrible. The brightness on the nonMac monitors is turned up already.
Is there something special I should do to get images to appear correctly on nonMac machines?

Thanks for the responses. This has been a problem for a couple of years and this is real advice! I even had this problem with a book published through Apple. Anyway...
I didn't follow Barbara advice (OK, I'm slow, but I couldn't quite figure out where the gamma setting was), but I did use Falcon01's suggestion to use the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile.
I then reviewed and re-edited the relevant pictures. In this case, they are pictures of my girlfriend's condo she is trying to rent (mostly slightly off-white walls (aren't they all?) and dark, rich parquet flooring.) First, the pictures were darker, and I could adjust the exposure to much brighter, which helped a great deal. It did, however, introduce lots of color artifacts (pinkish blotchy walls). I drastically reduced the saturation which (good) made the walls look fairly normal, but (bad) made the rich wood flooring look drab and grayish. For this purpose, this will be satifactory--the pictures now at least are bright enough to not look dark and dank, and people can see what the rooms look like.
When I try this on important pictures of people and such, this approach makes me nervous. Most pictures will look awful if I boost expsoure and drain the color out. How do others handle this? Thanks in advance. BTW, here is the revised web site if interested.

  • Upgraded to 10.3.1 - photos appear blurry in the albumn but are fine when viewed on a computer

Hi - I upgraded to 10.3.1 on my Q5 last week.  When I take a photo it takes a while to appear and then looks blurry.  If I turn the phone off and try again it's fine for a little while then the same problem happens.  I downloaded the photos to my computer to double check them and they are clear on the computer, so it's not an issue with the camera as I first thought, but rather when viewing them.  I have no outstanding updates and I have searched all over the forums but can't see a solution.  Thanks in advance for any help.

can you please take one picture, view it when it is blurred and make a screenshot
and do the same after turning the phone off ?
then for both screenshots, you can attach them here so we can see.

  • LoadVars always undefined when viewing uploaded movie

    Hello,
I created a flash movie that has a "Contact us" form, that
sends name, email, phone number and comments to an ASP.NET web page
that acts as an email relay. If it is able to contact the ASP page,
then it displays a "success" message. If it is unable to contact
the server or if the ASP page returns an error, then it displays an
    "error" message.
When I test the movie on my computer (be it directly from
Flash or from a webpage in my hard drive) it does what it's
supposed to do: send the contact info to the webserver and then
display a "success" or "error" message, but when I upload the movie
to a server (even a local server) it always returns "undefined". I
have already tested it on 4 different servers (including the local
server) and it always behaves the same.
What am I missing that causes this behavior?
Thank you for any help that you may provide.

    1. Place last
    email.sendAndLoad('
    http://www.promocasa.com.mx/tools/formaCorreo.aspx',
    emailResponse, "GET");
You have a potential timing issue where emailResponse.onLoad
    =
function(success:Boolean) is not assigned before the response
    is registered.
something = function is a run time assignment and needs to be
    processed
before it has potential to be used.
    2. Did you try "POST" instead of "GET"?
    3. Is Flash Movie on the same domain as www.promocasa.com.mx.
    If not you
    need a crossdomain.xml file.
    4. Try a very basic Flash movie that simply sends and
    receives some static
    data from your server.
    5. Add some traces to the emailResponse.onLoad
    trace ("emailResponse.onLoad - succes:"+success);
    6. Be sure you do not have a cached old version of the Flash
    movie in your
web browser. A quick way is to rename it temporarily and
    upload.
    7. Not sure about your scoping since it works locally, but
    for a test define
    var email:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
var emailResponse:LoadVars = new LoadVars(); on the timeline
    and comment
    inside the on(click)

  • Can business area change when we post a clearing document?

    Hi all,
Is it possible to change the business area when we post a clearing document?
For example, we need to pay the line item that have business area 3000. Then we use transaction F110 to create a payment then a clearing docuement will be created with business area 3000. Can we configure it to change to Business area 1000 when we do the payment.
I tried to implement a FI substitution but Business area field cannot be changed(OSS Note 42615). we can do that by changing standard program but it is not recommended by SAP.
Any idea on how to do this? Configuration, BTE or any user exits? Point will be rewarded for any helpful answer.
    Thanks,
    Chaiphon

    hi raj,
Could you please explain more about assignment and substitution? did you implement this before?
I am in doubt because OSS Note 42615 said that GSBER (Business area) must not be substituted. Therefore, if you implement it and there is no problem, I will do the same.
    Thanks,

Word documents worked in the past as I have severel uploaded but now when I upload a short Word document, the icon shows a sheet of paper with a big W in the middle instead of a mini icon with the format of the uploaded document.
    Using Microsoft Word 2007.

You need to have Pages app on one of your iOS devices that connect to the icloud account, then you will be able to sync your word documents from your Mac to icloud.  Log into icloud.com, go to iWork page and upload your doc files to that web page.

  • Not every commen are included when the recipient prints the document i send him. Why?

When i email an pdf document, where i have added textboxes and drawings, sometimes when the documents are printed, the textboxes and drawings are not on paper pages after printing. It is proberly an problem with the printerdriver at the recipients end, but since the recipients IT skills sometimes are very poor, it is not an possibility to update the priinterdrivers. How can i solve that when i create the PDF document?

Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.
