Manually syncing does not fix your problem and is not that comfortable. If it still does not work, I would suggest to check your iCloud settings on your Mac as well, because there is no reason that it does not work if you set up your account on all your devices.

please try this (all terms are translated from my German programs to my best knowledge):
1. Did the creator of the pdf file enable the import options?
2. See import options: choose an other visibility option for your layer.
3. Let you show the import options and click into one with a black background and try these out (often a gray is selected).
4. See trimming: try the different modes there. Often works: "Media".
5. Is the pdf file (eg from Word) correctly created?
6. Is the PDF file protected? >>> no import possible.
7. If that does not help, store the pdf file in Acrobat, repair possible errors, run the PDF Optimizer before placing in InDesign.

Printing doesn't work for some inexplicable reason, completely baffled

Okay, so I have an HP Photosmart C4180 printer which I cannot for the life of me get to work on my new desktop. The exact same config works on my laptop. One of several things will invariably go wrong. It might:
1. Print only a small initial section of the page, leave the rest blank.
2. Print gibberish.
3. Give an error like "/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed" and then not recognize the printer at all.
4. Queue the print job indefinitely without any errors, never printing. When this happens it will either say it is still processing or that it is actually printing (though it is not).
The one thing it will never do is print correctly. Also, I can't get it to work in Windows either (again, same Windows setup works on my laptop, although that installation has long since been deleted). I can't figure out why the hardware in my desktop would be an issue. This is a USB printer, and all my other USB devices work perfectly.
I have no idea what to do now. I've googled to no end. I've fiddled with it, recompiled all the related packages, read documentation and deleted my config to start over. I've looked for errors but the only messages I get are no help, although I am admittedly not very good at figuring out which logs to look at or how to get the most useful debug info out of a program.
Even if you don't think you can solve the issue, I'd appreciate any points in the right direction. Please?

For some inexplicable reason Quicktime no longer plays a lot of my avi clips, this was not an issue a year and a half ago, any idea why and how to fix this? Also the clips no longer have a thumbnail, everything was fine till recently.

Recently I am unable to play AVI videos on quicktime that I have never had any problems playing before, the thumbnails of the clips also don't display. Has there been some change to Quicktime as there was never an issue since I've had my macbook pro from 2012 till present. Note some AVIs still work, the issue is more the fact the thumbnails don't display as I do have an alternative player that can play these clips. Any suggestions but mostly solutions are appreciated!

Helps if I give the correct link ! The press shift button appears to still work, but the option to start in safe mode from the programs listing of a standard install I do not think exists anymore.
Safe mode will start from a command line, (or a shortcut) and in some circumstances you may need to enter the full path name on a command or shortcut detailed instructions are at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
Remember (at least at this stage) do not make changes when you get the options list, just click on the continue button.
If you think that RealPlayer is causing the problem you could uninstall that for now.
Firefox recent versions are 3.6 4.0 (and 5.0 in beta). There is some debate as to whether creating new profiles or re-installing Firefox is the simplest method of troubleshooting and solving some of these problems, personally I use multiple profiles and multiple versions of Firefox, and tend to forget the required procedures are less than straightforward. For now at least try [[safe mode]] again.

My iPod generation 6 160gb will not sync. iTunes says corrupt, won't restore just errors out and then loops the same messages.

My iPod is corrupt according to iTunes, however it won't restore through iTunes either. I've tried to reformat the drive. Makes no difference. I've tried to reformat after choosing disk manager, and again the same result. The iPod takes forever to work through the reformatting process and I get the same message "Itunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod" and then my pc tells me to format the disk.
It's so frustrating, is there a fix to this? It seems like the iPod could still function, but I'm missing the way to get out of this loop, please help me!

3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
For Window computer
Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
In case you do not manage to do a “Format” on a window computer, try to use some 3rd party disk utility software, e.g.“HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool”.

C. Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. In many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. By the way, it works in reverse too. A. Diagnostic mode solution
If you have tried trouble shooting your iPod to no avail after all the steps above, chances are your iPod has a hardware problem. The iPod's built-in Diagnostic Mode is a quick and easy way to determine if you have a "bad" iPod.
You need to restart your iPod before putting it into Diagnostic Mode. Check that your hold switch is off by sliding the switch away from the headphone jack. Toggle it on and off to be safe.
Press and hold the following combination of buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds to reset the iPod.
iPod 1G to 3G: "Menu" and "Play/Pause"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Menu" and "Select"
The Apple logo will appear and you should feel the hard drive spinning up. Press and hold the following sequence of buttons:
iPod 1G to 3G: "REW", "FFW" and "Select"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Back" and "Select"
You will hear an audible chirp sound (3G models and higher) and the Apple logo should appear backwards. You are now in Diagnostic Mode. Navigate the list of tests using "REW" and "FFW". Try to do the 5in1, HDD R/W and HDD scan tests. Some successful cases have been reported after the running the few tests under the Diagnostic mode. In case it does not work in your case, and the scan tests reports show some errors then it proves your iPod has a hardware problem and it needs a repairing service.
B. Format your iPod with a start disk
I have not tried this solution myself, I heard that there were few successful cases that the users managed to get their iPod (you must put your iPod in disk mode before connecting with a computer) mounted by the computer, which was booted by a system startup disk. For Mac, you can use the Disk Utility (on the Tiger OS system disk), for PC user, you can use the window OS system disk. Try to find a way to reformat your iPod, again it does not matter which format (FAT32, NTFS or HFS+) you choose, the key is to erase the corrupted system files on the iPod. Then eject your iPod and do a Reset to switch out from Disk Mode. Reboot your computer at the normal way, connect your iPod back with it, open the iPod updater, and hopefully your iPod will appear there for the Restore.
If none of these steps address the issue, your iPod may need to be repaired.

Wait for 5-10 minutes and reconnecting them back. The reason behind which I can think of is to do a fully reset of a processor of the iPod. Have I tried these myself? No, I am afraid to do it myself as I am squeamish about tinkering inside electronic devices, I have few experiences that either I broke the parts (which are normally tiny or fragile) or failed to put the parts back to the main case. Firefox 26.0 on Mac will not display the website top menu bar so you make category selections. The menu appears briefly and then disappears.

After the update to version 26.0 (Mac), when visiting the Google Play website, the website menu bar which allows you to select categories disappears. When the page is loading, it will momentarily appear along with the 'gear' icon on the far right (for setting preferences). I have cleared cache, etc. and it still does not function properly.
The site functions properly with Safari and worked prior to this last update.

When you say you cleared cache, etc., did you also remove your Google cookies?
If you haven't tried that yet, and in case this is based on some kind of saved cookie-based setting, after save any pending work, while viewing a page on the site, try either:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Tools menu > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove google.com cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
On Windows 7, the page is served with that category list hidden, and then a script slides it into view. It sounds as though that part is working fine for you, but then it is losing visibility after that. You don't have any extensions which appear to hide page content, so I'm not sure what is going on there.

After installing Firefox6 many sites will not finish loading. I click on "stop loading this page" and then click on "reload this page" and the page loads. Also if I disable javascript the page will load.

After installing Firefox 6 MANY web site will not finish loading. I disabled all add-ons and still have the problem. If I disable javascript, the pages will load. When the page is trying to load, if I hit "stop loading this page" and then hit "reload this page", the page will load; but sometimes I have to do this 2-3 times for the page to finish loading. No problem with these pages using IE8.

I see that you ave changed some network.http prefs. 
Doing that can cause all kinds of problems because not all servers like such changes, so you can try to reset those prefs on the about:config page.

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/ Library/ Caches...
5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help: As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
