Force user to register when attempting to reset password

Hello,
I've searched but didn't see anything with this exact question. What I'd like to do (if possible) is create a custom error page on the password reset portal, so that if a user enters their username to reset their password and hasn't registered, they are
forwarded to the Profile Registration page. If this automation isn't doable, can the error page displayed be modified to show a registration link? EX: You are receiving this error because you haven't registered with our new password reset portal, Click Here
to complete this step.
The reason I ask: I am an employee at a helpdesk with 28,000+ users. We just switched to FIM, and we are getting hundreds of calls a day where we have to walk users through something that should be simple. If someone here could answer in the affirmative
that this can be done, with steps for this to be done, I can create a business case and put in a Change Request to have this resolved.
Thank you.

Having not done this myself, I cant tell you with certainty, but I believe it is quit possible.
There is an ASPX page that displays the error and you can manipulate that page to forward to the registration page.
You can also customize the errors in strings file.
These files are located under the SSPR Directory.

I re-set password using specific user ID but when I put new password in it does not say incorrect password  it just spins and spins never accepting it.  What is the problem?

Update on my problem connecting in Itunes with my Airport Express. Not sure if anything I tried made a difference
but I finally got the Pop up window saying this device requires a Password. I entered the password and I can once again use the Airport Express as a remote speaker.

  • When attempting to reset my password using the Install disc, I can't get into the system since I am asked for my password when I initiate the disc.  What now?

I lost my MAC password and was advised to use the "MAC" install disc.  With the "install disc" installed, I initiate the program and it asks for my "password" to continue.  What do I do now since I am unable to offer the correct password.  Sure would like to discuss this with a computer expert.  I am really frustrated since I can't update programs due to the lost password?

First, make sure caps lock is not on.
If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise, boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
    from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.

  • No mails received when trying to reset password

I don't receive emails when trying to reset my sync password.
I have gmail account and have also checked spam folder.
I have done this several times without success.
How can I regain access to my bookmarks and passwords?

There has been a problem, a bug was filed and I had hoped by now this would be resolved. I do not have a working 2nd device at the moment and so am not able to check myself whether sync is working again yet. I may have expected it to be fixed quickly, but I note a bug was filed and is still open as unresolved.

  • TS1543 my mac wont stop at single user it continues to root, how can i get to single user to enter info needed to reset password

I my mac wont recognise my password, i have tried to reset password using single user but my mac wont stop at single user it just continues to root, how do i get it to stop at single user so i can add info needed to reset password?

Are your sure that wasn't a Verbose boot (Cmd-V) you were trying? That would go on to a regular boot.
Try a PRAM Reset, then try the single user, Cmd-S, at the startup chime. For the PRAM Reset, hold down Option - Cmd - P - R all together until it chimes a total of three times, then let go to finish booting.

  • User Not Found When Attempting to Sign In To FusionHQ

    Hello Firefox Tech Support,
When I initialized Firefox in order to sign into my Fusionhq software, first, there was the Prompt from Firefox inquiring as to whether I can trust the Fusionhq site. Then, after responding Yes, I can vaguely recall some things about my signing in being an Exception in this case, and I believe that I responded Yes, when I should have responded No, wherein I was taken back to the Fusionhq Sign-In Screen. Upon attempting to sign in at the new Fusionhq Sign-In Screen, I then got the “User Not Found” message. For good measure, there might have been an additional Prompt before I got to the Exception Question.
Can you please have my original sign in reset, in order that I can go back to Firefox to sign into Fusionhq anew ? Once done, I can go back through the sign in process and then follow a different route for the Prompts.
    Thanks.
    John

    My problem is now resolved.
    Thanks.

  • Why am I prompted to login with another users Apple ID when attempting to run App Store updates?

I have just upgrade my Macbook Air to Mavericks.  I then checked for updates in the App Atore and have 2 updates available.
When I select Update All I get prompted with a dialogue "Sign in to download from the App Store." . The Apple ID is pre-filled with the Apple ID of another user on the Macbook Pro and greyed out so it can't be changed.
However when I check 'Store' from the menu bar I am signed into the App Store with my Apple ID.
    Confusing! Any ideas?

Becaus the applications you're trying to update have that Apple ID stored inside them, which is separate from the account signed into the iTunes Store. This can't be changed without deleting them.

  • CRES Maintenance...What will user's see when attempting to open an envelope?

With the CRES maintenance March 21 (https://supportforums.cisco.com/announcement/12425896/cisco-registered-envelope-service-tls-certificates-and-maintenance), if a user does try to open an encrypted message, which directs them to CRES, what will they see? Will they see a page announcing that the service is down for maintenance as well as the downtime or will the request just time out or something?

During the maintenance window it will not be possible to open PXE encrypted messages. CRES admins will not be able to log into the administration interface (https://res.cisco.com/admin) and senders of PXE encrypted messages may receive bounce messages.
All services will be restored once the upgrade is concluded. Any bounced messages can be resent at that time.
While the CRES servers are not available via HTTPS, the ESA should hold the emails in queue locally, retrying the connection periodically.  These emails will wait in this queue for the period configured in the encryption profile.  If the configured timeout period is exceeded, the email will bounce back to the user.
Please review your settings using the following steps:
    1) Go to Security Services > Cisco IronPort Email Encryption
    2) Click on the configured encryption profile(s)
    3) Expand the 'Advanced' section
    4) Review the 'Encryption Queue Timeout' setting
The default value is 14400 seconds (4 hours), so unless you may have changed this setting, a 2 hour maintenance window should not cause any emails to bounce.
And - just reminder - monthly maintenance does occur on the CRES service:
    https://res.cisco.com/websafe/termsOfService
    SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE
The Service is subject to scheduled downtime from 10 AM to 12 PM Pacific Time on the first and third Saturday of every month.

  • Attempt to reset password at login freezes

    hello;
i've now had two occasions when someone tried to login, but could not enter a correct password due to keyboard-layout issues.
the login prompt then changes to request the admin password in order to reset the user's login and filevault password.
if one enters the admin password the login process freezes. i've checked - the password is correct.
    1. is there a fix for this?
    2. how can one then kill the login process to avoid haveing to force a reboot?
    thanks.
    g5 Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Sounds like a hosed installation. Best bet is to boot with the Snow Leopard install disc and reinstall. If successful, then try the update again.

  • New users with Global Password Policy requiring password "reset on first user login" are still prompted to reset password after entering incorrect password

    The setup:
We have the option "Password must: be reset on first user login" enabled in the Global Password Policy on our 10.9 / Mavericks server. We import new user accounts into Open Directory via a delimited text file and include a default password for each user.
    What I've observed and tested:
When a user attempts to log into a computer that's bound to our Open Directory for the first time, they can enter anything in the password field and still receive the prompt to reset their password. They are never notified that they entered their default password incorrectly. The password reset will then fail (as it should), but they still aren't notified that this is the reason for the password reset failure. To put it another way: Seeing the prompt to reset your password would reasonably imply that you entered the default password correctly, but that's not the case at all.
    The question:
Is this expected behavior? If it is, it doesn't seem logical. If this was the case in OS X Server 10.3 through 10.7 I never noticed it. Can anyone corroborate this with their own setup? Thanks in advance.
    -- Steve

    Some follow up questions:
    - How did you migrate (dsmig ldif or binary import)
    - Did the accounts in .x have any custom password policies set?
For a "new" and a migrated entry, can you check if a passwordpolicysubentry is configured?
(search as directory manager and fetch the attribute)

  • Invalid email when trying to reset password

I need some help with my account logging in. i just recently bought minutes for my skype account and used it twice and now it wont let me log in. My old email was [***], but last time i was logged into skype i changed my email in my account because the old email [***] is no longer valid. My new email is [***] (#1) or [***] (#2)
When i type that in like i forgot my password it tells me email is not found in the system.
I know my skype name and password but it wont let me sign in. when it sends me the temp pass it sends it to my old email. please help. I am a paying customer but have really become frustrated.
For your safety and protection, please never, ever include any personally identifiable information such as your real name, e-mail address, or a telephone number in a post on a public Community or forum such as this. Thanks!

Apparently you didn't fully understand my problem, because the solution that you gave me is one which i have already tryed. The account that i am emailing you from is the new account that i created only to talk to you about my old account which i cannot get access too. It is telling me that my old email doesn't exist. I cannot seem to attach my old account to this new email. I also have a second email that i can use, but i cannot get any access. The link you gave me about the forgotten password is not applicable to my circumstance.
When you sent me that i did try it though and it keep trying to reset the pass for my new account. I need my old one to work or transfer. My old account email is [email protected] and the username is: rayper7
    Please help me!

  • When I am attempting to reset my password that has been forgotten through a computer restore, iTunes gives me a prompt to turn off Find my iPad in iCloud settings. This is not possible, as my iPad mini is locked and settings are unaccessible.

When attempting to reset my iPad mini password that has been forgotten, I am unable to restore my device due to an error message stating that I "Need to turn off Find My iPad in iCloud settings on my iPad mini". • Need password to reset password?

A friend of mine has a mac, and because I'm a little more computer-savvy than he is, I was trying to help him with the problem of a forgotten root password.
I followed the instructions offered by Apple to reset the password, but when I choose "reset password", it asks for the one we're trying to reset!
His version of OSX has two install cds, and that's about all I know off the top of my head. I was trying to reset from the first disk.
    Any advice?

    karmattack wrote:
I'm having this same problem. Did you ever solve it?
After I open the Mac OSX installer and choose "Reset," a dialogue bubble pops up and asks for me to enter my current password in order to proceed. I'm stuck, and this is a brand new macbook. The store I bought it from says they didn't put a password on it, and I certainly didn't... but the computer seems to believe there is one!
Put in the DVD, then reboot. When you hear the startup bong, hold down C. When it finishes booting up select Reset Password from the Utilities menu.

  • I keep getting ' user not register for online ' when trying to get track names for my CD imports for Windows 7

I keep getting ' user not register for online ' when trying to get track names for my CD imports for Windows 7 and I'm unable to find a solution.

I can't be certain exactly which steps are going to be needed in each case, but if you work through this in sequence hopefully one of the steps will prove effective.
    First try this:
    With iTunes closed.
    Press the WinLogoKey+R
Type in %appdata% and press return
    Double click on Apple Computer
    Double click on iTunes
    Delete the file CD Info.cidb
    Start iTunes and try again.
If that doesn't work close iTunes and try deleting com.apple.iTunes.Gracenote.plist in the same folder.
If that doesn't work close iTunes and try deleting iTunesPrefs.xml. This will reset your some of your preferences in iTunes so be sure to check them and reset as required.
If that still hasn't resolved things close iTunes and try deleting the entire %appdata%\Apple Computer folder or look for parallel files/folders in the C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local or C:\Users\<User>\AppData\LocalLow in case a corrupt file is persisting there.
Note that any iOS device backups are stored in the MobileSync folder within Apple Computer. Once things are working you should backup your devices again as soon as possible.
Or it might not be the preference files after all...
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Please expose the employee ID field in ADUC in this version, also add a field for data of birth, and present both on the change password form so we can validate a user's identify when they ring up for a reset.

Considering Active Directory is supposed to be all about business, corporations and enterprises, I find it staggering that in 2015 the ADUC console STILL does not expose the Employee ID field in the default UI without having to dig into the attribute editor.
And then only if you browse to the user in their OU, the Attribute Editor tab is missing when you just search for the user. This isn't really helping our organisation. I've just setup the tech preview version of the new server version, and that doesn't expose
    it either.
I'm not sure how other organisations handle this (suggestions please?), but when a user rings up the service desk for a password reset, we either have to keep them on the phone while we dig into their user account and look for the Employee ID for them to
then confirm on the phone, or just take it on blind faith that they are who they say there are.
Please for the love of all deities, can you expose the Employee ID field on the main user panel without having to dig into attribute editor. It would also be useful to show this information directly on the reset password dialog box so there's no looking
up required. While you're at it, please can you add a date of birth field (if it isn't already there, I never seen one), and expose this on the main screen for the user, as well as the reset password box. This would give us two pieces of information to verify
the identity of the user on the phone.
All that being said, if anybody has a better way of identifying users on the other end of the phone, I'm all ears.
    Thanks in anticipation.

Personally we use the AD selfservice plugin for manageengines service desk plus.
