FORM based login form-error-page

Hi,
I have activated FORM based login for EM (oracle 9iAS on Solaris). So, in web.xml for EMD, I have

When I login as ias_admin, everything seems fine. However, when I login as any other user (not in ias_admin role), the browser redirects to /emd/console/ias/applicationServer...
Why is the container not redirecting to /emd/error/oc4j_error.html ?
Any input will be truly appreciated. Hopefully I am doing something wrong.

Thanks for your reply. If I have a error page in the FORM login, then the container (according to j2ee specs) should redirect to /emd/oc4j_error.html if I authenticate as a user without administrator privileges.

Earlier I just filtered out the login page and images based on the extension, but now I am trying the second approach i.e. making a protected directory, but my application does not start. When i start it from the tomcat manager, it gives me this error,

How to display exception on error page raised from custom login module?

I've created my own login module and I am using form authentication mechanism.
Here is how my login and error pages defined in web.xml:

        <form-login-page>/logon.jsp</form-login-page>
        <form-error-page>/error.jsp</form-error-page>
      </form-login-config>
    </login-config>
But when my login module throws an exception (LoginException) the following code in <i>error.jsp</i> returns null:

though this code works good on Weblogic.
Declaring the <i>error.jsp</i> also in the <error-page> tag didn't help.
So what did I miss to configure?
Or maybe NetWeaver doesn't allow to get the exception from the <form-error-page> at all?

J_security_check - custom error page

Hi all,
I've successfully run jazndemo - callerInfo sample from
Oracle 9iAS and OC4J - version 9.0.3
I then modified web.xml to use FORM-based auth,
instead of BASIC auth.
I utilize j_security_check for this purpose.
FYI:
- I use JAZNUserManager with XML (jazn-data.xml)
- My browser is IE ver 5.0
- I use OC4J 9.0.3.0.0
This is the excerpt of my web.xml:

It does run properly when I supplied correct userId and
correct password, BUT if I supplied wrong UserId and/or

Is it a bug?? It should display error.html instead.
Please give me a hand on this, this thing really
frustrate me..

J_security_check & error pages

I've inherited an app that utilizes j_security_check and everything works fine. I am trying to find a way to have multiple error pages (or allow the current error page to be customized), depending on the reason for the login failure. It seems you can only specify one error page in web.xml (is this correct?). Can you extract any information from the server (we're using Jboss2.2.1-Tomcat3.2.1) about why the login failed?

Assuming you are talking about the form-error-page tag,...
Even though you can specify one resource here, in the code that sits behind that resource, you could do many different things. Right ? For example, if that resource is set to map to a JSP, in that JSP, you could forward to one of different JSPs in turn. Is that in line with what you were/are trying to do ?

Form based login, iframes and session time out

Hi all,
I'm trying to create a site using form based login.
The site contains a page protected page, default.jsp that have a logout button/link (clicking it invalidates the session), and a navigation bar with links linking opening them in iframes inside the default.jsp page:
I have also a login.jsp page and and a error.jsp page
Everything works fine I can login, I can logout. My problem occurs when the session times out and the user tries to access protected contents in the internal frames. He then is promted for a new login. The problem is that the login,jsp page now turns up inside the jframe designatet for my contents.
I woud have liked the login page to turn up at the top level i.e. filling the entire browser window (i.e on the same level as the default.jsp page). Is this somehow possible?

Easy answer: use JS to jump out iframe.
Best answer: don't use iframes, but use server side includes like jsp:include. Iframes have too much disadvangages, topping the extremely bad SEO and UX.

How to get username from Form-based login

I am using form-based login in my web.xml file.
When I attempt to access a protected .jsp page, I get sent to my login page as expected.
When I enter my username/password successfully it forwards me to the .jsp page I was trying to go to, as expected.
From that .jsp page, how do I get the username/password info from the login form? I looked at the session attributes, request attributes, and request parameters, but I don't see anything. Does the form-based authentication remove these variables?
I need the username that is filled out in the login form, so that I can do custom work with it. I cannot ask the user for it again after they login, as that is inefficient and sloppy.

Redirect to a custom error page when Forms Server shuts down

Hi,
I want the forms application to redirect to a custom error page whenever Forms Server goes down. (like network issues, unscheduled shutdown...) Whenever this happens, the user gets a pop up with FRM messages and user has to acknowledge the pop up. Since the application is used in the shop floor, there will not be any user always in front of the screen and will be a very big issue as there are at least 70-80 PC's on the floor which will be attended fewer times(only when there is issue with the machine) other wise the application displays important events of the machine,etc.,
I am trying to develop a simple HTML error page(may be with applet) which will keep querying the forms server and once the forms server is up and running, the error page will revert back to the application which the user was working earlier to shutdown. Other option is the redirect to main menu of the application (this may be a PSP or a JSP or a Oracle Forms Menu ).
Is there any event in forms to capture the loss of connection to forms server ??
BTW, I am using Oracle Application Server 10g Forms and Reports on Windows 2000 Server...

I don't think it will be easily possible in Forms for a couple of reasons.
1. In Forms you do not have query rights, and as soon as you want to edit data, you have to log in. In Forms you log in once, and this sets your rights for the whole session. You will have to do some programming in Forms to achieve what you want. E.g. as soon as you hit the Save button you are asked for a username and password.
2. A refresh cannot be done in Forms. Remember that Forms is a Java applet. The URL in the browser is just pointing to the startup page only. If you refresh your screen, you are taken back to the login screen of Forms again.
Well, there will probably be ways around these problems. I'm thinking in the line of calling every form in a separate URL instead of starting a Forms application where one form is called from another form. The default 'query only' form can be called from a startup html page. This page can be refreshed. As soon as the user wants to update data, he clicks on a link or button and is taken to a login form.
If the refresh is unsuccessful you are taken to a custom error page, like in your ASP application.
A problem with an automatich refresh may be hanging sessions. Forms server does not always kill sessions.
And also, how would you avoid a refresh if a user is currently using the form?

Report, Form, and Data Component portlets go to error page

I am able to add Report Form and Data Component portlets to my page, but when I click on the define button it takes me to my error page.

Dreamweaver Form Won't Submit- Says Error page cannot be displayed

I believe my it guys have php on their server. When I look on the internet
to try and use the form to test it, I get the error:
The website cannot display the page
HTTP 500
Most likely causes:
The website is under maintenance.
The website has a programming error.
What you can try:
Refresh the page.
Go back to the previous page.

Can I style Web Forms Confirmation Page Results - Specifically the "ERROR" message in the results?

Hi,
Can I style Web Forms Confirmation Page Results - Specifically the "ERROR" message in the results?
{module_webformresults} is auto rendedered as a table with CSS IDs attached but nothing specific for the ERROR message - resulting in the error not being seen.
The ERROR is triggered by a dulplicate User Name or Password.
I tried using a JQuery text selector, but it does not work with the results for some reason.
Any ideas?

It should work. You know the id of the specific area, you know what string to search for in order to condition the appearance of the new message.

The Layout and fuctionality of the Oracle Forms Forum has changed - very nice !
But it's not possible to call the Oracle Forms Forum
from the Oracle Forms Main Page !
Error-message :
404 Not Found
