Form Menu fields in FIrefox browsers vs IE
I have a membership registration form with a number of
drop-down Menus. No problem with IE, but with Firefox, on some of
the menus, the menu items do not stay visable after you hit the
down arrow UNLESS you click on the down arrrow and hold the mouse
button down and move the cursor to the scroll bar. On other menu
drop-downs, they do stay open when you click on the down arrow. But
I see no difference in the code.
THe form is at:
http://www.columbiaclub.org/On-Line_Membership_Application_form.htm.
The day and year pull-down menus in the A section does not
stay open, but the year pull-down menu in the B Section does. Same
for the other sections. In section C, the state menu does not stay
open but the Country menu does.
In section D, it's just the reverse: the state menu stays
open but the country menu doe not stay open.
Does anyone know how to fix it on Firefox so that all the
menu drop-down fields stay open?
Thanks and regards,
Bill Schaepe
Does any text or selection appear if you use Ctrl+A to select all after pasting or typing text?
Such text areas may be using a monospace font, so you can check the font settings and possibly select another monospace font.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced<br />[ ] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
You can do a font test to see if you can identify corrupted font(s).

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Issue with length of form text fields in Firefox in OSX
I've just spotted an issue with this in a page on a site, with two forms next to each other. (the limited space has highlighted it.)
Basically FF on the Mac is making the text fields longer than any other browser :
http://www.goodsafariguide.com/trade/loginfail2.php
If anyone knows a fix for this, that would be great.
If not, I'll just reduce their length so that at least they're not squashed in any browser (even though they'll be a bit short in every browser other than FF Mac).
http://www.goodsafariguide.com/trade/loginfail2.php
Thanks. Thanks guys - its just not something I've really noticed before, as most forms I do have enough width compared to this page where I have two side by side.
Will pop that bit of CSS in. -
Spry menu bar in firefox not telescoping main li horizontally
I am having trouble with my spry menu bar in firefox and chrome not telescoping horizontally. In IE8 they tile horizontally but in firefox(3.6.10) and chrome(6.0.472.63) they stay tiled vertically.
Example:
IE8
[menu1][menu2][menu3][menu4][menu5]
FF and Chrome
[menu1]
[menu2]
[menu3]
[menu4]
[menu5]
I do not think that it is the css due to it not telescoping when I view it in live view in dreamweaver cs4. SO I am thinking it is someting in the javascript that is just for IE.
ANy help or a push in the right direction would be great.

Copy text fields and drop down menu fields
Hi,
Using LiveCycle Designer ES, I am making a simple form with some text fields and along with some drop-down menu fields. With the resulting pdf, I need for one to be able to select the appropriate selection in the drop-down menus. Then using cntl-a to select everything and then cntl-v to copy it into a text document. This approach will only copy the text fields and not what is showing in the drop-down menu field. Is there any way to solve this problem? The end users computer has limited tools and software cannot be installed on it.
Thank you for considering this issue and any help you may provide,
jaHi,
I don't really know if the text field can be selected using Ctl+a, but if that is possible how about adding extra text field that is linked to pulldown menu?
If the usage of the PDF is only for copying, then I would make a formcalc or javascript to combine all the text into one text field so that user only need to copy paste one field. -
I have created a PDF form with field but for some reason I cant type in them
I have created a PDF form with field but for some reason I cant type in them
May be that the text fields are read-only.

As of 2 months ago, I cannot fully access Facebook using either Safari or Firefox browsers. I have a Mac G5 running OSX 10.5.8, Safari 5.0.6 and Firefox 3.6.28. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can resolve this?
Aha, a PPC Mac!
The last really supported Flash for PPC was 10.1.102.64, but if it's for like Facebook or such, people have been fooling FB to think they have a later version installed.

Is it possible to have two Firefox browsers (3&20) on the same OS?
I have been using my 3.6.28 Firefox for more than 3 years and still want to use it in the future. Some functions are not working when I visit websites so I need to install the newest as to see them. I have Google Chrome as my second browser but would like to swap it for the latest Firefox. Read on some forum that its not possible to have two Firefox browsers on the same Win OS. Is it possible to have both my old Firefox 3 and Firefox 20 installed on the same Win XP OS as teo different programs?
Yes it is possible, but you need to create a new profile for the 2nd version.

Run a Report from a Forms Menu
I have a brain teaser,
I am trying to run a report from a forms menu item. Here
is my menu item code:
RUN_PRODUCT(REPORTS,
'C:\Documents and Settings\Bradley\My Documents\A_THESIS\Reports\AUCTION_EVENT_REPORT',SYNCHRONOUS,RUNTIME,FILESYSTEM,'',NULL);
When I call on the menu item it works for a while and then a Reports Background Engine error message says:
REP-0110: Unable to open file 'C:\Documents and Settings\Bradley\My Documents\A_THESIS\Reports\AUCTION_EVENT_REPORT'.
REP-1070: Error while opening or saving a document.
REP-0110: Unable to open file
Any ideas?
Any help appreciated,
BradleyFrank,
I tried it at C:\AUCTION_EVENT_RPT with the same result.
Do you ever run Reports from a form? If so how do you do it?

Report not running through Forms menu
Hi Gurus,
In our reports we have used Query PL/SQL to reference cursor. When it is compiled and an executable 'rep' file is created, which when
called through froms menu generates following error and aborts the report.
REP-1401:'qr_1refcurds': Fatal PL/SQL error occured.
ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called
The same report when called through forms menu, without the compiled version, executes smoothly. Also it runs through report builder perfectly after compilation and generation of rep file.
Would appreciate if anyone can provide suitable guidelines to solve this issue.
nullhello,
is the program-unit you are trying to call, in an external plsql-library ? if so, you have to provide the PLX version of this library in order to use it from a REP file.
however, why are you using the compiled REP version at all ? i would suggest to use the RDF file.

2. I need this use of Firefox to be very limited and restricted, consistent with handling personal investments, banking, financial transactions. There will be very few websites, but with extremely secure, private, connections. You can do that with multiple Firefox user Profiles.

When filling out a form, some fields copy to others when I tab to the next. How can I make this stop?
You can't using Adobe Reader. It looks like whomever created the form used the same identifiers (names) for various fields. Each field with the same name will populate with the information used in another field of the same name. This is intentional.
Normally when I see this, it tells me that someone created an initial field then copy/pasted it to make additional fields but forgot to change the names. -
Forms/Reports with Jinitiator - Firefox - on Vista works.
it works with Firefox. Tested today.
Forms Services - iAS 10.1.2.0.2 - running on 32bit Linux
Jinitiator 1.3.1.22 (default one that comes with iAS 10.1.2.0.2) - installed on Vista - no problem
Firefox (vista certified latest version) -- install Firefox first then JInitiator then check "about:plugins" in Firefox to verify that Jinitiator plugin is recognized,
Then access your Form url from within Firefox on Vista
(tested the forms, reports, formsgraph modules in sorms application, sso, forms/reports integratio n, using tabs, master detail forms, etc - all works).
This is to inform other users - so I hope it proves useful.Did you try I.E browser7.0 with forms/reports on Vista?
In my case, our application is not going well with I.E 7.0.
would you try several times in your application and let us know.
thank you so much for your information -
How to create-Form text field to simultaneously preview the text over an image
I am trying to make a web page similar to the link below…where when a customer types in the form text field, and simultaneously, the text will preview in another area of the webpage over and image. See example when you create a label @ www.customwinesource.com custom labels…http://www.customwinesource.com/index.cfm?method=storepairing.listPairing&wineryid=auto
Any help would be much appreciatedI wasn't able to (easily) find anything in the way of a textfield to type something into that you describe, but you can assign code for input textfields to detect when something changes in them and take action from that event. How you do it depends on which version of actionscript you are using.

Thanks & Regards,
SatheshKumar RYou can save the form with name generated from a field's value, but therefore you will have to install a folder level script first and design a custom save button in your form.
You cannot do this with the applications save or save as... buttons, and you also cannot rename a file on submit.
Here's an example form and a folder level script. (Maybe to complicated fdr newbies)
