Format date to 12-01-2009 instead of 01-DEC-09

We need to format date to France Standards. The XML data is coming thur as dd-mm-yyyy, I have tried to use format-date with no success. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated

Issue with format: date dd-MMM-yyyy - First letter lower instead of capital

Hi colleagues,
I am facing a problem using: <?format-date:FIELD_NAME;’dd-MMM-yyyy’;'UTC'?> on my RTF template.
When the report run on English it retrieves: Apr, Jun, ...
but in French it retrieves: apr, jun.
The client wants the first letter of the month in capital letter I thought that MMM is the format to manage it...
I am using XML Publisher with PeopleSoft.
The template is in French and using bursting I create the report in different language depending on some parameters.
When I preview the template everything is ok.
Does anyone knows where is the Abbreviate Name of the Month comes from?

It ought to be returning 'Arv' not 'apr' in French right?
It might be an issue with the i18n library that is being shipped. I would suggest logging a service request with support for some help.

Convert XML string into an abap format date and time

Hi,
Does anyone know of a method or a function module in ABAP which converts XML string into an abap format date and time.
Here is a part of the xml that I want to convert.
<ns2:EventDateTime>2009-07-02T10:13:45+10:00</ns2:EventDateTime>
<ns2:EventMessageTransmissionDateTime>2009-07-02T10:13:45.987+10:00</ns2:EventMessageTransmissionDateTime>
Currently EventDateTime and EventMessageTransmissionDateTime are type XSDDATETIME_Z and these are converted to proper dates and times. We will be changing these fields to a STRING instead of XSDDATETIME_Z. The reason for this is to make the field more versatile. The customer would be receiving dates with Zulu (2009-09-23T12:00:00Z), with offsets (2009-09-23T12:00:00+10:00/-10:00) and just local timestamp (2009-09-23T12:00:00). With this, we need to make the date fields as string
to be able to accept the various date formats (esp. the local timestamp).
I am looking for a standard function module or method that will convert the xml string to a proper date and time abap format.
Would appreciate anyone's help!

How to format Data in subject line of an Email

I have an email submit button on my LiveCycle form and the client wants data from the form in the subject line of the email. I have the button set up and the patterns set up on the fields but the data in the subject line doesn't display the way it does in the fields. this is what I have.

The Employee ID is 7 digits including leading zeros (0123456) and the date is formatted MM-DD-YYYY. When it goes to the subject line it doesn't show the leading zeros (123456) and the date is formatted YYYY-MM-DD.

To get the formatted date striong use formattedValue instead of the rawValue in your scriptings.

Convert milliseconds to formatted data in JAVA

i want to convert my time in milliseconds to HH:MM:SS:sss format ,
i use ;
Date date = new Date(timeInMills);
SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("HH:mm:ss:SSS");
String s = sdf.format(date.getTime());
but it gives me: 02:00:00:150 instead of 00:00:00:150
i think it is about the TimeZone. What can i do to prevent this.?

If you insist on doing it this way, then read the API docs for SimpleDateFormat, and the class(es) from which it inherits closely, as one of them contains a method for setting the timezone, which don't you think it would be a good idea to set the timezone to GMT/UTC rather than worrying about any local timezone effects?

Form Letter Report - How To Format Date and Number Hidden Fields

Hi
Is it possible to format date and number fields in a form letter report. This case were Paper Design shows fields as $<hire_date>. The examples in reference book only print character values which do not require formatting. I cannot determine how to achieve this. Cannot select fields from Paper Design view as per other report styles where can apply formatting. Do I have to perform formatting in the query to return date as string in format I wish for? This is not case for other report styles.

you could add a field, set the source of the field to hire_date (assuming hire_date is a column in the data model), and put a format mask of whatever format you want. then set visible to No.
then instead of &<hire_date> you can instead type &<name of your new field>.

Format Dates in Chart to List Months not Days?

I have a CF Report that I has a Subform Chart with the
following SQL:
SELECT ticketDate, Count(tickets.ticketDate) as CountTickets
FROM tickets
WHERE (ticketType LIKE 'TS%')
GROUP BY ticketDate;
On my Line Chart, I have the Dates going across the bottom
from L to R.
How do adjust my SQL above so it combines the Dates to list
in months instead of each day?
And format them to Jan-07, Feb-07, Mar-07, etc..?

In case anyone else comes across this problem:
1) After making the changes right-click the chart in Analyzer and select "Apply changes to all charts"
2) Right-click the chart again and select "Save as template"

Week returned by Format Date/time String

Has anyone tested the Format Date/Time String function with the week formating codes?
I want to create a subfolder for each week and name the folder accordingly. For 17 December 2003 the week is 51 in the year 03 but I get week 50. For 29 December 2003 the week is 01 in the year 04 but I get week 52. For 01 January 2004 the week is 01 in the year 04 but I get week 00. For 29 December 2004 the week is 53 in the year 04 but I get week 52. For 01 January 2005 the week is 53 in the year 04 but I get week 00. There is no difference using %U or %W as code (this will be if 1 January will fall on Sunday or Monday which it does not in my examples).
I know normally a year has weeks 1 to 52 but in some years the last week may have week
53 as in 2004. Adding 1 to the week does not solve the problem. For 29 December 2003 it would give 53. And 53 maybe a correct week as in 2004. For 1 January 2005 it would give 1 but the week is the week in the year before.
All the week numbering I expect is correct for Germany but the function is not. Is the numbering from the function correct for your country?
Please reply where you are located and if the function will work right for you.

I have found two resources about date and time and their formats.
One is the ISO Standard 8601, the second is a german page. On this page along with other information all definitions used by Windows is listed.
According to this page the ISO Standard has been established in Europe and most industrial countries. In USA it is ANSI X3.30-1985(R1991) and NIST FIPS 4-1.
Since the ANSI definition you mentioned allows only Sunday (Jewish) or Monday (Christian) as first day of the week it ignores the Islamic world. For them the first day is Saturday. I could not gather information about Buddhistic or Hinduism
based countries.
For my application and the market aimed the ISO format is the one which will be choosen. Using %W and handling of week 0 should do it.

The default format can be set by changing the NLS_DATE_FORMAT initialization parameter and restarting the database, alter system set nls_date_format = "YYYYMMDD" scope=spfile; and the database has to be shutdown and restarted to enforce the change. It might be alter database instead of alter system, I usually try the wrong one first.
But the setting can be overridden in the client setup or changed in a user session, there's no way to enforce a particular format on the client environment.

Need help for FM that converts RAW format data to xls format

I am able to get the data from the given spool number to be converted into 'RAW' format. I need to convert this data into Excel format nad want to send the mail as attachment.
I want to know is there a Function Module that converts this RAW format data into the Excel format?

instead of that you can do this....
once spool is generated you have spool number , using the spool number you can generate the excel file using the FM <b>RSPO_DOWNLOAD_SPOOLJOB</b>, pass the spool number, and filename as some.xls and then it will download it to xls file,

Extract the table formated data using itextsharp in c#

I have one pdf file in which i need to extract table formated data in a specific format by each filed.I tried by using itextsharp but data comes in unspecified format. Can any one help me on this.This is very useful for me.

Help! using FM for formating date with to_char()

Hi,
Basically my requirement is to format the date in specific format (i.e. DD MM YYYY HH24:MM) and it should avoid the padding zeros.
Ex: 03-Jun-2009 10:01 should be displayed as 3 Jun 2009 10:01.
I was using the below query
to_char(sr.recievedat, 'FMDD Mon yyyy HH24:MI')...
But the thing is it removing the padding zeros from minuites aswell, which i dont require.
For example,
Ex1: 03-Dec-2009 18:10 3 Dec 2009 18:10
*04-Dec-2009 19:01 4 Dec 2009 19:1.. It should be 4 Dec 2009 19:01*
Can some body help me how to control the FM to restrict the padding to some places

Struts - Formatting date in display:column tag

I am using the following code to format the date in my display tag

I don't need this format . Instead ,I want to extend the decorator and create my own . For that , I'm using

Decorator class that you wrote is "DateDecorator" and the decorator class that you used in the tag is "LongDateWrapper".

How to print formated data/report on client's printer (Web Application)

Hi All
I want to print some formatted data/report ( it might be 1000 pages) on user's printer.
Application is web based
Technology used are Java - jsp - servlets
i want functionality like...
when user click on print button/link, data is fetched from server and all pages (it is formated data so i want alignment on page while printing) should be printed one after another.
Also printer selection dialog should displayed one time when user click on print button/link.
Questions:
1. How i will transfer all data to client (web browser) from the server ??
2. And how i can print that data on user's printer ??
There is requirement (or limitation) that I can not use applet for this purpose.
And also it is not fix that we must use java tech., we can use any othere tech. but condition is that it must support multiple platform (in short platform indipendant)
There is solution like ...
I can use window.print() function of DOM/JavaScript,
but it prints only one page which is displayed on browser.
I don't want to display any page. and want to print all pages.
if any one done or have idea then let me know.

Its simple, first of all break ur data in terms of pages. Write the logic in one JSP.
suppose i have jsp PrintReport.jsp , for page 1 url will PrintReport.jsp?page=0 ... so on
get the page parameter in JSP
String page="";
if(request.getParameter("page")!=null)
page=request.getParameter("page");
get the rowcount from the Result and assume records per page is 100
if u have 1000 rows then 10 pages u have to serve
StartRowNumber=page*recordsPerPage
EndRowNumber=StartRowNumber+recordsPerPage
Execute a SQL query , select * from table where rownum between
StartRowNumber and EndRowNumber
Provide google like pageNumbers in ur HTML page
ie 1 2 3 4 5 6 ..10
Regarding printing , Create HTML button called 'print' and add Javascript ' window.print()' on clicking it.
