FORMAT MASK JSP WITH BC4J

I am developing a jsp application with
bc4j. I want to give a format to date fields.
I have got it when I display records but when I edit or insert records it breaks. I override methods setXXX, getXXX in the MyEntityImpl.java file. Has anyone got it?
Could you help me?

You nned to become familiar with the DataWebBeanImpl.java file in jbohtmlsrc.zip. It has methods to retrive the edit and display renderers for view object attributes. When a date attribute is found , the DataField renderer is selected. You can provide your own formatting date field renderer whenever a date field needs to be presented. We are working on formatting support for the next version of JDeveloper.

i have 40 project (jsp with bc4j) with jdev 9.03.
can i deploy all in 1 step ?
    thank's

If you have 40 projects, this is not good. You can always have them output to the same classes directory. You can then create a deployment profile that packages all of the classes from this directory. It is easier to have two separate projects, one for your middle tier and the other for your web project. You can then setup a dependency from your web tier project to your bc4j project. Once this depndency is setup, you can create a WAR deployment profile for your web project that will deploy all the required classes and web resources.

  • BC4J Format Masks

Does anyone have a simple example of setting up a Format Mask for a String attribute in the control hints?
The online help is a little fuzzy on the subject.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Adrian,
can you (or someone else who uses this) give me a piece of code to see who it works with the BC4J layer. I get different errors and I am not sure if these errors appear because I use the stuff in the wrong way. Maybe you can zip a project and send it to [email protected]
    Thank you very much.

  • Problem with date format mask 'D'

I am experiencing an extremely thorny problem with the date format mask ‘D’. I am trying to use it to check whether today is a Monday. The variable v_temp_day is set to sysdate. For the last 4 weeks the code has behaved erratically – giving a different result at 02:00 than at 10:30 even though it is only taking account of the date. In desperation I inserted a debug statement formatting the date in a variety of ways – with interesting results. Oracle is somehow managing to tell us that today is simultaneously Monday and Tuesday depending on which format mask you choose. Anyone got any thoughts or suggestions?

  • Using a datepicker with format mask MM/YYYY gives error on submit

I'm trying to use a datepicker with the format MM/YYYY.
The item is linked to a database column of type DATE.
The items displays correctly (month and year), but when submitting the page, I get an "ORA-01843: not a valid month" error from the built-in DML process.
Shouldn't Apex apply the same date format mask to the item value when trying to save it to the database?

    Hi Mike,
I can/need to do that for my own PL/SQL processes, but the problem is with the Built-In DML Process....

  • Problem with format mask and currency

    Hi,
I am trying to apply a format mask to a report column.
    I want my format to be: 4500 ==> $4,500.00
I have tried to apply: FML999G999G999G999G990D00, and i get #4,500.00
Do i have to set a currency parameter somewhere for this format mask to work?
    I have done a select * from nls_database_parameters:
    NLS_LANGUAGE AMERICAN
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET AL16UTF16
    NLS_TERRITORY AMERICA
    NLS_CURRENCY $
    NLS_ISO_CURRENCY AMERICA
    NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS .,
    NLS_CHARACTERSET US7ASCII
    NLS_CALENDAR GREGORIAN
    NLS_DATE_FORMAT DD-MON-RR
    NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE AMERICAN
    Thanks in advance,
    Immanuel

    Immanuel,
Here's what I believe is going on:
    1) Your database character set is US7ASCII. US7ASCII cannot store a '£' character.
    2) Although the real NLS_CURRENCY symbol for NLS_TERRITORY UNITED KINGDOM is '£', it's displaying a converted character of '#', due to the above reason.
    3) The currency symbol from the format mask is determined by your NLS_TERRITORY (and hence, your NLS_CURRENCY) settings for the session.
    4) Your application is most likely setup to run with an application primary language of English United Kingdom. Thus, your application will always set NLS_TERRITORY to UNITED KINGDOM.
To get your desired result, either:
    1) Change your application primary language to en-us
    or simpler yet
    2) Hard-code the $ sign in your format mask.

  • Problem With Date Format Mask

    Hi everyone,
when i set the date format mask in any field..
if i enter any wrong date format messages are coming in to loop
is this is bug of format mask?
    how can i avoid this..
    thanks in advance
    anand mohan

It should not take you into a loop. If the "validation" against the format mask fails, a message is displayed, and the focus is returned to the field which caused the problem. Do you maybe have some method or event associated with the field which could be causing the circular behavior?

  • Column's Right Alignment goes out with CR in format Mask like NNN,NN0.00CR

I am working in Reports 6i. For a numeric calculated column, I give format mask NNNN,NNN,NNN,NN0.00CR. Due to CR, right alignment of the column goes out. That is rows for which CR is NOT printer are also aligned at right. A blank space should be left at the end of every row when no CR is printer. In this way numeric data is right aligned and readability is not disturbed.

    Muhammad,
I tried this on 6.0.8.14.2 version of Reports 6i and it aligned properly (i.e., spaces where present for those values without CR). I originally had the Arial font which as you know is not a fixed font and in this case, the spacing was not exact. I switched to Courier and the output was much more readable for the numeric values, especially with the spacing.
    Regards,
    Jim Safcik
Thanks Jim Safcik. I changed the font of that column to Courier and it resolved the problem. But I am using Times New Roman font which creates above alignment problem.
It would be nice if we have an other solution which is NOT font dependent.
However I appreciate your guidance and knowledge.
    Pl. guide.
    Thanks.

  • JSP using BC4J with MS SQL Server

I use JDevelop to develop my JSP apps with BC4J. When I Run a JSP app, the error happened.
The error message is [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC]Can't start a cloned connection while in manual transaction mode.
Who can tell me what the error message means? Or What error might happened to my code?
What parameter I should setup? Or What code I should change?

There is a "how to" that addresses this issue
    with SQL*Server:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/howtos/bc4j/bc_psqlserverwalkthrough.html
You need to qualify your jdbc URL: (this is from the howto)
On the Connection page, enter the Java class name and the URL.
    Java class name: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    URL: jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://<db-host>:1433;SelectMethod=cursor
    Note: There's a semicolon before SelectMethod=cursor.
Note on Select Method: From the MS SQL Server documentation: SelectMethod={cursor | direct} determines whether or not Microsoft SQL Server "server cursors" are used for SQL queries. Setting SelectMethod to direct allows SQL statements to be executed without incurring server-side overhead for managing a database cursor over the SQL statement. Direct mode is the most efficient for executing Select statements; however, applications are limited to a single active statement while executing inside a transaction. If multiple result sets are required from a single query execution, then the application must set SelectMethod to direct.

  • Need help with date format mask

Hi there, right now I'm trying to set a default date format mask constraint for one of the attributes for my table. I want to set the default mask constraint as MM/DD/YY but I don't know how to. it should be something like:
CREATE TABLE work (WorkDate DATE CHECK (WorkDate = 'MM/DD/YY'))
or something like that, but I don't think that's correct. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

What you want (and should have done) is to read the documentation, starting with the concepts:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14220/datatype.htm#CNCPT413
    http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/search?remark=quick_search&word=date&tab_id=&format=ranked
A date is stored as, well, a date, format masks only come into play when you're selecting/retrieving a date or when you want to store a string as a date. Default date formats can be set through NLS_DATE_FORMAT at session and database level.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/initparams122.htm#REFRN10119
Documentation homes (from which you can do a simple quick search):
    http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/homepage
    http://www.oracle.com/pls/db112/homepage
    Bottom line:
Trying to set a default date format mask on a date datatype column makes no sense...

  • Date Format Mask with text only...

    Hi!
I have a problem with my date text item: the format mask is set to YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS and it work perfectly if the user enter only numeric character, it will validate the date correctly. But if the user enter a value only alpha (something like 'uuuuyyyy') instead of validate with the mask format it will fire an error trigger ORA-06502.
I want to know if it's possible to check if the user has enter only alpha to bypass this problem.
Also, how can a check that a date field is null. I Try with : IF :BLOCK_NAME.DATE_ITEM IS NULL THEN ...
AND ALSO with IF TO_CHAR(:BLOCK_NAME.DATE_ITEM) IS NULL THEN... and nothings seems to work.
    Thanx in advance.

AFAIK, the only way to do this is to have two items. One is a hidden database item, type DATETIME, to hold the date value.
The other is a non-database character item, visible to the user. You populate it at POST-QUERY from the database field, and use an ON-VALIDATE-ITEM to copy any value entered/changed by the user over to the hidden field. If you're smart, you'll write a library procedure to do the on-validate stuff, passing it the names of the two items.
In that procedure, you can attempt to convert the entered text into a valid date using whatever date format(s) you like, only raising an error if you can't do it at all.

  • Apex mobile Date-Picker (date with time) format mask error

    Hi together.
I'm playing  a little bit with Apex mobile.
I want to save a date with hours and minutes in the database. So i have an date field (type: date with time).
On my phone i can select an date value with time, but when i want to save the value, i get an format error, that the format 'YYYY-MM-DD"T"HH24:MI:SS' is wrong.
I can't change the format mask in the element properties, because it is everytime going back to the old value "YYYY-MM-DD"T"HH24:MI:SS", when i save it.

Not a 100% related, but personally and from a usability point-of-view I really dislike the built-in datetimepicker and so far every client who has seen it has agreed with it. It pops the date and time down to the bottom, it only selects when you hit close, it just doesn't look appealing as the normal datepicker does and you expect more. Personally I've also gone the route Jari described several times, and it's probably still the cleanest and least error-prone option. Validating dates can be quite a pain, but the datepicker built-in validation does that fine, so if you can circumvent validating a free-text time field that helps). I've used some jQuery timepicker plugins aswell, and they're ok, but still don't solve the validation (even though there is some javascript validation you still need serverside validation). All I'm trying to say is that using select lists for hour-minutes is not such a bad idea in my opinion.

  • Date column with format mask 'hh12:mi pm'

let's say the user input record as shown below :
    trip At01 At02
    1 9:30 AM 12:30 PM
At02 & At02 are date column with format mask 'hh12:mi pm'. When the user input 9:30 and tab to next item, the column will display as 09:30 AM. Then when user input 12:30 at AT02, it will display as 12:30 PM.
Anyway, if I enter 1:00 at AT02, it will display as 01:00 AM. Actually I want to display as 01:00 PM. I still can go back to the field to edit it manually but is there a way that I can do as mentioned ?
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Shu Wen

You are going to have to write your own validation logic to do this - You'll have to decide what point AM shoudl be defaulted and what point PM should be used. I don't think that there is a format mask that provides this functionality.

  • Problem with Format Masks and Computations

(I did a quick search on this, but didn't notice another thread on the topic. If there is already one I apologize.)
We are using APEX version 2.2.1.00.04.
I had an editable item that had the 999G990D00 format mask. In a computation I used that item and another item (that didn't have a format mask) to calculate a third item. The item I was trying to compute would not populate. It really had me stumped, so I went so far as to completely delete the fields and re-construct everything. When I did so the computation worked. That is until I put the format mask on the item again. I removed the format mask and the computation now works.
Is this a known issue? Is it a bug? Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks, Tony

    Tony,
As Patrick mentioned, all variables in Apex are strings. Whenever you do something with them that effectively requires something other than a string value the database does an implicit type conversion. This often works, but not in cases where the db doesn't know how to do the conversion. For example, if your default database date format is dd-mon-yyyy and you have a string 10/09/2007 the database won't have any idea how to convert it to a date. That same is true for number formats.
In your case, you used the number format mask in apex to convert a number to a string witht the given format. Apex does not do anything to convert it back to a number when you submit the page (unless you use the built in row processing). If you want to do anything with it as a number, you need to change it back with the to_number function. The second parameter is the format mask of the string you are passing in.
    Hope this helps,
    Anton

  • BC4J Date format mask

After specifying a date format for an attribute of an entity object using Entity Object Editor - Control hints on the attributes.
    Format type: Simple Date
    Format: dd/MM/yyyy
When inputting the date manually rather than using the date picker, if only 2 digits are supplied for the year i.e 01/01/02 the resulting date is 01/01/0002, is there any way to force this so the user has to input 4 digits for the year?
    Thanks

In a form you can set the format mask item property
    whatever you want.
Usually we try to use DD-MON-YYYY without enclosing it single quotes. but you can try
    ' . . ' or simplly . .
    and see what happens.
