Formating MSA Excel Reports created in MSY

Hello All,
we want to format a excel report, that was created in MSY.
for example we use the Business Query BSACTIVITY with 'from' and 'to' date parameters.
The result is then in the Excle sheet BSACTIVITY.
We have created some programming in the sub "Workbook_BeforeSave"
to copy the data from BSACTIVITY to a new sheet called Calender.
When we run the report creation a second time, the data is written to the same file again, but is not creating a new workbook.
Has anyone experience with the formating of those excelreport ?
We run CRM 40 SP 09.
Thank you for your help.
Best reagards
Frank

Hi,
I just want to push this topic.
For me it's the same problem. I want to format a Excel report which was created in MSY.
How can it be done to save the customized design of the excel sheet? Is it possible to save the design in MSY or is it necessary to create an excel makro?
Thanks in advance!

Christian

  • Date Format in Excel reports

    Hi Experts,
    Is there anyway I could print the current date in the YYYY/MM/DD format in the excel report. The format works in a pdf format but in excel the date gets auto converted into MM/DD/YY format. The format-date doesnt work. Please help.
    Thanks,
    Swarna

    Hi Gordon,
    It took some time for me to verify in the client machine.
    I have changed the date format in both Business One and in the regional settings to DD/MM/YY. It seems to be ok however the appearances of date column in excel seems to be uneven.
    04/10/09
    04/11/09
           13/04/09
           14/04/09
           19/04/09

    I think, the problematic dates seem to be exported to excel in the paste special text format.
    Any Idea why this is happening?

  • Issues with format of Excel file created from an Oracle Report

    I'm running Oracle Reports 6i.  My reports run fine but when I covert them to Excel files I lose my column headings (they end of being repeated for each row in their own columns) and the ordering of my other columns. I can't figure out what is determining the column order as it is not the order of the items in Report Builder or in the query. Could someone tell me why this might be happening and how to fix the issue?  Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm a very new user. Thanks!

    Hi,
    First of all let me clear out generating a report pdf is different from excel.
    The Repeating Frame and boxes,lines etc., used in your reports plays a vital role in excel.
    Because, the fields in the reports are segmented into XL cells and displayed as the output.
    For Better results in excel...Follow the below instructions,
    --Remove Boxes,lines,etc.,
    --Make your repeating frame and main frame visible (don't put 'NO_LINE') for any frames,
    --Don't leave any unnecessary spaces in reports between fields,frames etc.,
    --Then run your report.
    It will work fine,

  • Date format in Excel report output

    Goodmorning All.
    Am using XML publisher for some reports. The current report is in Excel. Everything is fine on this. I want to print the date parameter in 'MON-YY' format.
    In the 'Text Form Field' option, I have used the type as 'Regular Text'. In the 'Add Help Text' using the formatting as follows: <?format-Date:P_TO_DATE1;MM/YYYY?>. This seems to send the date parameter '1-Jun-12' as 'Jun-12'. But when it opens in excel, Excel assigns the cell 'Custom' format and type as 'd-mmm-yy' instead of 'mmm-yy'. So the final output still comes in DD-MON-YY format.
    I have tried changing the type to 'DATE' and date format to 'MMM-yy' in the 'Text Form Field' option. But still the excel custom format is overriding the final output.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Z

    Hi Alex,
    I used the following code in the 'Form field help Text': <?xdoxslt:format_date(P_FROM_DATE1,'MMM-yy','yyyy-MM-dd', 'en-us', $_XDOTIMEZONE)?>
    Then I wrote some letters immediately after that and ran the report. When I opened it in excel, Excel assigned format category as 'General' to the output cell. So the output now comes as desired format as 'Jan-12XYZ'.
    So it seems, if there will be some additional characters after the dates, then excel does not auto reformat the XML output to the custom date category.
    Now the big question; How to do it without the trailing characters i.e. 'XYZ' in the above output. If I remove them, then Excel will again try to custom format the date. I read soemwhere that blank space can be used to append but am not sure how it will be in the code.
    By the way in the 'text Form Field Options' I am using type as 'Regular Text'.
    Appreciate any help.
    Thanks

  • Incorrect date format in excel reports

    Hi,
    Some Activity exported from Activity overview to excel have wrong date format. For example
    Some have 21/04/2008 u2013 Correct
    Some have 13/04/09 u2013 Incorrect
    All the dateu2019s in the database seems to be correct like '2008-04-13 00:00:00.000'.
    Client is using SAP B1 2005 SP01 PL-48. Is there any know issue?
    I tried the same in B1 2007 upgrading the database. All the date seems to be correct when I export it here.
    What may be the reason?
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

  • Giving users access to Excel reports created from cubes

    I have created several Excel dashboards and would like to give regular users access to view them.  I'd like them to be able to choose their own date ranges using different slicers in the dashboards.  What kind of security do I need to setup to
    give a user access to these with only view rights?  It looks like right now they receive a datasource error when they open the files.
    Thanks in advance!

    On the DW SQL Server, click Start, click All Programs, click
    Microsoft SQL Server 2008, and then click SQL Server Management Studio.
    In the Connect to Server dialog box, in the Server type list, select
    Analysis Services.
    In the Server name box, select or type the name of the server where the DW DB Server is located, and then click
    Connect.
    In Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, in Object Explorer, expand the <server name> node, expand the
    Databases node, expand the DWASDataBase node, and then expand the
    Roles node.
    Double-click the SCDW_Report_Readers node.
    In the Edit Role dialog box, in the Select a page pane, click
    Membership.
    Click Add to add users or click Remove to delete users, and then follow the instructions on the screen. This adds and deletes users who have access to the whole cube.

  • Excel report and automatic format via VBA

    Hello,
    I made a report in MSY and created a Makro to format the Excel Sheet (the relevant data is copyied to another Workbook). Now I tried to run this Makro on startup so the user has no need to do this manually.
    This was done by the Workbook_Open() VBA command.
    But now there are several errors, because the makro was executed before the Workbook has been opened at all. For example, the error "the actual Workbook is in use" and something similar occured.
    To test the workbook_open() command, the following code produce 2 message boxes before the Excel Workbook is opened:
    Private Sub Workbook_Open()
        MsgBox "this should not happen"
    End Sub
    Even by saving the Makro in MSY, the message occured (so the makro must be executed).
    Is it possible to prevent the makro execution BEFORE the Worksheet is completely opened or is there a need to start the makro manually to format the Excel sheet?
    Thank you for your suggestions!
    Regards,
    Christian

    I would suggest something like:
    DBAdapter --> Bpel Process --> File Adapter --> write file to location (you can write in csv which can be imported into xls)
    Read Location --> FileAdapter --> Bpel Process --> Email Activity

  • Invalid export DLL or export format" with Crystal Reports 2008 to Excel xls

    We are experiencing the same issue as reported in the sticky thread. I answered in that thread, but thought that I woudl open a new thread to keep track of this issue.  I can give you the responses to your questions you have requested in that thread:
    Server Operating System - MS Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition SP2
    Version of the .NET Framework - MS .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
    How did you deploy? - Installed CR 2008 SP1 runtime with msi package
    If you deployed with CRRuntime_12_0_mlb.msi - what was the date of the file and its size? CRRuntime_12_1_mlb.msi dated Sept. 16, 2008 12:55:00 PM, size: 56,717,824 bytes
    What is the file version of crpe32.dll on your server? You'll find this in the C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86 directory - File was created 9/13/08 11:21AM, 9451KB File Version: 12.1.0.882
    How many libpng10.dll files are on your system? List all instances. - 1 instance is on the system located in C;\Program Files\Business Objects\Business Objects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86 directory. It is dated 9/13/08 8:52:26AM 132KB version 1.0.30.1
    Any additional comments - We have tried to export to PDF and this works successfully. However, we can not export to xls or rft formats.
    CRXF_XLS.dll is 905KB 9/13/08 9:38AM Version 12.1.0.882
    CRXF_RTF.dll is 509KB 9/13/08 9:35AM Version 12.1.0.882
    We also have the CR XIR2 server runtime installed side by side on the server as we migrate from CR 2008 to CR XIR2 SP4 ( where this function does work currently).
    Please let me know if you need anything additional.

    "Invalid export DLL or export format" with Crystal Reports 2008
    Posted: Sep 27, 2008 12:36 AM       E-mail this message      Reply
    I've included this sticky because we are seeing many posts in this forum regarding the error Invalid export DLL or export format when exporting to Excel and RTF in .NET applications using the Crystal Reports 2008 .NET SDK.
    Issue
    Exporting a Crystal Report to Excel or RTF format
    .NET application using the Crystal Reports 2008 runtime (version 12.0)
    error Invalid export DLL or export format
    We've been doing some testing in-house and haven't reproduced this behavior. In order to figure this issue out we will need your help. If you are getting this error please reply to this post with the following information:
    Server Operating System
    Version of the .NET Framework
    How did you deploy?
    If you deployed with CRRuntime_12_0_mlb.msi - what was the date of the file and its size?
    What is the file version of crpe32.dll on your server? You'll find this in the C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86 directory
    How many libpng10.dll files are on your system? List all instances.
    Any additional comments
    What We Know
    The error invalid export DLL or export format may occur when exporting to Excel and RTF formats in .NET applications utilizing the Crystal Reports 2008 runtime (v 12.0)
    Other export formats like Adobe PDF, Crystal Reports, CSV all export with no error
    Some customers have resolved this by adding C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86 to their environment path variables
    This may have something to do with the file libpng10.dll. Both crxf_xls.dll and crxf_rtf.dll are dependent on it.
    Thanks in advance for your co-operation. We hope to figure out what is causing this issue soon.

    Hi,
    I am also having the same problem, except that I am not using Crystal Report 2008 runtime but the actual Crystal Report 2008 installation on Windows XP SP2 with VS Studio 2005 (VC++). MS .NET Framework 2.0.
    Cyrstal Report XIR2 was installed on the same machine but uninstalled before installing Crystal Report 2008.
    So only one instance of libpng10.dll and found in C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86
    Crpe32.dll        3/1/2008 version 12.0.0.683
    Crxf_xls.dll       3/1/2008 version 12.0.0.683
    Crxf_rtf.dll         3/1/2008 version 12.0.0.683
    crdb_oracle.dll  3/1/2008 version 12.0.0.683
    libpng10.dll       3/1/2008 version 1.0.30.0             122880 bytes
    There is no problem for exporting to pdf, html, word, csv, Crystal Report. If I create a testing report without any data from database, the testing report can then be exported also to rtf and xls.
    Oracle 11.1.0.6 is the DB for the reports.
    Adding C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86 to the path did not resolve my problem.
    Any idea to fix this issue?
    Thanks

  • XML Publisher to Excel Report : Date format problem

    Hi,
    I am trying to create an Excel report with XML Publisher. I have an issue with the Date Fomatting.
    In the XML template, I have set the "Date" column in date format. But the excel output report "Date" column returns as "General text" (string) and it is sorted as text, not as date.
    Can anyone please help me out?
    Thanks!!!

    Hi,
    Did this post solve your problem? I have the same issue that I need to solve.
    I have an xsl-fo template with dates in it.
    The dates are in english.
    My excel is setup to use danish.
    When I export to excel it knows the month jan, feb, mar, apr, ... which are the same in danish and english.
    But months where it differs like may (danish maj) the cell is a general text instead of date.
    Is there anyway you can set/transform the date in the xsl-fo template so it does not care about the language in excel?
    Thank you in advance.

    We currently do not support SQL aliasing of directories. This

  • Oracle Reports 6i -- Image embeded, formatting PDF, Excel

    I am using Oracle Reports 6i on Windows 2000. I run the reports from a Java application, using the RWServlet, passing in the URL all the parameters needed.
    Now I need to run from my application oracle reports created by somebody else. Initially those reports were run from a client/server application in the client's Report Runtime environment. And I need at my turn to create others with the same look and feel.
    The existent reports do not appear to use any template.
    I was going through the Oracle Reports documentation, but I still have to clarify some things.
    Here there are my questions:
    1.- The company logo image
    I found in the Layout Model/Main Section/Margin an image object, but I looked in the Property Palette and there is no path to the image, just under Boilerplate there is a object of Type Image.
    How does the report know what to embed in the report's header?
    2.- Printing reports in different formats: i.e. PDF
    When the reports are run in the client/server Report Runtime environment, the user can print the report in different formats including PDF, Delimited, XML, etc.
    Is there a way to print the report in PDF or any other format from my web application that uses the RWServlet?
    3.- Report appearance in the browser
    Run in the browser the report loses formatting as opposed to client/server.
    Is there a way to make the report look good through some sort of general configuration, or should I fix each element that doesn't look god in Live Previewer, or somewhat else?
    4.- Report in Excel
    Is it possible to save the report to an Excel file or to generate it in Excel from Oracle Reports?
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

    Whew...lot's of questions...let's see if I can help (at least a little)...
    1. Quite possibly, the user is/was pulling the image from the database? I do this in my environment, so it might be worth a look.
    2. You should be able to print in any format from the web. You may need to adjust your destype/desname/desname parameters.
    3. Only thing I can think of here is that maybe the original report was not written using a standard web-friendly font?
    4. There's a couple of ways you can get data into an excel file:
    A. Use DDE and poke the data right into it (messy when you need to print the regular Oracle report too).
    B. Add an option to print to file and set the desformat to DELIMITEDDATA. Be sure to go through the data model and set Exclude from XML Output to 'Yes' for fields you don't need. Also, be aware that this may not come out in the same order as they do on the printed report. You can read about this on Metalink.
    Hopefully that helps you a little bit. :)

    I have searched for it on internet :-

    Example, given in the last of the page opened from the above url, is not working.
    Can neone plz explain the example and how to use it
    Thanks & Regards
    JD

    Ok, for the release 2 its quite straightfoward, in your calling form you would have something like this code:
    declare
         pl_id ParamList;
    repid REPORT_OBJECT;
    v_rep VARCHAR2(100);
    v_rep_status VARCHAR2(20);
    v_repsrv     VARCHAR2(100):= 'yourreportserver';
    v_serv varchar2(50) := 'yourservername' ;
    begin
    pl_id := Get_Parameter_List('tmpdata');
    if not id_null(pl_id) then
    Destroy_Parameter_List( pl_id );
    end if;
    pl_id := Create_Parameter_List('tmpdata');
    Add_Parameter(pl_id,'DESTYPE' ,TEXT_PARAMETER,'Screen' );
    Add_Parameter(pl_id,'PARAMFORM' ,TEXT_PARAMETER,'NO' );
    repid := FIND_REPORT_OBJECT('yourreport');     SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_COMM_MODE,SYNCHRONOUS);
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_EXECUTION_MODE,RUNTIME);
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_SERVER, v_repsrv);
    set_report_object_property(repid,REPORT_DESTYPE,CACHE );
    set_report_object_property(repid,REPORT_DESFORMAT,'SPREADSHEET' );
    v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(repid,pl_id);
    v_rep := substr(v_rep,length(v_repsrv)+2,10 ) ;
    end;
    I have plenty of reports being formated to excel with this same method so it should work for you, the only diference with my previous code is this line.
    set_report_object_property(repid,REPORT_DESFORMAT,'SPREADSHEET' );
    The rest remains untouched.
    Hope it helps.

    Hi,
    I got a problem while exporting the pdf format of the Report to Excel format "Fully-Foramtted Grids and Texts".
    The format gets automatically changed.
    Is there any solution to this problem.

    Can you give some more details?
    Which version are you using (and which patch level - if any).
    Also what formatting is default on the reports and what is the default format in excel.
    What exactly is different between PDF and excel?
    Another possibility is that font substitution is going on??

  • Best Practice for creating Excel report from SSIS.

    I have a requirement to create an Excel report on a daily basis which pulls data from SQL. I have attempted to resolve this by creating a stored procedure to save the results in SQL, a template in Excel to hold the graphs & pivot tables and an SSIS package
    to copy the data to the template.
    Problem 1: When the data turns up in Excel it is saved as text rather than numbers.
    Problem 2: When the data turns up in Excel it appends the data rather than overwriting it.
    I resolved problem 1 by having another sheet which converts the text to numbers (=int(sheet1!A1))
    I resolved problem 2 by adding some VB script to my SSIS package which clears the existing cells before copying the data
    The job runs fine, however when I schedule the job to run overnight it complains "System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID". A little googling tells me that running the client side commands in
    my vb script (workSheet1.Range("A2:F9999").Clear(), workBook.Save(), workBook.Close() etc) from a server side task is bad practice.
    So, I am left wondering how people usually get around this problem; copy a SQL table into an existing Excel file and overwrite the data, without having the numbers turn up as text. My requirements are that the report must display pivot charts with selectable
    options and be automatically updated overnight.
    Help appreciated,
    Bish.
    Office 2013 on my PC, Office 2010 on the server, Windows Server 2008R2 Enterprise, SQL Server 2008R2.

    I think that the best practice in case like this is to Link an excel file to a view or directly to a table. So you don't have to struggle with changing template, with overnight packages, etc. If the data are too much complex and the desiderate too excessive
    then I tend to create a Cube and that's it...dashboard, graph and everyone is happy. In your case if the request is not too much try to don't use SSIS but directly build a view and point directly on SQL.
    SSIS is really strong for the ETL, to run some stored procedure too heavy, to use a cut time scheduled, etcetera , etcetera, etcetera...I love it. But sometimes we need to find the easier solutions...
    I hope this post helped you
