Oracle Reports 6i -- Image embeded, formatting PDF, Excel

I am using Oracle Reports 6i on Windows 2000. I run the reports from a Java application, using the RWServlet, passing in the URL all the parameters needed.
Now I need to run from my application oracle reports created by somebody else. Initially those reports were run from a client/server application in the client's Report Runtime environment. And I need at my turn to create others with the same look and feel.
The existent reports do not appear to use any template.
I was going through the Oracle Reports documentation, but I still have to clarify some things.
Here there are my questions:
1.- The company logo image
I found in the Layout Model/Main Section/Margin an image object, but I looked in the Property Palette and there is no path to the image, just under Boilerplate there is a object of Type Image.
How does the report know what to embed in the report's header?
2.- Printing reports in different formats: i.e. PDF
When the reports are run in the client/server Report Runtime environment, the user can print the report in different formats including PDF, Delimited, XML, etc.
Is there a way to print the report in PDF or any other format from my web application that uses the RWServlet?
3.- Report appearance in the browser
Run in the browser the report loses formatting as opposed to client/server.
Is there a way to make the report look good through some sort of general configuration, or should I fix each element that doesn't look god in Live Previewer, or somewhat else?
4.- Report in Excel
Is it possible to save the report to an Excel file or to generate it in Excel from Oracle Reports?
Thanks in advance,
Paul

Whew...lot's of questions...let's see if I can help (at least a little)...
1. Quite possibly, the user is/was pulling the image from the database? I do this in my environment, so it might be worth a look.
2. You should be able to print in any format from the web. You may need to adjust your destype/desname/desname parameters.
3. Only thing I can think of here is that maybe the original report was not written using a standard web-friendly font?
4. There's a couple of ways you can get data into an excel file:
A. Use DDE and poke the data right into it (messy when you need to print the regular Oracle report too).
B. Add an option to print to file and set the desformat to DELIMITEDDATA. Be sure to go through the data model and set Exclude from XML Output to 'Yes' for fields you don't need. Also, be aware that this may not come out in the same order as they do on the printed report. You can read about this on Metalink.
Hopefully that helps you a little bit. :)

  • Oracle Reports 6i - image do not show on html

    Hi,
I am using Oracle Reports 6i, on Windows 2000.
I am running the reports from a Java Web application using RWServlet. The reports are just fine if I use PDF as DESFORMAT, but the images are not shown if the DESFORMAT is html.
The architecture is with the application running on a different server than the Reports Server and the Oracle 8i database, which reside on the same machine.
    Any idea, why?
    Thanks,
    Paul

  • Running Oracle Reports in unix, output in pdf file

    Hi all,
Anybody currently running Oracle Reports in unix platform and the output is generated in pdf format & display in browser?
Can you please advise on what are all the environment variables that I have to set in order to get the report runs?
Besides, what are the specific printer setting that I have to set? as well as priviledge on directory if necessary.
My reports are created in PC with RDF format. When run in unix, can the RDF still be used or it has been to recompile? If recompile, how is this done?
I always get the following error but do not what is the cause:
REP-0110: Unable to open file 'myreport.rdf'. REP-1070: Error while opening or saving a document. REP-0110: Unable to open file 'myreport.rdf'.
    Please advise.
Hope to receive your reply asap.
    Great thanks in advance.

What command did you type in to run your report in Unix? Did you give the full path of your rdf file. I guess that the system may not be find your rdf file correctly.

  • Code39Wide-Regular Fonts in the crystal report cannot be embedded with PDF

    Hello ,
    Good Day!
We are using Code39Wide-Regular Fonts in the crystal report for bar codes. While converting this report to the PDF format from Crystal viewer, we are getting the following error. It seems like this particular font cannot be embedded with PDF format.
Error - Failed to Export the report
Code39Wide-Regular- Font is not allowed to be embeded in document,
    File - F:\Apps\9.40\Crystal\sfc\jobprtx.rpt
How can we solve this issue permanantly (Not a workaround )?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Philip P Oommen | Consona | 0091-80-40173801 |

Hi Philip, Due to licensing issues CR cannot embed licensed fonts in a PDF file. Your only work around is to export the report to editable Word format and then open the file in Word 2007 and get the export to PDF plug-in available from Microsoft.
This will not be fixed in this or upcoming version of CR.
    Thank you

  • Report download displays wrong format in excel

I have a text field that is a number, dash, then four numbers 1-2345..
in an interactive report, when I download to CSV or XLS this field is converted to a date field 1/1/2345..
If I then change format to text it divides the numbers and gives me the output..
the only workaround I can find is: save to csv.. rename extention to .txt... then when you open the txt the import wizard will run and you can change the column type to text before excel screws everything up...

    tried both already.
    same results opening the file..
and using ''''||FIELD as ALIAS then doesnt show the data just the '
fyi.. the field has both 1-2345 and 1-2345-B (the ones with the dash -B work correctly and they showed up when I added the ''''||FIELD)

  • A tool for Oracle Report , It can convert HTML to Excel

Hi All , I suggest you a freeware which can convert HTML to Excel . It can also split HTML file into each page and print partly you can download it from http://repbrowser.freewebpage.org/
    Regards

    Hi Albiz,
    try this:
    # Defaults to comma delimiter
    $Drives | Select PSChildName, PSDrive, PSprovider, PSIsContainer | Export-Csv "output.csv" -NoTypeInformation
    # Add custom Delimiter
    $Drives | Select PSChildName, PSDrive, PSprovider, PSIsContainer | Export-Csv "output.csv" -NoTypeInformation -Delimiter ";"
Depending on your region you may want to change the delimiter, so your Excel automatically detects the format and presents it as a table. By Adding just the names of the properties you want in the Select Block you can cut down on total data and chose the
order in which they are exported.
    Cheers,
    Fred

  • Printing reports issue (Word/PDF/Excel...)

    Hello Apex masters,
    Here's the deal:
I have a page in which I have
    1. report - "sql query" type: "select * from dual", Print Attributes: Enable Report Printing=Yes, Output format=PDF (default options)
    2. button item: "Apply filter", Button Request=Filter
    3. Branch: target type=page in this app, page=same page, when button pressed=APPLY_FILTER
    Behavior:
    1. If I login, open this page, use the "Print" url from the report, a PDF file is successfully generated.
    2. If I login, open the page, click on the "Apply filter" button and then use the "Print" url from the report, an empty PDF file is generated. (same thing happens for Word, excel etc...)
I also have some other items on the page, but I guess that it shouldn't make a difference.
    My workspace is on apex.oraclecorp.com.
    Thanks a lot,
    Andrei

    Andrei,
Given that you' re running this on an Oracle internal site, could you email me login information for your workspace or re-create this sample on a workspace I can access?
    Thanks,
    Marc

  • Dynpro to PDF/Excel

    Experts,
I developed a report using 2 containers, the first (top) one contains an ALV report and second (bottom) has a graph based on data from the ALV. Now I need to be able to download the screen output - both the ALV and Graph into a local file - PDF/Word or Excel.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance
    NW

    Sandra,
Thanks for reminding - the forum is an ocean indeed! I didn't find suitable information though. Let me expand as you ask:
The requirement started off as to display statistical data in a report in a tabular format as well as a 3-d bar graph (yes, I was given an excel file and asked to create an ABAP Report in the same fashion - you know how demanding Users/Clients can get.)
I could achieve that by creatinf a screen (ex: DYNPRO 100) with 2 containers - CNT1 for ALV Report above CNT2 for the 3d Bar Graph referring to cl_gui_chart_engine.
All was well till the ourpur was cheerfully appreciated. Now, the twist: The report needs to be downloaded into local files. Never did anything like this before... a few things are eating me up now:
    1. Is it possible to get the report data in tabular format into excel and add the graph as an image below that table.
    2. The top container creates scroll bars if the ALV lines go beyond its defined height.
    3. I guess cl_gui_chart_engine has methods that can convert the graph into an image format...
I am thinking if the table data can be populated direct from the itab, into excel and add this image in the same file, same sheet.
I was looking for some suggestions from the Community. Not necessarily solutions but something that can give me direction!
