Formatting issues with a cut and pasted PDF document

Hi,
I am working with a lot of scanned PDF text and online PDF documents. When i paste them into pages 09, I am getting that little Paragraph symbol after each line of text. I think it is basically a line break. This causes problems for me and I wish that there was a fast way of deleting all of thise little breaks at one time somehow instead of manually deleting them, line by line, like i've been doing. PLEASE someone, if you can help with this, you will save me untold hours of tedious labor.
thanks!

Welcome to the Apple forums
Peter's solution is excellent & I've used it for years. But there are a couple of options that automate the process. Here's a thread with an explanation & links.

    4. Paste in the new document.

  • Cut and paste pdf files

    I have a need to cut and paste from a pdf file into text editor is this possible. I have searched for 3rd party software and have not come up with any thing any help would be appreciated.
    thanks

    I'd guess that you won't be able to copy and paste text since Ghost Script utilizes PostScript which is essentially an image file. It would be like trying to grab text from a bmp file...it's not text anymore because it's a picture of the text.
    For other documents if you have the Acrobat 8 Reader and the tools are greyed out, then it sounds that most likely security was set to not allow copy and paste. The person who distilled the document would have selected that security option when creating the pdf. You can check that in the security settings in Properties.

    Do a Select all on your pages (Most likely a master page if it effects all pages) and you will likely find an empty element or element that extends past the design edges in your desktop design.

  • Incorrect formatting in Terminal using cut and paste

    I'm at a bit of a loss here as none of my other macs seem to do this
    When I'm in Terminal and do a copy of text it sometimes seems to corrupt the layout. When I paste it, it would all end up on one line.
    For example:
    if (a=a) then {
    print "test";
    would end up as:
    if (a=a) then { print "test"; }
    Which isn't a big deal for copying 3 lines, but when I'm in a configuration file that requires proper layout or is 100 lines long, can drive me crazy.
    I've compaired my terminal settings on my home MBP to my work, all settings are the same. I feel like i'm missing something obvious here... my terminal emulation shouldn't be the issue, if I connect with my "home" mbp it works properly every time..
    Anyone have any thoughts? Suggestions? I've tried searching the discussion forums and google, however the terms "cut paste terminal" are pretty widely used
    Thanks!

    In that case, Terminal is ignoring the Mac lineendings. I have the same problem with text pasted from editors like Tex-Edit, however Tex-Edit includes plenty of menu tools for text conversion. The characters are still there but are invisible, so running a script on the window converts the lineendings from any to any format. This is an old story with Macs vs UNIX vs DOS. Every system has its own linendings

  • Cut and paste not working in (total)finder

    Hi all
    I have noticed an issue with my cut and paste option on my macbook pro since I upgraded to Mountain Lion OS. Hi CT and meera404,
    I am having the same problem of not being able to perform "command-x" and "command-v" (cut & paste) in Finder on Mac OS X 10.8.2.
    When I go into the Finder menu options and click on the "Edit" tab menu, it appears that the "Cut" button is not available and appears as disabled.
    Any suggestions on how I can enable this?
    Thanks in advance for the feedback!

  • In SharePoint Document Library Cut and Paste option not working correctly.

    Hi,
    I have a SharePoint Document Library which has the following.
    Folder1 which contains two files named as a File1 and File2
    Folder1 ------------> File1 & File2
    Folder2 has no files.
    Now i am cut the file "File2" from Folder1 and paste in to Folder2.
    Issue is "File2" not permanently remove from "Folder1". It is retaining in "Folder1" It self.
    Can anyone tell me. What is the issue in it?
    Regards
    Poomani Sankaran

    Hi Poomani,
    According to your description, “File 2” still exists in Folder1 after it is been cut and paste to Folder2.
    Can you provide more details about how you perform the operations?
    I tried to move the file between folders in a library in the two ways below, both work without issue:
    1. “Open with Explorer”: cut and paste the file in the Windows Explorer interface;
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2629108?wa=wsignin1.0
    2. In the “Site Content and Structure”, use the “Move…” feature of a library;

  • Cut and paste in Leopard

    Hello. This is a question regarding the cut and paste options. Actually to move an item from a file to another one I have to copy it and then paste it in the other file, then have to go back to the original item and delete it. How do I enable to cut an item (so it no longer appears in a file) and paste it in another one? I do not want to copy, want to move it. Thanks.

    We're debating here over something called "User Experience".
    If I remember well the Windows model has been thoroughly based on the Mac model. But not "all" features could be "copied" because of patent infringements. Anyways - I don't want to be the cause of a long debate already closed years ago - the issue is that we're facing here two different "User Experiences" (acronym is UX).
    Unfortunately, there is this human habit to instinctively adhere to "paradigms": For one person, moving a file from one place to another must be done via a Drag and Drop. For others, it must be done with a Cut and Paste.
    Well, it's anyone's choice and can't be argued !
    Changing OS is like changing living environment, it's a matter of changing paradigm. Even between major versions of an OS you have to change paradigm.
    For instance. As a long time HPUX admin, I was used to HP-Vue, Then we moved to CDE and ranted about CDE. Now that I'm using a Mac as may platform to access my "other" Unix systems, I got used of "Virtual Desktop" from Codeteck. Now there is Space.
    See, I've got to go through 4 different systems of Virtual Desktop management (and still no Windows!).
    No, back to the Drag-n-Drop vs Ctrl-X-V. I am very fast with moving files. You know that you can drag and hold your file over a volume or folder icon you have in the left pane of your Finder's window. You'll see them spring open showing up where potentially you could drop it.
    In order to be fast in my work, I keep my workspace very structured and organized. I have an icon of each of my principal locations set in the "Places" tab of the Finder's left pane (can't figure out its name). This organization helps me a lot designing my Time Machine backup strategy, too.
    Because MacOSX is very well structured, it helps you organizing your account clean. But, the way to move files around is Drag and Drop
    (or the 'mv' command through a shell terminal)

  • Can't cut and paste from an Open Office document to my email

    I'm trying to cut and paste a document in Open Office into the body of an email. I have Firefox 26.0 and Windows 8.

    Thank you very much for your help but it didn't work. After I copied my text and switched to my email in Firefox, there was no option to choose "paste" into the body of the email. Could it be that this is because I'm using Open Office for word processing instead of Microsoft? I'm a very LOW teach guy!

  • How to cut and paste subtitles (with formatting)?

    In iMovie '09, once I've formatted a subtitle to look the way I want, how can I repeatedly cut and paste that subtitle so that I don't need to redo the formatting for every subsequent subtitle?
    I realize this is probably trivial once you see it ... but it's not obvious to me. Couldn't find it in Help or in Apple's FindOutHow movie.

  • Importing issues with Final Cut Pro X. Green flash and twitches while play back

    Hello, I'm having some importing issues with Final Cut Pro X and I can't find any solution whatsoever. Perhaps my importing settings are wrong?
    Anyways, I've done a lot of recordings on eye TV and HD PVR with some videos that are about 3 hours long. I exported them into H.264 files, which turns them into mpeg-4 files with AAC audio. Then I import them into final cut pro X and I notice it takes a long time for them to render the videos and I notice that there are some green screens and twitches while I play through the video.
    Here is a screenshot of the green screen that I'm talking about:

    Could it be my 2 video graphics card that is causing this kind of issues? Or is there any solution to fix this?
    In the past, I've used iMovie 09 and it worked out perfectly. However, the new iMovie 11 is terrible because it automatically optimzie my 3 hour long videos into making the importing process to (144 hours long to import). Is there any way to get iMovie 09 back or am I stuck on dealing with this Final Cut Pro X issues?

  • Mac Word 2008 Cut-And-Paste broken with DW CS3

    The title pretty much says it all - something is failing in
    the process of cutting text from a MS Word 2008 (Mac) document into
    Dreamweaver CS3. Nothing gets transferred.
    I can cut text from Word and paste into other text editors
    (BBEdit, TextMate, TextEdit) without any problem... and can then
    cut and paste that into DW... but, of course, all formatting
    information is stripped - which isn't always a bad thing: this is
    Word, after all...
    Cut-and-paste from Word 2004 worked OK. It's a strange thing
    to have break... and it's odd to me that Word got out of beta with
    this, given the fact that Dreamweaver is as popular as it
    is.

    Well, I can't give any dates, but it's not any time in the
    next few
    months.
    If I figure out an easy workaround, I'll let you know
    directly.

    Request and Bug Report Form for Dreamweaver
    Since upgrading to Office 2008, I can

    When I click Edit -> Paste, or Cmd-V, nothing happens. If
    I do a

    works.
    Dreamweaver did not have this issue with Word 2004.
