Formatting Part of a Formula

CA Forum: Formula
I have the following formula which works fine:
{PH_STUD_QUAL_CPNT.CPNT_ID} & ": " & {PA_CPNT.CPNT_TITLE} & " (" & {PH_STUD_QUAL_CPNT.REV_DTE} & ")"
I need to apply bold to a portion of the formula, but cannot find any font formatting functions. Is it even possible? I would imagine the following solution would be something like:
font.bold({PH_STUD_QUAL_CPNT.CPNT_ID} & ": ") & {PA_CPNT.CPNT_TITLE} & " (" & {PH_STUD_QUAL_CPNT.REV_DTE} & ")"
Thanks!

I've never tried anything like that before but what you could do is have one text field with all your fields listed in there and conditinally format each field as needed and you would still be able to put in the : and ) like you want

  • How do you set a default format property for a formula defined in the AWM?

Is there a way to define a default format property for a formula that I create in the AW?
For example, if I define a formula in AW I can assign it a datatype of decimal. But what property do I need to add if want that formula to by DEFAULT always display a certain way, regardless if I use the Discover Plus with OLAP option or OracleBI Spreadsheet Addin?
Example: want to display it by default, in the AW cube, as being associated to a format of 00.0000 or 00.0000% or $###,##0.00 etc. This way, no mater what tool I use to view the cube, it will by default inherit my default format (set in the AW).
    Thanks.

Okay, but if I use the out-of-the-box products Oracle provides (ie: Discover Plus with Olap, and the OracleBI Spreadsheet Addin) I still dont understand what my solution is?
The only other solution we tried was to create formulas using AWM template files. The issue here is trying to find out what property syntax needs to be added to the XML code, so that my formula, by default, is associated to a certain formating style (ie: 00.00). And then when you reference that formula in those out-of-the-box Oracle products, it displays as expected.

  • Structure XPTO contains formulas that use cells as part of the formula

    Hi,
I'm having the following error in query designer.
"Structure XPTO contains formulas that use cells as part of the formula".
In the query i'm working I don't use cells.
Do you know what this error means.
    Best regards,
    João Arvanas

Hi João, Is there a possibility any of your formulas in the structure may be referencing some other query / CKFs? Is it possbile your structure was created in another query & reused in your new one? If so, you may unlock all links using the option 'Remove Reference' which can be accessed by right clicking on your structure.

  • Part timer accrual formula - consider date track change

Needed some help with part timers accrual formula.
The accrual formula need to prorate the entitlement based on the work hours and accrual bands(years of service).
The accrual formula should account for date track changes to both the years of service and work hours.
    How can this be achieved?

This is a common but difficult problem to implement. When I've done this before I've:
    1) Used a looping Accrual Fast Formula inside the main Accrual Fast Formula (like the seeded ones), but
    2) Built a custom User Defined Fast Formula Function to retrieve the next date of change of hours/years service
    3) Called this UDT inside the looping Fast Formula to determine the next change
    4) Prorate accruals from the beginning of the year up until the next date of change
    5) Loop from the date of change going forward
    6) In the next looping iteration call the UDT again to find the next change from now
    7) Prorate accruals from now until the next date of change
    8) Continue 6-7 until there are no more changes this year.
So in a simple year the looping formula just runs twice: once from the beginning of the year up until the service anniversary and again from the service anniversary to the end of the year. In an example where an employee changes hours it loops three times: once from the beginning of the year up until the hours change (assuming in this case the hours change comes before the service anniversary), then again from the hours change to the service anniversary, and then again from the service anniversary to the end of the year.
In a complex example with multiple hours changes it can loop as many times as needed.

  • Conditional formating based on excel formula

    Hi experts!
I have a problem with BPC formatting. Under my EVDRE expansion, I inserted a column to validate some data before sending it. The value of this formula can be TRUE or FALSE and it validates each row of the expansion.
Now, if the value is false, the row or at least some fields of it must turn red so the user knows were are the mistakes.
I have defined under the format range an entry for the heading to evaluate in rows and in format I create the next conditional formatting:: =$I38 = FALSE ---> background red.
When I push the refresh button, the format applies to al heading under the expansion, but the conditional format formula changes to =$I1064034 = FALSE
If I lock the row number, it won't iterate for each row and the format will be based just on one cell instead of one cell per row.
¿Any ideas? ¿Other ways to achieve this? I've also tried to format the cell inside the expand and eliminate the entry on the format range but it doesn't expand to the rest of the cells...
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Nilanjan!
Thanks for the answer, the individual conditional formatting is working fine!
The reason why it wasn't working the first time was because it's incompatible to do individual conditional formatting with conditional formatting on format range.
I gues I'll have to do all the formatting on individual cells...
    Thanks agains!

  • Print Report - Choose from Multiple Formats Part II

    Hello again!
I followed the instructions to create a report that gives the client the option to select an output format using a select list. ( http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/apex/apex31nf/apex31rpt.htm#t2 ).
This works great, but I have a predefined template that I created using BI Publisher that I would like the PDF report format to use instead of the generic layout. All the other formats can use the generic layout option, but the PDF report needs to use the .rtf file. Is this possible, and if so, how?
    Thank you!

  • How can I paste a part of a sheet from Numbers in Pages as text, without the formulas. The reason I need this (and was used to in Office) so that I have the freedom to delete something in one cell (in pages document) without causing changes.

How can I paste a part of a sheet that I copied in Numers in a pages document without the formulas, simply as text. Used this a lot in Office. When I make some changes in the pages document. f.i. deleting a cell, I don't want to change other cells. Also when I copy a part of a sheet from Numbers and one of the cells that is part of the formula is not also copied, when I paste in Pages it shows as an error.
Hope that You can me help with this.

    Leon,
There are two solutions to the first question, narrowing to one solution when you have a broken link causing an error.
    Here's the "works always" solution.
Copy (Command-C) the table or range in Numbers
Click off the table on the blank canvas of the sheet.
    Edit > Paste Values
    Command-C
    Switch to Pages
    Command-V

  • Missing Tool, Format and Formula Bars

I am new to Numbers and cannot figure out how to bring up the Tool Bar, the Format bar and the Formula bar also the Sheets pane on a spreadsheet. Is it because I cannot find the "View" button?

    Hi Norm,
Well, if you don't have the Toolbar showing, then you won't find the View button.
Fortunately, that's not the only place to find "Show Toolbar."
You can also toggle the display of the Toolbar using the keyboard shortcut shown in the menu—option-command-T.

  • Sort formula format

    Hi,
I need help on system action "Sort rows". What format the field "sort formula" has?
Edited by: Eugene Balakhonov on Apr 15, 2008 3:17 PM

    Hi,
the formula is of type string, and it represents the sorting order.
the expression is a string expression that is evaluated against each object in turn and returns the string value the defines the position of the object in the sorting order.
after passing on all the dataset's objects the infoset cursor points on the first object in the newly sorted infoset.
    so far the technical stuff..
    for example:
    for objects:
      FIRST_NAME  |  LAST_NAME
    1 Kenny                Smith
    2 John                   Smith
    3 George               Bush
    SORT(@LAST_NAME & "," & @FIRST_NAME)
this will sort all the object in lexicographic order, i.e. Smith, John before Smith, Kenny and After Bush, George.

  • Partition External Harddrive and part format Extended Journaled part fat32?

    Hello
I bought a Toshiba NTFS formatted External Harddrive for the safe keep of my files.
I want it to make partition into 2, and one part to format Mac Extended (Jounaled), one part to FAT32.
    Is this possible?
    Many thanks.

    Thank you very much.
    Can I have related question?
Is it possible to make 3 partitions on a harddisk?
    If it is,
Can I retain NTFS on a partitioned part?
Or does it have to be entirely formated to Mac readable/wrtitable fotmat?
I mean if I partision in 3 parts can I format
    part 1 Mac JOurnal
    part 2 FAT32
    part3 to retain NTFS?
    Many many thanks

  • Excel formulas/formatting SV Hyp Essbase dimensionality

Hello. I am building a large report in Excel/Smart View Essbase. I am having issues with formulas that I have placed within dimension cells. For example, I want to create an IF statement formula to select a certain member for a Financial Element depending on the type of report the user needs to retrieve. When I have formulas in the dimension cells, upon refresh, I am losing the formatting and in some cases the entire dimension in the cells will disappear. Obviously, this is causing a lot of re-work. I am also building this report for others to use, and want to provide a seamless experience for them. I can't see a way to attach screen prints of my SV opton settings, as I am assuming the answer is somewhere in there.
    Thank you.

  • How can I format a cell in Numbers to have leading zeros in a number?

I imported a spreadsheet from Excel (Office 2014, Win 7) through iCloud and some numbers were formatted to have leading zeros (012358) in the original Excel file but the leading zero format was lost in Numbers.  Is there a way to format cells to have a number displayed with the leading zero in Numbers?  The leading zero is part of an identification and is important to the numbers (0027 is not the same as 27 in these records).
    thanks,
    Bob

James has the formating part, but if you already did the import you can use the following formula to replace the zeros that were leading if you know it is a four digit reference number....
    =right("000" & A2,4)
copy those values into your text formatted column from James' answer and you got it.

  • Formatting a field in the repetitive area of the Print Layout Design

Our quantity fields in the repetitive area print out with a decimal point and 3 spaces after the decimal point (i.e. 10.000). How can I change the format of these fields so that there are no decimals included (i.e. 10) when we print an order?
    Thanks.

    Mike,
You could use the Formula ABS( )
    Add a Formula type field
In the Formula select formala ABS()
syntax: ABS(Field_xyz)..here field Field_xyz is your number field
If your value was 10.000 the result will be 10. This formula ignores the decimal part.
The formula ROUND could be used if you want to ROUND the value to the nearest higher or lower integer
    Consider number 10.450
    ROUND(Field_xyz,2)  will give 10
    ROUND(Field_xyz,1) will give 11

  • Can i count the number of Mondays in a specific month with a formula?

    Hi
I am looking for a streamlined way of calculating an amount to invoice for a job that I am paid for weekly, but for which I invoice monthly, meaning that I am invoicing different amounts each month, depending on how many Mondays fall in a given month (i.e. 4 or 5).
So I am wondering if there is a function I can use to calculate the number of Mondays in a given month automatically and then I can use this value to multiply by my weekly charge to calculate the amount to invoice each month.
    Thanks
    Nick

Responses below apply to my earlier post.
    nick_harambee wrote:
    1. What part of the formula do I need to change to do the same for other days of the week, and for other years?
No change for other years, as the full date is entered.
I haven't looked at changes necessary to the version above to show results for other days. See below for a new table that does all days.
    2. Would it be possible to construct one table with the calendar for a whole year, which would generate a count for each day of the week, which I could then use as and when needed? Or would it make more sense to construct a separate table for each day of the week (as I am referring to in question 1)?
    Depends what information you need.
If you need the count for only one week day, then a table showing only the count for that day of week will avoid having to search it out.
If you need the number of occurrences of each weekday in each month, then a table showing those, with or without an attached calendar, is in order.
Here's one that shows the count of each weekday for each month. It uses two formulas, derived from the earlier posts by Yvan and Jerry:
    B1: =DATE($A,COLUMN()-1,1)
    B2: =IF(AND(DAY(EOMONTH(B$1,0))>28,MOD(WEEKDAY(EOMONTH(B$1,0))+7-(ROW()-1),7)<(DAY( EOMONTH(B$1,0))-28)),5,4)
The formula in B1 is filled right to M1, and the cells are formatted to show only the Month and Year. Note that the cells actually contain Date and Time values, which are used in the second formula's calculations.
The formula in B2 is filled right to M2 and Down to M8.
Day names in column A are entered directly and are not used in the calculations.
The 4 digit year number is entered directly in A1. Change this number to change the year.
    <img src="http://i963.photobucket.com/albums/ae116/Barry_images/iWork09screen/Countw eekdaysinMonth.png" border="0" alt="Count of weekdays in month(s)">
Conditional formatting is used to fill cells whose value is equal to 5 with a yellow background.
