Forms 9i $$$Edition

Our current product is written in Forms/Reports 6i and runs in Client server mode and we are looking to move forward. The current situation is that our customers buy a database license and the application is a free runtime license of forms, a model similar to that of using Visual Basic and SQL Server. Am I correct in my understanding that there is NO method of deploying forms 9i without purchasing Application Server in addition to database licenses? If this is the case then Forms based applications have just become too expensive to sell.
thanks,
Phil.

What are other customer’s experiences of this?
How have you handled this, Did you pay up, Go Out of Business etc?
I cannot believe that Oracle would do this; we really have been backed into a corner. With so may years work invested into our Forms applications moving to another platform is major stuff and may have to be done as I really cannot see customers shelling out for Application Server. I have found special offers on it if you are only using it for forms which is a good idea but these seem to time limited which is no good for an ISV trying to sell.
Someone must have some answers?
Phil.

  • Making an editable PDF Form non-editable (a shortcut)

How to make a PDF form non-editable or locked.
For those who aren't script-savvy, I believe this may be a little shortcut to editing a PDF form and then saving and sending it as a non-editable or locked PDF.
This is what I have written out for my client, whom I provided an editable PDF Form, so they could edit the PDF and then send it out to their own respective clients as a NON-editable PDF.
    Instructions as follows:
How to save your PDF Form into a separate non-editable PDF to send to your client: (Using Adobe Acrobat Professional)
Step 1. Fill out the original PDF Form
Step 2. Once finished, go to “File” menu and click “Save a Copy” - title the file appropriately and save it to the desktop.
Step 3. Close the editable PDF document and do not save it (Saving it will save over the original file). Now open up the PDF you’ve just saved to
the desktop (you’ll now take the steps to make this file only non-editable).
Step 4. In the top menu, go to “Advanced” then select in that drop down menu “Security” then “Show Security Properties” - a ‘Document Properties’ window will now appear.
Step 5. From this new window, select the “Security” Menu.  Set your ‘Security Method’ to ‘Password Security’.
Step 6. A new window will appear named ‘Password Security Settings’. In this menu, tick the box that says “Restrict Editing & Printing of the document”
you’ll need to a) set a password for it,  and  b) In the ‘Printing Allowed’ drop down box, select ‘high resolution’   and if you want to, tick the
box that says ‘allow the copying of text, images and other content’
Step 7. Click OK and Save the document. Now it’s not editable unless you have the password.
Note: If you happen to want to edit the PDF at a later date, you can open the file and in the ‘Security settings’ menu on the left hand side
(the menu is represented as a little gold lock) click ‘Permission Details’ then ‘Change Settings’ to revert everything back to an editable document
    - repeat the above steps to make it a locked document again.

Thanks for your suggestions. You should also consider flattening a form if you want a non-editable copy; because the permissions password is not always respected by third-party PDF applications (for some people the form will remain editable, depending on what software they're using).
Flattening a form can be done in several ways in Acrobat: you can run a script - this.flattenPages() - or print the PDF back to PDF (aka refrying), or use the Sanitize tool in Acrobat X. It also strips out hidden content associated with the form (button actions, field calculation scripts, etc.) so provides additional data protection. Sanitize is the heavy-duty option of the three; it will remove all hidden content, leaving only what you see on the page.
One correction to your workflow - the Save a Copy menu item is not intended for creating a duplicate of a normal form, it's only available if the  form has been rights-extended and it serves to remove the extension certificate from the PDF (allowing full editing in Acrobat again). As your client is working in Acrobat they don't need a rights-extended version in the first place, and working with a normal form will make things simpler for them. In Acrobat X Pro you could create them a custom Action which automatically flattens the file and saves a duplicate, so they don't accidentally overwrite the original.

    1. Edit Form - TS17900100
    2. Approve -  TS17900101
And Also I do not think if you are planning to use above taskids then in that case you should use them based on the context.

    Hi,
As per your code, you are seletcing data from BSEG table as 'SELECT * FROM BSEG'.
BSEG is a cluster table. Its better to use only selected field from this table during select query.
Other than this run your program in SE30 and check analysis for the queries taking more time.
Better to modify them, tune them and re transport the program in production.

  • Error : Form not editable

    Hi All,
we have generated an add-on which insert value to the transcation 4m user form. while doing so....
i am receving an error -
    Form Not Editable.
    Pls try to solve it.
    Regards,
    Avijit

    Hi Avijit,
The reason for the error might be that the field type is not editable, this can be achieved by selecting form settings > Table format>Active for the corresponding field.
The other reason might be that the character length that you have defined might have exceeded the target field.
Hope this might solve the problem.

  • When I try to edit a simple contact form the editing box disappears when I click on it - any ideas?

I am doing the usual click on the form to edit. The black box 'options' appears, but any mouse click on any part of the box (including the bit that needs editing) makes the whole box disappear.  Anyone know a way around until this bug is fixed - I have customers losing potential contacts and money!

I have found a temporary fix - I went back to the previous version of Muse (I had only updated earlier today) and the menu flyout was still working.
I have to admit to being disappointed with the latest version; my mouse button doesn't work on some sections and I have to resort to using keyboard arrows to navigate. I'm sticking with the older one that works until a few more updates have arrived. TIP - don't uninstall previous versions, or save over files (use a new name for each muse version) - you're going to need them!

  • Is it possible to have two different input forms to edit the same underlying data schema?

I am noting that the Input Form name value must be equivalent to the underlying schema name.
Hence it would seem only one form per schema is possible?

The names don't have to match, but then the form XML has to explicitly call out the schema to edit with that form, using the attribute:
    entity-schema="namespace:schemaName"
in the form open tag, e.g. <form entity-schema="neo:product">.
Regarding your second question, can you use multiple forms to edit the same schema, let me look into that.

  • Creating a iview for XML Form builder Edit Form

    Dear Experts
I have created an XML Form builder application which has Edit from,Renderlist and Show form. I able to create a datafile in by going to content manager. My requirement is to create an iview for Edit form so that i can assignt he ivew to end user to fill this form. I dont want to give content admin to end user.
I need to create an ivew to XML Form builder Edit Form
    Regards
    Noel

    Hi,
Now I'm confused, what do you mean with create new data? Are users editing existing documents
(as if they go to a document example.xml > edit) or they are creating new documents (as if they go
on folder > new > forms)?
The problem is, in both cases a user would need read/write permissions.
The normal flow content (data) is created in KM is as follows:
    1. user is assigned to a role
    2. role contains KM Navigation iView
    3. KM Navigation iView executes com.sap.km.cm.navigation component
    4. user chooses New > Form UI command (edit_xml_forms)
    5. edit_xml_forms UI command executes its code (com.sapportals.wcm.rendering.uicommand.cm.UIXMLFormsCreateCommand) and open xml edit for the user
    6. user fill the form and click Save, form is created into folder
For what I understood so far, your requirement basically asks you to go directly to step 5, it is
possible to pass a URL that goes directly to step 5, the UI command button, but if you do that
you won't have a context, so chances that it will work are slim, since a context is required to
fill the parameters asked by the app (like folder, user, permissions, etc). Even though, in some cases you can
still pass the parameters via post in the URL but you must know which service/parameters the
app asks for it, also a URL is static...
That was the create scenario, I think it's more cons than pros, users would still be
able to bypass the URL iView created for that, I'd suggest evaluating again if it's really
a problem having users access cm to manage data
    kind regards,
    Rafael

  • Upload File option nolonger in sp2010 form after editing template using infopath

Hi, I want my users of the sharepoint 2010 list to be able to upload a number of documents to list items when required.
We have 2 fields on the form, one so that a document with questions can be added, and one for a similar answer document.
Befor using infopath, the enhanced type text allowed the user to upload a file to that column. But the tab which has the upload option is now missing from the form once edited by infopath.
i don't want the users to have to upload documents elswhere on the sharepoint site and it makes the process much longer.
Also I don't seem to have the attach control on my infopath settings

    Hi,
I understand that you want to upload file to SharePoint list using InfoPath form. I can reproduce you issue, after customizing the form in InfoPath, the Upload File button is missing for the rich text box. You can use the attachment control in the InfoPath
form. Since you cannot find the Attachment control in InfoPath, you can check the list settings>Advanced Settings, enable Attachments. Then customize the form in InfoPath again.

  • Column in tabular form non-editable on update but editable on insert?

I've got a tabular form and one of the columns should be editable when one chooses insert new row but once the row is created the column should not be editable.
So I want a textfield when creating a new row and a standard report column for the rows already in the table.
    Can this be done?
I really need to keep this simple (developmentwise) so it need to be done within apex's tabular form "wizard"...
    Thanks in advance
    Andreas

This is an alteranative way to do the same
This code has been tested by me in Apex 4.1.1
Step 1 --> Create a Java Script and add it to the JavaScript --> Function and Global Variable Section
One Can get the name by using Right Clicking on the PK field in Chrome and Selecting Inspect Element
    function ro()
        var pk_id = document.getElementsByName("f02");
        for (var i=0;i<pk_id.length;i++)
          if(pk_id[i].value!="")
               pk_id[i].readOnly = "readonly";
    Step 2 --> Create a Dynamic Action
    Select Advanced
Select the Event --> Framework Events -->After Refresh --> Region --> Select Your Tabular form Region
    Condition --> No Condition
True Action --> Execute JavaScript Code
In the Code box type javascript:ro()
The box will only make the Existing Rows RO, When one presses the AddRow as the region is not refreshed the user is able to add new data in the text field.
Works with Delete and Cancel as well.

  • How to distribute on browser a PDF form but editing it only online?

    1)     The final user have to edit form only online
    2)     The final user have to edit the form in more work session (also day by day…the form is very long).
    3)     I have to collect data on a database for reporting
    Optionally…
    4)     The final user could not download the final pdf (I would have avoid that he/she print the pdf).
Could you propose a technical solution to implement all this?
    Thank in advance!
    Valerio

    Hi Bernd
I saw that Adobe have web tool also to publish and edit online the PDF... (into Acrobat X Pro - trial ed. - I see that it's possible publish on "some" server).
But - after published - accessing to the form on line I could save locally the file?... will be open with a standard Acrobat Reader to fill the form?

  • Older forms not editable in Adobe X

We currently have Adobe Acrobat Pro X installed on a Windows 7 computer.  Forms created in an older version of Adobe (exact version unknown) will not allow a copy to be made so the form can be edited. It doesn’t allow us to actually “Save a Copy”.  It wants to replace the existing file only.
However once a copy is saved via "save as", the same message comes up so the form is not editable.  This does not happen in forms created with LifeCycle.

It's more of a process than an error.  When the user tries to edit the form she gets the above message.  Then when she does to "Save a Copy" it will only save with the existing file name, won't let us specify another.  At this point the process starts all over.
If we do a "Save As" we can make copies of the form until the cows come home, but trying to edit will still start the above process.
    Thanks!

  • Cannot open a form for editing after publishing.

    Hi,
I was using Infopath on my local machine. Just to check how to publish it, I clicked on the option to publish.
I had saved the .xsn file on my local. Now when I try to open it, it opens as a form. Not in edit mode. I need to edit it further before doing the final publish.
    Please help.
    /Abhishek

Hi, right click on the .xsn file and choose Design. It should open with Full Toolbar.
