  • Unable to run Oracle Form Builder from Designer 10g

    I am using Windows XP with Oracle Designer 9.0.4.5. From Design Editor, I select Run -> Oracle Forms, nothing happen. I am able to open Form Builder manually (C:\ORACLE\904\bin\ifbld90.exe). After I generated a module (form) from Designer, I have to open the FMB manually from Form Builder. In Designer 9i, I am able to open Form Builder from Designer. Is this a bug for Designer 10g?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Thanks for the response, Suresh,
    I believe this is an installation/configuration issue.
    I installed Oracle Developer Suite 9.0.4, which includes Form Builder, Report Builder, and Designer. System Path contains the ORACLE_HOME (c:\oracle\904\bin). I am able to start Form Builder from DOS command (ifbld90.exe). I am also able to start Report Builder (rwbuilder.exe) and Designer (des2k61.exe) from DOS. I am able to Run Oracle Report Builder from Designer, but just not Form Builder. I also checked the Windows registry settings and they seem alright to me.
    thanks,
    Jim

  • Open a form with space on the path with form builder from a batch

    Hi,
    I cannot open a form from a batch on Windows if the absolute path contains spaces.
    For example, if I try to open a form in "C:\" from cmd with C:\ORANT\bin\ifbld60.exe C:\Form.fmb, I have no problem, if I try to open a form in "C:\Documents and Settings" with C:\ORANT\bin\ifbld60.exe "C:\Documents and Settings\Form.fmb" or C:\ORANT\bin\ifbld60.exe C:\Documents and Settings\Form.fmb, I have some dialog with info and the error FRM-90927 and form builder doesn't start.
    Thank you,
    tom

    Why is that you want to open a FMB in Form Builder with a Batch file?
    Is it that your application has only one FMB and that you work with only one FMB all the time?
    Cheers,
    PS: And if you must open the FMB through a batch file then look up the Form Builder Help for "Command Line options". It is an excellent resource.

  • Call Oracle Forms 6i from UNIX

    Hi,
    I am new to Oracle forms and I have some querries -
    I have a form created on windows environment (.fmb/.fmx). This form accepts a parameter in a text field and calls another Oracle Report. Now my questions are:
    1. If windows forms are not compatible with UNIX environment, then how these are converted to be compatible with UNIX/Linux (without re-creating them on different platform)?
    2. Can I call the same form from UNIX shell with input as a shell script input?
    3. And if answer to the second query is no, then can I invoke Web deplyed froms (on application server) using shell? and how..
    I w'd appreciate your help!
    Regards.

    hello
    please provide forms6i (on web?,client server?),OS version.

    1. If windows forms are not compatible with UNIX environment, then how these are converted to be compatible with UNIX/Linux (without re-creating them on different platform)?you need to generate fmx on server side. this is character mode. use : f60gen yourforms.fmb username/password@tns > a
    yes you can call it forms use : f60run forms.fmx username/password@tns
    report : rwrun60c yourreportname.rdf username/password@tns destype=file desname=a.lis
    but always use HOST command inside the forms, also to send to the printer name that is configured to your server.
    host ('rwrun60c /dsk8/ciame/rcption/wagih/reportname xxx/xxxn@xxx batch=yes destype=file desname=$user_output/'||to_char(:blk1.office_emp_no)||'.lis tty_office_no='||to_char(:blk1.office_no)||' tty_emp_no='||to_char(:blk1.office_emp_no)||' tty_rcpt_no='||to_char(:blk2.rcpt_mst_receipt_no)||' tty_rpt_type=0;
    lp -d $lp01 -c $user_output/'||to_char(:blk1.office_emp_no)||'.lis',NO_PROMPT);
    and if you call another form then you can use open_form,call_form,,... inside the form. Be sure you add in the library your wroking folder.

  • Failure FRM-32029 while compiling Form with Forms Builder

    Hi.
    I have problem. I compile a form with Forms Builder from DevSuiteHome and get the failure:
    "FRM-32029 Window WINDOW not found; canvas-section CG$LOVCAN" (I translate it, it´s not the original terms).
    I google and search the forum and oracle page, but found nothing about this failure. In Forms-Builder itself is also nothing recorded about this problem.
    Do someone know more about this error?
    Thanks.

    Thanks inolau for answering.
    The problem is, that I don´t have a documentation about the sourcecode and these forms worked under from 6i to 9i upgraded Oracle AS and DB servers. So the problem is not only "where is the WINDOW", than more "why doesn´t works it under a new 10g version and how get it working?".
    That´s why I was searching for this not recorded error.
    And I´m worry about that searching for the part of the sourcecode where I found the "WINDOW" is like looking for a needle in a haystack. ;)

    Does anyone have an idea about how to start Forms Builder correctly?

    Hi,
    In KM Content goto /etc/xmlforms/km.appl.xmlforms.xfbuilder_core.jar and download the file to local files system.
    Now open the jar file with winrar/winzip and open META-INF folder, there you should find <b>SAPPortalsCertificate.SF</b> and <b>SAPPortalsCertificate.RSA</b> files.
    If these files exist in META-INF folder, then you jar is signed and if not unsigned. For security reasons classloader does not allow to open unsigned jars as some other jars in classpath are signed.
    So if these files not present in META-INF folder, then replace the corrupt km.appl.xmlforms.xfbuilder_core.jar file with file that works on some other server.

  • Form Builder in ADF

    Hi,
    is there any form builder available in ADF ?(open source preferably)
    I know Jdeveloper has the best form builder !!
    but, there may be cases we need to give users a tool to make their own (table , entity , view, form) and use simple CRUD operations.
    and what are the steps we need to take to make a form builder from scratch in ADF ?
    Shahab

    Hi,
    but in the project I'm currently working on,we do not have the possibility to determine all the entities at this point.
    For ADF BC you can dynamically create entities and view objects. This is best explained in the following book by Jobinesh Purushothaman
    Oracle ADF Real World Developer’s Guide
    Mastering essential tips and tricks for building next generation enterprise applications with Oracle ADF
    By Jobinesh Purushothaman
    ISBN 1849684820
    Released in October 2012
    The book also has an online appendix you want to download and look at
    this project is something that will never stop being extended ! and in future they may need to add some (simple) tables to DB.
    besides we don't want to Redeploy the application each time they have a change.
    In a later version of JDeveloper 12c there is a feature for remote task flows, which would help you with this as you can deploy task flows separate. Building artifacts dynamically to avoid re-deployment of the application comes with a price, which is complexity in managing what the application really is (e.g. for backup and source code control). So I am not sure if I would want to make dynamic creation of artifacts a general development paradigm (how do you QA test ne developments if they are done by the user?)
    so we need to give them something to generate their own ( table / entity / view / form ) and do just CRUD operation (no business will be applied on these type of forms, just CRUD!)
    In JDeveloper 12c, upcoming, you could use dynamic forms to allow users to perform CRUD operations on a view object. This way you could create the view object dynamically as per the user requirements (plus the entity for the cud part) and parametrize the binding layer to use that view object. See
    https://blogs.oracle.com/groundside/entry/towards_ultra_reusability_for_adf
    I think adaptive binding will meet your requirements. However, for adaptive bindings to build CRUD forms, you will have to wait for JDeveloper 12c and its dynamic form feature.
    as an example

  • A Dynamic Form Builder?

    I'm trying to avoid having to program a dynamic form builder
    from scratch for our CMS. I'm sure it's out there somewhere. Any
    leads?
    Thanks!
    Paul

    Yee I like reading other posts (is the best way to learn things sometimes), but also get afraid to make a new post :)
    I did what you (MLRon) and bsampieri told me, and I must say that was easy :) so thanks.
    I would just like an advice. (I am sorry to always compare with C# but I have using it latly and don't know how to explain myself). In C# you can create an attribute Tag on each method. This becomes like the Meta Data of the class from what I read. Now Is there anything like that in Java as well? Not actuall atributes, but meta data, or I would have to build that myself?
    I am asking the above because imagine the getText() method returns a string. A string graphic wise can be displayed either in a JTextField or a JTextArea (according to wether a multi line is wanted). The same goes for a boolean. It can be presented either by a check box, or else by two radio buttons.

  • Modifying form on unix server using Form Builder installed on Windows deskt

    We are using Oracle Applications hosed on unix servers. There is a custom form in XXX_TOP/forms/US folder that I need to modify. My Windows desktop has Forms Builder 10g installed. I ftpied fmb file over from unix server to my Windows desktop and tried opening it. I get an error FRM-18108: Failed to load the following objects: APPSTAND, etc etc. Obviously I am not doing it right. What is the correct way of modifying a form file sitting on unix server, using Forms Builder installed on Windows desktop? Do I need to copy all dependant objects to Windows desktop along with fmb file? Thank you in advance.

    You will also need all of the .plb and .fmb found in the AU_TOP/Resources, however, if you modify an Oracle provided Form you will loose all support from Oracle for that Form and anytime you apply an upgrade or patch, you will loose the changes if the upgrade/patch involves the modified form. There are only 2 approved ways to modify an Oracle supplied EBS form. First is by using the CUSTOM.PLL library and the second is by using Forms Personalization (FP). I strongly recommend you persue using the CUSTOM.pll or FP. If neither of these options will provide the functionality you need - CALL ORACLE SUPPORT before you modify any files.

  • Forms Builder - form not pulling the data from the DB into the datablock

    I'm working on a school project, and I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or if something is wrong with my setup.
    I created a basic form, 3 fields, and ID, firstname and lastname
    the wizard connected fine, pulled the three fields into forms builder
    I setup a canvas - type content with the a form format layout of the three fields.
    saved the form.
    When I run the form and it's displayed, nothing gets pulled into the fields (all blank).
    Shouldn't it pull at least the first row from the table?
    it says it's on record 1/1
    XP, Oracle 10g, Form builder 10.1.2,
    I'm not getting any errors
    I want to get this basic form working first, before I start adding to it, and it doesn't seem to want to cooperate.
    I've done the same steps as in the tutorials....

    I did find that, if I put data in the ID, first and lastname on the form, and click Execute & Save on the Menu, it does add it to the database.
    Maybe what I'm missing, is how do I get the form to read from the database when it starts up?

  • Can't run form from Form Builder 10g - Port configuration problem?

    Hi,
    I have installed the Database (10.2.0.1.0) and the Developer Suite (10.1.2.0.2) on two Linux machines (Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 4 Basic).
    If I enter the frmservlet-URL manually everything seems to be fine.
    In one case I enter http://127.0.0.1:8890/forms/frmservlet, in the other http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet; in BOTH cases I get eventually a dark square and the status bar says "Applet oracle.forms.engine.Main started".
    HOWEVER, if I create a simple form with Form Builder and click on the Button with the green traffic light ("Run Form"), the form runs only on the machine where frmservlet listens on port 8890.
    On the other machine (frmservlet configured to listen on port 8889) Firefox pops up, the URL "http://127.0.0.1:32979/6dOrpwghCqnp8PhMT7KVT533m3IaArqFbPqPBOztZXWYSsNy" gets called, and nothing else happens. The screen displays the string "ORACLE FORMS." and the status bar says "Waiting for 127.0.0.1...", and it stays like this forever.
    I assume this is a port configuration problem, but I don't have a clue where to start.
    Any suggestions how I should proceed are greatly appreciated.
    Thank you very much in advance!

    Hi Frank,
    Thank you for your reply.
    I doublechecked my configuration.
    In the dialog Edit --> Preferences --> Runtime the Application Server URL is set to "127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet".
    However, when I attempt to run the form, the URL "http://127.0.0.1:33140/W2dwbV9eXS2fPkuKlxNhCxFWdEihwDviat2uV7ycrSotqwDN" gets called.
    The screen displays the string "ORACLE FORMS." and the status bar says "Waiting for 127.0.0.1...", and that's it.
    I wonder how the port number 33140 got selected. Interestingly, this time it is a different number; last time it was port 32979. In fact, the port number seems to change each time; I tried again and now it is 33189.
    I will now try to set the port number for the frmservlet to 8890.
    I choose Edit --> Preferences --> Runtime and set the application server URL to "127.0.0.1:8890/forms/frmservlet".
    I stop the container, open /home/oracle/OraHome_1/j2ee/DevSuite/config/default-web-site.xml and change the port number to 8890:
    <?xml version="1.0" standalone='yes'?>
    <!DOCTYPE web-site PUBLIC "Oracle Application Server 10g XML Web-site" "http://xmlns.oracle.com/ias/dtds/web-site.dtd">
    <!-- change the host name below to your own host name. Localhost will -->
    <!-- not work with clustering -->
    <!-- also add cluster-island attribute as below
    <web-site host="localhost" port="0" protocol="ajp13"
    display-name="Default Oracle Application Server 10g Java WebSite" cluster-island="1" >
    -->
    <web-site port="8890" protocol="http"
    display-name="Oracle Developer Suite 10g instance of Oracle Containers for J2EE Web Site">
    <!-- Uncomment the following line when using clustering -->
         <!-- <frontend host="your_host_name" port="80" /> -->
         <!-- The default web-app for this site, bound to the root -->
         <default-web-app application="default" name="defaultWebApp" root="/j2ee" />
    <!-- Do not delete this line. -->
    <web-app application="forms" name="formsweb" root="/forms" />
    <!-- -->
    <!-- <web-app application="forms" name="formsweb" root="/forms" /> -->
    <web-app application ="reports" name="web" root="/reports" />
    <web-app application = "reports" name="demo" root="/repdemo" />
         <!-- Access Log, where requests are logged to -->
         <access-log path="../log/default-web-access.log" />
    </web-site>
    I restart the container, start Form Builder, connect to the database, and open my test form.
    When attempting to run the form, the URL "http://127.0.0.1:33437/Pl0n3ky9vmU5z37A7ScBnQhsGwq3jwuzJpgTAKWPMOYIzT8K" gets called (again a new port number, apparently picked radomly within a certain range) and nothing happens: "Waiting for 127.0.0.1...".
    However, when I enter the URL http://127.0.0.1:8890/forms/frmservlet I do (eventually, after confirming that I trust the certificate etc.) get a darc rectangle and the status message "Applet oracle.forms.engine.Main started", which tells me that my setup can't be that far off target.

  • How to insert special character from Oracle form builder 10g

    Dear all,
    I need help. how to insert special character like 'Superscript or Subscript ' from oracle form builder 10g. I had try in Oracle form builder 6i with press ALT+ASCII code in the text item and it work, but in the oracle form builder 10g this method doesn't work... would you like to help me...somebody please...
    Best Regard,
    Dedy P.T.

    What do you mean by insert ... from Forms Builder? Do you mean you want to add it as text in a string of pl/sql code or as part of boiler plate text (label) or a value on the Property Palette?
    For special characters you would need set NLS_LANG to something that would support the characters you want to use. For the Builder to see the change, you would need to set NLS_LANG to something like:
    NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8
    This can be done in the Windows Registry or system. As I mentioned, this will only apply to the Builder and will have nothing to do with a running form. For running forms you would need to set this in default.env. As for things like super and sub scripts, these are font formats and not necessarily characters. For the most part, I don't believe these are supported in Forms.

  • XML Form Builder-How to access data saved from a form?

    Hi All,
    I created a form in XML Form Builder. This form include checkboxes and input fields.
    Also i include a Save button.
    I used this form in a iView.
    Many users will access this iView and save their input data.
    So, after the user Save this data, in the KM folder , is created a XML form where i can see the inputed data.
    So for every user's Save is created a XML form .
    The question is,
    how can i collect all these data for each created XML form, so as i can process them?
    Please i will appreciate if anybody has any documentation or can give me step-by step instruction .
    I am new in EP  .
    Regards
    Ari

    Hello Avinash,
    You can directly use query in form personalization Conditions like
    select date_probation_end from per_assignments_x where person_id = :PERIOD_OF_SERVICE.PERSON_ID
    and put in your condition like if you want to validate Probation end date is less then sysdate then in condition put in like.
    TRUNC(SYSDATE) < (select TRUNC(date_probation_end) from per_assignments_x where person_id = :PERIOD_OF_SERVICE.PERSON_ID)
    set the error message.

  • Oracle forms builder - windows or unix?

    Until recently we've been developing on Forms Builder 6i on our Sun/Solaris box. Now however, we want to move to developing using Forms 10g. We've already recompiled all our forms on the unix box, which has Application Server 10g and an 11g database. Do we stick to using the version of Form Builder on the unix box, or go with the Windows forms? I'm not keen on the unix version, never have been - it's rather clunky, but all our forms/libraries source code is on the server. What do people generally use? I've been ftp-ing files but this is no good longer term - is it best to go with a samba share?

    Thanks Tony,
    Yes we do still want to deploy on unix. Up until now we've been using unix source control to book modules in and out, as well as using the unix version of form builder. We don't have any other source control software so we'd still need to book in and out on unix. I'd still like to use the Windows forms builder, but we'd prefer to avoid having multiple copies of the source code on windows.

  • Form Compiles in Forms Builder but not Unix?

    I have a form that compiles fine in Forms Builder (Version 6.0.8.11.3). When trying to compile the form on a Solaris Middleware Server it fails and gives several errors similar to the following:

    I realize that these same errors in Forms Builder if I have not connected to the database (Version 9.2.0.4.0) before compiling so I'm guessing that there is some environment variable set incorrectly on the middleware server. I'm quite new to Unix and am not sure what variables I should be looking at...any thoughts?
