Forms Migration in Planning.

Hi Gurus,
In Hyperion (v 11.1.1.1) Planning application, is there any automated or simple process to move the forms from one environments to other. Our developers create the forms in development environment so we just need to move these new forms and dont want move the complete application.
Please let me know if I can use LCM for that.
Thanks
-Samar-

Yes you can either use LCM, which can be automated executed through HSS or by command line :- http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/epm_lifecycle_management/ch06.htm
Or you can use the FormDefUtil to export/import forms :- http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/hp_admin/ch06s15.html
By the way your stats are worrying
Total questions 171 (111 unresolved)
111 unresolved surely not.
It doesn't take much to appreciate the free help given by people and award points on the forum.
Cheers

  • Migration of planning from essbase side

    Hi,
    Planning Migration have:
    1) migration of provisioning (CSSImportExport utility)
    2) migration of planning application (using schema restore on dummy application) (data form, outline, task list, etc....)
    3) migration of essbase objects for planning application (like business rule export/import, data export/import)
    I am not sure which option should i use for moving calc script, report script, load rules, configuration file -.cfg, substitution variable, data cache settings etc)
    should i use file copy to move file?
    should i use migration utility inside EAS to move these information?
    does the order of migration is correct 1, 2 and then 3.
    Version 9.3.1 to 9.3.1
    Please help.

    Hi John,
    Thanks for the help.
    you mean to say copy file for calc script, report script, load rules.- which is OK for me.
    what about configuration file -.cfg, substitution variable, data cache settings etc ?
    what would be recommended for substitution variable, data cache settings, configuration file -cfg, etc)

  • Steps to migrate Hyperion Planning application from 9.2.0 to new 9.3.1 env

    We currently have 9.2.0 Hyperion planning installed in a windows env. We are planning to setup a new Hyperion planning env on a totally new hardware upgraded env. Would be appreciate if some can outline steps invloved to migrate Hyperion Planning apps, forms, BR ect from 9.2.0 to the newly setip 9.3.1 env. Is there any documentation, URL's to do the above. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any issue to look out for, setbacks details would be helpful.
    Thanks..

    Hi,
    One way of doing it would be :-
    Create a new database for your planning application 9.3.1
    Create a datasource to the database
    Create a fresh planning application on version 9.3.1 make sure the admin is the same name as your old 9.2 planning app
    Go into the database tables for the planning app and look at table HSP_USERS, store the SID value against user 50001
    Go into the database planning system tables and HSPSYS_APPLICATION, clear out the version field for the application you have created
    Stop Planning
    Restore the 9.2 planning application database over the one created in the first step
    Go into the HSP_USERS table and update the SID for user id 50001
    Start planning
    Go to planning web and you should see your application when you try and log in it should take you to a migrate screen.
    If you are requiring to migrate users as well, you will have to make sure you create them in Shared Services and then use the updateusers utility in the planning bin directory.
    Or you could try using the copy app utility though I don't believe it is the best utility about and not sure how it handles between different versions(http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_hp_admin/ch09s01.html)

  • LCM - form migration

    Hello,
    We're migrating to 11.1.2.2 and facing some difficulties migrating forms trough LCM.
    First time import of a forms folder in the application went fine.
    The second time, we added more .xml form files in the File System to the same folder (and listing file). HSS 'sees' those files, we execute the migration to the planning application which goes without error, but there is no change in the application.
    Then I've deleted the forms and the folder in the application (deleting the folder is a story of its own) and remigrated the forms. The result is - the folder is recreated and the forms imported - but only the ones initially imported.
    Has anyone had similar issues, are we missing something or is it another planning 'issue'?
    Thanks!

    So you are trying to hack the LCM :)
    It works fine on 11.1.2.2 (not sure what is your version)
    I took a copy of Tax Rate.xml file and created a new one Tax Rates New.xml (changed the xml to reflect the new form name)
    <form xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" name="Tax Rate New" dir="Forms/Workforce" enableOffline="false" planType="WF" hide="false" enableCubeView="false" readOnly="false" >Added that one in the listing.xml file
    <resource name="Tax Rates" id="Tax Rates" type="Data Form" size="-1" path="/Plan Type/Wrkforce/Data Forms/Workforce" pathAlias="/Plan Type/Wrkforce/Data Forms/Workforce" modifiedBy="admin" lastUpdated="1367258138000" description="" />
    <resource name="Tax Rates New" id="Tax Rates New" type="Data Form" size="-1" path="/Plan Type/Wrkforce/Data Forms/Workforce" pathAlias="/Plan Type/Wrkforce/Data Forms/Workforce" modifiedBy="admin" lastUpdated="1367258138000" description="" />Import back to Planning and it works. What are those xml file that dropped into the file directory? Are they created on same version? Is there a form with the same name?

  • Issue in migration of Planning artifacts through LCM

    Hi,
    I am trying to migrate EPMA planning application from development server to production server. I am using LCM for the migration and have taken export of the HSS, EPMA, Planning and FR & WA artifacts. I am now importing these artifacts in to production server, however I can not proceed with migration of Planning artifacts through Migration Wizard as I got stuck on the "Destination" step where I got message as "There is no destination available to migrate".
    Please guide me on this...
    Thanks & Regards,
    AK

    Hi John,
    Please refer to my comments to reply:
    Break down the migration into product areas first, start with HSS and then migrate, then move on to planning and HSS, this should narrow down where the issue is
    That is what I am doing - I am migrating the artifacts separately i.e. I migrated the HSS first then migrated EPMA Architectue and at last I tried migrating the Planning artifacts during which I got stuck with selection of "Destination" for Planning artifacts.
    +"The planning applications need to exist first on your target environment."+
    For this I need to create a planning application manually before migrating, and since my planning application is EPMA enabled application and not a classic application I guess I should not create a planning application manually before starting migration. Please guide me on how can I ensure that planning application exist before migrating the same on to target environment
    Thanks & Regards,
    AK

  • Forms Migration Assistant

    Hello
    I am using Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2 and I want to migrate some forms from Forms 6i to Forms10g.
    I edited the search_replace.properties file in order to change the TEXT_IO calls to CLIENT_TEXT_IO, however after i ran the forms migration assistant, the forms are not changing.
    I have the following line in my search_replace.properties file:
    Replace24=TEXT_IO|CLIENT_TEXT_IO
    What is the correct way to use the search_replace.properties file ?
    Thanks!
    Ramiro Ortiz

    You actually need to list all the TEXT_IO commands that are being used on separate lines, such as:
    Replace24=TEXT_IO.FOPEN|CLIENT_TEXT_IO.FOPEN
    Replace25=TEXT_IO.FILE_TYPE|CLIENT_TEXT_IO.FILE_TYPE
    Replace26=TEXT_IO.PUT|CLIENT_TEXT_IO.PUT
    Replace27=TEXT_IO.NEW_LINE|CLIENT_TEXT_IO.NEW_LINE
    Replace28=TEXT_IO.FCLOSE|CLIENT_TEXT_IO.FCLOSE

  • Forms Migration Assistant - Forms Path?

    Hi,
    I'm hoping somebody can help me. I'm attempting to use the Forms Migration Assistant and I'm having problems getting it to recognise attached libraries etc. Is there some sort of path that I can set to tell it where to look? I'm using 10gR2 developer suite and I'm using the assistant in wizard mode. I have tried setting the forms path in the registry and in the default.env file but this doesn't seem to make any difference. The only time I have had this working is if I modify the shortcut to the assistant to "Start in" the same folder as all of the libraries and forms which is less than ideal for our situation.
    Thanks in advance.

    For anybody else that comes across this problem. Apparently, the regular forms_path should be picked up by the migration assistant however there is a bug with the GUI version of the tool that prevents this from happening. If you use the command line version then apparently the tool works fine.
    However, if like me you intend to use the GUI version you can manually edit the frmplsqlconv.bat file to include your forms_path. There is a metalink note about this, the doc id is 454053.1

  • Forms Migration Assistant Usage

    Hi all,
    I am not able to understand the clear usage of Forms Migration Assistant yet.
    I have seen in Forums that Forms 6i applications can be migrated to 11g just by recompiling the forms and running it on 11g.
    If this is the case , whats the clear usage of Forms Migration Assistant?
    Is it meant to be used for some complex Forms built on 6i or 9i ?
    When do we use migration assistant instead of just recompiling the forms and running it on 11g ?
    Can anyone help me out ?
    Thanks,
    Ram

    It does some changes; for example when you have calls to run_product for reports this get's replaced by rp2rro.run_product, the rp2rro library is attached and the reports object is added to the form. You also get notified if you have calls to get_file_name in your form as this built in is deprecated.
    cheers

But when i try to install FMA downloaded from here the installer says that the Oracle Home does not have Oracle Forms 9i installed altough it was shown in installed products. • Forms Migration to 11g, RUN_PRODUCT must be declared

    Hi All,
    I'm performing forms migration from 10g to 11g,
    I used Forms Migration Assistant to Migrate forms, But if a form is calling reports then those forms are
    not getting compiled and giving the error RUN_PRODUCT must be declared. I know that RUN_PRODUCT
    is not supported in 11g, but is there any way to configure Forms Migration Assistant so that it replaces this
    code with appropriate code. Forms Migration Assistant program asks for Report server name, Servlet Virtual Directory information for the forms that are calling reports. I don't know what to specify in virtual directory field
    and report servlet field.
    Please help me with this.
    Thanks

    You are replying to an old thread, but it looks like you didn't read it properly. It is stated that
    when migrating from 6i to 10g we have used the wizard to replace RUN_PRODUCT with rp2rro.rp2rro_run_product (rp2rro.pll).So, you also need to use rp2rro.pll if you still want to make use of RUN_PRODUCT. Even in 10g RUN_PRODUCT by itself won't work. As Christian already said:
    you probably could simply remove the call to run_product as in 10g the built-in was available but simply didn't do anything. Did you try that yet?

  • Copy and paste cell content of web form of Hyperion Planning

    Our end users encountered performance issues in using the web forms of Hyperion Planning. We have some large web form with 60 columns and 100 rows i.e. around 6000 cells. When end user move around the cell they feel a slow response in the web form especially when copy and paste some cell content from one row to another, or a few cells from one position to other position.
    Anyone got similar experience in using web form? Also we understand that Hyperion design will check the cell content of each cell and generate a SQL query to the backend metadata database. It is quite time consuming and waste CPU resource because most of the time our end user will not keep the text information under each cell. We have consulted Oracle team and understand that we cannot disable the cell content checking via SQL query.
    Any workaround solution exists to reduce or remove the performance issue in cell content copy and paste?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    We had faced the same issue a few years ago. One of our geeks had done a change in either Enterdata.js or Enterdata.jsp which disabled form cell validation. I don't currently have the code with me but it wasn't a big change really, remarking a function could be doing the trick.
    I don't think this is officially recommended by Oracle though.
    AlpThanks for your advice. We will try to locate the enterdata.jsp and enterdata.js and found out where the SQL being executed.We found out the Enterdata.js under the deployment directory of Weblogic. However it is over 400KB size and many many lines of codes. We think that it is very difficult to locate where should be customized to remove the SQL checking on cell content.

  • LCM Migration of planning application

    Hi All
    I am trying to migrate Hyperion Planning Application from one environment to another. The name of the application in both the environment is different i.e. X & Y.
    I took an LCM export of application X into the file system and copied the directory generated into the system where application Y resides.
    Now I am planning to import this export into application Y.
    Do i need to perform some changes as the server IPs are different & name of the applications are also different
    Hyperion Planning Version 11.1.1.3
    Regards

    Do i need to perform some changes as the server IPs are different & name of the applications are also differentNo. You just need to login to Shared Services (Y), select the artifacts you exported from X and execute the migration. I've always thought Ranzal had a perfect blog post on LCM. No, I don't work for them :)

  • Formatting header rows in data form in hyperion planning

    Hello Friends,
    I want to format header rows in data form in hyperion planning (formatting like Bold, Italic etc...) Is there any way to do that?

    I could be wrong. That's why i thought i should post this one.
    This is from 11.1.2.2.300 readme
    Customizing the Style of Header Cells in Forms
    Applying a bold style to all forms
    1.  From HyperionPlanning.war\custom, open HspCustom.css and insert this class code:
    customheaderStyle
    Font-family:<font>;
    Font-size:<size>;
    Font-weight:bold;
    For example, to use bolded garamond 14 as the style for header cells you would specify:
    customheaderStyle
    Font-family:garamond;
    Font-size:14;
    Font-weight:bold;
    You can also change the font and the font size in the same portion of code.
    Perform the tasks in "Registering Customized Skins in Applications".
    Applying a bold style to one form
    Determine the ID of the form to customize by running this query in which ‘<FORM_NAME’ is the name of the form:
    Select object_id AS FORM_ID,object_name AS FORM_NAME from hsp_object
    where object_name like ‘<FORM_NAME>’
    For example, to modify a form called "1.30 Per Payor – Metrics”, you would run this query:
    Select object_id AS FORM_ID,object_name AS FORM_NAME from hsp_object where object_name like "1.30 Per Payor-Metrics"
    When the ID is returned, create a css class in HspCustom.css using the following format.  HspCustom.css is in HyperionPlanning.war\custom.
    “customheaderStyle_<FORM_ID>”
    Set font-weight in .customheaderStyle as bold as shown below. You can also change the font and the font size in the same portion of code.
    customheaderStyle
    Font-family:<font>;
    Font-size:<size>;
    Font-weight:bold;
    To use different styles on individual forms, create a css class for each form.
    so there is a way to create custom headers

    Rahul,
    As John pointed out, copyapp may be available between different versions of planning but is not compatible between different versions of the software. When a copyapp command runs, it connects to shared services, planning and essbase data sources and basically performs an export and import of data. It works on the premise that structure for export is same as structure for import. However, the underlying architecture for shared services (moving away from openldap) and planning tables, essbase (security outside .sec file) has changed and there you cannot just export and import between different versions of software.

         1. Oracle 4.5-->6i-->10g, In this what are benefits of migrating into intermediate version.Oracle's migration path is 4.5, 6i, 10g it is more logical to migrate using this path and it is recommended by Oracle, the obsolete built-ins would be pointed out at compilation and fixes would be more automated and simple since Forms 6i was designed to accept migration from 4.5 and the internal design of the forms will be much more adaptable to later releases.
         2. if we migrating into intermediate version 6i, do we need to fix all the errors before moving to 6i.It would be better and easier to fix things in Forms 6i rather than 10g, you can leave them and than you'll have to fix them under 10g.
         3. if no, do we lose any functionlity while migrating to 10g.Functionality built on obsolete built-ins and commands will be lost, you are more likely to face bugs.
         4. Does Oracle support direct migration to 10g?Oracle's official migration path is 4.5 to 6i to 10g
         5. if we open oracle 4.5 form in 10g form builder, do we lose any functionality? do we need to lot manual replacement?It all depends on your application size and features. I suggest you migrate to Forms 6i first and than to 10g although you can do it directly to 10g since Forms 6i is no longer supported.
    I personally rather follow the recommended path and use Oracle support in 10g migration.
