Forms services, JINitiator, Webutil and scripting
Hi all,
We build a forms / reports based application that runs on Oracle Application Server 10g. The application uses Webutil.
The first time the application is started from a desktop there is a download / install procedure that comprises the following three products / file types :
1. JINitiator is downloaded / installed (1.3.1.18 in this case)
2. JAR files are downloaded and stored in the JAR cache
3. The DLL's JACOB, D2kWUT60 and JNIsharedstubs are downloaded and stored in one of the JInitiator install directories.
Once that is done, the application runs fine, time and time again without any additional downloads/installes.
One of our clients would like to package/script (MSI) the before mentioned steps so there will be no user interaction and/or security issues. My knowledge of this process is limited. Are there any experienced people about that can shine a light on this subject please ?
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Regards
Gerrit Breebaart
I've successfully created an MSI for Jinitator in my current project and I've seen it done on other projects. There is no step by step procedure as each project has it's own requirements / standards.
It should be pretty simple if you have a basic knowledge of Windows Installer technology. The only tricky bit will be triggering the install-on-demand functionality and getting the application to self repair for each user that logs on as Jinitiator has no advertised shortcuts.
If you can specify the exact problem that you are getting I'd be happy to advise.

Configure Forms Service on 10G and test a form
Hello,
I have installed a standalone 10G APP SERVER.
How can I configure a Form Service on this?
How can I test a Form running on the 10G APP Server.?
Any pointers as to how to configure a Forms Service thru
the Application Service control menu (http://localhost:1810)
and then trying a form ?Mona,
You were suppose to check the document Oracle Application Server Forms Services - Deployment Guide as suggested in Deploying an Oracle Form on 10G AS.
Please do! All your answers are in that document.

Linux Startup script for Forms Services 11g with Weblogic
Hi,
Does anybody know where I can find info about the startup script process for Forms Service 11g under linux? I can't find it googling it... I think I have to startup weblogic first... isnt it ? or opmnctl works alone ?
In 10g we just need to set env vars and then "opmnctl startall" and if we need enterprise manager "emctl start iasconsole" ... what about on 11g?
Regards
RicardoYou can start directly the WLS_FORMS without starting the Admin and Node manager ..
I think if you go through this link , you will get more information ..

Oracle Forms Server Service cannot start by scripts (windows2k)
We have a Portal & Application Server installed (Forms&Reports 6i).
Server is Windows2000.
I have to start Oracle Forms Server service by scripts, when i manually start the process by pressing start or stop, it works & asks for nothing.
but when i write a script to stop & start oracle forms server , it stops by script.
but it fails to start & says FRM-60009 : ifsvr60 correct usage : -install [service name] exc..... so service doesnt start but when i go to services & start it manually by presing start , it starts. I dont want to install a new service just stop & start the engine.
How can i start the forms server service by a script ? (any of known commands or a way to Oracle forms server service to start by scripts ?)
Thx for Help..Hi
Have you checked that the rpd file still exists in the Repository folder? Did you leave it in a consistent state? assuming the paint.rpd is still there, double click it and see if you can open it, if so run a consistency check.

Java from cmd and Java called from Forms Services
I apologize in advance if this is not place where i did must question.
Anyway this is:
From cmd on win xp If I run java -version I get:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>java -version
java version "1.4.2_06"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_06-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_06-b03, mixed mode)
While i installed JVM 1.6 and this is called from my forms services(OC4J)
What I missing?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my question*%JAVA_HOME\bin%* isn't the correct way to add the reference to the JAVA_HOME variable. You want *%JAVA_HOME%\bin*, notice the closing % sign comes after the name of the variable you created earlier (*JAVA_HOME*) and that causes its value to be prepended to \bin.

Hi,
I'm currently converting a forms 6.0 application to forms 10g. My application has the file upload and download functionality. I researched the webutil 9i beta version, but my infrastructure team would not allow this to be installed in the 10g app server production environment because it's not supported.
I looked into the OC4J fileupload and filedownload javabean that comes with the oracle 10g iDS installation. Is webutil built on these javabeans?
What are other alternatives I could use that I don't know about? Please help.
Last question, when will webutil released to production? I desparately need this utility since I don't know too much about JavaBean coding and tie to forms.
Thanks,
JenniferHi,
the problem is that Forms Developer tries to acces steh bean, which requires ojsputil.jar to be set in the Forms90_Builder_Classpath. However, even then it wont work because the oracle.jsp.webutil.fileaccess class doesn't implement the IView interface or extends teh VBean class. You could use it with the FBean package which works with Beans that don't implement the Forms interfaces. However, the oracle.jsp.webutil.fileaccess class seems to be a JSP class which doesn't work at all in Forms.
The best way to approach bean development for Forms is to read this whitepaper
http://otn.oracle.com/products/forms/pdf/forms_in_java_world.pdf
and then install the Forms 10g demos and look at the source code. We do our best to comment the demo source so that you know what the code does.

Diff in IAS 9i Form Service Version and Developer 6i Rel 2. Version
Dear all,
I have noticed that Form Server version which comes with the Oracle 9i Application Server (Forms Service Module) is higher than then Oracle Developer 6i Tool Rel. 2 Form Complier version.
It Creates a problem, Form which is complied in Developer 6i Rel 2. gives blazzing result when it deployed it on Oracle 9i Form Server because of the version diff.
Oracle 9i Form Server Version is always higher than Forms Compiler comes with the latest Developer 6i Rel. 2.
Because of this reason we cannot install Developer 6i Rel. 2 and
Oracle 9i Application Server with Form Service on the same machine.
How to solve this.
Best Regards,
Darshan DesaiIf you look in metalink, you can get patches for Forms 6i to patch it up to higher levels than rel 2. Any patch from 4 through to 9 will be newer. Choose which patch you want to bring yourself in line with 9iAS. The patch documentation tells you what version it will bring the forms up to.
Each patch superceeds the last so just pick one and apply it.

Please let me know how to do the PO for item of service Level short and long text using sap script.

In the transaction related to PO select the path goto->header texts and then details of the texts like ID,objectname,language,name.Pass all theses details to 'READ_TEXT ' FM. Then you will get text lines described for a perticular Po ,similarly for item also.

InfoPath Forms Services and c2wts
Hi
Does/Can InfoPath Form Services use c2wts or not? I seem to find conflicting information.
Setup:
Single server with SharePoint 2013 and SQL Server 2012.
InfoPath form which calls a custom web service that is also on the same machine. The web service only receives the application pool identity. SSRS seems to work fine within SharePoint, so InfoPath seems not to use c2wts. I also assume because it is a single
machine kerberos does not need to be setup?
Specifying a SSO in the udcx works around the issue, but it isn't a viable solution.
ThanksSee http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/sharepoint-online-service-description.aspx. You need an E3 or E4 license to use IFS.

Oracle DB server and Reports&Forms Services - in separate homes
Hi
I have manaed to installe Oracle DB server (10g) in home1 and reports & forms services (together with Developer suite, 9.0.4) in home2 - can I work normally with that installation/configuration. What is normal practice?can I work normally with that installation/configurationIt depends on what normally means. If your machine is a test/development one (Developer suite), then I don't see problems. On a production environment it would be better to have separate machines, unless the machine is a big one, with a possibly small number of users. I have a customer with a W2000 production server running both DB and Application server (complete version), but he has 10-15 users and the machine has 2 CPU 3GHz and 5Gb RAM.

hi,,
will u tell what is the difference between smart forms and scripts.hI
Sapscripts are client dependend and smartforms are client independet.
SAPscript are CLient Dependent, SmartForms are Client Independent. The reason why SmartForms are client independent is because when you activate a SMartForm, SAP actually generates a Function Module (which as you know is client independent). The Print Program (or as SAP likes to refer to them these days - Application Program) calls your generated FM.
In the "smartforms" transaction, when you are viewing a smartform, you can go to the Environment->Function Module Name menu path to see the FM name.
Look at the "Application Program" for the Invoice SmartForm (RLB_INVOICE):
determine smartform function module for invoice
CALL FUNCTION 'SSF_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME'
EXPORTING formname = lf_formname
variant = ' '
direct_call = ' '
IMPORTING fm_name = lf_fm_name
EXCEPTIONS no_form = 1
no_function_module = 2
OTHERS = 3.
call smartform invoice
CALL FUNCTION lf_fm_name
EXPORTING
archive_index = toa_dara
archive_parameters = arc_params
control_parameters = ls_control_param
mail_appl_obj =
mail_recipient = ls_recipient
mail_sender = ls_sender
output_options = ls_composer_param
user_settings = space
is_bil_invoice = ls_bil_invoice
is_nast = nast
is_repeat = repeat
importing document_output_info =
job_output_info =
job_output_options =
EXCEPTIONS formatting_error = 1

<b>Difference with SMARTFORMS vs. SapScript (SE71)</b>
The Following are the differences :-
a) Multiple page formats are possible in smartforms which is not the case in SAPScripts
b) It is possible to have a smartform without a main window .
c) Labels cannot be created in smartforms.
d) Routines can be written in smartforms tool.
e) Smartforms generates a function module when activated.
Contributed by : SAP ABAP/4 Programming, Basis Administration, Configuration Hints and Tips
f) Unlike sapscripts (RSTXSCRP), you cannot upload/download Smartform to your local harddisk.
It was said that it was provided in CRM 3.0 version, but not available in R/3. You can download smartforms into Local PC in a XML format. In the same way you can upload this XML format into Smartform. From the smartform editor itself you can call download option, if you are working in CRM 3.0 environment.
In R3 also, you can download into XML format. However, it's not sure about uploading. Refer to the program 'SF_XSF_DEMO'.
In 4.7 Enterprise, other have seen this utlity which is completey missing in 4.6c. There is functionality to downlaod a complete form or only a particular node. (Utilities -> Download form). It will create a XML file and save it in the hard disk.
For others, if you want to download/upload the Smartforms source, you will need the help from the Basis people. What you can do is to create a Transport and then FTP down to your local harddisk. When you need the Smartform source in another system, you have FTP up the Smartforms file back to the SAP server. Finally, the Basis team, will tp it into your system.
g) The protect and endprotect command in sapscript doesn't work with smartforms. For example on a invoice: First data of position no 80. is printed on page one, other data of position no 80 is printed on page 2. And there's nothing you can do about it. Actually, there is something you can do about it. By using a folder node and checking the 'protect' checkbox, everything in that folder will be page protected.
i) The main difference is that SAP script is client-dependant, while smartform is independent. Also there are some advanced and intreractive features available in smartforms.
You can use an External subroutine-call in sapscript editor like:
/: perform <form_name> in program <program_name>
/: using <var1>
/: using <var2>
/: changing <return1>
/: changing <return2>
/:endperform
