Forte doesn't recognize classes are compiled

In the Sun One Studio 4 Update 1 IDE, my Java source files are displayed in the Explorer window with the uncompiled badge icons next to them, even though the classes are already compiled. If I select a file to compile it, the IDE will compile it, and put the compiled class in the target directory correctly. But the uncompiled icon is still displayed. If I select the file again and compile, the IDE compiles it again, instead of giving me the message that the file is up to date.
Has anyone seen this problem?

Add the output dir to classpath.Did you ever use forte? It doesn't recognize classpath. It looks at the mounted directories and jars instead. And I do have the output dir mounted - otherwise, the compiler couldn't put the compiled classes in the right place.

I think this is the better forum than java compiler. The answer to the question you asked is no.
But that question is not the best way to address your problem.
If this were me, I'd use a tool like ASM (http://asm.objectweb.org/) to read in that file, and replace the getToday() method, with one like this
long getToday() {
return 20080101;
}and replace the class file with this new one. (keep the old one, they might be using a class loader that verifies class signatures or something)
(They said the code you are looking at could have been changed by you - so take the hint and change it back).
If they've ripped you off, this will restore justice much more cheaply and effectively than involving the lawyers. If they then sue you for breaching the license agreement, that would probably force them to disclose their underhand tactics.
OTOH, if you're lying to us about the purchase, and needing to pay for upgrades to fix the performance issue, and instead are trying to crack some trial software, then I hope they are using a custom class loader that checks the integrity of the classes.
If you are being ripped off, why are you not telling us the name of the company? I am not sure who is being ripped off here.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Does Java load a class in caché ? New compiled class are not used .

I run my application (using java.exe + 'my class').
One 'Mybutton' launch a new class Frame based, with one button on it. I see this Frame and close it.Ok.
Now a put a new button in this Frame ( I have 2 buttons then), I save it (and Eclipse compile it).
If a do click on 'Mybutton' I see the old Frame (with one button) not the new Frame with 2 buttons.
What happens ? Is there something like cache class loader? How to avoid this?
My intention is to try to test the changes inmediatly, but in this situation I must to close Myapp and re-run it ?

Java classes are loaded by an Object called a ClassLoader. Each classloader permanently caches all the classes it loads, and always uses an already loaded class in preference to loading a new one.
When a program starts there's already a ClassLoader, the one that loaded your main class. It loads classes from the class path. It exists all the time the program is running.
You can create your own classloaders in the program and if you load your changeable class through one then then you can get a new version by creating a new classloader.
Typically you create an instance of URLClassLoader.
However you need to know that classloaders "delegate" loadClass requests before loading the class themselves, which means that if the class you request is on the class path, your URLClassLoader will get the system class loader to load it and it won't work. You need a special directory (typically called a repsitory) for classes you wish to load multiple versions of.

My derived class suddenly doesn't recognize the parent class

I had my assignment coded, debugged, working and ready to go. So I bring my flash drive upstairs to play around with it on my other computer. When I compile the base class it compiles fine, but now when I try to compile the derived class, and the test class with the main method, I'm coming up with errors.
They have something to do with the base class not being recognized, because I can't instantiate any objects of the class now, and i get an error when attempting to compile the derived class to the effect of "cannot find symbol; symbol: class BaseClass". i get this error throughout the derived class, from the initial declaration of the class (public class DerivedClass extends BaseClass), to any references made toward methods of the parent class.
My base class compiles with no problem, but it's like nothing else is able to "use" it. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the PC im using now, and I can't confirm this at the moment because the PC I used to write the code is down (waiting on an upgrade).

It's not the fault of the computer hardware.
It's not the fault of the operating system.
It's not the fault of the JDK.
So don't go rebooting or reinstalling anything. The problem is that you didn't set up things on the new computer in the same way they were set up on the old computer.
In particular the compiling problem is that the compiled version of BaseClass isn't in the classpath when you try to compile DerivedClass. I can't tell why from your description.

Tecra M4 - DVD drive doesn't recognize any disk under Vista

after the installation of Vista my dvd drive doesn't recognize any disks !
No upgrade from XP! It was a clean Vista installation.
I found several links about the registry entries upper and lower filter this entries doesn't exist in my registry under the class CDROM.
I tested the drive under XP it works fine and recognizes everything.
Drivers are correctly installed no problems in the device manager is prompted.
So i have no idea how to get it working, seems to be a Vista problem
Could any one help me ? I'm really frustrated about this

- Remove the CD/DVD drive from the device manager.
- Then access the registry and remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
- Then reboot the notebook

While a partition is waiting for a reply from a database, it blocks and
won't respond
to anything, including pings to check if it's still alive. So, if the query
takes longer to
complete than the time-out period of the communication manager, then you
will
loose the connection to the partition.

This sounds almost identical to a problem we have experienced.
If it is the same problem it is because you have compiled a back-end
load-balanced partition, but NOT the router that manages it.
With such a configuration, attempts to send greater than a few thousand
rows
will fail - and it doesn't seem to matter what you set -fm to.
You don't see the problem running distributed from your workspace because
everything is interpreted.
So just compile the router and try again.

Forte and MIDlet - how do you keep Forte from seeing J2SE classes?

I am developing MIDlets with Forte; I have created a new MIDlet within a MIDlet suite, using the HelloWorld template.
However Forte lets me use any old class in my code, not just the MIDP classes. For example, if I write a
Float f = new Float();
line in my code, Forte will compile without batting an eyelid, even though there is no Float class in MIDP.
How can I keep Forte from accepting the use of J2SE classes when compiling MIDlets?

OK, fixed - here's what I did:
- I went to Project/Settings/Compiler Types and I moved the J2ME Wireless Internal Compilation on top of the list
- then to Project/Settings/J2ME Wireless Settings and make sure that the J2ME Wireless Internal Compilation was the default compiler
- then Project/Settings/Java Sources/Default compiler and set the compiler again
-then I went to Tools/Global Options/J2ME Wireless Options and set "Check default compiler" to false
Now it works!Perhaps there are useless/contradictory steps in there, but at least now my code is only compiled against MIDP classes and not J2SE classes.

ITunes doesn't recognize either of my iPods

I downloaded the latest update recently and since then iTunes doesn't recognize either of my two iPod touches (4th gen), even though the computer does. My iPad (1st gen) is still recognized normally. I tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it several times, and that didn't work. The iPods are recognized by iTunes on other computers. The computer in question runs windows 8.1, if that makes a difference. From the look of these forums it looks like I'm not the only one who has this problem. Please help.

iTunes does not use the .xml it uses the .itl
If you are sure your old library file migrated across (does the file size and modification dates suggest it has?) start iTunes while holding down the option/alt key and guide it to the .itl file to get it to use that one.

To confirm, your existing mail client isn't communicating with your existing and remote mail services at Dreamhost? Which mail client are you using (Apple mail?), and how is mail on the client set up?
It would initially seem that your client is still referencing the server, either for its inbound or outbound mail. (And I'm not sure how unplugging the server helps here, unless there's some sort of a configuration issue, or a duplicate network address or such.) This would usually be something within the configuration of the mail client.
The Mac OS X Server is significantly easier than the many other servers and server operating systems I've dealt with over the years, but it requires reading the manuals and/or some knowledge of networking and of server environments.
Small shops and home folks without the time or inclination to "spin up" on these server areas can be well-served with some help initially configuring the server. Servers are different from clients. Stuff that you're implicitly used to using when you're running a client -- the DHCP server, for instance -- are what the servers provide you with.
As for Mac OS X Server and particularly if you head outside of the default settings and sequences and off into the customizations, which is what has happened here, you might want to engage some assistance. Not just for the direct and obvious initial set-up sequence, but also for getting you set-up and started with backups and other such tasks. Before you get too deep in here and get too much underway and too much saved on your disks, do seriously consider getting somebody in to help set this box up for you.
Mac OS X Server is not "no IT", but it is rather closer to "less IT" than most. Particularly once you get it configured and running.
