Forward from an included page

When we try to <jsp:forward> from an included (<jsp:include>) page, the
rest of the page that includes gets rendered after the forwarded page.
Let's say "main.jsp" includes "subpage.jsp". If there is an error in
"subpage.jsp", we want to forward in to an eror page called "error.jsp"
However, after the "error.jsp" is rendered, the remaining section of the
main.jsp (after where the include is made) is rendered as well. So we
see the contents of "error.jsp" and remaining-sections of "main.jsp" in
a single page.
Is there a way to stop this?
Thanks

It is very odd to fw: from an included page. Very odd. Forward basically
means "go somewhere else to render the page" and include basically means
"while rendering this page, include something from somewhere else". It is
handy to code a servlet, for example, without any presentation logic, and so
at the end of its processing, it just forwards to a JSP or HTML page or XSL
processor. It is handy from within a JSP to include a standard page heading
and a standard left navigation pane and a standard right navigation pane and
a standard footing so your JSP has includes to suck those things in.

  • Adf bindings of an included page

    I'm using adf/jsf, jdev 10.1.3.4. I'm trying to use the af:menuBar component in conjunction with the af dialog/popup functionality. More specifically, when the user clicks a menu item to navigate, if there are changes to the data on the current page (transaction is dirty), I want the popup dialog to ask the user if they want to save the changes before navigating.
    I've got this working from a simple command button on a jspx page. However, the first issue I'm having with trying to implement this from the menuBar component is that the menuBar is an included page. I use injection in the faces-config to inject the bindings into the backing bean associated with the 'master' page:
    <managed-bean>
    <managed-bean-name>backing_ApplSrch</managed-bean-name>
    <managed-bean-class>view.backing.setup.applications.ApplSrch</managed-bean-class>
    <managed-bean-scope>request</managed-bean-scope>
    <managed-property>
    <property-name>bindings</property-name>
    <value>#{bindings}</value>
    </managed-property>
    </managed-bean>
    The code, which is in the backing bean for the page, that determines if the transaction is dirty looks like this:
    protected boolean isDirty(){
    Boolean b;
    if (bindings == null){
    return false;
    b = ((Boolean) JSFUtils.resolveExpression("#{bindings.Commit.enabled}"));
    // if there is no commit binding, the form is by definition not dirty
    if (b == null){
    return false;
    return b.booleanValue();
    My problem is that when this code checks the bindings value, it's always null. So, the tranaction is never dirty, even when i know it is. I assume this is due to the fact that the code is checking for any bindings in a pageDef behind the menuBar.jspx instead of checking the bindings in the pageDef behind the 'main' page.
    Right now, the only solution I can think of would be not to include the menu jsp and instead add the code for it to every jsp page. However, from a reusability/maintenance standpoint, I'd rather not do it this way. Anyone have any ideas on how i can determine if transaction is dirty from an included page?

    I figured out the solution to that particular problem. Thanks.

  • History forward from a page/browser history

    Hi there
    I have an issue with Chrome. I have to stop hitting back in a particular scenario. To make you understand easily, I have made some simple HTML pages the content of which I am pasting here:
    Page1.htm
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Back Button Demo: Page One</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <h1>Back Button Demo: Page One</h1>
    <a href="middlepage.html">Advance to Page Two</a>
    </body>
    </html>
    MiddlePage.htm
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Back Button Demo: Page One</title>
    <script langage="text/javascript">
    function SubmitForm() {
    document.frmGrantee.submit();
    function noBack() {
    history.forward();
    </script>
    </head>
    <body onload="noBack();SubmitForm();" onpageshow="if (event.persisted) noBack();" onunload="">
    <h1>Back Button Demo: Page Three</h1>
    <form name="frmGrantee" method="POST" action="page2.html" enctype="multipart/form-data"><!--form to submit this intermediate page and display page 3-->
    </form>
    </body>
    </html>
    Page 3.htm
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Back Button Demo: Page two</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <h1>Back Button Demo: Page two</h1>
    </body>
    </html>
    Now the reason of introducing this intermediate page is that, in my actual application, I never know from which page this Page 3.htm is called. So straightaway I introduced this MiddlePage.htm and from every page I am sending the control to that page and from their it is submitted to Page 3.htm so that whenever back is hit from Page 3.htm, it always get an intermediate MiddlePage.htm and due to the code written there, comes back to the Page 3.htm. Otherwise I had to write that history.forward in every page of my application (Page 1.htm, Page 4.htm, Page...n.htm and so on) which would not be a good coding at all. This particular code is already working on IE, Opera, Mozila Firefox. Any suggestion on why I am not getting the history of that intermediate page, is highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance...

    I think that i have the answer of my question!!!
    To forward from a page flow to another page i can put in my jpf an action like this :
    * @jpf:action
    protected Forward doForward() throws URISyntaxException
    String url = PageURL.createPageURL(getRequest(), getResponse(), "definition_label_of_the forward_page").toString();
    return new Forward(new URI(url), true);
    Can someone tell me if i am true ?
    Is there another way to implement this ?
    Thanks for help.

  • "How to forward from a struts form to a login page?"or "how to connect form

    Can Any boby please let me know
    "How to forward from a struts form to a login page?"or "how to connect form to login session id"?

    I believe I can not use a
    request.sendRedirectURL("....") in which I would
    encode all my parameters, because:Righto. This is a bit tricky.
    Basically, you have two options, and both of those are a little nasty.
    1) You could use and intermediate JSP page. Just dispatch you request to that page, use the attributes to construct a form with hidden fields, and use Javascript to POST that form to your intended URL on the document's BODY onload event. Would work, but wouldn't be pretty and requires you to use JSPs and Javascript. Still an idea.
    2) This is something that I wouldn't recommend. Open a socket to the URL you you want to post your data. Manually construct a HTTP POST request, encoding your parameters into the headers. Read and parse the response & modify your HttpServletResponse object accordingly.
    Take a look at i.e. http://javaalmanac.com/egs/java.net/PostSocket.html?l=new for some pointers.
    I'd go with item #1.
    For my own edification, I'd be also interested in
    knowing why such a function does not exist in the
    current httpServletRequest api.I suppose it's a little out of scope. Servlets were ment to interoperate inside one container, not across domains and different implementations.
    I'm guessing I must be missing something fundamentals
    maybe?No, you're not.

    Dear thanassis
    Thanks for you help ,your code is working successfully but my case is the following :
    same your main jsp page but the subview tag in table :
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1256"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f"%>

    </html>
    </f:view>
    try it the parameter dose not work ,but if you want that code work successfully move the subview out of the table.
    Do you know what is the problem ?
    i want give you another hint maybe it is realted to the same problem, which is in my original page the body tag is adf tag ie(<afh:body>) your code dose not work with that tag until i changed the afh:body to html body.

  • How to forward to an other page within an custom action handler?

    I need to achieve following effect, I want to forward from within an custom action handler to an other page, without calling the other action handlers on the same XSQL page.
    I already wrote some action handlers. I placed 3 of them in one XSQL page.
    The first action handler is supposed to check the request parameters of the previous page. If a parameter is invalid, I want to forward to an other page without calling the other handlers in my XSQL page.
    I was trying to achieve this using sendRedirect(), but without success. The other following handlers in the page are called as well.
    Any help will be really appreciated. Thank you.
    Peter

    Steve,
    was this question resolved? I am running
    into a similar problem.
    My JSP includes a xsql page, but at the
    end of it I want to forward/redirect the
    user to another page. I can't get this
    to work as the include directive always
    flushes the servlet buffer and hence
    a jsp:forward cannot come after a
    jsp:include. I even tried
    response.sendRedirect() and
    that also does not work!
    Is there any solution for this?
    cheers,
    Vijay

  • Issue in redirecting to portal page from SSO login page

    HI facing issue while redirecting to portal application from SSO login page.please find below basic details
    the application comprises of TAM / Apache / Weblogic, and all the request goes in the same order.
    When the application is deployed as portlet, the jsp page some how hard codes the apache host name, that in turn blocks any form submit or Ajax action.
    so on successful login the redirection is not happening to required portal page as it includes apache host name in the url consrtucted.
    Please suggest me what are the configurations that I need to verify .

  • Pass parameters from JSP Dyn Page to WDJ Application

    Hi,
    I am trying to pass parameters from my JSPDyn Page to WDJ Application.
    I am using NWDS 7.1 EHP1
    My code is :
    function to_WEBDYNHK()
          EPCM.relaxDocumentDomain();
          EPCM.doNavigate
        ('ROLES://pcd:portal_content/Himanshu.Himanshu/TestDynUIApp?DynamicParameter="hkparam%3Dqwertyuio"');
    This method is being called on click of a button.
    hkparam is the parameter in question.
    The JSPDyn page is an iView and the WDJ application is a page and both have been assigned to a role.
    In the properties of the WDJ Page, I have removed DymanicParameter from "Do not Forward These Parameters To Web Dynpro" property.
    However I am getting null as the value of hkparam in my WDJ application.
    The code used is :
    IWDRequest request = WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter().getRequestObject();
           String param1= request.getParameter("hkparam");
    What seems to be missing here.
    Please help.
    I went through the documentation on SDN but it does not seem to help.
    TIA,
    Himanshu

    Hi Himanshu,
    Try this code.
    EPCM.doNavigate("ROLES:portal_content/Himanshu.Himanshu/TestDynUIApp?hkparam=Dmypass1123")
    if the parameter is hkparam and the value to be passed is Dmypass1123. You need not change any design time property of the WD page, and WDProtocolAdapter should retrive the parameter.

  • Target Named Anchor in a Spry Collapsible Panel from a different page

    Let me start by saying I have combed this forum (and others) looking for a resolution to this.  I am familiar with David Powers solution on Foundationphp.com and am using that code in project to open the collapsible panel from a separate page and it works beautifullly.  The problem I have is that I want the browser to move down to a specific named anchor inside that opened collapsible panel when clicked from a different page.
    Snippets of my current code here.
    Below is the code that I have on an image that when clicked goes to the correct page and opens Panel1.  Works Perfectly!
    <a href="bamboo-species.php?col1=open#CollapsiblePanel1"><img src="images/Content/Photos/HomeScroll/blackTmbor.jpg" width="227" height="175" /></a>
    Below is the link to the .js file and the script in the head of the target page
    <script type="text/javascript" src="SpryAssets/SpryURLUtils.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    // Grabs the values of the URL parameters for the current URL.
    var params = Spry.Utils.getLocationParamsAsObject();
    </script>
    Below is the code that I have on the target page for Panel1
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var CollapsiblePanel1 = new Spry.Widget.CollapsiblePanel("CollapsiblePanel1", {contentIsOpen:params.col1 ? true : false},{duration: 1000});
    </script>
    If I have a named anchor say <a name="species1" id="species1"></a> down in the page, how do I target that named anchor from my link on the separate page.  I have tried adding the #species1 to the end of the link on the link page (see below) but with no luck. I believe those were the instructions on foundationphp.com site.
    <a href="bamboo-species.php?col1=open#CollapsiblePanel1#species1"><img  src="images/Content/Photos/HomeScroll/blackTmbor.jpg" width="227"  height="175" /></a>
    I hope (and suspect) that this is an easy fix, I just do not know what it is.  Any help or direction where to look is greatly appreciated.

    I once had the same issue can created a small function that allows me to "jump" to a element.
    function scrollTo( element ){
         var stylize = function( element){ return !+"\v1" ? element.currentStyle : document.defaultView.getComputedStyle( element , null ) },
              getPosition = function( element ){
                   // based on the SpryEffect's module:
                   var computedStyle, tryComputedStyle,
                        position = { x: 0, y: 0 };
                        if ( element.style.left  && /px/i.test(element.style.left) ){
                             position.x = parseInt(element.style.left, 10); // without padding
                        } else {
                             computedStyle = stylize( element );
                             var tryComputedStyle = computedStyle && computedStyle.left && /px/i.test( computedStyle.left );
                             if (tryComputedStyle)
                                  position.x = parseInt( computedStyle.left, 10 ); // without padding, includes css
                             if(!tryComputedStyle || position.x == 0) // otherwise we might run into problems on safari and opera (mac only)
                                  position.x = element.offsetLeft;   // includes padding
                        if ( element.style.top && /px/i.test(element.style.top) )
                             position.y = parseInt( element.style.top, 10); // without padding
                        else
                             if ( !computedStyle )
                                  computedStyle = stylize( element );
                        var tryComputedStyle = computedStyle && computedStyle.top && /px/i.test( computedStyle.top );
                             if ( tryComputedStyle )
                                  position.y = parseInt( computedStyle.top, 10 ); // without padding, includes css
                             if( !tryComputedStyle || position.y == 0 ) // otherwise we might run into problems on safari and opera (mac only)
                                  position.y = element.offsetTop;   // includes padding
                   return position;
              scroll( 0, getPosition( element ).y );
    So now we have a scrollTo function that accepts a pure HTML element as argument, all what is left to do is figure out if we have a hash, and if the anchor exits on the page.
    ( hopes this works, i wrote it without testing, but you get the general idea ):
    if( window.location.hash ){
         var hash = window.location.hash.substr(1), // remove the # from the hash
         element;
         // as anchors can also be used with id attributes, check that first,
         element = document.getElementById( hash );
         // maby we used name="" attribute
         if( !element && ( element = document.getElementsByName( hash )) ){
              element = element[0];
         // if we have a match:
         if( element ){
              // give the collapsible panel some time to init and update the DOM;
              setTimeout(function(){ scrollTo( element ) },0);
    \o/

  • Can I link from Interactive report Page 1 to Master Detail page 2?

    Hi folks-
    I know how to create a Page as an Interactive Report; it creates 2 pages automatically (primary page with the great interactive bar) and a 2nd page that's a single record.
    I know how to create a Page as Master Detail, whereby I get a tabular list without the super interactive bar, and I can select a record, and get transported to a nice page with 2 regions (master on top, detail on bottom).
    I want to have the First page from the Interactive Report, select the record, and go to the 2nd page of a MasterDetail.
    Do I create the Interactive Report, and customize the 2nd page, to add a region?
    Or, do I create both page types, and redirect from the 1st page of the Interactive Report to the DML Form from the MD report? I tried that, re-assigning the link from the Interactive Report to be a Link to Custom Target, and specify the page # of the Master-Detail page. And it is taking me to the right page, but the data from the selected row is not coming with me, and the detail in the bottom region is not appearing at all.
    Can someone please give me a nudge as to the sequence I should be doing?
    (As you can tell, I'm new to Apex.... I'm trying to use it to create a prototype or proof-of-concept for a database driven web application)
    Thank you
    Marion

    Yes, I tried that after I wrote to you - and it's fine, but not what I'm after; it's only based on 1 table and I'm working with 2 tables.
    Perhaps I can explain in better.
    I want one page as an interactive tabular report (of the master records)
    I want to select a row, and transfer to a page that has the corresponding row on top (as a form), and a tabular region below of records from a related detail table.
    ie, I want page 1 from the Interactive Report, and page 2 of the Master Detail report.
    OK - I just took the form page, and added a region below in a tabular report. And I'm getting the data, but I'm getting all the records (not just the ones associated with the single record on top. I figure I need to edit the Region Definition->Source (to specify that the id numbers need to match), but the code is not editable.....
    So I am in Structured Query Attributes, and I've Modified the Join Conditions - but I still get all the detail records in the bottom region. I''m trying to add in the ( + ) qualifier, but it doesn't affect anything...
    I'm soo close to what i'm trying to do!
    Thank you for your continued patience and assistance
    Marion
    here's the Source I have for the region..... (I'm including the excess ID columns just for learning purposes)

  • Is it possible to Forward to another adf page in ReturnListener method?

    There is button in the page. It is used to pop up a dialog. After the dialog is returned. The ReturnListener of the button is triggered. I want to forward to another adf page in the ReturnListener.
    I searched the forum and found the following page:
    Re: Forward to another adf page from inside onPageLoad event
    I tried all the methods mentioned above, but all of them failed.
    Is there any other solutions?
    Regards,
    Jason

    I had the same problem with a return listener on a commandmenuitem. The navigation doesn't work because there is no partial submit.
    The workaround is to construct a menu item from a commandlink and objectimage. It looks and works the same as the commandmenuitem but you can set partialsubmit=true.
    For example:
    <af:panelGroup layout="vertical">
    <af:panelHorizontal>
    <af:objectSpacer width="10" height="10"/>
    <af:commandLink id="linkButIcon" useWindow="true"
    action="dialog:GoLinkedMatters"
    windowHeight="#{backing_app_ea_LinkedMatters.windowHeight}"
    windowWidth="#{backing_app_ea_LinkedMatters.windowWidth}"
    returnListener="#{backing_app_summary_DPSummary.linkedMattersReturn}"
    partialSubmit="true">
    <af:objectImage source="/images/link.gif"/>
    </af:commandLink>
    </af:panelHorizontal>
    <af:commandLink id="linkButLink"
    useWindow="true"

  • Why does Acrobat suddenly not work on my Mac (won't open pdf files from a web page), yet I can open them from my iPhone? Everything worked fine yesteray.

    Hello:
    I have a Mac running OS 10.8.5 and I use Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Reader. Today for some reason, any time I try and access a pdf file from a web page, it won't open. I get a blank window. PDF files already on my computer open fine and I can create PDF files from Word docs, but I can't download or view any pdf file from any web page. Strangely, PDF files on web pages open just fine on my iPhone.
    I checked that both my copy of Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Reader are up-to-date. They are.
    I checked that my copy of Firefox is up-to-date. It is. And nothing changed with Firefox within the last 24 hours.
    I am a humble computer end-user. I am baffled as to why this would suddenly not work. I have not changed any settings, etc. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.
    I checked your instructions you sent and as far as I can tell all of my settings, etc for Firefox (plugin updates and preferences) are correct but I am having the same problem.
    However, everything works in Safari. I don't have time to attempt to diagnose why Firefox no longer works. I will just switch to Safari.
    Many thanks.
    Charles
