-ForwardingsmtpAddress to multiple addresses Shell script

Hi,
I use the following script to Forward incoming mail to another inbox, but keeping the copy in the original mailbox:
Set-Mailbox -Identity "Company/User" -ForwardingsmtpAddress "[email protected]" -DeliverToMailboxAndForward $true
I have notice if I run the command again it removed the first rule and replaces it with the last command, how can I add 2 Forwarding addresses in one command line, so that I can make one mailbox forward to 2 other mailboxes in one command?
Is that supported?
Thanks

Hi,
The parameter you mentioned "ForwardingSmtpAddress" only allow to setup one SMTP address.
To work around this issue, you can setup the mailbox forwarding to a distribution group, you need to add the users whom you want to forward message to this distribution group.

• How to do multiple shell scripts in AppleScript

I got some solutions from previous posts on how to run sudo in Applescript, but there is still some minor syntax issues when I try to get to the destination directory. Usually in shell script I just type
cd directory-destination
in several lines to batch process those commands, but when I work with applescript, if I do do shell script for every "cd" command, instead of getting an overall result, I would get intermediate results individually.
I read doc and learned that there might be a way to put commands together by using the & sign?

An individual do shell script command runs in its own shell, so to perform multiple commands within that shell you need to combine them into a single statement. You can use the ampersand '&' operator to concatenate text strings, and the semicolon ';' to separate the commands, for example:set theFolder to "/Applications"
do shell script "cd " & theFolder & "; ls -l ."See the technical note do shell script in AppleScript.

• Setting from address on linux to receive the mail after shell script ran

Hi,
I scheduled some shell scripts on Linux as cronjobs. Once the shell scripts are executed at the scheduled timings i am receiving the mails as shown in the below. PRDORA, TSTORA, DEVORA are my environments.
From     Subject     Size     Received
oracle dbora01cocen.corp.psi:PRDORA RMAN Archive Completed using Control file 11 KB Wed 8/13

[email protected] DEVORA:[7]ORA-12012: error on auto execute of job 1524 68 KB Wed 8/13
In the FROM address:
I should receive the mail format: oracle@hostname in the FROM address like shown below.

Rightnow this dbora01cocen.corp.psi is mixing up with the subject in PRDORA instead it should in the FROM address. Can anyone please guide where i am suppose to make modifications in order to get this change.
Thanks

Sorry for the Late Reply.
What does:
$ /bin/hostname
return for each of these environments?
FOR DEV:
[email protected][DEVORA01]% /bin/hostname
devora01coden.corp.psi
FOR TEST:
[email protected][TSTORA01]$ /bin/hostname
testora01coden.corp.psi
FOR PRD:
[email protected][PRDORA01]$ /bin/hostname
dbora01cocen.corp.psi
Are you using a local DNS or /etc/hosts entries to assign host names to IP addresses?I am not sure about this but i looked at /etc/hosts in each server and found the entry of the individual server on all the 3 servers.

• EMail Address Validation - Shell Script

Hi,
I have a custom concurrent program (Shell Script Program). One of the input parameter is Email address.
In my code, I need to validate email address format (Ex: [email protected])
Can anyone paste the code snippet.
I have tried with the below validation
case $EMAIL_ID in
*@?*.?*) echo "Email Address Validated.";;
*) echo "Invalid Email Address. Please enter the correct format of email address and re-run the program";
exit 1;;
esac
This validation is failing in this scenario xxx,[email protected] / xxx [email protected] (If user enters the email address with comma or a blank space. This validation is returning success message)
Regards
BS

Please look up the syntax for this by typing
man mailx
on the shell command prompt.

• Shell Script- Force Quit Multiple Selections?

https://discussions.apple.com/message/25279344#25279344
Thanks to Red for providing this below as it works great for single applications, but if I throw in it multiple selections allowed
how can I separate each selection for force quitting? I'm a total newb to shell script with a decent skill level in applescripting. I'd love to see how this an be implemented.
set theItem to (choose from list theapps) as text
if theItem is false then error -128 -- or exit repeat (Cancel)
do shell script "killall " & quoted form of theItem

set theItems to ((choose from list theapps with multiple selections allowed) as list)
if (theItems as text) is "false" then
else if (theItems as text) is not "false" then
set results to (every item of theItems)
repeat with eachItem in results
do shell script "killall " & quoted form of (eachItem as text)
end repeat
end if
TW actually after comparing it looks very similar! The reason why I used the false statement as text is I kept getting:
--> false
end tell
tell current application
do shell script "killall 'false'"
--> error "No matching processes belonging to you were found" number 1
and it was my workaround that didn't return any error at all. Looking at it a bit more the false was returning that error because I had it "as list". Thanks again for helping me learn how to simplify the workflow some more!

Hi,
Its better you use java to call the shell script and make it a web service and consume it in bpel...u can also try this with java embedding avtivity as well.

• How to Call Multiple Sessions through Shell scripting

Dear Members,
I have a scenario where I load data into target table from 20 different source tables.
For this I have written three procedures where there exists an bulk insert executed on a same table in every procedure. Now I have to call these procedures simultaneously so that
all three bulk loads are executed at once in different sessions.
For this I have to write a shell script which opens 3 different sessions and execute all these packages at once.
Can you guide me through.

When you call sqlplus in your shell script, put a & at the end so that it runs the SQL scripts in the background. For instance:
#!/bin/bash
...oracle home stuff
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus user/pass @script.sql &
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus user/pass @script2.sql &
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus user/pass @script3.sql &

• Passing Multiple Parameters to SQL Script from a Shell Script

Hi Friends,
I have SQL script which accepts 6 parameters.
I am calling this from a shell script as shown below:
sqlplus -s  ${ORACLE_ID} @${SQLPATH}KORONT_041.sql ${USER_ID} ${PDC} ${item_number} ${KORDC} ${PDCSET} ${last_Updated_in_hours} Out of the six parameters, item_number is not a mandatory parameter.
When i pass all six parameters, there is no issue.
But when i leave item_number blank, i am getting the below error
Enter value for 6:
User requested Interrupt or EOF detected.Based on the error, it seems that the NULL values for item_number is ignored and SQL*PLUS is waiting for one more input from user.
How can i overcome this issue?

• Pass multiple Automator variables to Run Shell Script?

I have two Automator variables I'd like to pass to Run Shell Script. I'm missing something obvious, but how is this done?
Thanks in advance

i don't know a nice way to do it but in general any input passed to a shell script will be stored in $@ if input is passed as arguments.
in particular, if you stack two "get value of variable actions" one after another and follow it by "run shell script" both variables will be stored in $@ as a list. just try it out with the default
for f in "$@"
do
echo "$f"
done
You'll see that both variables will be echoed.

• Run a shell script at login?

I would like to run a simple shell script each time a user logs in. Currently, I have it wrapped in an Automator executable that is included in "Login Items", but figured there must be a more elegant way? Thanks.
More info:
The problem I'm trying to solve is that of file permissions when sharing one iTunes and one iPhoto library between multiple users on one computer. The libraries are located in /Users/Shared and the apps were pointed to the relocated libraries by holding down 'Option' on startup. The problem is that work done by each user in the iTunes or iPhoto library inherits the default permission settings of that user, making any new additions to the libraries, read-only to the other users. I'm using `chmod` on login to fix it. Let me know if you know of a better way to address this. Thanks again.

I wrote a simple shell script that executes each time a user logs in (well, actually, each time I log in, coz' it's not really applicable to other users). It syncs my work and home addressbooks and iCal calendars to one another.
I named it "sync". Then I read somewhere that if you wanted to make it double-clickable (to launch it from the Finder), I appended a ".command" filename extension (so it's now named "sync.command"). I also did a chmod 755 to that file so that it had execute privileges. Depending on whether you give each user their own copy of this thing, or keep a single copy in, say, the /Users/Shared directory, you may have to play around with chmod. Whatever, just so long as the user that has just logged in has execute permissions to the file, and to the entire path to the file, you should be good.
Then, in SysPrefs > Accounts > Login Items, I added that "sync.command" file to the list. So, really the only difference is I'm not wrapping mine inside an Automator script like you are.
I had tried adding it to ~/Library/LaunchAgents and make a launchd plist for it, that would kick it off at login. But I didn't get that to work. Don't know why. But just adding the double-clickable executable unix script to the Login Items list did the trick. Whether the plist has to hang out there with it, I don't know. I still have it there, though, in case I ever get motivated to figure out what's wrong with my launchd plist file. So, if just adding it to the Login Items list doesn't do it for you, you could try making a (functional?) launchd plist for it and plopping them both in ~/Library/LaunchAgents, too. That's how I am now, and, like I said, it launches at user login as that user's process (not as a root process like the above referenced article said how login hooks worked -- although, you may want it to run as root since you want this to work with multiple users...in which case, you might want to listen to Cole and not me...).

• Trying to create a shell script to cut/paste files in finder. Help needed.

I'm trying to create an automator shell script to cut/paste. It'll function exactly like copy/paste. i.e. I'll just copy file/files with command+c like always, but then I'll create an automator which uses the "mv" terminal app to move the files which works exactly like cut paste.
I need some help since I don't know the syntax for creating shell scripts.
What I did so far is to do it in automator with Apple Script which goes like the following:
on run {input, parameters}
tell application "Finder"
set theWindow to window 1
set thePath to quoted form of (POSIX path of (target of theWindow as string))
end tell
tell application "Terminal"
do script with command "mv \"" & input & "\"" & thePath in window 1
end tell
return input
end run
This gets the copied file path from clipboard before, as input, and then recognizes the active finder window as thePath so then executes the mv command for the input file to the thePath window.
It doesn't work as expected since it connects both file/window paths into a single path instead of leaving a space between them so the mv command can't recognize two separate paths.
What's the correct syntax for that line
do script with command "mv \"" & input & "\"" & thePath in window 1
to leave a space between input and thePath under the mv command?
Also this requires the terminal app to be open in the background.
After I get this to work I want to do the exact same thing using shell script within automator, so I won't need Terminal to be open all the time.
And the next step will be to cut/paste multiple files/folders but that should be easy to do once I get the hang of it.

Try using:
on run {input, parameters}
tell application "Finder"
set theWindow to window 1
set thePath to quoted form of (POSIX path of (target of theWindow as string))
end tell
do shell script "mv \"" & input & "\" " & thePath
return input
end run

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol RFC 5321 specifications.
RCPT TO:<forward-path> [ SP <rcpt-parameters> ] <CRLF>
The first or only argument to this command includes a forward-path
(normally a mailbox and domain, always surrounded by ">" and "<"
brackets) identifying one recipient.In other words, you can only define a SINGLE mailbox address at a time. Multiple addresses requires multiple repeats of this command verb, once per maibox.
Do not confuse this and the To: tag line in the Mime header that contains a comma delimited list of recipients. That tag line can contain anything - it is not parsed, not checked, and not verified as matching the actual recipient mailboxes as specified via the RCPT TO verb.

• How can I add multiple addresses to a group within address book?

I realize you can add in addresses by going to 'Message' then 'add Sender to Address Book,' but what I'm interested in doing is within Apple Mail, adding multiple addresses into a specific group within address book. I've tried to do this using mail scripts but keep getting an error.
Is it possible to do this?
Thanks.

So far, FWIW all I've got is individual AddToAddressBook, then in AB itself, drag and drop one by one from the main list into the desired group.
