Hi,
Its better you use java to call the shell script and make it a web service and consume it in bpel...u can also try this with java embedding avtivity as well.

    You asked for more detail -- I don't know if this is what you were referring to or not, but here's a little more detail on how to use the system() function if that's what you wanted to know.
    As etresoft mentioned, the system() function can be useful for the kind of thing you are talking about. You will need to write the following statement at the top of your code if you want to use it:
    #include <stdlib.h>
    To use the system() function, simply put the command as you would write it in the Terminal between double quotes between the parenthesis. For example, something as simple as:
    system("ls");
    I don't what the practical use of the above statement would be, but it will run, and that's the general format for the system() function. So just put between the quotes whatever command you want to send.
    Hope there was something helpful here.

  • UNIX path AND  Do shell script path with spaces

    I am trying to building a interface with buttons to execute shell commands when the button is pressed. Below press button execute code.
    I am new to AppleScript and Xcode and Interface builder. I have read different post referencing spaces but I still don't understand.
    THIS COMMAND DOESN'T WORK IT'S SOMETHING TO DO WITH SPACES.
    How would I fix this to work.

    end clicked
    This works (Below) no spaces in the path

    Camelot's explanation was good, but you don't seem to get it, so I'll take a crack at explaining as well.
    First off, you need to understand what "do shell script" does and does not do. "do shell script" takes a string from AppleScript and passes it to a shell interpreter. It does not check in advance that this string makes sense. (That is impossible to do, in fact.) It just passes it along. The shell interpreter then converts the string into a command, or series of commands, and attempts to run them.
    In AppleScript, quotation marks around something make that something a string. So, for example:
    "rm "
    is a string containing a letter r, a letter m, and then a space. Some commands can also return a string, which can then be stored in a named variable, as for example:
    set a_variable to (the text returned of display dialog "Hi!" default answer "Some text")
    When you wish to put two strings together in AppleScript, you use the & operator, as in:
    "String 1" & "String 2"
    In this example, there is no space at the end of the first string, and none at the beginning of the second, so the result is:
    "String 1String 2"
    All clear so far?
    When a shell interpreter attempts to convert a string into commands, it has to split the string into pieces. A space signifies a break between pieces. In order to put a space into a single item, you can do a number of things. You can put the whole item in quotation marks (single or double), which is known as "quoting":
    '/A/Path/With/A Space'
    or you can put a backslash before the space, which is known as "escaping":
    /A/Path/With/A\ Space
    You can combine quoting and escaping if you do it right. For example, the backslash also lets you use a quotation mark inside a single item which is quoted:
    "/A/Path/With/A Space/And/A\"Quotation/Mark"
    There are further rules and substitutions that sometimes border on the arcane.
    In order to simplify things, Apple created the command "the quoted form of". This command takes a string and returns a new string which is properly set up so that it will be just one item when split up for the command line. It will add quotation marks, backslashes, or whatever.
    So, to put things together:
    "rm " & the quoted form of thePath
    is a way of saying to AppleScript "take the string in the variable named thePath, and quote it for the command line; then stick it on the end of a string containing an r, an m, and a space."
    When you pass this to "do shell script", it will break things up in such a way that it hands thePath to the rm command, which will attempt to remove whatever is represented by thePath. (Adding the "-r" in there just tells the rm command "if this is a directory, get rid of it and all its contents". Otherwise rm will complain if the item is a directory.)
    I think, however, you may just have the path wrong. In one of the spots where you gave the POSIX path, it had a backslash (\) at the end instead of a forward slash (/). As Camelot says, a forward slash means that the item is a directory and not a plain file. But if you really meant the backslash, it suggests that the item is a plain file, but has a space at the end (or some other character that mystifies the command line). It's an escape.
    Try making a new script in Script Editor which says
    ">" & (the POSIX path of (choose file)) & "<" at the end, that's the culprit.
    (And if it won't let you select the file when you run the script, it means that the item is actually a folder.)

  • Passing shell script variable to sql file by reference (bind variable)

    Hi All,
    I need to import around 50 files every 15 minutes into my target table.
    I am using shell script and call procedure to do transform.
    I used crontab to do this automate task.
    Here is my shell script and sql file:
    shell script:
    #!/bin/sh
    export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0.4.0
    export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin
    find /path_rawfile/rawfile -iname raw\*.in > myfile.lst
    nfile=1
    while [ true ]
    do
    read iFile #read a line
    if [ $? -ne 0 ] #Break if EOF
    then
    break
    fi
    #$PATH/sqlplus -s /NOLOG @load_raw.sql $iFile
    #/bin/mv -f $iFile /path_rawfile/rawfile/done/
    done < myfile.lst
    sql file:
    connect test/test@evn1
    set serveroutput on
    variable filename varchar2(50)
    begin
    :filename := '&1';
    exec my_tranform(:filename);
    dbms_output.put_line(:filename);
    end;
    exit;
    Even I used bind variable pass to procedure my_transform...
    But when i query in sys.v_$sqlarea, the :filename:='&1' still hard parse to sqlarea.
    One filename one statement and keep increasing ..
    Could everyone help me to change it to bind varialbe(soft parse)?
    I would like to incresae my database performance.
    Thanks in advance.

    It is the procedure.
    It's my fault.
    Here is my SQL file again:
    conn test/test@evn1
    variable filename varchar2(500);
    exec :filename:='&1';
    exec my_transform(:filename);
    exit;
    I call this sql file from shell script and call in loop due to i need to load all file one time.
    Once i use <<EOF it raise error that's why when I deleted it.
    Anyway, what I need to do here is to use bind variable (soft parse).
    Since I need to load around 50 files every 15 minutes.
    exec :filename:='&1'; this statmet have found hard parse in v_$sqlarea.
    I would like to change this to bind varialbe.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Error passing bool/categorical parameter into web service

    I am working on publishing a web service to produce a prediction based on a model.  One of my parameters is whether or not a given day is a holiday, which was a boolean (TRUE / FALSE) that was calculated during an R script.  When I preview the
    output of my input data, I see lowercase "true" and "false".  When I try to pass this into the web service, I get the following error.
    InputParseError: Parsing of input vector failed. Verify the input vector has the correct number of columns and data types. Additional details: Value "bool" is not defined in enum. Line 1, position 2167.., Error code: BadArgument, Http status code:

    I have tried passing in true, 1, TRUE.
    Does anyone know how I can successfully pass in a value for this parameter to get the service to execute?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hello Jeff,
    This is the error observed in our log:

    You have tried to pass "true"/"TRUE"/1 as input value for "Holiday" right? Do you mind sending us more information to help troubleshoot? I'd like to request 1) your sample R code  2) your sample input. Could you please

  • Shell scripts to read data from a text file and to load it into a table

    Hi All,
    I have a text file consisting of rows and columns as follows,

    the whole application is deployed in unix and that text file comes from mainframe. am working in the unix side of the application and i cant access the data directly from the mainframe. so am required to write a script which reads the data from text file which is placed in certain location and i have to load it to oracle database.
    so I can't use SQL * loader.
    Please help me something with this...
    Thanks in advance.

    1. Create a dictionary object in Oracle and assign it to the folder where your file resides
    2. Write a little procedure which opens the file in the newly created directory object using ULT_FILE and inside the FOR LOOP and do INSERTs to table you want
    3. Create a shell script and call that procedure
    You can use the post in my Blog for such issues

  • Can fljs launch a shell script?

    I'm stuck on trying to figure out a long process (as flash does not allow to publish from the terminal (hint, hint adobeDev people).
    How can I launch a shell script after a *.fljs has published the a swf file, so it can push the swf file further down the process?

    As has been mentioned, you can run Applescript. You would use:
    do shell script "/path/to/your/shell/script"
    You could also write an Automator app, and use the "Run Shell Script" action.
    NOTE: Make sure the environment running from iCal is sufficient for your needs. You might want to do a test run with the following commands to see what your environment is:
    ( id -a # user id
    echo "$#" # number of arguments passed
    echo "$@" # all the arguments passed
    pwd # your current working directory
    printenv # your environment variables
    ) >/tmp/iCal.bash.script.env.txt

    I dont know about shell scripting .since iam involved in the database administration side i dont know have much knowledge in unix shell scripting.
    As a DBA upto wat level i should be good in shell scriptingI belive atleast you have to learn until u can write some control or backup script or when you see some scripts you can understand what they are doing. There is no level or limitation to say "My information enough".
    For instance i can type some scripts here but when i go some client they have wirtten and run scripts which can has more than 300-500 line scripts. Its mean its depend your workaround and company or clients needs&requests.
    so, wat part does this shell scripting taked in database administration.so wat are all the things which i should get familiar to gain good knowledge in shell scripting.You can type many scripts as:
    For backup
    For check tablespace status
    For check alert log error
    For compiling invalid objects
    and so on.
    so kindly provide me some docs/metalink IDS which will enrich my knowledge in shell scripting.I suggest check first Hussein Sawwan previous greatest post about similar topic:

  • Calling a shell script

    Hi,
    I have a shell script on the server to rename the computers and also I have a script on the local Machine to bind the computer to AD. I would like to call the binding script from renaming script(Basically I want to call it after renaming) anyone with any idea. I am sure it is very simple but I can't think of the way. I try do shell script” path of the bind script" but it didn't work.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Ramin_Perth,
       I think that the best way of doing what you want to do is to use an ssh forced command. If you search for "ssh forced command", without the quotes, you'll find quite a bit about it but my favorite reference is is the eighth chapter of O'Reilly's SSH, The Secure Shell, titled Per-Account Server Configuration.
       Basically, you generate a public and private key but specify a filename with a name that reminds you of the command or script you want to execute. (the script should be in the path of the user that's going to execute it) Put the public key in the .ssh directory of that user and add the forced command to it as indicated in the above reference. In the "renaming script", invoke ssh as you would to login to the machine with the "binding script" on it as the user that will invoke the script. However, include the -i option to specify the private key file that you generated with the special name. That's all you have to do. You don't have to specify the script or command, (it will be invoked automatically) you won't have to provide a password and ssh will return when the script is done.

  • Inserting Script code into HTML - possibly using snippets?

    I am using Robohelp 7 and I need to insert some tracking script code into the HTML.
    The location needs to be right before the body close code.
    I have multiple pages and would love to use a snippet so that it would be easy to update as necessary.
    When I create the snippet code and drop it on the design page, it shows the code.
    I cannot get it to drop into the HTML.  Any suggestions?
    If it can't be done with snippets, is there a way to mass import code into the HTML of ALL pages?  I'm talking hundreds of pages.

    Hi there
    I doubt you will want to use snippets for this. Why? Well, if you use Snippets, you will need to edit all your pages so they include the snippet!
    So here's how I might approach it.
    Open the Project Set-up pod. Create a Topic Template. Inside the Template, add a Footer. Insert the script into the footer. Save the template and apply it to all your topics. You do this by selecting all topics in the Topic List pod, right-clicking them and choosing the Template. Whoosh! The template is associated and all topics now have a footer (with the script inside).
    Hopefully this helps... Rick

  • Passing parameters into a shell script through alias Names ????

    I have two alias names ord and dev. And the content of them are as follows.
    alias ord
    ord='cd ${ORDER}/bin; export APPL_NAME=order; . SetupAppl order'
    alias dev
    dev='cd ${APPL_ROOT}/bin; export APPL_ENV=dev; . SetupEnv dev'
    Alias ord calls a shell script called SetupAppl. Alias dev calls a shell script called SetupEnv.
    I am trying to pass a parameter when calling the alias name dev, something like dev WEST. And I
    want to read that parameter inside the shell script SetupEnv.
    The way I want to execute them, first run the alias ord and then the alias dev. But, when I try
    to read the parameter in SetupEnv by $1 it is showing the value of the parameter passed to SetupAppl
    ie order and not WEST.
    Is there any way to read the value (WEST) passed as a parameter when executing the alias name.
    example : dev WEST and reading the value WEST inside SetupEnv
    The reason I am executing those scripts (SetupAppl and SetupEnv) with dot(.) in the front is because
    those scripts have some export statements which needs to exported to the environment.
    Any help on this is highly apprecaited

    Hi everybody,
    I posted same question earlier for UNIX/shell script and rec'd one response. Thanks to Bob.
    But the requirement has been changed and now my mgr wants the same task using PL/SQL. Could somebody help me ?
    Question again....
    I am working on a task which gets report on every remote database.
    I created a small database: ‘REPORTS_DB’ and I created 6 'sql' scripts on that database. While executing the first script, it calls the other 5 different 'sql' scripts. All these 5 sql scripts use a '@db_link' (hard coded) and gets that database's report to the database: REPORT_DB.
    It is working well. But,
    We have 42 databases and I have to get reports of all the 42 databases. Since it is not efficient to create 42 sets of sql scripts, I want to make it automated.
    I know (but I don't know HOW) I can pass a parameter (database link name) while running the first script (which calls the other 5 scripts), so that the parameter replaces the @db_link in all the 5 scripts and gets the report of the related (@db_link) database.
    Could somebody tell me how to do this task using SQL and PL/SQL ?
    OR
    send me a sample PL/SQL script to do this task?
    Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks in advance.

    Have you looked at [url http://ant.apache.org/]ant's website
    That's apache's ant. I'm not sure if there are others or not.
    if so, here is the mailing list [url http://ant.apache.org/mail.html]info

  • Passing variable from sql to shell script

    Usually we can pass arguments from shell script to the sql that us called inside the shell script. But I also want to do the reverse. I have the location of my backup path in a table. I want to run the rman script (shell), read this parameter from the table and use this to construct the "format" path in rman. Anyone has any ideas about this. Thanks.

    To achieve getting the modified value from the table everytime the job runs, I encapsulated this in another job.
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_JOB(
    JOB_NAME           => 'TEST_LOGS_MAIN',
    JOB_TYPE             => 'PLSQL_BLOCK',
    JOB_ACTION          => 'declare
    v_aname varchar2(32);
    begin
    select aname into v_aname from attr where attrid = 3;
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_JOB(
    JOB_NAME        => ''TEST_LOGS'',
    JOB_TYPE        => ''EXECUTABLE'',
    JOB_ACTION      => ''/opt/sql/testy.sh'',
    number_of_arguments => 1,
    COMMENTS        => ''TEST'');
    dbms_scheduler.set_job_argument_value(''TEST_LOGS'',1,v_aname);
    dbms_scheduler.enable(''TEST_LOGS'');
    end;',
    REPEAT_INTERVAL => 'FREQ=MINUTELY',
    ENABLED           => TRUE);
    END;
