Thanks for the prompt reply,
the session works like a charm, thanks.
I am still not sure how I can feed back ActionErrors from the named event to the JSP page however. I think I have seen the paper you are talking about on the OTN and it has got me as far as I am now with the named events (onSubmitLogin) but I am still not able to find out how errors can be signalled back to the same page, if required. I can certainly do an actionContext.setForward("error"); and follow the error forward back to the same page, but I can't get my errors to show up in the html:error tag
Also, I am not quite sure I follow what you say about the login information being stored in a ViewObject. Is this a particular view object, and if so, which one? How can I get from having a username and password field in a JSP page to putting the right credentials into the right View Object in order to allow ADF to use the tagish JAAS stuff? (I have already changed the jbo.security settings to what I think are the correct ones based on the JDeveloper help).
Thanks again
Dick

  • Was this functionality (from BIPublisher) developed with ADF?

    Hi,
I think BI Publisher was developed with ADF.
If so can anyone tell me where can I find the kinds of objects and behaviours in the example that follows?
After logon pls go to the insight tab, click on the lists, and watch what happens on the other related lists.
when you select one or more items, the graphics change and the related lists highlight the items related with the graphs.
Are this reusable ADF components? if so where can I find them? any Jdev version is acceptable since we are still evaluating options

    Thanks for any help
    Joao

I think this is indeed built with ADF Faces - it uses a bunch of the DVT components for the graphs. Probably an af:iterator on the left, and an af:table at the bottom.
You can see similar graphing demos in the ADF Faces components demo:

  • Exchange 2013 owa integration with ADFS and cooexistance with exchange 2007

    Team,
I have successfully integrated adfs 3.0 and Exchange 2013 owa and ecp.  However, we have a coexistence environment with exchange 2007.  When you access owa, which then redirects you to adfs, sign-in, and then get redirected back to owa. If your
mailbox is still within exchange 2007, you get a blank login page.  If you mailbox is in exchange 2013 then you successfully get the owa page for 2013.  The problem is that all exchange 2007 mailbox users get blank pages at login. So I have determined
that exchange 2013 cas is not doing the service location lookup on the mailbox to determine if a redirect to the legacy owa address is needed.  Is there a configuration setting that I might be missing? Or does the integration with adfs and owa not support
the much needed mailbox lookup for a coexistance environment?  A side note: if we enable FBA with owa, both login scenarios work just fine (legacy and new 2013). The legacy namespace has been created, and applied to the exchange 2007 urls.

    Hi,
Tuxedo is unable to make any HTTPS calls other than SOAP/HTTPS. So if you are using web services, then SALT can perform SOAP/HTTPS calls, although I don't believe we support the message signing feature of WS-Security (although you might want to check the SALT 10gR3 or later documentation.)
We are considering adding support for HTTP/HTTPS directly in Tuxedo, but that feature is not available in any current version of Tuxedo. What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

PS It would have been better to start a new thread for this question. :-)

  • Developing with ADF BC or TopLink

We are a Higher Education PeopleSoft Student Administration, Financial and HR shop and are interested in gaining expertise with technology that will benefit us for when we implement Fusion Application technology. We are in the process of developing a web application using JDeveloper ADF and would like to know if we should focus our development using ADF BC or TopLink. I was under the impression that TopLink would be the best way to go, but I encountered a comment on a web site ( http://www.odtug.com/fusionjava_sig.htm ) "Fusion Java Development SIG topics of interest do not include:Non-Fusion technologies supported by JDeveloper (JSP/Struts, TopLink and JClient) and I would like to know if we should rethink our development strategy and focus on ADF BC.
    Thank you

The decision of whether to go with TopLink or ADF BC as the implementation for persistence usually depends on the background of the developers.
    I wrote about it here:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/shay/2006/03/10
Since most of the developers at Oracle who are going to work on the Fusion generation of applications are coming from a 4GL background (Forms, BC4J, Peopletools etc) - the decision was made to use ADF Business Components in Fusion Applications.
This combination also provide us with the most out of the box features and less coding.

  • Parallel development with ClearCase and Jdev

I am looking for information on "best practices", howtos, etc for configuring a ClearCase VOB repository to support parallel development of J2EE applications/components using JDeveloper in a large development team.
In particular, I am not sure how to set up the code repository (AND JDeveloper) to deal with JDeveloper's project file structure and the various metadata that are created for each developer at the same time as you need to work transparently with an exisiting repository of Java components which have already been developed and are managed outside of JDeveloper and ADF.
Unless I have missed it...documentation seems to be a bit thin in this area so...
    TIA for any help/advice/pointers
    Jim

I'm searching for other peoples experience developing an application that could run with either postgres 8 or Oracle 10g.
The reason of course is that many of our customers don't have the money for Oracle, but we do want to use and RDBMS.
The logical thought is that as long as the database objects are the same, the application isn't going to be that different. The other logical thought is that if you don't use any Oracle specific features then customers who have paid money for Oracle will have just wasted that investment when it comes to running such an application.
    So why bother with Oracle.
The simplest way to have a single code base is to develop for a single database, the cheapest lowest common denominator and just give the customer the database with the application.
If that is true that it would greatly help the development team since they would not have to have separate teams for each type of database. But it will not be a great help to the development team if they can only use functionality that is available on both databases and works the same way on both databases. It will be a really big hindrance to the development team, increase development time and lead to more code that needs to be written.
    >
But before we start down that path we are trying to find out if anyone else is doing something similar, and what the overall experience has been.
I have seen several applications developed using this single code base for multiple database approach and they have all been inefficient when running on Oracle to the extent that you wish they had used a flat file and hadn't bothered with a database at all.

  • Java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError with ADF and Websphere

I'm trying to get an app running with ADF/Tomahawk/MyFaces/Facelets going on Websphere 6.0. However Websphere is running with a 1.4.2 JVM instead of 1.5 so I get an error when it comes to the ADF NavigationHandlerImpl which has been built with Java 1.5. Is there a Java 1.4 version of ADF faces I should have downloaded somewhere?
    Hints appreciated.

you will have to compile the application with JDK 1.4 in this case. This should work for JSF and ADF Faces.

  • Integration with ADF and Inquira

    Hi
we want to use Inquira for search functionality in adf page.
can anyone provide some hands on or document for the same.
    Jdev- 11.1.1.5

    Which APIs does Inquira provide?
You can probably just write a Java class that communicate with Inquira and then expose it as a data control that you can integrate into an ADF page.

  • How to Develop with ADF Business Components for Multiple Databases

    Hi,
I developed business component by http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/multidatabaseapp-085183.html tutorial. it was work on mysql and oracle database. In mysql , Set Up Primary Key Generation is only one sequence share betweeen tables. How to make another sequence each mysql table?

    juddi,
As that article states, the built-in capability of ADF BC uses that single table for all entities (tables) - since it's just a surrogate key, it should not matter. If you wanted different sequences for different entities (tables), that is something you'd have to code for yourself.

  • IaStor Event ID 9 error with T420s and OCZ-Agility3

Hello, I need your help, as I've been battling this issue for the last 3 days and I'm extremely frustrated.
I'm running a Lenovo T420s (4170CTO) and replaced the IDE HD with a SSD OCZ-Agility3.
I am getting iaStor Event ID9 error in my system event log, with the system constantly freezing, halting, chocking, usually for about 5 minutes, then it unlocks itself, or at times never recovering.
I flashed the OCZ Drive Firmware to the latest 2.08
I flashed the Bios of the Lenovo 420s to 1.13
I also started over by cloning the default Lenovo install from the original drive onto the SSD so all lenovo install drivers are present. I also updated all the drivers, including the latest Intel Rapid Story Technology driver for the Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller.
Please let me know if you have advice on how to resolve the iaStor error. Very furstrating, the combo of the laptop and the SSD is extremely fast when it works, but the frequent crashes and lock ups are making me go nuts.
    Thanks,
    Ivan.

have you tried disable Intel Link Power Management (LPM)?  it fixes some iaStor timeout errors for certain SSD.

  • Shouldn't Apple recall and provide FREE replacement for MacBook Pro screens with ghosting and dead pixel issues?

Read the forum posts, Google the issue, watch the YouTube videos on the problems; they are everywhere. I purchased a 2012 Retina MacBook Pro and the screen is riddled with dead pixels, white ghosting throughout, and image retention issues, all from a company that promotes the quality of the product they sell. There's no way this issue facing so many consumers shouldn't result in Apple replacing these screens for FREE.
I purchased the high-end machine for photo and video editing. Photo editing is particularly difficult when I can't tell if I have dust, dirt or colour shifts in my images or if it's just the screen overlaying these issues. I've never had so many issues with any screen I've purchased, from my Panasonic Plasma TV to my cheap ACER laptop. Please Apple, quit ignoring this issue.

Be advised that this is a user to user forum where Apple employees do not participate.  You may make your thoughts known here:
