Fresh 'out of the box' R12.1.1 vision install on Linux 4

On first connecting to the Apps using Internet Explorer - I get to the login page enter sysadmin/sysadmin, click Login. The browser thinks about it for a second and then returns to the login screen. No errors reported. It just doesn't progress to responsibility selection.
Browser settings are all ok. Indeed, I am able to connect to another R12 system using the same PC/browsers just fine.

Ipad 3 Fresh out of the box today, simply does not charge. Thoughts? (other than take it back to apple)

If it is just out of the box, I would take it straight back to Apple and ask them to fix it.
Why should you have to mess around with fixing a device?

  • HT1338 How to do a fresh out of the box reinstall of maverick??

I've developed a habit over the past 10 years of deleting my entire hard drive and using the install disk that came with the computer every year to maintain that fresh out of the store feel. Can I please get some insight as to how that would work now that iMacs ship with no disk drive and no install disk is given??
I currently have a mid 2010 imac that shipped with snow leapord. I will be wiping the computer and giving it to my mother. I will then buy myself a new imac. Will the snow leapord and applications disks that came with my mid 2010 imac work on my new one if I have to?
    Thanks for any help!

  • My year old phone this morning was like it was fresh out of the box. can i do anything with out without messing it up?

    blackberry curve 9350.
    7.0 bundle 1346
35 apps.  i think they are all blackberry.
can't find where the memory is at but i have a 16g mem in there.
i don't know what to do now.  do i start like fresh and lose everything from 6 years of contacts and such?
what should i do next?  charlie

Well, I just re-read the title of your thread and you say your device is a year old. If it's over one year then you are out of warranty. If it is under a year you should still have warranty left.

  • 5k iMac, fresh out of the box. USB keyboard. How do I turn it on?

the title says it all. I've pressed every key on the keyboard, starting with the media eject key. Nothing.

rkaufmann87, I'd like to very gently suggest that there are only two things I mentioned in my post. Mind reading isn't required.
And, in fact, neither is an answer, because I figured it out. I must have had my glasses off when I was looking at the back, and missed the power button. I'm all set now.
For those who might be as blind as me, the power button is on the left hand side in back as your are facing the iMac.

  • I have a brother MFC-9700-- connected to a fresh out of the box mac mini running 10.9.2---when it goes to sleep it loses USB connectivity and I have to physically remove the USB cable and unplug power from the printer for it to be recognized again.

Any help would be appreciated. I have downloaded and installed the latest twain drivers and CUPS drivers from Brother-USA but no change in symptoms.

  • Chip on iPhone 5 fresh out of the box.

    So...I ordered a new iPhone 5 from AT&T.
    It arrived today.
I activated it with AT&T rep on the phone.
    All went well.
Noticed some "lint" under the plastic protective sheet on the back of the phone.
    I removed the plastic.
The lint was acutally a raised rough area that had been caused during the manufacturing of the iPhone 5.
    I called AppleCare.
They directed me to the local store manager via phone.
Team member did not let me speak with the manager after I discribed my problem.
Instead she set an appointment for me to see a iPhone 5 specialist (not the manager) and said they would evaluate the defect in 50 hours...it was the earliest possible.
Why am I a frustrated Apple Customer?
I think I'm going to the store now!

Go to store now is best- I did same thing they exchange it right away. They DO have iphone in stock but not for sale.. it's for people who recieve damaged new phone.

  • BAD DISPLAY Fresh Out Of the Box

My shiny custom configured Aluminum MacBook just arrived from Hong Kong. The display is all garbled images and text.
It was fun to pay for expedited shipping on a junk laptop and to have Apple tell me it will be a little while for the whole return/exchange process to be completed.

I ordered this lappy minutes after it was released. It was defective and Apple helped me send it back. Now, I am in the back of a long queue for replacement. The resale value on my current MBP tanks daily. Once it arrives to my house I have to have it forwarded to me. I know it will all be over in a few weeks. I wish Apple would make some noble effort to appease customers they strongly inconvenience. The solution would be to offer better model selection at the retail level. I am done with the online Apple store.

  • Fresh out of the box iMac backlight off

Received a brand new 21.5 inch iMac Intel Core 2 and when i first turned it on the display remained black. There was a start up chime and then nothing. When I point a flashlight at it I can see the "select your language" screen, and the keyboard and mouse are both responsive so I assume this is only a backlight issue. Anything I can do beyond returning it?

Try doing this procedure to reset PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
and if that does not help, this procedure to reset SMC
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
which is basically unplugging the iMac from power and reconnecting it using a precise procedure. If you are using a crowded or old power strip to connect the power cord, for this test, try connecting it directly to a wall power outlet to see if it makes any difference. Power it up with nothing connected, except for the power cord.
If the screen backlight does not come on after doing the above, you'll have to have it examined at an Apple Store or Apple-certified repair shop.

  • What firmware does the iphone 4 come with fresh out of the box?

    Just wondering.

You should have no trouble using an earlier backup to put your data back, I'm guessing from a prior model iPhone?

  • Right out of the box...and it KEEPS SHUTTING DOWN!! Help!!

I received my brand new iMac this afternoon and plugged it in. It was working fine for about two hours, now all of the sudden, the thing will not stop shutting down and powering up. It is almost as if I am jiggling power source on and off, like a flicker, and I am not even touching it. I tried troubleshooting with the cosmetic ring around the power connector - no dice, the computer keeps turning on and off like it's posessed. There is plenty of slack on the power cord so it's not being pulled. I am afraid plug the system in...all that shutting down and powering up can't be good for the system. What should I do?
    IMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Welcome to the discussions!
If you have checked that the power plug is firmly seated and confirmed that it is, then the only thing to do is to call Apple or take it in.
If there is a problem with the power supply or logic board, Apple should replace the entire unit. No new Mac fresh out of the box should require repairs.

  • I just purchased a new SSD for my mac and I wanted to do a fresh/clean install on the SSD, like if my Macbook just came out of the box. How do I do that?

I just purchased a new SSD for my mac and I wanted to do a fresh/clean install on the SSD, like if my Macbook just came out of the box. How do I do that?

Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
    1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    2. After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This will install the version of OS X that originally came with your model if you have a model that supports Internet Recovery - 2010 models and later: Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery.

  • IMac #2, Froze out of the box...

A quick update on the status of my "Freezing 24" Aluminum iMac". The new replacement iMac froze at the store, right out of the box.
5 hours of AppleCare phone support, 11 days of in store repair and 2 hours of standing in the store... I have a new replacement iMac with potentially the same problem.
The original 24" 2.4G Aluminum iMac was freezing regularly about 5 - 10 times a day and was almost completely unusable. This machine was 70 days old when I decided to contact AppleCare.
After AppleCare referred me to the local store for repair I was told 3 - 5 days for a replacement of the logic board (motherboard), this turned into 7 days then 10 days and finally 11 days before the part came in and was replaced.
The Apple repair technician indicated that the iMac had passed all hardware tests and was ready to go.
Fortunately, I had read the forum posts and wanted to know for sure that the freezing issue was resolved. I decided to boot the machine up in the store, and verify if it was or was not remedied.
Bad News! Upon initial boot, artifacts and graphics glitches and 2 minutes into the OS, changing screen savers the iMac froze.
Besides the freezing, they (Apple repair) had also damaged the outside case of the new iMac and scratched the Aluminum casing on 3 corners during repair.
I was already not too happy, however the repair technician was GREAT (Thank you! Repair Man @ Lynnwood, WA -- Left out his name, as to not cause problems) and decided that with the iMac still freezing and the damage to the machine it would be their pleasure to replace the iMac with a brand new one. ** Keep in mind, my iMac is 88 days old **
At that point, I asked store management if it would be possible to upgrade my purchase to the 2.8 Extreme and pay the difference since we were doing a replacement anyway. They were very helpful and friendly and made this an incredibly easy replacement.
Here is the bad news... Right out of the box, the new Aluminum 24" 2.8G iMac froze about 2 minutes into the 2nd reboot after applying the iMac 1.2 update for Tiger.
Not sure if that is the problem (the 1.2 update), but this is very frustrating. The Apple store manager was very empathetic and was promising to make this right no matter the cause.
After several more reboots and tests, I was unable to get the iMac to freeze and maybe it appeared to be an isolated case.
We decided that I would take the new iMac back home and if it failed even once more that they would indeed replace it until I had a working model regardless of how long I have it.
I have now installed a fresh copy of Leopard, and it has yet to freeze as I go through the setup screens. I will update if any problems arise.
    Hope this helps.

    Here's an update.
I haven't had one freeze yet.
Unfortunately, I wish I had seen this at the store...
I didn't think to check, but on a black background you can clearly see an obvious white light bleeding in on the edge of the screen in the lower right portion of the display.
Backlight bleeding is a problem with a lot of iMac's... I had yet to have it happen to me, but it looks like my iMac (new again) replacement is going back to the Apple Store tomorrow for another replacement.
This is getting real old. Besides, like all Mac people, we care about the resell value of the machine. There is no way to get your money out of your iMac, when you have to disclose that it has a bright white backlight bleeding spot on the display when you watch a DVD or when the screensaver comes on.
Spending a few thousand dollars on a new Mac shouldn't be like playing the lottery. Hoping you get a good machine, or maybe you get a freezing one or a bad display.
So now it is adding up.
5 hours on the phone with AppleCare
11 days without the iMac while being repaired
2 hours of standing in the Apple Store
4 hours of driving back and forth to the Apple Store
... and 2 more hours of driving tomorrow, with another 1 hour of waiting.
And all of this, while hoping to get one that works and is worth $2300.00...
