From Database pass in Provisioning job
Hello SDN,
I'm trying in a provisioning job to get some data from the database and then sending it back onto the database, here i found the 'from database' pass satisfying.
The problem is i'm getting this wired error: "Fromsource ODBC is a illegal type for provisioning!" when i have set it all up and trys to run it.
I have been reading in the help files and found that ODBC only is used when the runtime engine is Windows but mine is running on a Java runtime engine. the link i uses for the connection is the global constant %$ddm.identitycenter% and i uses it several places outside the provisioning jobs in 'from database' pass.
I have then been reading further in the help files and found this quote: 'A task always operates on one given entry in the identity store. This is why there is no source defined in the pass of the job in an action task.' is this why i can't connect up to the database?
Some one having any idea?

You can not use FromPass into Provisioning Job.
To do so, Create an Administration Job with to pass :
1- FromDatabase (....) to read date from your source
2- ToDatabase (....) to send it back with needed transformation
This job can be run manualy (using runnow) or scheduled, but can as well be call from a provisioning job. To do so;
Create a Provision Job with ToGeneric pass,
Into the ToGeneric pass, write a javascript function with :
OutString = uRunJobNow(<Job ID of the administration job previously defined>)

C KumarAs everyone else has already mentioned, the uProvision function is probably what you're looking for. It's well documented in the helpfile so I won't add the parameter description here. A provisioning task can only be run on a mskey/taskid combination so you need to provide both to start the task. That means that you should have a global or job constant pointing to the task, and a script or source select statement that looks up the mskey that you want to start.
Simple example, using a To Generic pass to start the task "Dispatcher test #1.0.0" for 1000 entries whos names start with "USER.10K.TEEST"

TASKID could also be a global constant w. a task reference since tasknames have no uniqueness.

Displaying image from database in report
I need to include a picture (company logo) in numerous reports. This logo will be stored in an MS SQL Image field in a table (this bit I have already sorted out).
What I'm wondering is, what is the best way to retrieve this image from the database? Do I just include it in the view the report runs off? I'm hesitant to do this, as the view may return back hundreds of records, which means (I think) it will be sending the image along with it hundreds in time.
In short:
1) What is the best way to pass an image to a report.
2) If I include the Image field in a view which returns back hundreds of line, will the image be returned also hundreds of time, causing network congestion/performance issues?
3) If so (2), is there a way of sending the image only once, no matter how many rows are in the returned view?

We can display the image by making it a local copy on your machine.
If it is possible to get the image saved on local copy.
If we place the image in detail section then it would return one record.
As the image is from Database, so it would hit the database very time when you refresh the report and place it in Report Header or report fotter.
So, place your logo as an OLE object in report and would reduce processing time.

I am trying to configure Planning and getting the following error message at instance configuration step:

We looked at PlanningSystemDB.properties, changes server name to its ip, reinstalled planning, made sure both auth methods are selected (sql server and windows), created new relational repository.. still the same error.

Thanks for any help.After spending 2+ hrs with Hyperion Support nothing got resolved.. Just to give more background on this problem, we originally reconfigured all Hyperion components to use different SQL server, that is when the problem started happening as soon as we got to Planning Instance Configuration. Could this be the situations when old server name is still somewhere in the system?.. Could this be Shared Services problem.

context var is used if you want to pass values between tasks. If you are using in a job and you want to use values between passes, then you could use a job variable. Or if you want to calculate and use the values in same pass in the job, you can use a Hashmap.

HP Laser Jet P2055 slow when printing Excel documents or from databases.
I work for a company that is deploying 100s of this model of printer and for some reason Excel documents and print jobs sent from databases print out extremely slowly. It takes 2 to 7 seconds per page depending on what is being printed.
The way we are setup is with a Windows 2008 print server with print queues on it. We use only the HP universal print driver on this particular print server and it is against our standards to install the printers locally. Also all of our printers have been updated to the firmware 20101025
After doing a lot of troubleshooting I found that this appears to happen anytime I use either of the following printer drivers with this printer.
HP Universal Print Driver ver 5.01, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3 Both in Windows XP and in Windows 7 and with both PCL 5 and PCL 6.
HP 2055 PCL 6 ver. 61 in Both Windows XP and in Windows 7.
I have also tried connecting the printer locally to see if that helps but I experience the same issues. So far the only work around I have found is to use an older print driver for a down level printer. For example the P2015 and 1320n print drivers appear to work better though there is still a slight delay.
An additional step I tried is leaving the tray open when I send the print job. This appears to force the printer to spool the print job correctly though there is still hesitation it just isn't as pronounced. For example with a 10 page Excel document once I push the tray back in the printer will print 4 pages then pause, print 3 more pages, then pause, then print 2 more pages, pause then print the final page. This has happened with all 5 P2055x printers that I have tested it on.
Please help, we need to get this resolved because this particular printer is the only model we are currently allowed to use. I'm hoping a newer firmware than 20101025 might be on the way?

List of values from Database Adapter - BPM Forms

Can anyone tell me how to get list of values from Database adapter and a ServiceTask.
As example lets say a table has Employee and Department columns.
I want to list down all the Employees in BPM form (Select One List Box) once i provide the department to the Database Adapter.
Is it possible from the DB Adapter?? What will be the variable type?

Actually when i send the variable in 'WHERE Clause' in Db Adapter query it will retrieve more than one record as the output.
I want to put that values to a 'SelectOneChoice' component and list down all the values..
First I tried with data control. But i couldn't find the way to pass the value to the variable(in WHERE clause) to the query in data control view.

You need to invoke a method from your jsp file which interacts with the database. If you are following the MVC pattern which segregates the View and Contoller part, invoke the controller jsp from your View using the include tag.
Say this is the View.jsp

Dynamic record deletion from database table
Hi,
I need to delete selected records from database table(dynamic names). Table names are being passed from main program with some of their field names. The record to be deleted from the database table is being decided based on the fields passed for the table and their contains passed from the main program.
It is not possible to write dynamic where clause for DELETE statement directly.
So, I created a dynamic internal table and i am trying to fetch all records using SELECT statement(for which we can write dynamic where condition, something like...SELECT...WHERE (itab). ) which need to be deleted in the iternal table.
Piece of code :
CONCATENATE c_im v_tablefield1 INTO v_imprtfield1.
CONCATENATE v_tablefield1 c_in v_imprtfield1
into s_condition separated by space.
APPEND s_condition TO t_condition.
PERFORM GET_DYNAMIC_ITAB USING s_flds_agtab-tabname
changing t_itab.
ASSIGN t_itab->* TO <itab>.
*Select the data (to be deleted) from the database table
SELECT * FROM (s_flds_agtab-tabname) INTO TABLE <itab>
WHERE (t_condition).
*Delete the records from the table
IF SY-SUBRC = 0.
DELETE (s_flds_agtab-tabname) FROM TABLE <itab>.
ENDIF.
Here t_condition is of standard table of WHERETXT.
t_condition at the run time before giving dump was:
SPART IN IM_SPART
AND KUNNR IN IM_KUNNR
Here IM_SPART is renge type of SPART and IM_KUNNR is renge of KUNNR.
I am getting a DUMP:
The WHERE condition has an unexpected format.
Error analysis
The current ABAP/4 program attempted to execute an ABAP/4 Open SQL
statement containing a WHERE condition of the form WHERE (itab) or
WHERE ... AND (itab). The part of the WHERE condition specified at
runtime in the internal table itab contains the operator
IN (v1, ..., vn)
in incomplete form.
How to correct the error
If the error occurred in a non-modified SAP program, you may be
able to find a solution in the SAP note system.
If you have access to the note system yourself, use the following
search criteria:
"SAPSQL_IN_ILLEGAL_LIST"
"SAPLZSD_TAB_REFRESH " or "LZSD_TAB_REFRESHU01 "
"Z_SD_REFRESH_AGTABLES"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself, please send the
following documents to SAP:
I would like to know whether "IN" operator is allowed in (itab) of WHERE clause. While testing I changed the "IN" to "=" specifying a suitable value there. It worked. So please let me know if i can give "IN" operator using renge table in the dynamic where clause.

SuryaHi again, so if you can not use the IN in a dynamic where clause you might be forced to dynamically build the entire select statement, Here is a sample program which may give you some ideas, notice that we are writing the select statement code, putting it in another program and generating the subroutine at runtime, then call this routine. I'm sure that this will help you see what you need to do.
