From Jframe to applet

Hi everyone.I need to convert graphics from JFrame to Japplet. I am using a class which contains the main method the main method runs the constructor of my class and the constructor creates a new object which is a class that extends to Jframe.I need to make this program to run in an Internet Explorer.Any ideas Please help me guys It is impossible to change the whole program. Thanx in advance.

Your JFrame extended class functionality should be put into the JApplet's
functionality. Probably mostly in the init method.
You could launch JFrames from within an Applet. But I'm not sure why
you wouldn't just migrate everything your JFrame does.

  • How to call an applet from a first applet

    Hi,
    I need to call an applet from a first applet, but I want that the called applet doesn't execute in the same AppletContext than the first one, is it possible?
    If it is, what is the solution?
    Thanks

    Yes, it is possible. One way would be to use static variables.
    class A1 extends Applet
       public static A2 TheOther;
       public A1()
          A2.TheOther = this;
       public void callA2()
          TheOther.doSomething();
    class A2 extends Applet
       public static A1 TheOther;
       public A2()
          A1.TheOther = this;
       public void doSomething()

  • How Lauch a web page html from jframe

    I have one app;
    c:\app\JAVA.jar
    And inside of this folder has a file called help.htm
    c:\app\help.htm
    How can I lauch this page (help.htm) from JFrame (.. maybe an actionPerfomed)?
    I just wanna lauch. The page will be showed on the browser of client.

    What does myFrame.this mean? I looked in the JFrame
    class, and there is no 'this' field listed.
    Shouldn't that just be MyFrame?"this" always refers to the current instance of the current object, right? So instead of:
      setTitle("Hello World");you can do something like:
      this.setTitle("Hello World");(Although, why would you?)
    But, let's suppose you do something like this:
      public class MyClass {
        private String test = "test1";
        private class ThreadEntryPoint implements Runnable {
          private String test = "test2";
          public void run() {
            System.out.println("test = " + this.test);
          ThreadEntryPoint entryPoint = new ThreadEntryPoint();
          entryPoint.run();
          ...Is this going to print test1 or test2? The answer is "test2", since that's the "test" variable defined in the inner class. But, since ThreadEntryPoint was not declared as a static class, if the inner class didn't have a "test" variable, the reference to "test" could refer to the outter variable. If you remove the "test2" variable in the code above, it will still compile and print "test1".
    But what if you wanted to print "test1" without removing "test2"? This is where the mechanism you are inquiring about comes in; it allows you to reference variables in outter classes which are occluded by variables in the inner class. So, you could write something like:
        System.out.println("TheadEntryPoint.test = " + TheadEntryPoint.this.test);
        System.out.println("MyClass.test = " + MyClass.this.test);

    "Unable to execute service EDIT_USER and function addUserAttributes",(System Error: Unable to execute query 'uUsersClassifiedMarkings(UPDATE Users SET uClassifiedMarkings='No Markings'WHERE(uClassifiedMarkings is  null OR uClassifiedMarkings="))'.ORA-00904:"UCLASSIFIEDMARKINGS":invalid Identifier java.sql.SQLSyntaxException: ORA-00904:"UCLASSIFIEDMARKINGS": invalid identifier)
    Kindly let know what is issue or how to resolve this error

    Ok,lets give it a shot. Can you please check if you have any Security Classifications added by navigating to Records->Configure->Security->Security Classification
    If you do not see any entries here, then use the Add button to add the following
    - No Markings
    - Secret
    - Top Secret
    - Confidential
    Now try to update the user info using the admin applet. In the edit window assign Security Classification to "No Markings" and try submitting the update. Let us know what is the outcome.
    I completely agree with William on his analysis. Please try these steps if you are working on a Dev/POC instance.

  • Listening for mouse move from JFrame?

    Hi
    I'm facing a problem when I wanted to use the JFrame's method: addMouseListener( ) to listening for the mouse whether it moves from a JFrame.
    In my code the JFrame containts three components:
    public class NFrame extends JFrame{
    JPanel contentPane = (JPanel)super.getContentPane();
    contentPane.setLayout(new BorderLayout());
    JMenuBar jMenubar=new jMenuBar();
    JTabbedPane jTabPane=new JTabbedPane(JTabbedPane.LEFT,JTabbedPane.WRAP_TAB_LAYOUT);
    JPanel bottonPane=new JPanel();
    contentPane.add(jMenuBar,BorderLayout.NORTH);
    contentPane.add(jTabPane,BorderLayout.CENTER);
    contentPane.add(bottomPane,BorderLayout.SOUTH);
    addMouseListener(new MouseAdapter() {
    public void mouseExited(MouseEvent e) {
    System.out.println("Mouse remove from JFrame");
    Because the JTabbedPane has a default mouse Listener, thus the mouse event is caught by jTabPane and the application does not print the above message when mouse moves from jTabPane.
    Could anybody give me some hints?
    Thanks!

    In this case there should probably not be a sleep()
    at all. You might want to do that sort of thing when
    you have a new thread whose job is to have
    non-GUI-related functionality (like a clock ticking,
    or sprites moving in a game independently). For
    standard GUI interaction, the GUI thread takes care
    of things and you don't need to wait at all. You're
    already waiting, basically.Oh, I see! The OP is doing quite useless things!
    I didn't see such f**lish things in the past!
    The OP should learn the basics for GUI and event mechanism.

  • Sending emails from inside an applet (Please help!)

    Hi all!
    Id like to send an email from inside the applet. For this reason I need to get the Systemproperties, don't I ?
    Properties props = System.getProperties();
    props.put("mail.smtp.host", mailhost);
    ... and set the mail.smtp.host Property my smtp-host.
    But as I try to get the systemproperties from the applet, I get the exception:
    com.ms.security.SecurityExceptionEx[Sendmsg.<init>]: Unable to access system properties.
    Can somebody tell me, how I can solve this problem? Which properties are needed to send mails?
    Does it work, if I just create my Properties, and set only the smtp.host?
    As I continued my experiments, I realised that it is not only the mail.smtp.host property, that is needed by the applet, but java.home, and many more...
    So is it possible to send emails in this form at all??
    Pleeaaaase help, I have to hand in my project very soon!
    Thanks a lot,
    Gabor

  • Is correct? Application (JFrame) to Applet (JApplet)

    I need to convert a java application (JFrame) into an applet (JApplet), and I have seen a few "big steps":
    1: make the class extends to JApplet instead of a JFrame
    2: To replace the construction method by init ()
    3: To comment the main method
    Is correct?, because I have some doubts that later Ill explain
    Thanks

    I think in the init method (in a JApplet) I cannot call the super method. but my problem is how to change this? if in others files (in Files.java) I have calls to super metod, because thus it constructs a dialog box, asking for a file.
    In file Files.java I have a class called "Abort" (extends to JDialog) in whitch:
    /* class Files.java */
    class Abort extends JDialog
              boolean abort = true;
              JTextArea mensage = null;
              JButton acept = new JButton("Acept");
              JButton cancel = new JButton("Cancel");
              Abort(String nanemFile)
                   super(MainClassFile.mainWindow, " Attention!", true);
    /* clas Files.java */Please help

    java.awt.HeadlessException: >That makes sense. It is saying that you cannot open a JFrame in an environment (the server) that does not support GUIs!
    To make this so it will work on the server, it will need to be recoded so that it uses the command line only - no GUI.
    What is it exactly that PinkChartFrame is generated an image of? What does it do? (OK probably 'generate a chart') But what APIs does it use (JFreeChart or such)?

  • Load jar from jar in applet

    hi i made an applet that read xml files.
    i using in jaxp.jar and in parser.jar currently i put them in ext folder in plug in. is there any other way to put them in my jar applet file and to load them from there.

    The xml stuff is one of the optional packages you can install and belongs in the /ext (extension) folder just like you have it. Possibly, this will be integrated in the v1.4 release, but I'm not sure about that. Anyway, my best advice for you is to follow the instructions Sun gives on exactly this situation:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/guide/extensions/extensions.html
    Also on this page is a link to Optional Package Versioning that I highly recommend you read, as it details how the v1.3 plug-in will automatically install the xml jars on the client machine for you. It doesn't get any easier than this! :-)

  • Create Image from Stream in Applet via Servlet

    First of all, I apologize if this isn't posted to the proper forum, as I am dealing with several topics here. I think this is more of an Image and I/O problem than Applet/Servlet problem, so I thought this forum would be most appropriate. It's funny...I've been developing Java for over 4 years and this is my first post to the forums! :D
    The problem is I need to retrieve a map image (JPEG, GIF, etc) from an Open GIS Consortium (OGC) Web Map Server (WMS) and display that image in an OpenMap Applet as a layer. Due to the security constraints on Applets (e.g., can't connect to a server other than that from which it originated), I obviously just can't have the Applet create an ImageIcon from a URL. The OpenMap applet will need to connect to many remote WMS compliant servers.
    The first solution I devised is for the applet to pass the String URL to a servlet as a parameter, the servlet will then instantiate the URL and also create the ImageIcon. Then, I pass the ImageIcon back to the Applet as a serialized object. That works fine...no problems there.
    The second solution that I wanted to try was to come up with a more generic and reusable approach, in which I could pass a URL to a servlet, and simply return a stream, and allow the applet to process that stream as it needs, assuming it would know what it was getting from that URL. This would be more usable than the specific approach of only allowing ImageIcon retrieval. I suppose this is actually more of a proxy. The problem is that the first few "lines" of the image are fine (the first array of buffered bytes, it seems) but the rest is garbled and pixelated, and I don't know why. Moreover, the corruption of the image differs every time I query the server.
    Here are the relevant code snippets:
    =====================Servlet====================
        /* Get the URL String from the request parameters; This is a WMS
         * HTTP request such as follows:
         * http://www.geographynetwork.com/servlet/com.esri.wms.Esrimap?
         *      VERSION=1.1.0&REQUEST=GetMap&SRS=EPSG:4326&
         *      BBOX=-111.11361,3.5885315,-48.345818,71.141304&
         *      HEIGHT=480&...more params...
         * It returns an image (JPEG, JPG, GIF, etc.)
        String urlString =
            URLDecoder.decode(request.getParameter("wmsServer"),
                              "UTF-8");
        URL url = new URL(urlString);
        log("Request parameter: wmsServer = " + urlString);
        //Open and instantiate the streams
        InputStream urlInputStream = url.openStream();
        BufferedInputStream bis = new
            BufferedInputStream(urlInputStream);
        BufferedOutputStream bos = new
            BufferedOutputStream(response.getOutputStream());
        //Read the bytes from the in-stream, and immediately write them
        //out to the out-stream
        int read = 0;
        byte[] buffer = new byte[1024];
        while((read = bis.read(buffer, 0, buffer.length)) != -1) {
            bos.write(buffer, 0, buffer.length);
        //Flush and close
        bos.flush();
        urlInputStream.close();
        bis.close();
        bos.close();
        .=====================Applet=====================
        //Connect to the Servlet
        URLConnection conn = url.openConnection();
        conn.setUseCaches(false);
        conn.setRequestProperty("header", "value");
        conn.setDoOutput(true);
        //Write the encoded WMS HTTP request
        BufferedWriter out =
            new BufferedWriter( new OutputStreamWriter(
                conn.getOutputStream() ) );
        out.write("wmsServer=" + URLEncoder.encode(urlString, "UTF-8"));
        out.flush();
        out.close();
        //Setup the streams to process the servlet response
        BufferedInputStream bis = new
            BufferedInputStream(conn.getInputStream());
        ByteArrayOutputStream bos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
        //Read the bytes and immediately write to the out-stream
        int read = 0;
        byte[] buffer = new byte[1024];
        while((read = bis.read(buffer, 0, buffer.length)) != -1) {
            bos.write(buffer, 0, buffer.length);
        //Flush and close
        bis.close();</code>
        bos.flush();</code>
        byte[] imageBytes = bos.toByteArray();
        //Create the Image/ImageIcon
        Toolkit tk = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit();
        Image image = tk.createImage(imageBytes);
        imageIcon = new ImageIcon(image);
        Could this be an offset problem in my buffers? Is there some sort of encoding/decoding I am missing somewhere?
    Thanks!
    Ben

    Without having a probing look, I was wondering why you do the following...
    while((read = bis.read(buffer, 0, buffer.length)) != -1) {
    bos.write(buffer, 0, buffer.length);
    while((read = bis.read(buffer, 0, buffer.length)) != -1) {
    bos.write(buffer, 0, buffer.length);
    }Your int 'read' holds the number of bytes read in but you then specify buffer.length in your write methods?!? why not use read? otherwise you will be writing the end of the buffer to your stream which contains random memory addresses. I think thats right anyway...

  • Need help reading files from a simple applet

    hi everyone,
    i have the following problem while trying to read from a file:
    java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission dr.xml read)
    this problem shows up only when loading applet from a browser... if i use appletviewer everithing is ok.
    this is the code:
            cycle = new String[2];
            phase = new String[8];
            v = new Vector();
            int temp;
            try {
                try {
                    fis = new FileInputStream("dr.xml");
                    while ((temp = fis.read()) > 0) {
                        buf += (char) temp;
                    fis.close();
                    fis = null;
                } catch (java.io.FileNotFoundException ex) {
                    System.out.println("File does not exist. ");
            } catch (java.io.IOException ex) {
                System.out.println("error. ");
                ex.printStackTrace();
            }thanks

    You don't have access to the file system. Think about it, you visit a web page and an applet starts reading your files? That's a HUGE security risk.
    That said, I think you can do this if you have a signed/trusted applet. Google "signed applets" and "certificates"

  • Removing title bar from JFrame after it isDisplayable

    I know if a frame is not in a Displayable mode, ie not visible you can remove the title bar from the frame with myFrame.setUndecorate(true) in JDK 1.4.0, but I was wondering if you can remove the title bar from the jframe once it is displayed, and conversly if already removed, can you add the title bar back to the jframe. If there is no java solution, is there a jni solution.

    if you remove the title bar from a JFrame, wouldn't you be create a JWindow?
