Frustrated about Sync and Outlook!

I am new to the DInc and I’m using the provided HTC Sync with Outlook 2007.  I went through the effort of transferring all my contacts from my lotus notes (company) to Outlook (non-company supported but easier to transfer).  I even took pictures of friends and coworkers from various sources and put them in either to the phone contact list, or to the Outlook contact list (depending on where the photo was located.  Now, seemingly completely random, these pictures are getting lost.  Calendar doesn’t seem to synch the way it should, if I enter an item into the Outlook Calendar, it doesn’t necessarily transfer.  I’m about to lose my cool and throw my **bleep** DInc in the trash.  Has anyone else experienced this crap?

Wow... just gets more and more fun.  called Verizon, they don't support Sync please call HTC.  Called HTC... there's no known issue with synch, but there is a new version of sync coming out in a few weeks that may help fix "my problem".  Then suggested I do a Microsoft Office online check up to make sure my Office is working alright.  I guess this shouldn't surprise me.

  • Question about syncing and un-syncing

i accidentally synced all my pictures to my ipod and i only want a couple. how do i delete the pictures i dont want on there? I used to have a zune so i am way new to this stuff. thanks in advance

Remove the photo from the folder that you linked to when you set the preference "synchronize photos from" and update the iPod. For example, if the iPod is getting the pictures from the folder "My Pictures," remove or delete them from My Pictures and sync your iPod.
Here's a simple "How To" on downloading and managing photos from a folder on your hard disk to an iPod:
1 Create a folder on your hard drive to hold the photos you want on your iPod. Call it iPod Photos for example
2 Drag the photos you want from your usual picture folder into the folder you just created
2 Open iTunes, select your iPod in the iTunes Source list.
3 Click the Photos tab and select “Synch photos from.”
4 Choose “Choose Folder” from the pop-up menu and select the iPod photos folder you created.
5 When you want to change what photos are on the iPod just add or remove the photos from the folder you have made and syncronise the the iPod

  • Difference between Sync and Backup?

I've asked AppleCare but can't seem to get an understandable answer. Maybe someone can help here.
What is the difference between doing a Backup and doing a Sync via iTunes on your computer for either your iPad or iPhone?
    Thanks,
    Steven

Here is a portion of the support article mentioned above. The way I can personally understand it is that the sync transfers the content back and forth and a backup is created when you perform the sync. This talks in terms of the iPod and iPhone but it works the same for the iPad.
    About Syncing and Backups
You can use iTunes to sync content on your computer (such as music, applications, podcasts, videos, ringtones, photos, notes, email account settings, contacts, calendars, and bookmarks) with your iPhone or iPod touch (Note: Some content is available only on iPhone and some features require iOS 2.0 or later software). Syncing makes sure this content is the same on your iPhone or iPod touch and computer.
iTunes creates a backup of your iPhone or iPod touch when you sync, which you can then use to restore from if you need to return to a previously backed-up state. You can use a backup to transfer this information to a new device, except for some specific exceptions noted in parenthesis below. With iOS 4 and later, if you encrypt the backup it can transfer the keychain items (passwords, credentials) to a new device.
If you protect your iPhone or iPod touch with a passcode, you will be prompted to enter the passcode when you connect to iTunes. Once you successfully enter the passcode, iTunes will recognize that device as authorized and you will not need your passcode to back up or sync. When restoring from an iOS 4 (or later) backup, if the device had a passcode set, iTunes will ask if you want to set a passcode (and remind you that you had protected your device with a passcode.) iTunes will not ask you to set a passcode when restoring from iOS 3.x and prior backups.
iTunes only keeps one backup created during the sync process for each device. If you restore the iPhone or iPod touch and choose to set up as a new device from the Set Up your iPhone (or iPod touch) screen, iTunes will automatically sync and create a new, empty backup that will replace your previous backup. If you change your mind and want to restore to your previous state, you will have to retrieve your previous device backup from Time Machine (on your Mac), or other backup solution you regularly use. If you have Mac OS X 10.5.5 or later and use Time Machine, you may use Time Machine to find a previous backup.

Hoping for some help with a very frustrating issue!
I have been syncing calendar and contacts on my iPhone 5 and Outlook 2007 using iCloud  2.1.3 (my PC is running Vista). All was well until the events I entered on the phone were showing up in Outlook, but not the other way around. I’ve tried the usual recommended steps: deselecting calendar and contacts in the iCloud control panel and then re-selecting, signing out of the panel and back in, and repairing the Outlook installation in control panel.  I even uninstalled iCloud on the PC and downloaded it again (same version).
The furthest I’ve gotten is step 2 (and once, step 3) of 7 while performing “Outlook Setup For iCloud.” At that point I get, “Your setup couldn’t be started because of an unexpected error.”  After the first attempt at all this, all my calendar events disappeared from Outlook, although they are still in iCloud calendar and on my phone.
Sound familiar?  Any ideas on how to solve this iCloud/Outlook issue?  Thanks much in advance!

  • HT1692 Have recently installed itunes and outlook on a new computer.  Have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook tho only use contacts and calendar in relation to one of these. Cannot sync itunes with the correct contacts and calendars, Help!

My new computer is 64-bit running Windows 7 pro, SP1 and Microsoft Office 2010 Pro Plus 32-bit
My phone is a 4S runing iOS 6.1.3
Very frustrated now that I have recently installed itunes and outlook on this new computer.  Everything worked perfectly ok on my laptop which was also 64-bit Windows 7 and running 32-bit Microsoft Office 2010 Pro.  I have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook tho only use contacts and calendar in relation to one of these. Cannot sync itunes with the correct contacts and calendars, when I sync the calendar and contacts are empty.  Not sure if there is any way to point itunes to particular address books and calendars.
I have installed and uninstalled itunes 3 times and thank goodness have a backup
    Can anyone help please?
    thanks in anticipation

I had my home computer set up to sync to work's Exchange server. It worked well, but I didn't like seeing work email messages and other programs trying to sync with my default Outlook folder, which was then the Exchange (& work related) .ost file. I know there are various ways to manage those problems using filters, view, subfolders, etc., but it was a hassle for me. I think it could work well for many other folks.
For now, I have published my work calendar and subscribed to that calendar on my home computer. So I have view only access to my calendar on my home computer (and I can add/edit calendar items on my iPad (or Outlook Web Access) when away from work). This is not quite what I wanted, but it may work.
It almost makes me long for the days when I used my Windows Mobile Treo to sync back and forth between exchange at work and outlook at home (but had many sync conflicts as a result).

  • How can I sync both Outlook (through Exchange) and iCal with my iPhone???

I recently added my Outlook account via MS Exchange to my iPhone to access my email and outlook calendar. At this time I could still sync iCal as well, and I could chose to view either one, or both calendars at the same time, on my iphone. Then for some reason, about a week later I could only see my outlook calendar on my iPhone.
Now when I try and sync my iCal again, it doesn't even come up as an option in iTunes. I can turn stop pushing the data for Outlook on my phone and sync with iCal again, but then I loose all of my Outlook appointments. It seems now that I can only have one or the other!

If you are accessing an Exchange account via ActiveSync or a MobileMe account with over the air syncing enabled for contact info and calendar events, you can't sync contact info and calendar events direct with a supported application on a computer via the iTunes sync process. You can do one or the other, not both at the same time.
You can sync your business Exchange contact info and calendar events over the air and personal contact info and calendar events over the air with a MobileMe account at the same time. You can view contact info and calendar events combined with both, or view contact info and calendar events with each separately.

  • Sync Multiple Outlook contact and calendar folders

We have multiple Outlook contact and calendar folders in Outlook (Work and Personal). Is it possible to sync multiple folders to the iPhone?

The problem is excactly what I just found out while trying to sync my new N97, which I also bought for the reason, it was said to be able to sync my outlook contacts (etc.). But sorry, just syncing one folder nearly equals to it cannot sync at all. I am really upset, to see the lack of this function to such a sophisticated mobile and software. (The mobile cannot do nothing about it, it is a problem of PC Suite. But the mobile worth only so much, as it is supported by the software!)
To add to blutarskys request, it is not only used in business, that people have folders in Outlook contacts. Hello, it is the most convenient way, to organize groups of contacts, like family, friends, colleagues, support, etc. pp. Myriads of people use that function as it is one of the most basic functions.
So please Nokia, launch this feature up asap. It is deeply requested.
Without, N97 is of no use for me. I still cannot believe, it is not possible. I still just hope someone will state, that we just overlooked it.
    Kind regards.

  • I use a Win7 PC with iCloud and Outlook 2010 for syncing my calendar and contacts. I can enter data in my Outlook Calendar and it will appear in iCloud, but data entered in iCloud does not sync back to Outlook.  ICloud syncs to my iphone fine both ways.

I use Win 7 PC with iCloud and Outlook 2010 for syncing my Contacts and Calendar.  They have stopped syncing...mostly.
Now, appointments I enter on my local Outlook (iCloud) Calendar goes up to iCloud fine.  But, data I enter on iCloud directly does not come down to my local Outlook iCloud Calendar.  If I reboot the computer, the iCloud data shows up.
Also, Contacts I try to enter on my Outlook (iCloud) Contacts goes up to iCloud fine, but does not show up in my local iCloud Contacts.
All syncing works with my iPhone.
I have signed out of iCloud on PC.  I have stopped syncing and re-started.  No change.
I have an .aplzod folder for iCloud.  I have a separate Earthlink.net.pst email account in Outlook and a me.com.pst Outlook email account (which I don't actually use) listed under Data Files.
Any help would be appreciated.  Curious that Outlook will upload to iCloud but not receive downloads unless I reboot.  However, rebooting does not download the missing Contacts.

    Hi Jim!
You've started off with some good troubleshooting steps, so let's see if we can take this a little further and figure out what the issue is with your iCloud contacts and calendars. I have two articles here that will help you troubleshoot this issue a little further, but the troubleshooting steps for both articles are exactly the same, so I will lay those out for you here:
Note: When using iCloud Control Panel 2.0 and later, iCloud Calendar event descriptions in Outlook 2010 do not support text formatting (bold, italics, or underline), HTML, images, or attachments. The contextual (right-click) menu has also been disabled.
If you are having trouble with a PC (with Outlook 2007 or 2010) and iCloud Calendar, try each of these steps, testing after each to see if the issue is resolved:
Verify that you are using a Windows configuration that is supported by iCloud. For more information, see iCloud system requirements.
When enabling Calendars in the iCloud Control Panel, part of the setup process is to copy your Calendars data from the default Outlook ".pst" file to iCloud, and then remove the Calendars from the ".pst" file by placing them in the Deleted Items folder in Outlook. The Calendars data is then stored in the iCloud data set within Outlook so that changes can be pushed to and from Outlook by iCloud. Be sure you are looking for your data within the iCloud dataset within Outlook after enabling Calendars in the iCloud Control Panel. The deleted files can be seen by viewing Deleted Items within your Outlook Folder List. This is not iCloud removing your data; iCloud simply copies your data into the iCloud data set and then removes the local Calendars data by placing it in the Deleted Items folder.
Make sure your computer is online. Attempt to view www.apple.com and iCloud.com. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud calendars and events will not update in Outlook. Click here for more information about troubleshooting your Internet connection.
Open a secure website to test if you are online as is necessary for iCloud Calendar. This also tests if the ports 80 and 443 are accessible. Outlook requires port 443 access to iCloud in order to push and pull updates to and from the iCloud Calendar servers.
Verify that your iCloud member name is entered into the iCloud Control Panel pane. See iCloud Setup for more information about setting up iCloud on Windows.
Completely close and reopen the iCloud Control Panel.
If you recently made changes in Outlook and they are not moving to your other devices or vice-versa, click the Refresh button in Outlook.
Turn iCloud Calendar off and back on:
    Close Outlook.
    Open the Windows Control Panel:
In Windows 8, move the pointer to the upper-right corner of the screen to show the Charms bar, click the Search charm, and then click the iCloud Control Panel on the left.
In Windows 7 and Vista, choose Start menu > All Programs > iCloud > iCloud.
Remove the checkmark in the checkbox next to Mail, Contacts, Calendars & Tasks, and click Apply. Wait a few seconds, then replace the checkmark, and click Apply.
Open Outlook and test to see if the issue has been resolved.
Ensure the iCloud Outlook Add-in is active within Outlook.
    Outlook 2010:
    Open Outlook 2010.
    Click the File menu.
Click Options in the left panel of the Outlook window.
Click Add-Ins in the left panel of the Outlook Options window.
Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and verify that the "iCloud Outlook Add-in" is listed.
For Outlook 2007, follow these steps to verify the iCloud Outlook Add-in is active
    Open Outlook 2007.
From the Tools menu, choose Trust Center.
Select Add-ins from the left column.
Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and verify that the "iCloud Outlook Add-in" is listed.
For additional information about managing Add-ins with Microsoft Outlook, see this Microsoft support document.
Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it does reinitialize your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.

  • N86 no longer syncs with Outlook Calendar and Task

I have been having much troubles with syncing my N86 (recently updated to 30.009 firmware) to my Outlook 2003 with Ovi Suite 2.1.1.1.
At first, the Contacts kept duplicating themselves.  I have about 1000 contacts in my Outlook, but Ovi Suite (and my N86 device) ends up sometimes with 1800 contacts -- of which 800 are duplicates.  This is very annoying and time consuming to clean up of course.  I have discovered that the problem is somehow linked to Ovi.com.  I have since turned off syncing to Ovi.com and only keep my N86 device in sync with Outlook and Ovi Suite.  But that wasn't before I had to basically delete all my contacts from the N86 device and from Ovi Suite, followed by a sync to Outlook.
Around this same time, I have noticed that my N86 device was missing appointments that I had entered into Outlook 2003.  I discovered that the N86 device no longer syncs to Outlook through Ovi Suite.  I keep getting the error message "Sync Canceled -- Could not sync calendar items and tasks. Plug the USB cable into your device again or connect via Bluetooth. Then sync again."  I did reconnect my N86 device but the same error message shows each time.  Basically, Ovi Suite has stopped syncing Calendar items with my N86 device now.
Can anyone suggest what might have gone wrong?  Has anyone else experienced this problem?  What can I do to get my calendar items back into my device?

  • Syncing with Outlook, faulty and unsuccessful

I have read through some of the posts, and apologize if I missed one with the same problem I am having.  I was disappointed getting my Z10 initially when I wasn't able to sync with my outlook Calendar and Contacts.  However, that was quickly changed and is available on Link now.  However, I have a number of issues with it.  At the risk of putting too much detail, I have tried different settings for the sync, using the device as the main or the computer as the main source.  I have the latest version of Link, and have removed and reinstalled that software.  I also bought a new laptop a couple weeks ago, and attempted on this machine, only to have the same problems.  so here is a list of the issues I continue to have.
    Calendar:
The most recent attempt, some of the data off my outlook calendar made it to my z10 but none of the information on my z10 went to the outlook calendar.
    Contacts.
Creates duplicates of some contacts on both z10 and computer
removed email addresses..  to do this, it created a duplicate address in my z10 than kept only that duplicate with incomplete information in the outlook contact file
Crossed information between two contacts with similar names.
In some of the contacts again on both z10 and computer, created a duplicate of information inside the contact itself, without creating a duplicate contact.  (  ie, if contact had two phone numbers and 2 email addresses, it now has duplicates showing 4 phone numbers and 4 emails,... other information also duplicated inside the contact)
Before I got the z10 I was able to flawlessly sync between my phone my playbook and my outlook file on my laptop.  My current issues don't even address the lack of sync between the playbook and outlook now.
are these issues others have seen or experienced.  Is it operator error or is there a bug somewhere.
Thanks in advance for any and all help

I have the same problem with Q10 I just purchased this last week. Blackberry Link is the worst application I have used. Is Blackberry going to do anything about it? They should if they want to increase their sales, if the product is not working it puts a bad light on Blackberry. Please Blackberry do something, I want to see your success!!! THe current Blackberry LINK still has alot of bugs that MUST be fixed.....
    1. Performance very very slow hours to process
    2. incorrect or duplicated entries 3. unable to update both device and outlook, no choices
    4. unable to sync task and memos.

  • No Sync with Imac and Outlook for mac 2011

    Hello,
just bought a new bb torch, but it does not synchronise with outloop (office for mac 2011).
    no contacts, no agenda.
I can not choose which agenda/contacts.
It looks like the Torch goes to the standard email progam of Imac and not to Outlook.
The only contacts are the standard contacts from addressbook imac.
    thanks in advance,
    rob

I have just discovered the same thing - if you do a search around the topic you will find it confirmed that the only thing that will sync with Outlook for Mac is contacts.
I've just moved everything over from a PC to a Mac and so to find it not working is so frustrating.

I've never posted on a forum, but I'm at my wits end...!  I've been trying to get my Palm Centro to sync Contacts/Calendar/Memos to Outlook 2007 on my new laptop for a week now with no success.  It used to sync just fine to my old computer with Windows XP and Outlook 2003.  Then that computer crashed (my Outlook files were backed up on an external harddrive).  I received my new computer with Windows 7 XP (32-bit) and Outlook 2007.  I've downloaded the Palm Desktop 6.2, Windows 2007 Conduit, and Software Update 1.03 (Windows installer) for Centro for Verizon.

I've ready about 3rd party software in posts (Pocket Mirror), but I don't know if it applies here because the Contact/Calendar/Memo information is in my Centro - not in Outlook.  I need to get it from my Centro to Outlook 2007.

Sorry hat, the Centro has absolutely nothing in common with a webOS device!  It runs PalmOS.  Nice of you to reply with your suggestion though!

Something I noticed in your post - you installed Palm 6.2.2 AND the 2007 conduit.  Palm Desktop 6.2.2. has the 2007 conduits built into it already, and the patch is not needed.  Whether this is the cause of your problems, I'm not sure, but I've fielded several posts of the same issue where the user did the same thing you did!
I'd suggest doing a clean uninstall, and reinstall of Palm Desktop 6.2.2 only.
I admit, I do not use Outlook, nor Win7, so I'm giving you my best guess at a way to solve your problem.  Hopefully, this may lead to a solution!

  • Syncing issues between iPhone and Outlook 2003

After syncing my iPhone with my Outlook contacts, I realized that some of my contacts were doubling up - both in Outlook and on the iPhone. Per a friend's instructions, I had to go in and manually delete the doubles in Outlook and did the same thing on my iPhone. It's been about a week now since I last synced and suddenly I started realizing that more and more of my contacts are missing!! Is there anything i can do to retrieve them?
    Thank you!

I have experienced the same problem with Outlook 2007 and the most recent i phone purchased late last year. Have you had a succesful reply as i do not want to delete my duplicates just to have the same problem repeat itself again?
