Frustrating syntax error:cfqueryparam

I must be brain dead. I have been looking at this code for about 45 minutes trying to figure out where the syntax error is. I think it is in one of the "," but I have rearranged them so many times I am going bonkers. Can someone find where my error is.

Hey Dan. Thanks for the tips yesterday. I went back to the version of the code when it worked. The working code is at the top. The non-working code is at the bottom. It starts not working when I include the CFIF's. I am not sure I understand your other suggestion. But maybe if you take a look at the difference between the working code and the other you can see what I don't.

    Please advise. I got frustrated with such a silly question. Anybody can help me to resolve it.
    Patrick

    INSERT INTO TRANSLOG ( userid, booktitle, date, amount ) VALUES (?,?,?,?)I don't have Access on my computer at home here, but it is quite possible that "date" is a reserved word in Access's version of SQL. If you can change the column name, I'd recommend you do that. Otherwise try changing your SQL code to this:
    INSERT INTO TRANSLOG ( userid, booktitle, [date], amount ) VALUES (?,?,?,?)
    But be warned that this [trick] doesn't work with other databases.

  • Syntax Error in Update Statement

    Would a smart and kind CF pro mind putting a fresh pair of
    eyes on this code and tell me where the syntax error is? All the
    fields in the statement are numeric except the last one (comments).
    I have enclosed them in val() to ensure they are numeric when

  • WebHelp js syntax error

    Hello All,
         I am getting what, as far as I can tell, is a random javascript error. When I hit save/generate to create WebHelp Pro output locally (still in testing right now), I occasionally get an error that when viewed states, "whtopic.js syntax error, line 2098, expected char. 1". If I open this js file in visual studio, line 2098 is blank. Any ideas on why this would randomly occur?
    Thanks

    Thanks to both of you. To clarify, yes the output skin is generated, but the main body of the browser is blank with a cycling (it flashes on and off) javascript error in the bottom bar of the browser. It's hard to show a screenshot of that. It does not seem to be one specific topic that I was most recently working on that is causing the issue. As I previously stated it seems to be random, which is frustrating. Also, using Rh 10, but I'm limited to Window's XP and IE 8, which I'm sure could be part of the unreliablity issue.
    I appreciate the feedback

    Any recomendations?

    Date/Time in Access provide some pretty strage hurdles. In
    many occassions I have simply changed the field to a Text field and
    ran with that and never seemed to have problems with the result. I
    didn't like doing it but I never received errors. I have been
    receiving some parameter errors with <cfqueryparam> like the
    database doesn't recognized the preceding declared field in the
    update or insert query. Here is an example of a wierd error with
    Access. I have 2 tables. One is for estimate numbers and the other
    is for sub estimate numbers that can be assigned to specific
    estimate numbers. If is actually a complicated explanation about
    what is taking place behind the doors on this. The concept is
    simple on the surface. Both tables have the same fields except the
    subestimate table has 1 extra for a user defined subestimate
    number. The only relation between the two will be the estimate
    number. This insert works fine.

    This next one is the same exact query with the same table
    setup with one added field but kicks back a parmeter error
    expecting 4. I can't explain it.

    IF I get rid of the cfqueryparam fields it works. If I simply
    remove the param, I get a Syntax error. Needless to say I commented
    this query for the sake of sanity for the time being.

  • "Syntax error in the MDX statement " in Process chain failure??Urgent pls

    Hi Experts,
    could any one suggest me the procedure to rectify the below problems in process chain?
    1."Syntax error in the MDX statement "
    2."Error when getting data (Error when getting data (AXI))"
    Rgds,

    In which case it'll be that Access has a different date format to MySQL, and you're trying to push the string "'25-Apr-12 10:55 PM" into Access, which it's not understanding. To get around this, you need to treat your variable as a true date/time object, rather than a formatted string.
    CFQueryParams should be used on absolutely every database platform, they'll stop your website being vulnerable to SQL Injection attacks for one, which at the moment you're wide open to. Replace your query with something like this:
    <cfquery name="input_comments" datasource="#DSN#" username="#DSNUSER#" password="#DSNPASS#">
          INSERT INTO comments(
                             commenter,
                             comment,
                             datetime,
                             post_id
                   VALUES(
                             <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_varchar" value="#form.commenter#" />,
                             <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_varchar" value="#form.comment#" />,
                             now(),
                             <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_numeric" value="#form.post_id#" /> )
    </cfquery>
    The QueryParams will handle the data types for you, and should pass values around more safely and with fewer issues. Assuming you just want to store the current date and time you don't even need to get ColdFusion involved, as databases have their own functions for this. I believe Access' version is simply NOW(), so I've put that in your query.
    Give the above a go.

    <cfquery name="update1" datasource="trevor_SecurityDB">

    Perhaps it is a reserved word issue with the date column,
    since
    date is an ODBC Reserved Keyword. You might try enclosing it
    within brackets [ ].
    <cfquery name="update1" datasource="trevor_SecurityDB">
    INSERT INTO imagesproducts
    (title, info, [date])
    VALUES ( '#form.title#', '#form.info#', '#DateFormat(Now())#'
    </cfquery>
    Or, if that doesn't help, you might try using a cfqueryparam
    tag for the '#DateFormat(Now())#' value using a cfsqltype =
    "CF_SQL_TIMESTAMP" (assuming a date/time datatype on the column).
    Also, you might look into using one of the CreateODBCDateTime() or
    CreateODBCDate() functions.

  • Second call of an SQL query throws a syntax error?

    Private Sub RefreshDataSet()
    Dim strSQL As String = DataAdapter1.SelectCommand.CommandText
    Try
    DataSet1.Clear()
    DataAdapter1.SelectCommand.CommandText() = Trim(strSQL & " WHERE BadgeID = " & strEmployeeBadge)
    DataAdapter1.Fill(DataSet1)
    Catch ex As Exception
    MsgBox(ex.Message)
    End Try
    End Sub
    When I call the above procedure, the sub does work correctly and I get the expected results / records in the dataset.  But, when I call the Sub again (to refresh the dataset) it gives me an "incorrect syntax" error.
    I'm not sure why it is doing this.  Any suggestions or ideas?

    Youjun,
    It's very frustrating when you keep asking if the code is the same, or if I have tested the code.  I've said that I debugged.. I've said I have tested the code.  Your continuing to ask me this is pointless, rude, and only serves to make YOU look
    stupid.  I'm sorry if that is rude, but please stop asking me!
    To respond:
    I supposed that the original DataAdapter1.SelectCommand.CommandText is "select * from table1"
    -Yes, the base command is similar to this, except that I call each database field, not using the *.
    1) When you run it the first time, the DataAdapter1.SelectCommand.CommandText will be "select * from table1 WHERE BadgeID ='123'".
    -Yes, I append 'WHERE BadgeID = XXX' to the query, the first and
    each subsequent time.  Again, I said that the code/call/syntax DOES NOT CHANGE.  It is the
    same every time.
    2) Then you changed the strEmployeeBadge, I supposed that is '234'
    -NO!  I do NOT change the code!!  I'm sorry, but what part of 'the query is
    exactly the same' is unclear?
    3) when you run it next time, the DataAdapter1.SelectCommand.CommandText will change to "select * from table1 WHERE BadgeID ='123'
    WHERE BadgeID = '234'"
    -NO!  I have specifically tested for this
    and as stated, the SQL syntax does not change!
    So it 'syntax' fail will pop out when second call.
    -NO, your assumptions are INCORRECT.
    I suggest you recording the commandText when first change the DataAdapter1.
    I write a testing program for you.
    -Your 'testing program' is for all purposes, the same exact code as what I used.  There is no difference.
    Now, as also stated before, I have several other instances
    where I use the same 'technique' to amend the base SQL queries of the DataAdapter.  Each of these other instances work fine, and I use them to 'refresh' my DataSet information several times throughout the running of my program.  Just for some
    reason, this time, it does not work.  I don't know why and was hoping someone else had found the same/similar issue and also found a resolution.  The DataAdapter is configured the same as the others, the code is the same as well.  I will just
    have to find a work around, or other way to do what I want I guess.
    Lastly, yes, I set strSQL in the subroutine because I want that variable to be gone at the end of the procedure.  It recalls, then sets the syntax, every time the Sub is called on purpose.  I do not want strSQL to be 'global', which by the way,
    according to Microsoft documentation I have read, is no longer possible.  Global variables are 'technically' not used/recognized anymore.  If this has changed, then I stand corrected.
    Thank you for responding, I will just find another solution I guess.

  • Agilent 1100 syntax error

    Hello.
    I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place...
    I'm trying to hook up an Agilent 1100 system to a computer via ethernet and control it through labview with the ag1100 drivers.
    I've managed to get the computer to talk to the system and assign it an IP-address but when I run the pump example VI it returns "Error 10000501 syntax error".
    I haven't been able to find and documentation about this error code and since it's a proprietary driver I cannot open up the VI that's causing the trouble (the configure pump one). The pump in the system is a G1311A that should be supported by the drivers.
    Very thankful for any kind of help, I'm totally stuck here...

    Thank you so much!!!
    good thinking!
    I purchased refurbished equipment without really knowing that i could control it with labview, seeing the error and knowing that the VI's are locked leaves pure frustration
    I am going to try this on monday, i am really crossing my fingers

  • N1SM 1.3.3 OS Load gives syntax error and drops into interactive install

    Hi
    I am trying to load Solaris 10 u4 onto a T1000 and a X4100.
    This is my first installation of N1SM.
    When I give the load command the T1000 will boot off the network, but after a while I very
    briefly see a syntax error and a line about using US Keyboards, then the installation goes
    into interactive mode rather than unattended.
    This is very frustrating.
    Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be going wrong?
    I have installed N1SM on Solaris 10 U4 x86 and have the recommended patch bundle installed.
    Thanks

    No ... it will stay as IDR (Interim Diagnostic Relief - http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=IDR+site%3Asun.com ) afaik
    If you want it, ask Sun for it ... official patch will not be released for it yet ... and I wouldn't count on official patch so soon ...
    If you have a support for N1SM ... ask for the IDR , it's no. is IDR137229-01 (x86) & IDR137228-01 (sparc) , not sure about the linux one ...

  • TempInit, Line 2, Column 14     1086: Syntax error: expecting semicolon before minus.

    Hey! First time posting here, I am a student taking classes on flash. I use Flash CC and obviously AS3. I've got a project I am working on, and have encountered a very frustrating problem. I have emailed my teacher but I thought I would ask around the web as well.
    I get a compiler error saying:
    tempInit, Line 2, Column 14
    1086: Syntax error: expecting semicolon before minus.
    I have tried commenting out the entire script, and I still get the same error. The weird thing is there is nothing on line 2, column 14. Line two simply reads:
    stop();
    I've also considered that I had some symbols named after keywords or with illegal characters that could somehow be causing this issue. It turns out I did, so I changed all suspected items to more appropriate names. Yet even after I did this, the error persists. I cannot find any other explanation as to why this error occurs at this point, hence why I am turning to the internet.
    A notable factor here is that I have imported items from illustrator cs5, some of which had illustrator symbols included. These were the culprits with the first issue of illegal and keyword names; examples: "Mountain1-2" and "New Symbol"
    Many thanks,
    Lee

  • Syntax error while writing a select query.

    Hi all,
    I have a requirement where I have to pick a value if the text for that value is
    MYCARu2019S Lovliest Car.
    And so I wrote a query that
    SELECT     RUECK INTO XRUECK FROM AFVC WHERE ltxa1 = ' MYCARu2019S Lovliest Car'.
                    ENDSELECT.
    But it gives me a syntax error saying
    u201CLiterals taking up more than one line not permittedu201D.
    Can some one tell me what is wrong. I need to select RUECK value from AFVC  table if
    ltxa1 value is ' MYCARu2019S Lovliest Car'.
    Kindly help what is going wrong...
    Regards,
    Jessica Sam

    Hi,
    Narendran is right use two single quotes.
    also careful wile comparing string. i think as you write ltxa1 value is ' MYCARu2019S Lovliest Car'.
    so while comparing you must not use space just before staring use the following
    SELECT  rueck INTO xrueck FROM afvc WHERE ltxa1 = 'MYCAR''S Lovliest Car'. " Not use Space before M
    ENDSELECT.
    Hope will help you.
    Kind Regards,
    Faisal

  • Select-options in SELECT query - syntax error

    Hi all,
      I get the error below when I try to use the select options in a SELECT query . Please help me.
    "The IN operator with "SO_AWART" is followed neither by an internal
    table nor by a value list."
    The code i have used(Logical database  PNP is used):
    TABLES: pernr,
            catsdb.
    INCLUDE ztime_cwtr_top.    " global Data
    INCLUDE ztime_cwtr_f01.
    SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF BLOCK B1 WITH FRAME.
    SELECT-OPTIONS SO_AWART FOR CATSDB-AWART.
    PARAMETERS P_THRES TYPE I.
    SELECTION-SCREEN END OF BLOCK B1.
    Get data from CATSDB table. Workdates within the date interval are considered.
      SELECT pernr workdate awart catsquantity beguz enduz status
      FROM catsdb
      INTO TABLE it_catsdb
      WHERE pernr  = pernr-pernr    AND
           workdate GE pn-begda     AND
           workdate LE pn-endda     AND
           status   IN ('20', '30') AND
           awart    IN  so_awart .

                      '1147', '1148', '1149', '1157', '2003' ).
    when I give the values directly i do not get any syntax error, but when I use select options in the where condition I get the syntax error.
    I have tried different options like using only the select-options in the where condition.
    Thanks in advance.....
    Madhu

    Solved.
    Code with syntax error:
    include z...top .
    include z...fo1.
    select-options: xxxxxxx
    Code  with no syntax error:
    select-options: xxxxxxx
    include z...top .
    include z...fo1.
    Thanks for all your help,

    Hello,
    From the grammar in the JPA spec, SUM only takes a state_field_path_expression which is defined as
    state_field_path_expression := {identification_variable | single_valued_association_path_expression}.state_field
