FTP Adapter Sender: Dynamic configuration of directory

Hello all,
I need to read files from an FTP server.
The source directory contains the current date and hence changes everyday.
That means:
Today it's          /home/user/out/20100519/ready/
Tomorrow it's gonna be     /home/user/out/20100520/ready/
and so on.
Any idea how to set this up?
Thanks & regards
Rainer

/people/shabarish.vijayakumar/blog/2009/03/26/dynamic-configuration-vs-variable-substitution--the-ultimate-battle-for-the-file-name
using dynamicconfiguration cant you make the directory dynamic.
All you need is to have the current date as part of the string i.e /home/user/out/<YYYYMMDD>/ready/

  • FTP Adapter (Sender)

    Hi Experts,
    The usual scenario and setting for an FTP adapter (sender) to trigger an event if there are no files being picked up? If it's possible, how will I do it?
    Cheers,
    R-jay

    Hi Neetesh,
    I have my existing configuration the adapter finds a file, it will just delete the file since the target system is the one creating a log (let say) every 1min. My configuration is set to every 2mins to check the folder and if there's a file, the adapter just delete the file. Then if the adapter doesn't find any of the file, then it will create a target output to another directory informing that no files are found. I only create 1 log file and just append the new log (overwrite the file)
    Sample (output): message.log
    Server A: Critical. No file has been found
    Server B: Critical. No file has been found
    Server C: Critical. No file has been found
    Someone will be looking onto this file and they will be creating like an automated alert.
    Note: I'm not using the Alert Framework of SAP PI since it will only trigger on application level of PI. This will like monitor an external application Server.
    Cheers,

    Hi,
    You can use RequestResponseBean in the sender file adapter module .
    RequestResponseBean (SAP Library - SAP Exchange Infrastructure)
    Request/Response Bean for IDOC_AAE adapter
    Instead of IDOC_AAE adapter you can use FILE adapter.

  • Dynamic Configuration - Set Directory Path for File Receiver Adapter

    Hi Experts,
    I have a question regarding the dynamic configuration for the file adapter. Is it possible to set a directory path without a message mapping for the file receiver adapter? the problem is that I want to import a pdf document. this pdf document I want to store in a dynamic directory (depending on the filename). so I have to read the filename out of the dynamic configuration and generate (depending on the filename) a directory for this file. Is that possible without a message mapping? I cannot make a message mapping because the file has the pdf format and should not get changed.
    best regards
    Christopher Kühn

    Hi Gaurav,
    I use the ASMA (respectively the filename) for the sender adapter. After the pdf was imported into XI this filename is in the ASMA.
    But what then??? How can I get this filename with the help of the variable substitution? and if I have this filename I have to change this filename a bit to generate the name / path of the directory.
    Please explain it to me detailled
    Thanks and regards

    Hi All
    I have a adapter module in a receiver file adapter. In the code I try to access the file name through dynamic configuration,The file name gets set in the mapping.
    String strFileName = msg.getMessageProperty(new MessagePropertyKey("FileName","http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File"));
    When my module get executed I get error: nested exception is: java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.Message.getMessageProperty(com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.MessagePropertyKey) of an object loaded from local variable 'msg'
    Is it possible to get file name in receiver adapter? if so why does this error occur?

    Yes it is possible...chk this
    /people/daniel.graversen/blog/2006/10/05/dynamic-configuration-in-adapter-modules
    i guess u have added this import statement in ur code:
    import com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.MessagePropertyKey;
    Code will be soemthing like this (FOR PI7.1)
    MessagePropertyKey mpk = new MessagePropertyKey("FileName","http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File");
    String filename = msg.getMessageProperty(mpk);

  • FTP Adapter - Send (Target)

    Hi,
    I have interconnect 9i standalone installation on HP-UNIX with most of the adapters installed.
    The integration scenario/flow of the data is:
    Source: DB Adapter
    Target: DB Adapter and FTP.
    I have multiple targets in the above scenario. The integration trigger point is change in a table of the Source DB Adapter.
    The integration works fine from Source DB to Target DB. Whereas the second target adapter FTP is not receiving the data/creating a file as mentioned in the parameter file.sender.file_name_rule in the adapter.ini file. I have included the settings of my adapter.ini below:
    application=trg_consultants_ftp
    bridge_class=oracle.oai.agent.adapter.technology.TechBridge
    ota.type=XML
    ota.send.endpoint=file://localhost/shahul/ftp/out
    file.sender.type=ASCII
    file.sender.file_name_rule=emp_%TIME%.xml
    the other settings is as default. Could any one help me why i am not able receive the file. The APP view of the Ftp adapter was created using a DTD. I exported the PL/SQL code for the application and got a empty package definition. Hence i didnt create the package for Ftp.
    Thanks,
    Shah

    Hi,
    I defined the message type as XML (ota.type=XML). I thought i may have to create the PL/SQL package for FTP adapter too - like a DB Adapter. But now my integration is working and both the DB and FTP adapter are subscribing the message from the hub. Actually i had some of the receiving end property enabled and then i commented them and restarted the adapter then it started working.

  • FTP adapter - how to omit output directory

    Hi,
    I am trying to FTP a file to AS400 server, using the FTP adapter in 10.1.3.1
    My requirement is to not specifiy the output directory (I need to FTP in my $HOME directory, where I get to, once I logon).
    The GUI wizard does not allow you to omit output directory, so I put a logical name, andd then in bpel.xml I try to omit the value (assuming that it would then default to the home directory). But it does not work this way, when I deploy it it puts a null for the logical name (seeing a missing value), and then tries to search for directory named 'null' on the server.
    I tried using '.' or '..' but in vain...
    Any clues, how can i work-around this ?
    Thanks.

    you can set the destination folder at runtime using the ftp adapter outbound header. But you have to specify some folder name.

  • Problem with FTP Adapter in creating a new Folder

    Hi all,
    I have a requirement in which a BPEL process shud create a folder named as sysdate dynamically and write a
    CSV file into that.(ex: PO/2010-03-09/PO_1.csv).I created a header variable for Oubound FTP adapter and
    passing the file directory as concat('PO/',xp20:current-date(),'/') to outbound header directory variable.Problem is FTP
    adapter is not creating the sysdate folder its says:1.check u have privileges 2.file name is too long....Blah....Blah.
    But i have all the privileges for that user.If i manually create the sysdate folder the FTP adapter is placing the CSV
    file.The same works fine with file adapter...but i need to use FTP since the FTP server can change in future.Seems to

  • ESB: inbound file and outbound ftp adapter with multiple directories

    Basically I want to scan directories and write new files ftp directories. I could figure out how to do that for one directory. However I need to scan multiple directories and ftp upload files contained in those directories to corresponding ftp directories. Number of directories and their names are only known at run time. All directories are under one parent directory, both locally and the remote ftp site. We can assume all ftp directories exist.
    I could not figure out how to this. Is this possible at all? Directory names seem to be only specified at design time, for both inbound file adapters and outbound ftp adapters.
    Pranab

    Chris, I am not really sure this is the right place to ask this question. But hopefully you might have something in your armour to help me out.
    My requirement is to configure an inbound File/FTP adapter to read from a Directory which can be known only at runtime. A webservice call returns the file name and network path of the file to be read, but that happens only during the run time. I guess one way possible is, you configure a File/FTP Adapter with a logical name for directory and set the physical directory path using the endpoint property. But in that case, I should know the Physical directory @ deployment time.
    I would like to know whether it is possible to manipulate the Endpoint property of an ESB Service (SOAP Service/Routing Service/Adapter Service) during runtime.
    So is there any way to get the enpoint property configured during runtime??? Otherwise dO you recommend some other solution for this use case???
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Passing payload values to FTP adapter properties

    Hi
       We are on XI 3.0 SP 13 and we have a requirement as follows :
    We want to use XI purely as a dynamic ftp service.It has 3-4 static locations from which it picks up files from. The target details onto which it ftps the files are dynamic i.e the hostname, uname,type of transfer etc are to be looked up from a db table - in other words, these ftp destination details are to be looked up during mapping using a mapping lookup API and then the ftp adapter properties are to be set dynamically .
    Question is : can we set these ftp adapter properties like hostname, uname etc dynamically from mapping ? If not, what alternatives do we have to achieve this ? Or is this doable in SP14 onwards ?
    I have seen a lot of threads on setting this ftp adapter properties dynamically - including suggestions for writing a JAVA module, proxies etc -
    WE are on SP13 - what is the package - class and API details that are to be accessed - if we want to achieve this using a JAVA module ? ( if at all we have to go that route )
    Any quick suggestions, pointers is appreciated as we are in a time crunch to do a POC. Thank you for your time.

    Hi,
      I doubt if we could set the file parameters dynamically.
    In case the number of target locations are small, say, 4 or 5... we could achieve this through conditional receiver detemination. In order to do this, we would need to know the receivers in advance.
    Regards,
    Smitha.
