FTP adapter without change directory - is it possible?

Guys,
I have an FTP adapter question. We are trying to both
send and receive a file using FTP. To do this we use
the server, user ID, password (etc) and the directory
name. The directory is mandatory.
After connecting to the ftp server, XI always seems to
issuing a "cd <directory>" command, however this fails
because this target company doesn't want to give
anybody the option to do a "cd" command on their FTP
server, therefore the whole file transmission fails.
Is there any way for XI not to use a "cd"?
We could just place the file on our server and run a
Unix scripts to FTP it over, but it would be such a
backward solution.
Any ideas?
It would be a disappointment if SAP didn't think of
this.
Your help would be much appreciated, thanks a lot,
Viktor

Hi Viktor,
     What i could understand from your question is that in the FTP server you'll be writing a file in folder A and once the writing is done you need to get it moved to Folder B using a 'CD' OS command. But this OS command is not allowed in the FTP server.
    If that is the case then it will be better to write the file directly into the Folder B. But in the file adapter use the option 'Use Temporary File'. In that case until and unless the file is written fully the file will be having the name .tmp or so.
    The advantage will be the third party server could be polling the folder B for a file *.txt in that case it won't pick this .tmp file.
Cheers
JK

  • FTP Adapter Properties change - question

    Friends,
    I am new to SOA 11G suite. We ahve a FTP connection configured on the Weblogic using FTP adapter. I want to change the password of the FTP configuration which I do by using following steps but the password does reflect the change after I relogon to Console or actually run the application I deployed which uses the FTP Connection. I would like to know if I am missing any steps :-
    1. Selected my specific connnection in the connection factory
    2. Changed the password through properties tab
    3. Checking the Ftpadapter (under Deployment) and clicking the Update button.
    4. Tried both option - Update application and Redeploy option.
    5. It gives me messages the changes were succesfull
    6. I click the Active Changes button again
    7. It gets me to the logon page and I relogon to Weblogic console
    8. When I recheck the password for my FTP connection it does not reflect the change.
    Am I missing anything ? Please advise
    Thanks

    Thanks Arik for response. I figured it our earlier that I was not pressing the ENTER key after changing the password but just clicking the SAVE button. Well, I have to pull my self out of these kind of beginner blunders.
    Since I passed over the hurdle, can I bug you with related question :-
    I have the BPEL process that actually is polling for a file using FTP adapter on one of our servers. (This FTP password is not the one I changed in above steps). The same BPEL process after reading the file transforms the XML And sends the output to the other FTP server (for which I had changed the password in the above step. However after I went through the password change and update etc the BPEL process has stopped polling the file from the source FTP server. The file is there but it is not getting picked up and the BPEL process is not gettng initiated.
    Do I need to restart the SOA services to make this work ?
    Thanks for your help

  • FTP: can't change directory to

    When I try to connect to my FTP Server, any user has the message:
    530 User xxxx: can't change directory to asdads/xxxx.
    I have also this message in System Log:
    Sep 13 10:58:24 hostname ftpd[7916]: FTP LOGIN FAILED (cannot chdir) for 01.user.isp.com (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx), username
    I want that my users will connect to their own Home folders.
    Could anybody help me? I have no idea what could be wrong in my config.
    Thanx

    In Server Admin for the FTP Server, what are the Advanced Settings for the authenticated users? Do the authenticated users have access to their home directories enabled?
    If that's not it and the setting should allow access to the home directories, what path is the cd command targeting? If you're authenticated, then / (root) is typically set up as your login directory on the ftp server.
    If you're poking around at random directories, configuring and using ftp gets a bit more interesting. If access to share points is permitted, then there are symbolic links provided that allow you to cd over to the share points. But the paths can be (are) relative to and specific to how ftp server chooses to expose the local file system to the ftp client.
    (On a side note, ftp can also run afoul of network firewall settings and such, and can expose user and password information when used from untrusted or open networks. sftp can be a better choice in both regards.)

  • Bulk Uploading of New Users without Active Directory Sync. Possible?

    Hello,
    WithOUT Active Directory synchronization, is it possible to do a bulk upload of 100+ users onto Project Server 2013 (Online)?  If so, how?
    In addition, can these new users be setup to default with “User can be assigned as a resource"?
    Thanks in advance,
    \Spiro Theopoulos PMP, MCITP. Montreal, QC (Canada)

    Hi,
    it is possible, but not completely.
    If you select at least one resource in Resource Center and click "Open", this resource is opened for editing in client. At this place, you can add your new resources with all fields (and Default Booking Type), e.g. with copy/paste from some other
    source. They are added as resources. However, editing column "User Logon Account" is disabled, so you can't add this information in client. You need to do this afterwards from Resource Center for each single resource.
    And yes - I agree: This is very inconvinient!

  • No Source Directory on Sender FTP Adapter

    Hi Guys,
    I am using a sender adapter to poll an external FTP Server. The adapter is able to see the server fine.
    My problem lies in this:
    The company in charge of the FTP server has put a restriction disallowing the 'cd' command on the ftp server.  Now in the sender ftp adapter, the source directory is a mandatory field and therefore if nothing else, I need to put a '.' into the source directory.
    This in effect will do a cd . when it logins into the ftp server.  It is here that I get an error because command cd is disallowed.
    Does anyone know how I can prevent the sender ftp adapter from automatically doing a cd command i.e. have no source directory?
    Thanks,
    Miguel

    Hi,
    I think it is not possible with file adapter .

    Can anyone plz tell me that how the files can be moved with same permissions using ftp adapter. i m using jdeveloper11.1.1.4.0. and soa11g.

  • Outbound FTP adapter directory dynamic path

    Hi,
    I tried creating FTP adapter with logical directory names.
    When I create inbound FTP adapter (get activity) and provide logical directory path, it creates activation agent and on deployment it works fine. However when I try to create FTP adapter for outbound FTP adapter (put activity) and provide logical directory path, it could not create activation agent for the same….When I add activation agent manually, I am able to compile the service locally on J Developer, but could not deploy the service into SOA Instance.
    Please update me, if anybody has made outbound FTP adapter directory dynamic path.
    Best Regards,
    Dhaval Khamar

    Dipal's note is correct for setting the output directroy dynamically, but I just want to clarify the steps you are taking.
    You say that you create the activation agent manually for the put FTP adatper. This is not required, the activation agent is used to poll locations to invoke a process. The put activity is invoked from the BPEL process and not required.
    If you are using logical directorys you partner link should look like this in the bpel.xml
    <partnerLinkBinding name="writeFile">
    <property name="wsdlLocation">writeFile.wsdl</property>
    <property name="OutboundDir">/app01/oracle/outbound</property>
    <property name="retryInterval">60</property>
    </partnerLinkBinding>
    The nasty thing about BPEL is that if you edit this manually and you make chnages BPEL will over write this. To avoid this create a property in the partner link. Right-Click the partner link select property tab, enter the logical directory name, e.g. OutboundDir and provide a value.
    If you want to chnage this location dynamically during runtime follow Dipal's note.
    cheers

  • Sender FTP Adapter (file transfer w/o mapping)

    Hello everyone!
    Is there a way to configure a Sender FTP Adapter such that it simply picks up a file in an FTP folder then moves it to another FTP folder without changing any data (no mapping needed)?
    I tried doing it, but the Sender Agreement requires you specifiy an Outbound interface (which is not needed in this case). Would anyone of you know a workaround to this?
    Warm regards,
    Glenn

    Hi
    Use dummy interface name. But that should be same in ID objects

  • FTP Adapter Unable to change directory 'inputDir'

    Hi all. I'm trying to put the file into BPEL Process, transform and put it to the output directory like in tutorial 129.FTPAdapter FTPDebatching. But I've got this message:

    Hi Varun,
    Review of the ftp protocol specification
    http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc959/
    http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc959/5_Declarative.html
    shows that LIST command
    LIST
    125, 150
    226, 250
    425, 426, 451
    450
    500, 501, 502, 421, 530
    does not have 550 code among the codes which are supposed to be returned by ftp server in response
    to ls command. So, it looks like the ftp server running on AIX platofrm violates the ftp protocol specification.
    As a result bpel ftp adapter returns an error and the process goes off-line.
    Solution:
    Apply patch 4508850.
    If for any reason the official patch does not work, then apply the patch manually using the following steps:
    1. Stop OC4J_BPEL
    2. Create the following directories:
    $O_H\integration\orabpel\system\classes\oracle\tip\adapter\file\inbound
    $O_H\integration\orabpel\system\classes\oracle\tip\adapter\ftp\inbound
    3. Copy the following files
    FileSource.class, PollWork.class, FTPSource.class
    from the patch to
    $O_H\integration\orabpel\system\classes\oracle\tip\adapter\file\inbound\FileSource.class
    $O_H\integration\orabpel\system\classes\oracle\tip\adapter\file\inbound\PollWork.class
    $O_H\integration\orabpel\system\classes\oracle\tip\adapter\ftp\inbound\FTPSource.class
    4. Restart OC4J_BPEL

  • How to change the JCA JNDI dynamically using FTP Adapter

    We have 5 FTP Servers, each having a directory to poll. We have created 5 CCI instances for these FTP Adapters in the FTPAdapter deployment. We created a BPEL process and using FTP Adapter to connect to above mentioned servers.
    Question: Customer's requirement is to use a single BPEL process to poll all these FTP Servers at a specified date and time. How can we connect dynamically to each FTP server at specified time.
    (OR)
    Is there any way to change the JCAJNDI dynamically in a FTP Adapter configuration ?
    I have seen that FTP Adapter POLL doesnt take any JCA JNDI/hostname/un/pwd/date/time dynamically.
    Regards
    Pavan

    Hi Pavan,
    It's possible to change the JNDI dynamically but only when you use put operation where you can control the JNDI name at the time of invoking the FTP Adapter as described in below link.
    Dynamic JNDI in FTP Adapter | jca.jndi property not picked by Adapter
    However, can you consider using BPEL process with SyncRead (and read files through all the JNDIs in a loop) and scheduling this BPEL process to a desired frequency?

    I created a business service using jca adapter to put the file to the ftp server.
    The problem is the write directory on the ftp server is different for each environment - DEV, QA, PROD.
    I used a physical directory specification when defining the adapter in JDEV because it wasn't clear from the help how i would override a logical directory during deployment to osb (it is clear if deploying to soa suite).
    Is there a way to override this dynamically override this directory at runtime. Or even better a way to override during deployment time?

    You do it either way....

  • Dynamically generate terget directory in receiver FTP adapter

    Hi guys,
    I'm trying to set up a scenario where the file will be placed into a terget directiry based on values from the incoming message. I can't use variable substitution as my target message does not contain the needed value, so I'm trying to set up a dynamic configuration in an UDF. Unfortunately, this is not working.. Any ideas, what could be wrong? The receiver FTP adapter always just takes values from it's configuration. It doesn't help when I try to change it in mapping.
    This is the java map code in the UDF:
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File", "Directory");
    DynamicConfigurationKey key2 = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File", "FileName");
    conf.put(key, a);
    conf.put(key2, "tfilename.txt");
    return "";
    Thanks a lot for any help,

    Hi,
    use below code it will work fine
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container
        .getTransformationParameters().get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File", "FileName");
    DynamicConfigurationKey key1 = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File", "Directory");
    String a=conf.get(key);
    String b=conf.get(key1);
    var1 = a+b; ;
    return var1;
    map this udf to root element of your receiver structure.

  • FTP adapter: exc. 550 : No such file or directory

    Hi Men,
    I'm working on 7.0 version.
    I am facing a problem with FTP adapter.
    In few words, I configured a CC FTP sender to get files from a remote server (in test mode).
    As I start this channel, CC monitor retrieves the following error message:
    "Could not process file '<getThisFile>.xml': com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 550 outbox: No such file or directory."
    where '<getThisFile>.xml' is filename and "outbox" is the directory.
    I presume that it recognizes the filename and the directory but the error message says "dir or file are wrongs".
    I tried the same action by command line with same user and password ftp. Result: I was able to get this file from dir "outbox".

    Hi friends,
    FTP server is a Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
    When I log in, I only change in a sub dir called outbox.
    If I put back slash before (for WinOS), the dir path is wrong (cd \outbox should mean that outbox is under root).
    Some FTP server logs:
    Nov 29 09:40:00 golem ftpd[25272]: USER 8023******
    Nov 29 09:40:00 golem ftpd[25272]: PASS password****

    Nov 29 09:40:00 golem ftpd[25272]: TYPE Image

    Nov 29 09:40:00 golem ftpd[25272]: CWD outbox
    Nov 29 09:40:00 golem ftpd[25272]: QUIT
    I suppose that XI works fine and FTP server receives two times the "cd outbox" command. II also suppose that this Windows FTP server  memorizes the subdir "outbox" each time I log in by FTP with user  "8023******"

  • FTP Adapter to read multiple files from a directory. Not through polling.

    Dear Friends,
    I would like to know is it possible to configure the FTP adapter in Oracle BPEL 10.1.3.4 to read multiple files (different names, same structure) from a given directory. I do not want the BPEL to do a polling. Instead when I submit the BPEL process it should read all files from the directory.
    I was looking at the option of Synchronous read but I am not able to specify wild card in the file name field. I do not know the file names at the time of reading.
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
    While you read the file, you can configure an adapter property in 'Receive'. This will store the filename, this filename can be used for sync read as the input parameter.
    1. Create a message type variable called 'fileheader'. This should be of type Inboundheader_msg (whatever relevant Receive activity).
    2. This variable will contain three parts - filename, FTPhost, FTPPort
    3. Copy this fileheader to 'Syncheader'.
    4. syncheader can be passed as an adapter proerty during sync read of the file.
    During Receive and Invoke, you need to navigate to 'Adapter' tab to choose the created message type variable.
    Let me know if you have further questions.
    regards,
    Rev
